EaglesBlood ROM Complaint - T-Mobile LG G2x

First of all, I know this is in the wrong section but that's because I have not made 10 posts yet.
Now onto the complaints and recommendations.
1. Lock screen is tedious. There is no way for the lock screen to activate. Even when I reboot, the phone just completely bypasses the lock screen. I don't even know how the developers have missed that. It is such a fundamental function and I can't even use it.
2. Home button loses functionality. My home button doesn't work. So every time I want to go to my home screen, I need to press "back" a million times. Fix it?
3. Create on-screen buttons. Like what the Genesis ROM has. You can choose to have Galaxy Nexus's digital buttons.
4. Quad-circle lock screen is cut off. You never fully see the circles when you selected one of the four. Do what Hellfire ROM did and make it a semicircle.
The first two are just deal breakers for me at times. But the only reason I have this ROM is that it is the only one that can call, and that's why EaglesBlood is pretty good. I hope the above recommendations/criticisms will be seen by the developers because it will greatly benefit many people. Thanks.

Your lock screen may be disabled under security settings. Have you checked that?
The lock screen issue, and particularly the home button, indicate that you likely have a bad flash. Redownload the rom and wipe, wipe, wipe, reflash. If this were a ROM related issue it would be expected that there would be at least one other mention of the first two issues in the ROM's thread. Bad flashes or downloads are not uncommon. Try again, see if they persist. And be careful restoring things through Titanium Backup.
Why would you want the digital buttons taking up space on the screen when we have perfectly functional ones?
I agree completely about the quad-lock.

everything besides the quad lock screen being cut off sounds like user error, and if you don't like it then use another rom... not trying to be rude as you will take this, but how many people report that the roms "home" button doesn't work? How many people post that there is no lock screen (and how did you see the lock screen being cut off if you can not see the lock screen? You can use any rom to make calls if you go to Owain's thread and get the "new_baseband" zip he created
all you need to do is properly install the rom or maybe redownload as it may have been corrupted during the download.

Just like ladygagadisco, I realize that this is the wrong section, but I don't have 10 posts yet... And just like her (I am assuming gender based on name), I have all the same troubles. And this is now the third time I have downloaded the ROM and installed it. So, I guess this question is directed towards her... did you ever get this fixed?
I will try one more time and hope like it hell that it works.

Well it seems that the fourth time was the charm. The home button now works.

I'm running the GB EB 2.3.7 ROM and I think it's the best for my phone so far.
Being in Canada with Videotron I had issues with some other ROM's. I tried EB's ICS 4.0.4 ROM but for me not to be able to record Video (known issue due to NVIDIA not releasing drivers for Tegra2 for ICS) and not getting voicemail notification were a big deal for me so I downgraded to EB GB ROM.
I have not used or verified your option 3 & 4 but 1 & 2 worked in both EB ROM's I installed.

Do a full wipe. EB is the most stable former. No problems aside from the known bugs

garyd9's custom kernel feedback

I wanted to post this in the development section as feedback for garyd9's revised kernel for the P6210, but since I am new with fewer than 10 posts, I cannot do so. I PM'd Gary, he suggested I post it here. So here it is:
I have a P6210 and installed your custom kernel_20120101 and it worked beautifully. The tab was very stable, and battery life is better, as you indicated. I then installed kernel_20120105, and the tab immediately started having sleep of death problems. I would shut off the screen, set it down, and next time I came back to it, I had to do a hard reset by holding the power button ~20 seconds and reboot it. This happened consistently. I then tried kernel_20120107, and had charging issues. The tab got very warm while charging from the AC adapter. Uncomfortably warm. I have no idea if this was related to the kernel update, or just a one-time fluke. I am just relaying my experience. Anyway, the heat freaked me out, so I immediately downgraded back to kernel_20120101, and my tab is completely stable again.
Thanks for the work you do on this.... They are cool devices, and it's nice to be able to play with them.
Thanks.

