Not sure if anyone has had this problem but I'm seeing some really odd issues, sometimes the screen starts moving really quick almost like flickering but from left to right as if I'm holding finger on the screen and moving it extremely fast. Sometimes it seems like touch screen doesn't work until I hit power and menu right after, also randomly core apps would crash.
I'm on jf1.42 rc33.
are you using any themes? I've encountered similar problems, but only after flashing multiple themes without wiping. i've never had any problems after a fresh wipe and reflash of JF 1.1*.

i'm having similar problems but wasn't sure if something i did screwed it up, i was getting random core apps crashing on 1.41 RC33 and to test a script i wrote and an app made by another i completely wiped every thing to where the phone wouldn't start at all, i achieved this with adb shell wipe all
i wouldn't suggest doing that unless you have an update.zip waiting to be flashed to your phone, i put the phone back to warrenty standards and then started EVERYTHING all over so i could test the things i wanted to. when i finished testing i rooted and put 1.42 on and it seemed a little better all day until it popped up and phone process, settings, and core all three crashed at the same time about 30 minutes ago. my flash was 100% clean as there was nothing on the phone at all including OS, i completely wiped the system partition and data and refused to flash my nandroid back up since i didn't want the same problems. i hope someone else knows what's going on and we can fix this
I went from stock rc 30, rooted, JF RC 30, Themes (many), RC 33,JF ADP 1.1, then back to RC 33.
I had an issue of contacts not syncing, and the import contacts from sim caused a core force close.
So i did a freash install of JF 1.43 RC33 and it worked again. No screen problems but I did have a few core apps force closing. It hasnt happened since my last install of RC 33. Im running a modified theme now, my own with very little changes.

