Anybody are eager to watch Android L final released more than know nexus X, 6, 9... Last rumors says that Google' release data will be today but I'm a bit disbeliever. Because there are a lot of leaked news about nexus devices but very very little about new android os.
If anyone knows some thing about it I'll be very beholden if share here their news about it.
At the moment officially google says they are making a casting to decide the name... Limon meringue pie, lava cake, lady finger, lemon drop, oreo [emoji1], licorice, lion (nestle) lollypop... I personally think the best name is light [emoji23]...
But... Any one know some thing about to days presentation???
Finally was announced today and we'll can download this Friday, next tomorrow...
They may use the lollypop this name.

Hi everyone!
Currently I own a Galaxy S and am quite happy with it. The only thing I dont really like is Samsung's update speed. So I guess I'd like to get a Google phone next to get updates the fastest as possible, and as the new Nexus S is nearly the same as my galaxy it wont be an upgrade.
So when do you think Google will introduce the next Nexus phone? I guess 2.4 wont see one? Do you think in about halb a year? (As Nexus One and S are about half a year apart) Or do you think Google will stop the Nexus series as Android has a good market penetration already?
Kind regards,
Sascha
Maybe in 2012 (before the earth is destroyed. Many Chinese people are crazy about the year of 2012)

They're almost a year apart: January 5 and December 16. And next Android will be 3.0 most probably, not 2.4.
But I'm also curious about next Google phone. I want to buy a Nexus S, but there will be dual-core phones in 2011.
Ok maybe I confused german release date Nexus One with international release date of Nexus S. Then its a year
But I dont really know if Android 3.0 will be released for Smartphones too, the news sites report contrary statements in this matter. Anyway, there will be a new smartphone release and maybe a new Nexus The question is, when?
I always thought that the "nexus" brand phones, were designed to be the first Android phones to receive the big updates from Google ? But that doesn't seem to be true.
I am not too confident that the Nexus-S will be first in line to get the next big OS update. I see them coming out with a Nexus-3.0 being the first phone running "ice Cream" then later on down the road the Nexus-S will get that update, and then possibly the Nexus-One.
I thought Google was going to do it differently ? If there is a "nexus" brand phone, it should get the newest OS right away, that was the whole point of the phone. But the Nexus-S came out with 2.3, and all the Nexus-One owners just kept waiting and waiting, for a few months. That was not cool. I don't remember, but was the Nexus-One the first phone to get 2.2 Froyo before any other phone ?
The Nexus One didn't get the update until some of the major bugs we're ironed out. The Nexus One got Froyo first. The Nexus phones will always get the first updates but they may not get them at the same time. We don't know anything about the next Nexus but the other Nexus' will get whatever OS it comes with. Don't be so paranoid.
Yes, the nexus s and nexus one are the only phones that have 2.3 currently

I know thanks. But my point is on how long it took for Nexus-One to get 2.3, I was under the impression the "nexus" brand phones are the first to get the newest releases, sure it was the "first" technically besides the Nexus-S, but it took a long time, well over 2 months. I would have expected Google to test 2.3 on both Nexus devices and release at the same time, or at least fairly close, like a week or so.
So is this the pattern ? When there is a major new Android OS release, a new "nexus" phone will come out first with it, then the old Nexus phones get it trickled down to it at some later date, and all other phones months after that ? So for example, if the next major release is "Ice cream" do NOT expect the Nexus-S to get it right away, I would expect it first on a brand new Nexus-3.0 phone ? Then a month or two later the older Nexus phones will finally get it ?
We have no idea what will happen with the new Nexus phone. We don't know what version of Android it will run. We don't know when it will be released. We don't know when the other Nexus phones will get its version of Android. Extrapolating a pattern from a single point of reference is impossible (There are two Nexus phone, but only one release of an OS while there was a previous Nexus).
From what I have read on Android sites, there will be a Nexus-3.0 built by HTC or possibly Motorola for once, and released second half of 2011, most likely end of the year, and it is supposed to ship with "ice cream", the first ever Android phone with that OS.
But there is a rumor, strongly typed word "RUMOR", that the new HTC-Pyramid coming to T-Mobile this Spring, could be the next Google phone by HTC, and might be the Nexus-2.4 release.

I've read all of those articles about the Pyramid and I don't believe them. 2.4 is still Gingerbread and will come to the Nexus S first. 3.0 is already out. Its called Honeycomb. We don't know anything about the Android iteration following it. It would make sense for the next Nexus phone to come out around the end of 2011, beginning of 2012 but that's all we can say for sure.

