[Q] Galaxy S or Xperia Arc - General Questions and Answers

Can someone please help me make the decision.
I'm buying my new phone in two weeks ..
And I'm confused between these two
Samsung Galaxy S
Or
Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc
Taking into account the popularity of the Galaxy S and the wide-range support.
And the coolness .. the awesome camera of the Xperia Arc.
P.S. i don't know why so many people are comparing the Xperia Arc to the
Galaxy S II despite the fact that the S II has a dual-core processor, while the Xperia has a single core. They should compare the S but not S II
I'd really appreciate your answer so that i can make up my mind

Arc is more stylish to me.
Also, if you buy SIM-unlocked one, it's not a problem to unlock bootloader.
But it hasn't got so many custom ROMs as Galaxy S does.
Most Arcs can be overclocked up to 1.7GHz stable (max is 2.0GHz), even up to 2.0GHz if you apply some more overvolting.
And it has nice Super LCD screen which is great.
But, let's also tell something about Galaxy S: so much custom ROMs, big community, S-AMOLED screen, weighting almost the same as a bunch of 10 A4 papers.

galaxy s

Arc. Bigger screen, better camera. I even like the screen better: works well in sunlight.

I Would go for ARC as well. Very nicely build phone.

And what about the screen .. Super AMOLED vs. LCD Sony Bravia Reality Display
It's said that the S-AMOLED is the best in the business these days .. However, alot of people claim the Xperia's LCD is awesome too
And i don't know about the touch sensitivity comparing to the Galaxy S

New Android Girl nexus s and arc

Hello everyone, I'm fairly new to android and would love if someone could help me. Coming from iPhone 4 I wana get android phone cause Rogers is releasing nexus s and xperia arc on 28th I wana get one but not sure which is better. Please help me everyone as I have only week to decide.
Thanks
Buy Arc Or w8 For Samsung Galaxy S2 ( similar to iphone 4 in looks )
might be forever for sgs2
just looking at the specs the Xperia Arc has the advantage in many areas:
8.1MP vs 5MP camera
microSD slot that can accept a 32GB card vs 16GB fixed internal in Nexus
4.2" vs 4.0" screen
FM radio
micro hdmi
MobileSyrup is reporting the Samsung Galaxy S II to be released late Q2/Early Q3. With a dual core 1.2 GHz processor, 4.3-inch Super AMOLED display and 1GB of RAM, I think it'll be worth the wait.
If not, I think the Samsung Nexus S would be a better choice than the Arc.
Sgs2 released in india. Getting in day or two
In Uk 1st May Onwards.
its not Forever
So not arc? I need one rightaway or nexus s.

If you want something right away, then take the Arc. It's a better phone than the Nexus S.

Agreed.
I used a Nexus S for a couple of weeks prior to getting my Arc and there's simply no contest IMO.
Of course there's the obvious points like the superior camera, the flexibility of having a memory card as opposed to only in-built memory, extra features like HDMI-out and the significantly better looks
But there's also things like the fact that the Arc is smoother, so much more polished and the screen is actually really good - for day-to-day usage, I'd go so far as to say that it's a match for the sAMOLED panel the Nexus S uses.
Hi i would recommend you to go for sony ericsson xperia arc because i have research lot for this phone and i got awesome reviews so go for arc. Thanks.

Except, you know, for the screen you're looking at all day (SAMOLED >>> any LCD), and the constant Google software updates. And the faster Hummingbird in the Nexus.

[Q] [New Phone Buying] Galaxy S vs. Xperia Neo vs. ...

Hello everyone!
I've been using my HTC Legend for a while now and I was quite happy with it, except performance breaking down several times. So lately I decided to root the phone and throw some custom ROM on it, preferably CM7. Well, I am a little ashamed to confess, that it hasn't just worked out yet, but according to several postings my Goldcard seems to be the problem.
Anyway, I came up with the idea of buying myself a new droid. The criteria is easy in fact. It should have a bigger screen than the Legend and sunlight legibility should be good (oh yeah, that was another issue with my legend). And it should be fast and pretty. Last but definitly not least: Custom ROM Support is important!
Until now I've made a choice for a few phones I like.
-Sony Ericsson Xperia NEO
-Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc
-LG p970 Optimus Black
-Samsung Galaxy S 9000
What phones do you think match my criteria best? Have you got any other propositions in the same price range?