No themes, if I do a wipe, what happens with paid apps that I have installed does anyone know?
Looks like it was the related to multi touch, after doing another wipe and installing a build with out multi touch the problem went away no more rapid screen movement and apps are not crashing
I have cyanogens latest rom installed. I tried all the previous versions as well and I keep
having the same problem.
My Touch screen on my MyTouch3g keeps, for lack of a better description, going to sleep. I can still use the multi touch zoom function in the browser, but I cannot screen flick or get the icons to respond. I can hold the bottom of the screen and turn off and on and sometimes this will repair the problem. It seems to recur randomly. Is there any place to look in the log file to see what is causing this? I'm at a total loss after 6 or so roms and still no go. I tried the stripped down rom labeled TMO-OTA-US-DRC83-Rooted_update and also the expansion pack to no avail. I can't really believe this is hardware related since it's random and fixes with a power cycle most times. I'm just finding it annoying as hell, and I hope someone might be able to point me in the right direction.
I've done the bootloader flash/delete data and re-installed each time.
Latest rom from Cyanogen isCyanogen mod 4.2.4
Kernel version is 2.6.29.6-cm42 (does this matter? I include because I'm not sure)
Thanks
Mike
Maybe this will help
look for a post on how to install cyanogen rom on your MTY3 and dowlaod the rooted rom there.
secondly,
see this thread and the last post from me.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=583683
I've done multiple re-installs. The same problem keeps resurfacing within minutes.
I can use the touch screen and then it craps out. Oddly it will many times still allow pinch and zoom multi-touch in the browser. But single touch, such as in typing web addresses etc. , does not work.
Does anyone have an idea as to why this might be happening? Is there a particular file that is escaping the wipe/ reboot and reload process that is still not being replaced.
I'm curious if the Kernel has anything to do with this.
Any ideas?
Mike.
try redownloading the rom and the htc image like redownloading from the source wipe the ext erior partition as well pretty much completely restart the process except keep root lol... if that doesnt work then you need to unroot and reroot the bad boy all a learning experiance
Wipe the exterior partition? Doesn't this occur when I do a wipe/data? I have never partitioned the sd card. It has been the same since I received it. Will this affect the screen behavior?
Thanks for the input
Mike
oh well I figured you would be running apps2sd which requires a exterior partition or ext2/3/4 as some may call it... most roms require a wipe of that as some storage will transfer to there and cause problems ona seperate rom for some but if yours is a fresh sdcard then the only thing I can suggest is get a redownload of the cyan rom
Firstly I'd like to thank PSYCHO13OI on the #cyanogenmod IRC channel for spending quite a bit of his time helping me out. I thought I might just throw my problem out there.
I received my new HTC Magic a few days ago, but spent quite a few days prior researching different ROMs.
I've got a 32A that came from 3 Australia.
Firstly, a summary of what I originally did.
After receiving my phone and playing around with the original ROM;
1) I fastbooted into: recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.5.2H.img.
2) I wiped data, and wiped a non-existant ext partition.
3) I partitioned the SD card using 32MB swap-size and a 256MB ext partition. Further I used ext2 -> ext3.
4) Loaded and flashed the following in order:
- DRC83_base_defanged
- update-cm-4.2.11.1-signed
5) Rebooted.
After 30 minutes of the original boot splash screen, I took the battery out (I couldn't, and still can't, figure out how to hard power off) and re-fastbooted into the recovery image.
6) I reperformed steps 1-4, this time actually flashing the kernel port: bc-4.2.11.1-ebi1-signed. I also repartitioned the SD card using a swap size of 256MB and ext partition of 1024MB and went from ext2 -> ext3 -> ext4.
7) Rebooted again.
8) When I get to the "Touch the android to begin." screen, I got this error message:
Sorry!
The process com.android.
phone has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
My only option is to force close which still allows me to touch the android and proceed as normal. Otherwise, everything seemed fine and dandy.
A few days later I decided to try using the Camera and Camcorder apps. This caused a reboot. This did not happen on the original ROM.
After the reboot I noticed that the home screen hung after trying to swipe my home screen. This eventually lead to the error message (after 10 seconds or so):
Sorry!
Activity Home(in process
android.process.acore) is not
responding.
I was prompted with the option to either force close or wait. Choosing either will restore complete functionality in 20-30 seconds.
Now this happens after every reboot (and I'm uncertain whether or not it is related to the Camera issue).
Trying to fix both issues, I repeated the flashing process, this time wiping the dalvik-cache as well.
Still no go. I've made the logcats of the first boot after reflashing CM 4.2.11.1 as well as a reboot. I have also linked my last_kmsg after rebooting due to the Camera app crash.
1st Boot: http://pastebin.com/m356cf97e
Reboot: http://pastebin.com/m69a15127
last_kmsg: http://pastebin.com/m76c42ee6
This camera issue is touched on here: http://code.google.com/p/cyanogenmod/issues/detail?id=792
As for the Camera issue, similar to the OP in the above thread, I only have issues when on battery power. However, I do not have any issues in other apps that utilize the camera such as barcode readers.
Things I have not tried:
- Another CM version.
- Wiping battery information or anything else other than data/ext partition/dalvik-cache.
- Reflashing an original ROM (which I did not backup - my friend's Magic is coming in the next week or so, so I'll grab his image).
Hopefully I've documented everything important (and perhaps trivial). I'm open to any suggestions.
EDIT: Some things I forgot to mention.
- 8GB Class 4 SD card
- Added details to my original post about partition sizes/types.
It seems I was wrong about rebooting only in the default Camera and Camcorder apps as I just recently experienced a reboot on the Barcode Scanner app.
Perhaps try an older version of cm. I had more stability on some of the older releases
What would be one of the more stable versions?
i always find CM has better themes and mods "BUT" the rom is laggy. in fact, amon's rom is fast and clean but not much of any theming. wasted.