I want to add that I am not running setcpu...
I'm willing to try the newer kernel updates again, or provide any other info Gary may need.
Thx
Can you check which version of the samsung firmware you are using? Does it end with "KL1" or something else?
I'm wondering if it might have been a bad flash or some other fluke. Here are the differences (with comments) between the 1st and 5th:
android ram_console support - this could do something unpredictable, but shouldn't. Basically, what this does is on boot up, it asks the kernel to reserve a VERY specific location and size of memory, and writes kernel messages here. On the next reboot, the kernel will check that exact chunk of memory and if certain headers are in place, it will stick a copy in /proc/last_kmsg. In this way, I might be able to see the kernel messages (including any panic) from the previous boot. Of course, the memory often gets trashed between the two boots, so this doesn't always work. Anyway, if something else is trying to use the exact same memory, it could cause problems (but it would cause the same problems for everyone with the same model tablet...)
bootanimation: This isn't actually a kernel change, but a modification to the init script that checks to see if a bootanimation file is present and if so it'll run samsung's own "bootanimation" binary instead of samsung's "samsungani" binary. In either case, the process is killed when the lock screen is first presented.
conservative governor stuff: As you aren't using setCPU, you are still using 'ondemand' so this stuff would have NO impact.
---
Honestly, the issue reported kind of surprises me. The kernel I'd expect to give people problems would be the 0101 one, as I mess with clock speeds and voltages in there. Since then, the changes have been very light. Can you try to delete any copies of Jan07 you might have sitting around, completely redownload it, and reflash it? Let me know if you have the same (or different) issues.
If you do have issues, use the market app called "OS Monitor" to export the dmesg log (while you are having the issue or immediately afterwards, but before rebooting.) Upload the exported log here (or somehow get it to me) with a full description of what was happening, if it was occuring during the time you exported the log (or how long previous to exported it occured), etc.
At that point, go ahead and revert to whichever kernel you are comfortable with and I'll study the log and try to see whats going on over the weekend.
Take care
Gary
Gary,
I flashed "GT-P6210 for US RETAIL" from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1367478
Here's a screencap.
http://woodsware.aciwebs.com/galaxy_capture_01.png
I'll try the 20120107 kernel again, and let you know. It may be tonight....
Thanks!
i flashed the new kernel last night, and i haven't really had a chance to test it, but i did do some reading on the SOD deal, and i have my wifi set to "sleep when screen off" and i left home an hour ago, just pulled out my tab plus and BAM, fired right up.
I did want to ask you one request, any chance of implementing "smartassv2"? i'm gotten so lazy and spoiled with it...i never got around learning how to set profiles and junk, so this always helped me out...

Okay, that's the older KK3 firmware. Here's what I'd like for you to do (if you could):
1. reflash that from the ODIN thread. That should revert recovery, the kernel, etc. Then attach your tablet to your PC and let Kies run to update the firmware to KL1. It would really be best if your firmware was updated BEFORE changing kernels. There are a couple reasons for this, but most importantly so that we are talking about the same thing (I've only ever tested these kernels with KL1.)
2. Make sure Kies has updated your firmware... settings->about->build number should show something like HTJ85B.UEKL1.P6210UEKL1. If Kies updates the firmware to something beyond "KL1" (if the number is greater than 1 or the last letter is beyond "L") then STOP, reply to this post letting me know the build number. (I'll want to revert my own tablet to stock and get it on the latest build for testing.)
3. Then go ahead and start playing with kernels - you will hopefully be good to go. if not, let me know.
Take care
Gary

Please post this in the proper thread (in the DEV subforum.) I asked rswoods to post his question here in general as he can't post in DEV yet (doesn't yet have 10 posts), but I wanted the "public" to see the troubleshooting steps in case others have similar issues, etc. (I can't complain that people aren't searching for answers if the answers are hidden in PM's.)
Oh, and probably not. The same can be accomplished with SetCPU profiles, and I'm working hard to REDUCE the kernel footprint.
Take care
Gary
Gary,
OK... I reflashed the stock ROM, updated to KL1 through Kies, installed p6210_CWMR_20120107.zip, then flashed your 20120107 kernel. So far so good.
I'll see how it goes the next few days and report back.
Thanks for the help!
Gary,
Things are mostly good, but I'm still getting infrequent SOD's. I never know when it will happen... It will wake successfully several times in a row, but every once in awhile require the long press reboot.

