[Q] combined bar at the top? - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there anyway to move the combined / menu bar (whatever it's called!) from the bottom of the Xoom to the top? Being a lefty, I seem to keep hitting back or home by accident when using it!
Currently using CM9, but am willing to try different ROMs if necessary (have tried EOS, but that didn't do it either).

I remember a while back that user "runandhide05" used to have a flashable zip that moved the combo bar(?) to the top of the screen for EOS roms. However, I think it is no longer available.
Even if you look for it, I think it was for the older EOS nightlies, and probably wouldn't work with the newer ones.

Experiencing Something Strange....

At the time I had Vegan Ginger Experimental running and the VT Launcher Beta. Everything was working just fine (or as fine as an exp. could run), then I thought to check Vegan-Tab's site http://vegantab.gojimi.com/2011/02/24/new-boot-animation/ just to see if any updates had been posted, and noticed a newer version of the VT Launcher (Beta 1.3) had been uploaded (or Im just an idiot and it was the same version) , so I decided to install the newer? version... this is where the strangeness incurs.
Instead of just installing the newer launcher over the one I had, for some reason I uninstalled the one I had then installed the other. Please note that at this time I had VT Launcher set as my default launcher (not sure if that would matter). After the install, I hit the Home button and all Hell broke out.
- It seemed like my touch capabilities (atleast on the screen, 4 side buttons still worked) just stopped working
- The window that pop ups from a long press on the Home page (wallpaper, shortcuts, etc..) kept popping up on its own, and everytime I would hit the Home side button (all I could do), the window would go away but would come back after bout a second... everytime.
Initially I thought no big deal, I made multiple backups for different ROMs and thought just re-flasing a ROM or using a backup to restore a previous ROM would fix the issue, no dice...
I tried:
- Re-flashing VTab Ginger Exp. (yes, with proper kernel)
- Flashing other ROMs (TnT 4.25, Vegan 5.1.1, even the Stock 3588)
- Restoring previous backups (all ROMs listed above)
- All the while changing the kernel used depending on the ROM (Ginger/Froyo)
- I used all the steps Ive read about in installing a ROM on each flash/restore
(Wipe Factory/Reset & Cache, Mount System/Data/Cache, Format S/D/C)
- Even tried clearing Delvik and resetting Battery Stats
Everything I tried resulted in the same symptoms:
- My Touch capabilities not working (or atleast ~98% not working, very strange)
- The long press on Home Screen window constantly popping up
I dont understand how uninstalling a default launcher and reinstalling the same launcher could cause this across multiple flashes/restores but that is when this began. I have the touch calibration zip used in cwm somewhere on my laptop and will be trying this next, just not sure if it will make any difference.
Sorry for the long post, just thought if I listed all the symptoms I observed, this would hopefully ring a bell for someone who experienced the same thing, or atleast would know what I could try next. Thanks for any help!!
Edit: I posted this in the Vegan Ginger thread, sorry for the double post but wasnt sure where it should go since my issue spans any ROM Ive tried (although it originated in Vegan Ginger). So available forum mod, do what you must. Thanks

EaglesBlood ROM Complaint

First of all, I know this is in the wrong section but that's because I have not made 10 posts yet.
Now onto the complaints and recommendations.
1. Lock screen is tedious. There is no way for the lock screen to activate. Even when I reboot, the phone just completely bypasses the lock screen. I don't even know how the developers have missed that. It is such a fundamental function and I can't even use it.
2. Home button loses functionality. My home button doesn't work. So every time I want to go to my home screen, I need to press "back" a million times. Fix it?
3. Create on-screen buttons. Like what the Genesis ROM has. You can choose to have Galaxy Nexus's digital buttons.
4. Quad-circle lock screen is cut off. You never fully see the circles when you selected one of the four. Do what Hellfire ROM did and make it a semicircle.
The first two are just deal breakers for me at times. But the only reason I have this ROM is that it is the only one that can call, and that's why EaglesBlood is pretty good. I hope the above recommendations/criticisms will be seen by the developers because it will greatly benefit many people. Thanks.
Your lock screen may be disabled under security settings. Have you checked that?
The lock screen issue, and particularly the home button, indicate that you likely have a bad flash. Redownload the rom and wipe, wipe, wipe, reflash. If this were a ROM related issue it would be expected that there would be at least one other mention of the first two issues in the ROM's thread. Bad flashes or downloads are not uncommon. Try again, see if they persist. And be careful restoring things through Titanium Backup.
Why would you want the digital buttons taking up space on the screen when we have perfectly functional ones?
I agree completely about the quad-lock.
everything besides the quad lock screen being cut off sounds like user error, and if you don't like it then use another rom... not trying to be rude as you will take this, but how many people report that the roms "home" button doesn't work? How many people post that there is no lock screen (and how did you see the lock screen being cut off if you can not see the lock screen? You can use any rom to make calls if you go to Owain's thread and get the "new_baseband" zip he created
all you need to do is properly install the rom or maybe redownload as it may have been corrupted during the download.
Just like ladygagadisco, I realize that this is the wrong section, but I don't have 10 posts yet... And just like her (I am assuming gender based on name), I have all the same troubles. And this is now the third time I have downloaded the ROM and installed it. So, I guess this question is directed towards her... did you ever get this fixed?
I will try one more time and hope like it hell that it works.