i'm back to 4.2.9.1 atm because it's a little less buggy. something like that or 4.2.8.1 or 7.1 maybe? go for the .1 versions because they will contain bug fixes for any known issues in the first release at that number...
I have that problem too... but I don't get it as often now. maybe once in a blue moon.....
there is two things I notice that when the reboot happens in the camera mode.
1) there are too much tasks running (you can notice it because the phone runs a little laggy, or if you check Taskskiller and the memory running low)
2) the audible selection is turn on
so now I watch taskskiller before I used the camera and reboot deson't happen that often, specially with the audible selection turn off.
let me know if you guy discover some other fix....
I wonder why in the world did you make such a big swap partition, since you have a 32A model you don't need any swap to run the CM ROM. To be honest CM works flawlesly without the SWAP partition on my phone which is also 32A. I have no problems with the homescreen nor the camera. Please try to repartition the SD card so it doesn't use the SWAP partition, you can also ditch the ext partition as the 32A model has more than enough space for applications installation (about 295MB space). Wipe and reinstall from scratch. Enjoy a working CM 4.2.11.1 build, you can even try 4.2.12.2
EDIT: ehhh, and if you encounter an alarm clock bug where the screen doesn't turn on when the alarm goes off, replace the existing alarm application (AlarmClock.apk) with the one provided in release 4.2.9. You lose some functions in the alarm clock but it works
Same problem different ROM
I'm having the same problem on a Rogers Magic 32A using AmonRa's Donut ROM.
The phone reboots after the 1st or 2nd restart of the camera. Plugged in to a charger, I can restart the camera at least 10 times. This isn't surprising since I did a wipe and reinstall the ROM and the problem still occurred with no other apps installed. Very strange.
I have the same problem...No not so much after I start using an other cam app, however the phone still reboots itself.
Hey,
I purchased a used Nexus 5, 32GB edition (I think the model is D821) as my then current phone (a Samsung Galaxy S4) somehow had a magically broken screen after setting it down on a bed. I have since been able to access my old phone, but it isn't usable as a daily handset.
Anyways, wen I first obtained this phone, I wanted to be safe so I unlocked the bootloader, downloaded the necessary tools to use adb/fastboot, wiped the phones storage, and then flashed the latest version 5.0.1 LRX22C. After installing the normal things I had on my old phone and rooting the device, I have noticed that I get an absurdly abnormal amount of force closes. Mainly dealing with the launcher.
On a daily basis, the launcher, and it seems to mainly ONLY be the launcher (either Google Launcher or Nova, it isn't application specific) force close, freeze, or become unresponsive. I can come to this conclusion on the following basis:
1) The launcher screen shows the background, but doesn't show the dock or any of the shortcut/widgets on the launcher
2) All I can see is a black screen and the notification bar/tab. This is sometimes evaded by switching to the recent apps button and then switching back using the home button.
3) It will show the screen with all applications, but won't swipe between home screens.
There is no major physical damage to the device, there is a hairline crack from the previous owner.
I am guessing that I could go through the process of downloading the firmware and reflashing it, but I was wondering if anyone had ideas on how to solve it, besides flashing the device immediately. I don't want to go through the hassle of flashing firmwares and setting up a device again, especially during finals week. The problem is annoying enough that it would make me post this, but not annoying enough to spend an entire afternoon dealing with that and re-configuring applications and such.
Thanks for the help in advance.

How did you install the stock firmware? Have you tried wiping cache and dalvik cache in recovery? I'd do that first, and if that doesn't work then try dirty flashing the same ROM (you won't lose anything). If you are still having issues after then flash a factory image with fastboot (do NOT use a toolkit). That should fix it.