SOD's are unsolved. The majority of people having them are using the stock firmware and kernel (and replacing the kernel with mine doesn't seem to help whatsoever.) There's a thread dedicated to the subject here - you might find it interesting reading.
I'm glad the other issues you were experiencing have gone away...

Gary
Things are running great for me.

[Q] Some Phone Issues (If you have some smarts please advice)

I have been having trouble with my i727 over the past few weeks. It has shown 3 different problems which are really starting to bug me. The three problems are not related but I have condensed them into one thread. Please pardon me as I am pretty noobish with the software end of things.
1. Glitchy when charging. Any time I plug in a charger the screen and softkeys freeze up. I have to hold the power button for a while to get it to unlock. When it is not frozen. The screen is messed up. Sometimes I tap with one finger or slide to unlock and it zooms as if in multitouch. One time I tried to dial a 3 in a phone number and it dialed 374 just randomly on its own. I don't know if the charger is messing something up in this. Note: This started happening after I rooted for the first time but has been consistent through the many roms I have had. I'm pretty sure its not skyics. Do I need to call ATT for this
2. Also my GPS has been taking a really long time to fix if not at all. I normally use it in maps but if I open a simple gps coordinates read out app. Sometimes the GPS fails to start. I don't know if it is a skyics issue or if I have a hardware issue. Any input would be helpful
3. Lastly, its not really a big deal and is probably a simple fix but I have tried everything. I use dolphin browser and everytime I search google it thinks I am in canada and no matter how many times a change it. It always reverts to canada.
If you have experienced these issues or if you know why they are being caused please let me know because I don't know what they could be. My phone (should) still be under warranty (if you ignore the root) so I may want to call ATT especially if its a hardware prblem

It sounds like a bad flash and you may want to wipe and reflash. As for the GPS I am on Sky ICS 6B and the GPS is glitchy frequently. For example today I wanted to look up directions to a restaurant down the street and the GPS thought I was 2,000 miles away in Vegas (I wish lol). I tryed it again tonight and the gps is working. I don't know how to fix the gps problem and we may just have to wait for updates in the rom, but as for the other systems it sounds like a bad flash as I described before. Anyone else think this?

First if you are on a Custom Rom, try updating it or reinstall the current rom. Delete Caches, and try again
for GPS, Maybe try another GPS app such as my favorite CoPilot
And for browsers I would switch to another browser, I am currently test three at the moment, Chrome, Puffin, and Opera. I must say Puffin is simple and fast, while I use opera on my Desktop so I would prefer Opera. Try it out might just be the browser.
Could be just settings in the browser that is set to Canada English Language settings.
Well I hope I helped some what. :cyclops:

I've had the exact same problem with the GPS on Sky ICS 6B, and I thought it was just me because no one has listed it as a known issue! I guess it's time to try a different ROM.
As far as the glitches while charging - are you using the supplied Samsung charger that came with the phone? This phone is highly sensitive to ANY other charger not designed specifically for the i727.

I find the opposite in my experience. When using my Samsung charger (usually at weird angles though because charge & use while in bed) it disconnects rather often , while my Atrix 2 charger stays connected without issue. As I said though it may just be the obnoxious angles the cord gets put in. As for the GPS I was also surprised to see little to no complaints about issues with it.

1. There's a few posts over in the ICS threads that talk about charging issues. Do a search for those (stock charger, etc) and see if any of the symptoms match yours.
Frankly, I think you have a bad flash, as someone else mentioned. IMO its best that you backup your pics, videos, music, etc, then wipe both your internal and external SD cards, then load ICS on your ext SD and start over completely from the beginning. No restoring backups from TB, either. Take the extra time and reload everything from the app store and set them up manually.
Case in point, Seanscreamz mentioned in the 4.0.4 thread that he accidentally wiped his emmc (internal SD) and after reload it fixed some glitchy weirdness.
2 & 3 are related. Your browser is using your map data, and so does your GPS if you have that turned on in settings. Fix one, you fix the other. I had the GPS issue in SkyICS as well. Go into the maps app, clear data and clear cache. Immediately reboot the phone into recovery, wipe dalvik and cache from there. Reboot. Since the phone has to rebuild the davlik cache, it takes awhile to come back up.
That fixed my issue (even if some steps were unnecessary, it can't hurt).
If you do flatten and reload the phone, don't forget to install Busybox and run Fix Permissions after you install the update.
Good luck!

