Possible new phone advice - HTC One S

I have been using this phone for 3 years now and think it is time to move on. I have been given a good deal on a moto g 4g and wondered if anyone can think of a reason not to move. It's a similar spec phone with quad core instead of dual. Has a smaller camera tho.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Cheers

I have the One (M7) for a year now and I have to say for a 2 year old phone, it really holds it's build quality. The speakers are amazing, the screen is crystal clear and it has Lollipop + Sense 6. We won't get Sense 7 officially but I'm 100% sure we will get a very functional port of Sense 7. The only downside is the camera. If your not too concerned about that then I think you should go for it. If not, I would suggest the Moto G (2014) or the Sony Xperia Z1/Z3 Compact, you can't go wrong with any of them

If you really liked you One S, you can go to something similar like the M8, or if you can wait for a couple of days, get your hands on the new HTC One M9.

One good reason to wait: wait for a real new ARM64 phone. The Moto G 4G (2014) is still a SnapDragon 400 with Krait cores I believe, so nothing really new from our One S.
I would wait for a cheap Motorola with ARM64 cores for less than 200$.

We already have a thread talk about this.
Moto G 4G is real a very bad choice, only a 4.5" 720P, S400, 1G ram, 8GB rom(though with microSD slot). Nothing real better and camera is a downgrade to 5MP.
I'm still using One S as a spare phone and upgraded to Sony Z1 Compact since last year. If budget is a major concern, you should get Z1c because it is cheap now should only a bit expensive than Moto G 4G but with a hardware much much better(4.3" 720P, S800, 2G ram, 16GB, microSD, LTE, 20MP camera, IPX67, 2300mah). Lollipop got delayed but will arrive on this phone probably around May/June.
But since now I've two small phones, I think it's too many. I'm going to sell out Z1c and upgrade again in April/May sometimes and give Galaxy S6 a try because the phone is quite small and slim this time to the 5.1" size.
If you have more money then get Sony Z3 Compact with bigger screen(4.6" but still same size with Z1c and One S), battery life and camera is even more better. If you can wait for like half year, Z4c will probably out on Sep.

I have used one S for 3 years too.
It's my first android phone, and I have a good time with it.
A lot of great developers have worked on this phone, they become a story!
I think Oneplus ONE is a great phone.
HTC M9 is great too!

3 years here also
i want to move to the new phone too. thinkng about new nexus or wait for the new LG

I'm going to buy a new phone in my summer vacation......Probably OnePlus

New Android Girl nexus s and arc

Hello everyone, I'm fairly new to android and would love if someone could help me. Coming from iPhone 4 I wana get android phone cause Rogers is releasing nexus s and xperia arc on 28th I wana get one but not sure which is better. Please help me everyone as I have only week to decide.
Thanks
Buy Arc Or w8 For Samsung Galaxy S2 ( similar to iphone 4 in looks )
might be forever for sgs2
just looking at the specs the Xperia Arc has the advantage in many areas:
8.1MP vs 5MP camera
microSD slot that can accept a 32GB card vs 16GB fixed internal in Nexus
4.2" vs 4.0" screen
FM radio
micro hdmi
MobileSyrup is reporting the Samsung Galaxy S II to be released late Q2/Early Q3. With a dual core 1.2 GHz processor, 4.3-inch Super AMOLED display and 1GB of RAM, I think it'll be worth the wait.
If not, I think the Samsung Nexus S would be a better choice than the Arc.
Sgs2 released in india. Getting in day or two
In Uk 1st May Onwards.
its not Forever
So not arc? I need one rightaway or nexus s.

If you want something right away, then take the Arc. It's a better phone than the Nexus S.

Agreed.
I used a Nexus S for a couple of weeks prior to getting my Arc and there's simply no contest IMO.
Of course there's the obvious points like the superior camera, the flexibility of having a memory card as opposed to only in-built memory, extra features like HDMI-out and the significantly better looks
But there's also things like the fact that the Arc is smoother, so much more polished and the screen is actually really good - for day-to-day usage, I'd go so far as to say that it's a match for the sAMOLED panel the Nexus S uses.
Hi i would recommend you to go for sony ericsson xperia arc because i have research lot for this phone and i got awesome reviews so go for arc. Thanks.

Except, you know, for the screen you're looking at all day (SAMOLED >>> any LCD), and the constant Google software updates. And the faster Hummingbird in the Nexus.

[Q] Is the HTC One X still worth buying?

I have a HTC One S atm and honestly I cannot stand the pentile screen one bit. the blacks/greys are really the only good looking colors. I like everything else about it though, besides the front facing cam quality which I never really use anyways. I have had my eyes on the one x for a long while but never could get my hands on one and im thinking about selling my one s to get it.
Anyways, with the one x+ coming out should I still buy this? the only upgrade I see is ROM memory, and the front facing cam. oh and the tegra 3 which has similar performance as the s4. or is there more?
I also have my eyes on the htc x8, but no clue when that is coming out.
thanks!
edit: it would be nice to hear other peoples opinions on the phone, both cons and pros

The S4 has better performance than the Tegra 3.
The main difference in One X and One X+ is that the One X+ has removable SD card and a quad core. I think there is a little bit more RAM, and a better camera/screen.
The One X is a great phone, but I don't think there's an official release date yet, so you can wait if you want. Either phone will still be amazing.