I know this is a very late response.
The initial way that I installed the stock firmware was using fastboot, and installing each .img file separately.
I just re-flashed the factory image again (except for the recovery image), and am waiting for the phone to boot up (it seems like it takes ages for the phone to actually go from fresh install to fully booted), it has been over a 5 minutes now.
But once that is done, I will see what happens. Is there a way to check for bad hardware (I am specifically thinking flash storage)? Maybe that is causing the problem?
I've finally decided to flip the switch, so the 14.1 nightly builds are running (though they are built only once a week, due to the current infrastructure limitations).
The official builds are signed with private keys (for good security reasons), so there's no plan to provide any unofficial builds by me, to avoid the hassle of switching between different keys.
I'd like to thank @Loader009 for the donation of his retired xt897 devices to me, it greatly helped to make the transition from 13.0 to 14.1 much less painful.
Please let me know about the issues you encounter when running 14.1. In the case of the device crashes, I need to see the output of "cat /proc/last_kmsg" from adb shell, captured after the device rebooted after the crash. Thanks in advance.
I've got it flashed on my RAZR HD XT925 JBBL with the DPI changed to 320. I bought it secondhand and it came with KKBL so I downgraded to JBBL. Most things run fine but some apps that render off the GPU like Temple Run 2 and Subway Surfs show artifacts (random black squares and multicoloured artifacts). This occurs both in Lineage OS 13.0 and 14.1, what's the cause of this to occur?
I've noticed only two problems:
1 - NFC doesn't work properly. I can't read any tag. Android Pay also says, that device is not supported to use NFC.
2 - I use 2 custom layouts for physical keyboard and hot-keys like CTRL+Space don't work. I tried to modify the layout to make it work, but it doesn't work while typing (since space key in use, maybe)
I just installed it yesterday after a complete wipe (and format data/cache f2fs), and think I've got it all set up the way I like except launcher, and didn't run into any real problems yet.
I can't figure out how to get the expected shift/capslock behaviour from hardware keyboard. Still playing with settings.
It didn't come with an APN for freedompop but I found that info on another thread here, before applying that I didn't get LTE, only 3G or no data at all (at the places I've been in last day or so).
I dunno anything about NFC, but Android Pay installed for me with Aroma Gapps, haven't tried using it, doubt it'll work for tap-to-pay tho, as it didn't work for the last few versions of CM either, something to do with PN544 driver or something.
Did LineageOS come with trebuchet? I ended up with only the google now launcher, but maybe my gapps install erased trebuchet, I used aroma for the first time and may have selected things wrong... this one seems I can't customize much, can't get rid of google search bar, can't set background as solid color, can't set background color of app drawer at all which is back to a grid like kitkat.
Play store says firefox not compatible... dunno why. Maybe something I didn't select right with Aroma gapps, although every other app installed fine. Totally unrelated to LineageOS or our phone, but I wish I could find an idiots guide for aroma app selection, explaining what each app is for, particularly system apps I'm not familiar with.
edit: had one reboot, also had errors about MTP host stopping pop up...

Trebuchet is the default launcher for LineageOS. Your Gapps deleted it. Also, if you use a smaller GApps, there is no google search bar ie its not installed. I personally use OpenGapps Pico.
Nightly build from 2017-07-28. Wi-Fi not working. Is it just me?
//EDIT: Tried older builds, too. Wi-Fi did not work with any of them. Flashed back to CM 11.0 and it worked again. Tried LineageOS 13.0 and Wi-Fi worked, too.
//EDIT2: Okay, I think I've figured it out. When I flashed the LineageOS 14.1 after I flashed the phone with previous versions, the Wi-Fi worked alright. It stopped working after changing File system to f2fs.
//EDIT3: Fine, I actually don't know, what happened, but I just changed the File system to f2fs again, flashed the phone with LineageOS 14.1 one more time and the Wi-Fi surprisingly works. I have absolutely no clue, why it did not work after the first flashing.
Shift key not working as expected
I already posted this in a seperate thread a few days ago, but I've got no response and it's driving me crazy, and I assume anyone who is still using this device is because of the physical keyboard, so probably relevant to all.
How do restore traditional "shift" behavior? I want to be able to press then release shift, and the next key I press is shifted. Right now I have to hold shift and another key simultaneously if I want capital letters or symbols from the numbers. I think there even used to be an LED that light up when shift was pressed/released until the next keypress, although I'm more concerned about how it actually works than the led...
I've played with most of the settings on the attached screenshot, other settings only seem to make things worse, sometimes making nothing happen at all for shift, sometimes putting out garbage, sometimes messing with capslock behavior (which is working normally with these settings, although no LED either)... but I certainly haven't tried everything.
If this is standard behavior for everyone using L14.1 and not a setting, is there a file I can modify or a 3rd party app, or anything, to get behavior I want?