[Q] Buying Samsung Galaxy SII i9100 or Xperia S?

hello dear friends
i am going to buy a phone, Samsung Galaxy SII i9100 or Xperia S
but it's hard to decide which is better, as they are in the same range of price
the most important thing for me is the ROM and Software support, and speed of performance
and then go to resolution and camera and etc.
so would anyone help me to find which is better in those aspects?
Thanks
Hello,
I Would go for sgs2 I have the phone now 6months and I love it ! Differents Roms you can find, the battery is good, etc it's a good phone !
Best regards
I just got the Xperia S about a week ago and I love it. Much prefer it over the S2 and the price is amazing, £270 sim free and costing £10 a month on a 12 month sim free contract.
I got the Xperia S ,the speed of performance is OK,but sometimes it will be slow. The ICS is coming soon, may it will be better, and in my mind,S is more beautiful than i9100...
If you like to play games, i9100 may be better
if you interesting about using camera choose Xperia S because have high resolution
look the comparison link
geekaphone.com/compare/Sony-Xperia-S-vs-Samsung-Galaxy-S-II
for me i suggest thinking about HTC One X or Galaxy S III
I have a I9100 and it is a good handy, when you need more power you can buy a 2000 mhA Akku. With this Akku i can work 2-3 Days.
A friend have the Sony S and he say it is a good handy, too.
isn't there any opinion that which one has better hardware and speed?
Xperia S with s3 snapdragon is good but the s2 with mali's gpu is way better
as for me, even though da spec indeed important, exterior stat also need to be taken into consideration, do u like ur fone can be easily scratch at da point u need to throw it or hav a major damaged for such a minor mistake as if slip from ur hand right in front of u and fell? and even more frustrated, only juz 6 inch falldown can break ur front glass, camera not functioning or damaged speakers? take full measurement when trying to buy new fone. neither i9100 or xperia s are superior device. choose wisely

Xperia J

Okay guys! I have a feeling to change from My Galsxy Ace to new Sony Xperia J... very stylished & slim, sharp phone...so can u people tell me is it a good move?? & how is your xperiance about xperia J?? Battery life good??
Sent from my GT-S5830 using xda app-developers app
Nice choice... Sony Xperia J is a nice mobile phone because it comes with 4.0.4 android operating system, 4 inch screen display, 5 mega pixel camera, 1 GHz processor, 512GB RAM, 3G and 1750 mAh battery capacity which is superb so you dont think about battery of this mobile. You can read all details here:
themobileindian.com/handset-guide/details/Sony-Xperia-J
J's stylish design caught my eyes. But yikes.... it only comes with 512MB RAM which is the same as Xperia Ray I'm having now.
In fact, its specs are all the same with Ray (aside from the fact that it's newer CPU) except bigger screen and battery.
So, my guess is that you'll experience slight lag on normal use and heavy lag if you're running a lot of widgets and apps simultaneously. (after all, what can you get with that budget?)
Just my two cents, but it's definitely the best phone available out there for that price tag.

Yeah....hope so....the most interesting thing about J is it is stylish & slim & the touch controls....i am fed up with Galaxy Ace now...it become very slow & battery drains fast......previously i had a normal crush on xperia neo v & a very big crush on Xperia ray....but sadly it changed because sony erricsson isnt there anymore...actually ilove the J with its all features....but no idea about how will be its batterylife.... & i have idea on galaxy s2 or apple 4 or 4s

You dont think about batterylife of Xperia J because it has 1750 mAh battery capacity which is very good.
My friend have it.
IMO xperia J has teh good battery life, but main disadvantage is sometimes its so lag.
I dont know why, but its should be Ok.
xperia j have good specification enough to beat galaxy ace... i thng u dont need to compare it
The Xperia J's design is indeed really attractive and though it isn't as fast as newer phones, it's pretty snappy to me. One big downside to it is its internal memory though! If you're a shutter bug like me, you'll find yourself filling that internal memory really quickly.

Display size

Hi, I have a Sony Xperia Neo since 2011 and I'm thinking about getting a new phone. I was searchin about Sony Xperia Z and Samsung Galaxy Note II.
Besides the obviously better hardware, I am looking for a bigger screen to read books. So, my question is, there is a lot of difference to read in a 3.7" screen (NEO) to a 5"-5.5" (Z,Note II)? Does reading on a phone impair sight, and does a bigger screen reduces this damage?
Also, about the phones, Z and Note II, they are worth?
EDIT: Can someone confirm that the Sony smartphones still can't flash kernel from CWM like the Samsung do?
Thanks
