[Q] root access for a I9003 with I9003XXLE4 ROM - Samsung Galaxy SL i9003

Hello,
I just want to be sure to do the right thing. To be able to use the LINK2SD app I must set the I9003 into root mode. Which is the easiest way to do so?
The ROM version is currently I9003XXLE4.
At http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1351056 I did not find which of the offered version shall I take.
Basically I need to do so cause I want to swap the external sd-card (which I have inserted with 16KG) to the internal sd-card (called usb device).
I found no way way to do so without gettung first root access.
Thankx

Flash this firmware again from a rooted firmware via mobile Odin v2.45....
With the rooting options checked...

... but how do I get the i9003 smartphone in root mode WITHOUT loosing the WLAN features?

I think BCK Kernel works fine ? Not sure though..

Using BCK beta 13 on XXLE4 will leave you with a non-working WiFi module. Please help us test a fix! To do so, follow these instructions:
Flash XXLE4
Flash BCK Universal beta 13
Flash one of these zips

WARNING : ROM Manager

WARNING!!!
Don't use ROM Manager!!!!
It'll brick your phone!!!!

Don't even think of installing ROM Manager on your phone. All it's gonna do is brick your phone....
So my advice is, abstain from using ROM Manager until they officially support our phone.
Till then, use the unofficial port of Clockwork Recovery Mod by tj_style.
the complete package is also attached with this post.
DO NOT FLASH IT ON FROYO!!!
If you need any further assistance, please continue the discussion here.
Download CWM.ZIP here
Edit (17-8-12)
It seems like adityam533 has found a method to make ROM manager work on G-Fit.
For further details, go >>>here<<<
yes thanks for the heads up. anyway, ROM manager does recognize and uploads a rom for Galaxy Mini which is not for Fit. The newest Rom Manager can detect the ported CWM recovery so it might be seeing our phone as Galaxy Mini. Installing from it could brick your phone in the process. Last night I did flashed the Touch enabled CWM recovery thru CWM Recovery Mode from the other post and it worked fine.
Yes... I had corrupted my motherboard...last week

But I still can't understand why rom manager can destroy the motherboard.
If this is the truth, any other rooted android program can do such things to destroy your phone.
I don't think the phone factory might do such a design.
It's too dangerous to use this phone!

Well ROM Manager doesn't, flashing the CWM Recovery with it bricks the phone, my theory is that some of the data gets lost, or maybe the ROM Manager just can't write to the RFS partition, or doesn't support it completely, at least the one on our phone, it formats the whole phone, but that's only my stupid theory =)

Yes, I also think that maybe the cwm recovery bricked my phone, maybe some of the data lost, maybe ....
But why odin can't overwrite all of the mistakes?
There must be somthing that odin can't overwrite but rom manager can write.
What's this?

I suggest you first flash your phone using Odin to XXKPE firmware. Then flash to XXKPQ/KPU (more stable). Download the root file for the installed firmware. You should be ok

No, thats not true. The only ones with bugs are the older roms. XXKPE is old but it's very stable with no bugs. Where did you hear that "XX series" roms are experimental? The "XX" or "DD" letters only indicate the region of the release. In this case "XX" roms are for europe while "DD" roms are for around India and some parts of Asia. However, you can still use roms like XXKPQ and XXKPU world-wide.
For your Rooting problem
Have you tried SuperOneClick? If not, just download the latest version and install. Then make sure debugging mode is ticked on your phone, open superoneclick and connect your phone. Just click Root and wait for phone to restart.
If you've already tried SuperOneClick, Then your best option is to install XXKPE with .pit file. Just follow the steps on this site and upgrade to DDKP3 or XXKPU, then try rooting your phone.