hi
the version that you flashed in your xt925 was the oficial one released by LOS?
did u do any kind of port or mod?
enigma9o7: I've had the same problem sometimes back with the older builds of LineageOS 14.1. Try to clean flash it with the newest build from yesterday. I just tried to type something with the physical keyboard and the Shift button just worked "correctly".
EDIT: Okay, I think I've figured out your problem. You probably use the Asanti v2 keyboard setting. Switch it to Asanti v1 and the Shift key should work as expected.

Should updates work thru the updater?
I just tried doing it, it downloaded succesfully, then rebooted into TWRP, but didn't do anything. So I tried installing myself (took me a while to find the file btw) and it failed zip signature verification. So I downloaded it on my PC, copied it over via USB, then tried again, and still fails.

@kabaldan, I noticed that a number of device trees in LineageOS now have a new branch of "lineage-15.0", but the xt897 does not. Is this an ominous sign that the xt897 will not be built for Oreo?:crying: or is just a timing thing at this early stage:fingers-crossed:
any hope for running it on mb886?
mb886 - atrix HD - ...you can test it if is your bl unlocked and twrp installed.
Mainboard have same base - msm8960. But i am now 100% sure if your phone is bl free unlockable. if not, then you can test to unlock it via sunshine.
I have installed this and for a while all was fine. But I was browsing in chrome when all of a sudden it froze and the phone restarted and went into a boot loop just showing the bootloader unlocked screen. I cleared the cache and dalvik cache from TWRP, which makes it boot, but any attempt to uninstall or launch chrome makes it happen again. Now it just seems to be happening at random without even opening chrome.
How can I wipe my device completely and start again? I know I can do a factory reset, but is there a lower level way to wipe it? I also saw something about changing the filesystem, is that worth doing (can it make it a bit faster)?
I have ordered a gemini PDA that I hope will arrive by late january or sometime in february, but I need this phone to get me through a couple more months!
Installed this a couple weeks ago, upgrading from a 4.4.4 CM after a number of apps I run on this finally dropped support. I did a complete wipe including the f2fs formats as suggested and it installed without incident.
I cannot believe how well it runs: keyboard works and lights up on pull out, turns off on close, hdmi port works, gps, camera+flash works. It really didn't lose any speed from my older install. Really well done, I was afraid there would be bigger problems but only a couple small ones so far.
The couple things I noticed: slow to get carrier signal and voice is garbled when using freedompop's dialer or google hangouts on the bottom mic. Slow signal seems normal, even 4.4.4 had this issue, though it can sometimes take a few minutes. Using a sound recorder shows the bottom mic working, but using fpop/hangouts dialer makes it garbled. Top mic, speaker phone, always works though. I don't have regular service to see is default dialer has same issue though, just freedompop free service which is just voip.
Still, this is a pretty awesome breath of life on this old thing. Ram holds it back somewhat but it's still pretty useful.
So I just wiped everything, repaired filesystems, and reinstalled. Data and cache were already f2fs so nothing to do there. But I noticed that during install it says:
twrp patching system unconditionally
unknown command [log]
unknown command [log]
Do I need a newer version of TWRP? I have 2.8.6. I noticed that at least 3.0 is available: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1887070

I've now installed the latest TWRP and reinstalled Lineage, gapps and su, and I didn't get any errors this time
But I have a really odd problem which I was hoping this would fix and it hasn't - I can't download certain applications from the play store, they say "Downloading" but they never actually start to download. Eventually either it mysteriously stops trying to download or I get an error message with code 492. It seems to be applications that are over a certain size. I've been googling but can't find any solutions that work. I have a lot of free space in all partitions. Did something with the directory structure get screwed up maybe? Seems like some problem with the dalvik cache I think, but wiping doesn't seem to help. I have no idea at this point