Can you show the source you saw that it has a better screen and a removable sdcard slot? says neither on the official site. says that it comes in other quantities like 32gb, 64gb. and better battery performance. Yeah im not sure if I am going to wait cause it will be 400+ when it comes out anyways and I wouldn't like to pay that when the one x is now around $300.

Oh, sorry, I think I got the One X+ confused with the HTC J Butterfly, which has the removable storage.
The X+ has more internal storage, and I think 2GB of RAM instead of 1, as well as a quad core
http://www.theverge.com/2012/10/17/...nning-5-inch-1080p-j-butterfly-phone-in-japan
that's what I was thinking of
http://reviews.cnet.com/smartphones/htc-one-x-at/4505-6452_7-35477659.html
The one X+ has a tegra 3 quad core, benchmarks show that the S4 in the North American One X performed better than the Tegra 3 international one x, take it as you will. But I cant say if the processor is better without seeing a comparison

http://www.htc.com/www/smartphones/htc-one-x-plus/#specs still 1gb RAM
definitely not worth $100 upgrade. and the j butterfly is a bit too big for my taste even with the expandable storage and SLCD 3. now the x8 looks amazing, pretty much a smaller one x with wp8. im not going to get the first wp8 handset that comes out though, like I did with wp7 and got super bored of the OS.
I think my mind is pretty much set.
How do you like your one x?

Best phone on the market, IMO - besides the 16GB and no expandable storage, but it's a small price to pay, honestly.
the SGS3 is nice, but I honestly love sense 4+
I came from the HTC Aria and Sense 2.1 was just meh.
I might get it if I can sell the One X for a good price, since it's still in mint condition. Otterbox'd, screen protector. I treat it like my baby

The One X+ is worth it just for the 64GB of storage. I am constantly having to manage stuff on my phone.
Yeah true.. on my one s I have to keep my music on the low and constantly manage it but its something ive become used to so its not a deal breaker at all considering my last two phones before this (iphone 4, nokia n9) also had 16gb of ROM memory.
and the galaxy s3 isn't worth $100-200 more than the one x since it has a much worth screen with the pentile, and worse camera, annnnd I am not a fan of the glossy cheap go phone looking plastic lol.

[Q] Finding a flagship phone that's not massive

I'm trying to find a phone that suits my needs, but it's proved difficult.
Currently I have a Galaxy SIII GSM phone.
I'd like a newer phone that's of similar size, 4.7 - 5.1 in or so, nothing remotely close to a Note3 in size. Also 2gb+ of RAM is mandatory, 1gb phones have all been ridiculously slow regardless of CPU. And rootable so I can install CM11+ on it.
Any suggestions?

All the current flagships "phones". are 5.0-5.2". I say "phones" because I'm not including phablets like the Note or One Plus One or LG G3, HTC One M8 is 5.0", but is a pretty large phone because of the front speakers, ditto the 5.2" Sony Z2. The G2 is small for its 5.2" screen, and the smallest flagship, without going too far down in specs, is the Nexus 5. Smaller than that, and you're going to be compromising on processors. The Moto X has a 4.7" screen, as does the HTC One M7, but the specs aren't the latest or even the second latest. 2GB of RAM on each though, and both do run smooth and snappy. The Moto X is very compact despite the 4.7" screen.
The one exception to this is the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact. It has the same internals as the full size Z1 (Snapdragon 800 2.2GHz, 2GB RAM), but in a smaller size with a 4.3" screen. Personally though, I'd wait a month or two for the Z3 Compact (they skipped the Z2), which'll have the same height and width (but be a bit thinner) yet pack a bigger 4.6" screen. And front facing speakers and it's waterproof. One hell of a phone.

Getting a new phone, but which?

Currently using a Galaxy S4 and want to change with a nice phone (duh). There is one question I'm asking - is it a good idea to get a phone with Snapdragon 801/805 instead of 810? If so, which would you recommend - Xperia Z3 or Moto X 2014? I'm worried that if I get them, in a year or two, some apps will only support 64 bit chips.

It's going to be a long time before anything but perhaps the most intense games require 64 bit over 32 bit.
Of those 2, the Xperia Z3 is definitely the better phone than the Moto X. The Moto X has its qualities, but the Z3 has the dual speakers, waterpfoofness, expandable storage, and like twice the battery life.

Personally I would go ahead with the Z3. Sony's Xperia Z line is rather iterative; the changes between successive models are pretty gradual. It is thought that the only major upgrade will be to the GPU from Adreno 330 to 430, according to leaked benchmarks. It is doubted that there will be any bump in screen technology, size or resolution.
Ultimately, your call.