AndroidRevolta > VI ?

I'm not yet cool enough to post in the actual ROM thread, so here I am...
I really liked the VI ROM, but always had troubles with random lockups, reboots, and 'Process messaging has stopped working' (or something similar to that which occured at nearly every single SMS send attempt). I also didnt like the Quick Boot thing in VI. Sure, I could have fixed these issues, but I don't possess such skillz as yet.
So, I notice today a new ROM (AndroidRevolta [perhaps a more appealign name might be in order? ]) has been released and based on the VI ROM, and would like to know from either the dev / chef, or users, if;
a) using the power button only, can I get an option to boot to recovery, or do I still have to click 'Quick Boot' (which IMHO is anything but), and
b) was anything done to resolve the issue with 'messaging has stopped' ?
XDA policy states that I am not to ask for 'thanks' clicks so that I may one day be deemed cool enough to post in the dev thread, so I won't.
Funny. VI got me addicted to quick boot. Use it on every Rom I flash. Save the power button a bit.

Extreme Lag, plus other issues since Jellybean Install

Purchased my Droid Razr HD on launch day and I must say I was in love with the phone on ICS. Was extremely excited when the JB update hit. But since I updated, my phone has been a complete mess. I have been patient in hopes it would fix itself, but below are some of the issues.
When I unlock the phone, the clock in the circle widget lags, so I will unlock, it will say 2:00 for a solid second or two, then update to 2:10. The time should not lag like that. It basically lags and adjusts every time I unlock it. If I haven't touched my phone in 45 minutes, I'll unlock, it will say 2:00, then two seconds goes by and it updates to 2:45
When I hit messaging to view my texts, all of my contacts show up as just phone numbers, then after a few seconds the names load. If I scroll down further they are still numbers then switch to names.
The browser goes unresponsive. Everything from inability to swap tabs, to hitting a link. Usually I'll force stop chrome.
Overall the entire phone experiences major lag issues. Typing, swapping apps, etc... Anyone else experience this? Could the phone have just downloaded the OS poorly?

It's seriously making me want to dump this phone.
Indeed there is lag. Here's a funny thing, I get lag using the stock launcher and swiping the page from left to right with the any of the stock image wallpapers loaded.
However, if I use a live wallpaper (say Phase Beam) the swiping from left to right with the live wallpaper active is blisteringly quick.. How fcuked up is that?
I am having the same issue. I factory reset the phone before flashing JB. I also have times that the phone is completely unresponsive and requires a hard reboot. Any ideas?
there is definite lag when scrolling over to the quick settings page, idk why motorola can't get that fixed. My big complaint is the lack of stock android browser. I hate chrome, its slow compared to the aosp browser. I actually bought another Galaxy Nexus and am going back to that. Will miss the battery life though. You could always use the utility in the dev section to go back to ICS though
I used the utility to go back to ICS. I didn't have lag issues, actually my phone on JB was much faster and smoother. I went back because of all of the features missing from JB. For instance:
1) Motorola keyboard (much better than the AOSP keyboard in JB IMO)
2) Manage internal storage feature (gone in JB)
3) Wired headphone equalizer in ICS works on anything coming out of the headphone jack. (In JB it only works in the music app)
4) Also there is a bug where if you are listening to music through headphones and get a text message, the notification only comes through at less than half volume and there is no pause in the music. I have missed several text messages because of this. Even if i know the sms is coming through and i see it appear on the screen i still can't hear it over the music
I'm sure there were a few more things i am missing, but those were enough for me to switch back.
same lagg here
on ics, adw launcher heped with my lagg, but on jb, doesnt seem to matter what launcher i use, lagg everywhere. unlocking is annoying and sms app takes a bit to populate. cant wait for a solid cm 10.1 for this. I feel like its the only fix.
I would have thoght since motorola is owned by google, the os would be as good as the nexus. NOT even close
Not the ideal solution, but have you guys tried doing a full wipe factory reset and/or wiping the cache partition?
My Razr HD has just started developing a "dim" screen from waking after a long period. Not sure if this is software or hardware, it doesnt happen all the time - maybe once a day - but I have to go to the display settings and check/uncheck the auto brightness box to fix it....
Any of you out there having a similar issue??
I installed nova launcher prime and it is extremely smooth.

