Just read this on the way in to work this morn...
Samsung Mobile Canada has now officially announced their plans for Android 2.2 on Canadian Galaxy S Devices on their Facebook page. These devices include the Vibrant, Captivate and Fascinate and we will see an update in December with the Fascinate update coming in 2011.
Currently working to provide a tested and secure upgrade experience in Canada, the team is hard at working getting the updates out to customers.
The releases will happen as follows:
* Samsung Vibrant from Bell – Update in mid-December
* Samsung Captivate from Rogers – Update in mid-December
* Samsung Fascinate from TELLUS – Update in early 2011
Although we would have liked to see the update sooner, at least users of Galaxy S devices in Canada will get their hands on Froyo before Gingerbread becomes the most used operating system.

Well this just sets the path for us to have cooked roms. Once they get official froyo, it would probably be a breeze to port. Or that might not even be necessary and their roms might work with ours from the get go.
I so excitied for this as i originally ordered and recieved the Sony X10 but had done the research on it and sony was slacking in the software update 2.1 which the Samsung already had....so i sent the POS back and got the Captivate with rogers and am now going to be able to update to 2.2 before the X10 will offically be released with 2.1 lol Sony's a Joke

That joke got 2.1 from Rogers last weekend... 2.1 global/nordic a few weeks back and that works well on the rogers phone. Also Sony has confirmed (after lying to us for most of 2010) that they will add multi-touch to the next update coming in Q1 2011.

Personally, I don't see the point in getting the x10 over captivate since captivate has better specs in everything (except the cameras).

Actually the multitouch on the X10 is a joke.... it is a complete balls out comedy fest.
The digitisers for the x10 are so low in resolution that they have develop algorithms for the phone to actually understand what the user is trying to do.
At the moment the development appears to suck. Multitouch on the x10 will never ever be a pleasant experience. Forget about being able to play Sonic the Hedgehog.
Does anyone know when the late version of the note 10.1 is going to be released? I'm gnawing at the bit in anticipation! I can't find anything other than the CES announcement that it was going to be released in late January.

Android 5.0 "Liquorice" this Fall ?
Basically Google is saying Motorola is not up to snuff quite yet, to start producing brand new phones for them, they still have work and development ahead of them, before they are ready. Several months at very earliest. This new rumors / news, pointing towards end of year release time frame.
And this has the tech world buzzing, that "rumor" maybe Android 5.0 is not going to be released this Summer right after Google I/O like rumored. And that this Motorola - X phone, rumored for a June / July release, is now due for a Nov / Dec release, which is the typically Nexus phone time of year.
And that come this Fall, we will see this Motorola Nexus-X phone in Nov/Dec, running Android 5.0 "Liquorice". And what we may get after Google I/O this May, is Android 4.3 "Key Lime Pie" in the Summer ?
Typically Google releases brand new OS numbers in the Fall, with a brand new Nexus phone, and that Summer is just a point release usually, so maybe we are getting 4.3 after Google I/O, and whole new 5.0 this Fall, with the next Nexus ? Because I find it hard to believe that Google will have a new LG Nexus-Five for sale this Summer per some rumors, they have never done that before.
Talks about 5.0 not being ready for Google IO'13 had been around for quite a while, I think there's something to it.
However that begs the question of what they have in store for 5.0, has to be kinda big, and will 4.3 just be a polish?
That wouldn't be very IO worthy...

Anybody are eager to watch Android L final released more than know nexus X, 6, 9... Last rumors says that Google' release data will be today but I'm a bit disbeliever. Because there are a lot of leaked news about nexus devices but very very little about new android os.
If anyone knows some thing about it I'll be very beholden if share here their news about it.
At the moment officially google says they are making a casting to decide the name... Limon meringue pie, lava cake, lady finger, lemon drop, oreo [emoji1], licorice, lion (nestle) lollypop... I personally think the best name is light [emoji23]...
But... Any one know some thing about to days presentation???
Finally was announced today and we'll can download this Friday, next tomorrow...
They may use the lollypop this name.
Hi all!
It has come to my attention that the best ROM ever has finally came back from the dead in spite of the clutch of OnePlus! Better yet?! OnePlus devices are officially supported as well as a slew of other devices such as the Nexus lineup! You can grab the swell ROM here:

I hope you all enjoy! I'm downloading it for my OnePlus X as we speak! I knew the kings weren't dead!