Hi
Not sure if you're issue is fixed so I'll give my 2 cents.
Try cleaning the information of your USB devices using Drive Cleanup [use google ] assuming you have a Windows PC.
Then install latest Kies for latest USB drivers or if your PC is set to get drivers directly from the internet then updated drivers will be installed automatically once you attach your phone.
Hope this helps

[Q] complete procedure for root/unroot for samsung galaxt tab2 p3100

Can anyone please help me in rooting samsung tab2 p3100. I am new to this root method can i get detail procedure for that.
My device : Samsung tab2 p3100 (India)
Android : 4.1.1 (already in the tab, not updated)
Baseband : P3100DDCLK1
Is this root reversible so that my warranty of tab is not affected and how can i unroot.
Rooting procedure can be found in my guide (link in signature). It's easy to unroot if you don't mind wiping data.
Posted from my Fascinate using XDA Premium
To remove Root:
This Root Remover has been tested with the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7" P3100 (tested on jellybean)
REQUIREMENT: A rooted Tab 2.
•After you download this file, move it the root of your external SD card( /mnt/extSdCard ). This is the micro sdcard you insert in tablet slot. Your /mnt/sdcard folder is internal memory (not recognized in CWM recovery).
•Reboot into CWM (recovery) using Quick Boot app or
•Power OFF your tablet, disconnect from computer and restart in recovery (CWM) by pushing and holding POWER & Volume DOWN/LEFT buttons at same time. When Samsung Tab 2 logo appears, you can release power button but continue holding volume button for a few more seconds. Note: If you've done this on other Samsung devices, you will notice that it takes longer before blue CWM v5.5.0.4 text appears ... just be patient.
•Once you are in recovery, use volume button (UP/DOWN/LEFT OR RIGHT) to move around and POWER button to select an option.
Select install zip from sdcard. Choose Root_Remover file you already copied to root of sdcard.
When unrooting is finished, choose reboot system now from CWM menu.
NOTE-By downloading and using this file you understand and agree that you bear all responsibility for the use and anything it may do to your tablet.
DOWNLOAD-
Root_Remover.zip (h--p://www.mediafire.com/?ty54o6lah25w41d)
Replace (--) with tt.
For Root (tested on jellybean):
Use chainfire root its d best i have it.
U can google it or find it on xda search.
Dont use the above method to remove the chainfire root as it can be easily removed from its modified superuser application but it works as any other root and is superb!
Enjoy,
Kunal
Dont forget to hit the thanks button!!

Hey amit i have edited the link in my post n its now working. Yeah dats the correct package use odin to flash it. Dont use this root remover on cf autoroot. Cf autoroot has the option to completely remove the cf root in its own menu. After u have rooted your device, use a root checker(available on play store for free) to check that you device is fully rooted. When u root or flash a custom rom or do anything fishy with ur device using odin, ur warranty gets void as there is a counter in the tab 2 which keeps a record of how many times u have flashed ur firmware wid a custom rom or rooted it or done something fishy. To get your warranty back, use the TriangleAway app (another miracle by chainfire) to reset the flash counter to zero which means u get ur warranty back. Its paid on playstore but is free on his xda page. It only works if ur device is rooted. Nd yes u can move apps to sd after rooting.
Good luck n happy flashing

As you said, I unrooted my tab.
Earlier, I was using official stock 4.1.1
Then I rooted my phone and updated it to cm10 nightly
But that cfw was not good enough (no offense)
To go back to my old stock, I restored my stock which I backedup while updating to cfw via rom manager
Now I wanted to unroot and used the app advised by you
But now when I'm tryin to update my tab using OTA by going under Software Update option in Settings, it is saying following message:
YOUR DEVICE HAS BEEN MODIFIED. SOFTWARE UPDATES ARE NOT AVAILABLE
how to fix this?
Factory reset should fix the issue.

Hey man, sorry for extremely late reply.
To fix this (Do this after unroot only) just connect your tab to kies and then it should recognize your tab and from there you can do the update and after the update you can follow the same root method to root your device. Good luck
PS-I was not able to perform the ota update because of the same problem and used kies to do the same.