What? I tried to get to the stock recovery, but I cannot seem to get past the "dead android" screen no matter what button combination I try.
Edit: you have to be really precise when holding down the volume up and down buttons lol
Is it hold down the power/lock button, then tap volume up? Think that's the combo on my Nexus S
I've been trying to figure out this lag thing too...I really dislike lag. I disabled Google Now & disabled the Verizon Apps as previously suggested. I also think I may have found something awesome:
It may be premature, but I believe I've found a way to get rid of almost all lag. I installed this apk called Seeder.
My lag pretty much gone. I've been disappointed in EVERY Android phone I've ever had (because of lag)...this seems to have fixed it.
I installed the leak the second it was confirmed to be the legit Verizon approved build and the lag for me was comparable if not slightly better than ICS. Nova Launcher is good though, you lose the settings menu that always lags the first time you swipe to it, but you can replace that with Power toggles for the pull-down menu.
What you're experiencing seems much worse than what I remember because the phone was still highly usable, just not perfect. I was never a big fan of Circles, even after removing it from my home screen it would find its way into my list of running processes till I froze it with titanium backup. I froze virtually all the Verizon crap that'd run constantly too and the phone has been nearly flawless since installing Nova.
Also came across several sites I need to access for work that render horribly slow on Chrome like Hawaii'sVIP, it just chugs along like a slide show. Dolphin Browser on the other hand renders heavily populated pages almost instantly. It also looks truly hardware accelerated during rapid zooming and scrolling, where Chrome often jumps around and loads the page in chunks.

NamelessROM logs for Dhiru

Hi Dhiru,
As a "new" user I'm not allowed to post on development forums so I'll left my logs to you here.
Since two or three nightlies ago I'm facing random wifi blocks, it simply doesn't activate. The problem resist reboot, cache and dalvik wipe and also one clean install. Another problem facing in the last nightly (20140710) is a few crashes of launcher and camera app simply not opening. Logs are attached. I'll read more about them to do better logs and simplify your good job with the rom. Thank you.

Now I'm running 20140712 with no camera and no wi-fi. There are attached log from 20140710 (or maybe 20140711 I'm not sure) working wifi and 20140712 with no camera and no wifi.
Regards.
Camera working again in 20140715 but too less ram.

Hi, i've got 140mb ram free after using the zRam advice in this page:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2762873&page=15
Encryption Issue
one of the major issues in Nameless is the impossibility to encrypt the device, to be more precise, when i tap "encrypt device" appears the droid logo but nothing more happens (it should immediately reboot and show a percentage of progress). if i press the back (return) button it return to settings but status bar disappears, the only way to make it come back is to hold center button and remove encryption from backgroud process.
I'd like to know where is the problem
I experimented a reboot in while opening whatsapp in 20140718. Here is the log.
I swapped off the zRam but it still not going smooth. Thank you Articadrake for the advice. I had the same issue as you trying to encrypt when I was using CM11. Then I didn't try again. I think this is a feature of the rom, the same as screen recording but incompatible in a not powerful device as Galaxy SCL is.
I hope they read it also and being useful.
You may post logs in correct thread, dont think Dhiru is looking for anything in general section.

We really would like, but we are noobs and cannot post in the developer area. As soon as we will reach the 10 post required, we'll be very happy to write in the dedicated thread.
Last weekly issues
Since last weekly release I've sperimented frequent freezes (10-15sec) and then screen goes black and back to lockscreen with all the previous opened apps close! Am I the only one?

With today nightly, camera zoom fx freezes the phone and make camera (in any app) unusable and the system became unstable such as, passw lock screen freezes after typing the code and goes back to lock screen.... So you type again and freezes.... Till you reboot phone.
With last nightly every time phone entered deep sleep mode, it become impossibile to wake up, tried every button, tried shakung (sometimes worked in the past) now only thing was to remove battery. I had installed "screen off" app to tap and switch off screen without pressing power button. Uninstalled and went back to nandroid backup of 18/7. Everything works fine now, no more problems, only some random 15sec freezes but acceptable