Now looking at the X, I'm actually tempted to go and buy the N6, both the N6 and Z3 have got similar pricing where I live, but it'll be another week or two for me to decide on which phone to get.
Anyway, thanks for your guys' opinions.

Nexus 5 2015 (LG VS HUAWEI)?

As we come closer to October, it's always fun to speculate!
Would you rather have the LG Nexus 5 or the Huawei made Nexus 5?
here's a re-cap on the "rumored" specs so far:
LG Nexus 5:
- Snapdragon 808 processor
- 4GB RAM
- 5.2 inch display
- 2700mAh battery.
Huawei Nexus 5
- Snapdragon 810
- 3500mAh battery
-5.7 inch display
- likely 4GB of ram
so, yeah...which one would you choose?
-Justnspace
Definitely LG.
Would prefer the one coming with 820.... 808 is weak in graphics and 810 is heater which becomes a oven in India.... ??
Definitely the LG. Since these phones are kinda being seen as "sequels", the Hauwei Nexus is just too damn big for me, same exact reason why I don't want an N6. The LG model seems like it's gonna be the perfect update to an already capable design.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Would like the future LG Nexus to have at least 3000mAh battery. Might go with the Huawei if it is only 2700.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
LG all the way...
LG without question.
I'd rather just get the N6 if it ends up being that Huawei. Actually, I would just keep my N5 2013 at that point..
LG did very well with the N4 and N5-13...so why not again.
Gesendet von meinem Nexus 5 mit Tapatalk 2
LG without doubt
Interesting results so far.
I am happy with the way LG handled the nexus 5 2013 and will likely not stray away from them in 2015.
LG all the way!
(I S hold have done a poll)
I will just avoid anything with 810
Where did you hear it will be the 810? I've only heard rumors of 820.
That a side I would prefer the lg unless like others mentioned that is the battery size then I'll give the huawei a shot. Also depends on other things too. Speaker placement, wireless charging, price. Ect
LG for damn sure. Nexus 4 have already served me well for 2 full years, and Nexus 5 as a backup device also gave me a nice impression. It just feels like Nexus should be made by LG by now... especially since no one else got it "righter" than LG
Sent from Google Nexus 4 @ CM12.1
[WARNING: XDA Premium 4.0.13+ lacks Signature function - do not update]
I dont know if 808 is such a good decision considering that the g4 has it and lg is planning to release a 820 version already later this year. I dont know.. I would rather have the 810 or 820 which really is a jump
remember, these are all just Rumored specs. All three companies(google, LG, Huawei) have been silent
even if Huawei releases the 820 (I heard the chip is coming out in Dec. so, it wont be in phones till at least summer '16) it looks as if most people would still choose the LG made Nexus.
I loved my N5. but I had to switch to LG G4 because of speaker/sound quality. I need all day long to talk on phone and it became really anoying after couple minutes the poor sound.
But the N5 support on developement is great and esteticly I loved it.
So I'm really excited about the new N5.
I just hope it wont be equiped with SnapDragon 810 because of overheat. Where I live in summer it's about 40 degrees, so... you know
Ans for sure, I hope LG will release it!!!!! LG all the way!
Wow, look at those poll results, lol. After using the Nexus 6 for a couple months and never really enjoying it I am waiting for a smaller phone. Even 5.5 is too big. I am hoping a 5.2" LG will feel similar to the current Nexus 5.
This big phone trend is completely idiotic, its like no manufacturer scans the market to see what people want. The sweet spot for most people is 4.7-5.0 (more or less). Yet they keep making phones too ****in big and give no alternative, its just plain stupid. They just release the "mini" versions, completely idiotic cripled versions of flagship phones, overpriced. Sony is the only one who has some sense about this, but their prices are way too high.
If any brand like lg or sony or htc made a flagship phone with a good cpu, a 4.7 inch screen(or maybe even 5.0 with reduced borders) 1080p, 2 or 3gb ram, a good 3000mah battery and a price point of around 350 euros or something, it would probably become the top selling phone in little time. But no, lets make them all 5.5 or even bigger and always with some flaw to keep the consumer from buying it lol.
True that some people like big phones, but most people dont...I dont understand why manufacturers cant figure this out honestly...

With the exception of battery you described three nexus 5. Or z3 compact (and it's not selling that much) I want the same size screen as nexus 5, but definitely more than 2gb of ram. 3 minimum, but would like 4 so the phone could last more than a year.

you just reinforced my point. Nexus 5 flaw: battery.
Why couldn't they just stick a better battery on it, even if it increased the price a bit? I like my nexus 5 very much but i hate battery life on this phone and will probably exchange it for a better alternative(hopefully the new 5.2 nexus if it comes with good battery life)
the z3 compact isnt selling much because its price is way too high. Put its price around 250 euros (which would suit given the specs it has) and it would sell like a flagship phone. It was actually one of my choices before the nexus 5. But when i saw the price asked for it...way too high and went for the N5 instead
btw i would rather have 2gb ram with a good battery than 3 or 4gb with a crappy one...since manufacturers always want to cut costs i would prefer they would not cut on battery