[Q] Frustrated looking to Root Samsung GT- I5800 Froyo 2.2

Hi
Ok I know this is an old phone but I hope someone can help .
I've been hunting the forums for an easy way to root my Samsung GT-I5800 running Froyo 2.2.
There's lots of advice on the forums but they are old threads and the links they give to the suggested appllications such as :
Superonclick . z4root , etc don't work or the files are currupt.
I have used Superoneclick on a later samsung phone and it mad the job really easy but the version I have won't work with this phone / android version.
Maybe is some one has a the z4root files they could upload them , or any other suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

In fact the two links direct form the shortfuse website no longer link to the file.
Well im not sure then. Im pretty sure z4root messes up something, and it may be you need to flash a custom rom in odin. Sorry but I cant try anything myself because I dont have the phone anymore (at least for a while).

If not can you suggest a suitable custom rom ?

If not can you suggest a suitable custom rom ?
Thanks

Odin does not require root. You have to get into download mode with a combination of keys. (May be Mobile Odin requires root, I never used it).
Check this thread for Custom roms. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1234591. I would suggest PuruKisadHybrid custom ROM.
Refer to this thread for how to use odin. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1372414
You need to install samsung drivers first.
Hi
Thanks for the information and links.
I was hoping to be able to root without wiping data but I will consider this method.
The odin tutorial was a bit hard to understand but I'll try watching carefully and it may become clear.

you can root without wiping data. Just search for rooting procedure in the forum. But custom ROM gives lot more features for you than stock one.
PS: Please hit thanks if anybody helps you.
Use this and try again

Hi
Thanks for your response .
I've tried two versions of Superoneclick v1.7.00 and 2.3.3.0 and neither work for me.
I've just tried another tool x8toolbox , this gives an error ".... root not applicable to custom rom ..."
If you have a link to another version of Superoneclick I'll try that ?
Thanks .

Hi i had this version of superoneclick 1.7.00 but it worked fine. Make sure u have turned on usb debugging and installed the drivers. Also in case of exploit use rageagainstthecage exploit and not psneuter.
And for drivers consider installing these http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/MOBILES/Samsung/Samsung-Galaxy-S-USB-Driver-for-Windows-x86.shtml
I haven't been able to find a non- data wipe method as varioius versions of superoneclick and other tools aren't working for me on this phone.
Perhaps I'll go down the custom rom route ,
If I can find some good clear instructions .
Thanks for your help.
Thanks for the link.
Unfortunately this one isn't working ether
Generating an excetion which ever exploit option is selected.
I wonder if it is an issue with the phone rather than the tool .
It has allready been hard reset to factory state ?

Has the driver been installed? Which OS you are using?
You need to install proper driver before trying to root. For your info, essentially all rooting methods are non-data wipe.
for instructions check this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12451340

WHAT? This device has no separate recovery partition, neither CF-ROOT Kernel. This is not Galaxy S or S3
z4Root should work on 2.1, for 2.2 the easiest way is to use custom kernel, with it you get custom recovery and via that recovery you can flash some zip with su binary and then get Superuser/SuperSU app. SuperOneClick is buggy with G3.
I've used a ch root so....

when u use the method of flashing .tar file using odin its like unrooting your phone ; flashing the whole firmware in your phone again . in reboot mode or i guess the recovery mode ur talking about where u need to press buttons in ur device to be able to do that. it does the same thing but it just a lot easier than using odin.
but i guess your not rooted so just use the recovery mode or even in your settings option ; there is also factory reset option . but when your rooted, u need to go in odin method ..

Bro,
Power+home key +volume up= recovery mode
In this mode you can factory reset /wipe data/wipe cached partition/install zip etc.
Poeer+home key+volume down= download mode
In this mode can flash any custom rom/recovery etc. Means you can flash .tar file with your computer . But you need odin etc installed on your pc.
Hope this helps... This has nothing to do with rooted or unrooted device.

Since your phone is rooted , even you will flash/install rom or "custom" rom it wont unroot your phone because flashing "custom" rom from the name itself, it is customized by our respected developers to make our device more personalize and so we can do some things in our device that we cant do in our non-rooted phones. you need proper files to remove root in your device its called unrooting or unbricking. Maybe some feauters dont work because of your custom rom or any system app you accidentally deleted. to correct it , you can do factory reset but since it didnt work you can try to restore your backup if you ever made one. But i suggest to unroot your device or return it to its stock to be sure so you can really start all over again...
you can easily search how to unroot your phone.