Well it seems that the fourth time was the charm. The home button now works.
I'm running the GB EB 2.3.7 ROM and I think it's the best for my phone so far.
Being in Canada with Videotron I had issues with some other ROM's. I tried EB's ICS 4.0.4 ROM but for me not to be able to record Video (known issue due to NVIDIA not releasing drivers for Tegra2 for ICS) and not getting voicemail notification were a big deal for me so I downgraded to EB GB ROM.
I have not used or verified your option 3 & 4 but 1 & 2 worked in both EB ROM's I installed.
Do a full wipe. EB is the most stable former. No problems aside from the known bugs

[Q] AOKP Question

Installed the latest AOKP Rom a couple of days ago, really brought this tablet alive IMHO. One slight annoyance that I probably caused myself and just haven't been able to figure out what I did. I now have a small blue bar under the home screen button. I don't remember it being there when I first loaded the Rom, but it might have been. Is this by default or does anyone know how I can remove it?
Its the battery bar disable it in the rom control settings

[Q] [HELP] Notification drawer minor graphical issue

Hello! I'm running KK 4.4, rooted and unlocked. I recently had installed a couple of mods, most notably this mod to give me a battery percentage number. Well I installed the back-to-stock files provided by those developers in anticipation of installing Xposed. But inbetween, I noticed that my notification drawer didn't have a complete gray bar across the top (see screenshot, and picture of what it should look like).
After installing Xposed and GravityBox for KK, I tried using the notification drawer color fill option to see if that would correct or override it, but that completely filled the drawer, hiding everything in it. I could still click buttons, but could not see them. So I reversed that, but still have the gap in the bar. Edit: Seems I had to choose "underlay" as an option for the color fill, so it's unrelated/not an issue as far as that goes.
It seems like a minor thing, but given how the color fill reacted in addition to now having this gap, I'm worried that there may be other issues I could run into. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions on how I could fix this, hopefully without reinstalling the OS?
Edit: Attached another screenshot better illustrating what's happening.
I'm having the same issues running franco kernel. Any help would be appreciated. Dirty flash does nothing for me.
EDIT: I was able to solve this by flashing this battery percent mod, you might want to give it a try:

Thanks, but I just came back to say that I completely wiped the phone and put a stock ROM back on.

[ISSUES] Nexus 5 - (Dirty Unicorns MOD)

Argh, the frustration settles in ever so slightly with an inability to perform various tasks. I had wanted to post this in the developers thread for the Custom Rom I'm using, though I require ten posts apparently, aha. Apologies if this isn't in a correct section, though I'm fairy new here.
Tbh I've got no idea if anything will/can get answered due to not being in the thread for the Custom Rom but yeah, here goes.
Phone: Nexus 5 32GB Black.
ROM: Dirty Unicorns 4.4.2
1.) In the Notification Drawer, when I swipe it down for the quick settings, I have it so Wifi/Data/Location is on, and Bluetooth is off. Though when I actually open the settings menu: Wifi/Data/Location and Bluetooth is on and when I turn Bluetooth off from the settings, Location gets turned off in the quick settings drawer. This only happens on occasion, I'm thinking it's more of a glitch/bugged issue.
2.) There's no HDR in the Google Camera/seems to obtain focus slower?
3.) With expanded mode enabled, it often comes up with the tutorials telling me that I can swipe down from the top.
4.) A few games like Candy Crush no longer work/installs; saying that my device is incompatible (before DU it was working no dramas.)
5.) Adobe Flash doesn't work (can't stream from 'project-free-tv') apparently it's no longer supported on Android 4.4.2? By using ( cultofandroid.com /49840 ) it works though. Idealistically I'd rather have the one browser (Chrome) installed if possible.
6.) The app "DSP Manager" that comes with DU seems to make no difference/effect regardless of settings used.
7.) When having the time displayed in the status bar, it often overlaps other notifications/icons. Would be nice if we could set it to the left instead of just centered/right alignment.
i can help you with a few of ur questions but im not dirtyunicorns so i cant help with others any way
2.)it sounds like you flashed a normal gapps the stock package is the the one with hdr+ or you can flash the p.a. add on its in the 0day gapps thread
3.) thats a little bug ive experienced with most roms(even stock)
5.) use dolphin browser also search for how to use flash on kitkat.
7.)thats why you dont get center clock on stock its one of the issues with center clock there may be an xposed module to switch it to the left side i'm not sure