Does it matter how long it takes? It got the 2.3 update and is one of the first devices with it. That's what should matter. People that are on the fritz about this is worrying too much.
Also, why are people asking "will this be the pattern for future Nexus devices?" The answer is obvious. No one knows until more Nexus devices are out.
the nexus one took a while, which sucked, but they had some delays with bugs and testing. the bottom line is, you will br worse off with any other android phone. so really you have no choice but to go with the nexus phones if you want the first updates. no manufacturer will ever be faster than google to update their device.
sometimes crap happens and they hit delays. software is a hard thing to get perfect. and hell 2.3 STILL has issues.
Thank God for the nexus is perfect for my inpatient self... cant wait for the next update already

Google to take on Apple iPhone with new Samsung Nexus Prime
Google and Samsung have announced that they will reveal "what’s new from Android" on 11 October. Sources inside the companies confirmed that the event will see the launch of a major new product, heavily rumoured to be the Samsung Nexus Prime.
The new handset that will run Ice Cream Sandwich, the latest version of the operating system.
The San Diego event will be the first time Google has launched an operating system that runs on both tablets and phones, and takes place the week after Apple is set to announce its latest iPhone in California.
Rumours about the prime’s specifications suggest it will feature a dual-core processor, a large 4.5? screen and 4G capabilities for countries where they are available. Speculation has also suggested that the event will include a new tablet, or at least an update for the software currently running on existing Samsung tablets.
Google has been keen to emphasise that, despite continued wrangles over patent law, it is continuing to launch new hardware and software. A spokesman said that “Microsoft are resorting to legal measures to extort profit from others’ achievements and hinder the pace of innovation. We remain focused on building new technology and supporting Android partners.”
The search giant believes new hardware and new announcements with manufacturers will convince the industry that it will not be cowed by legal action.

so if this is to be believed ICS is the finished article already,i was under the impression it would be nearer the end of the year before we would see ICS, and the 2.3.5 leaked update has only appeared on here
I still say this..If android had the quality of apps that iphone has forget about the iphone all together...Android for me is tops and my galaxy s2 i love it to death...i am sure we are going to get the update of ICS and im sure Gadget or any other dev will port it to us once released....
I am waiting for the s3 to come out next year and im sure that will be one of the best phones when its released..For the time being as long as devs support our handset no need to change it...
and figure it out bud. apple knows that android is growing day by day month by month..so they try and bully the way to get competition out...great post and i am sure you will get many opinions in here
Yeah i doubt ill be changing my phone until next year at the very least i only have the GS2 under 4 months anyway.
I'm surprised though that a leaked version of ICS had not been posted on here when according to this article it will be on this new phone which will be launched on October 11th in 10 days time.

It's a google device, they always get them first. If we're lucky and ICS source is released to Samsung et all on Oct 11th then we might have a leak come November. God knows when an official build will go out.

Android 5.0 "Liquorice" this Fall ?
Basically Google is saying Motorola is not up to snuff quite yet, to start producing brand new phones for them, they still have work and development ahead of them, before they are ready. Several months at very earliest. This new rumors / news, pointing towards end of year release time frame.
And this has the tech world buzzing, that "rumor" maybe Android 5.0 is not going to be released this Summer right after Google I/O like rumored. And that this Motorola - X phone, rumored for a June / July release, is now due for a Nov / Dec release, which is the typically Nexus phone time of year.
And that come this Fall, we will see this Motorola Nexus-X phone in Nov/Dec, running Android 5.0 "Liquorice". And what we may get after Google I/O this May, is Android 4.3 "Key Lime Pie" in the Summer ?
Typically Google releases brand new OS numbers in the Fall, with a brand new Nexus phone, and that Summer is just a point release usually, so maybe we are getting 4.3 after Google I/O, and whole new 5.0 this Fall, with the next Nexus ? Because I find it hard to believe that Google will have a new LG Nexus-Five for sale this Summer per some rumors, they have never done that before.
Talks about 5.0 not being ready for Google IO'13 had been around for quite a while, I think there's something to it.
However that begs the question of what they have in store for 5.0, has to be kinda big, and will 4.3 just be a polish?
That wouldn't be very IO worthy...

I hope that this doesn't contravene any rules (forgive me if so), but I thought it would be a chance to discuss official n3 kitkat news, information on what the next TW enhancements may be, if any, release dates, ROM leaks and anything that we are hoping for.
Honestly I can't imagine the phone running faster or smoother in the OS, but ART is an interesting feature, hopefully finally YouTube opens instantly with that...
There isn't much info online about a kit kat update as yet, however the few rumours that there are point to a January/February release.

I don't believe we'll see a kitkat update before s5
Guess the Note 3 will be updated directly to android 5 this time next year.
What makes you say they? Last year s3 got jelly bean after 3 months... The n3 is their current flagship device, there'd be stupid to leave it on an older system for a year with no updates...

Note 3 will get KitKat no doubt. Especially since they're pitching it in combo with their wearable devices. I personally expect it sometime at the end of Q1 in 2014
If s5 is to come with kitkat, then we will get after that so probably 6 months or so.
Sent from Note 3 (The beauty & beast)
Raw speculation is utterly useless, the update will come when it comes. Right now, only ONE non-nexus device has received Kitkat and that was a more or less stock Motorola Device (keep in mind Motorola is now a Google owned company). Even Cyanogen isn't ready to push out their Kitkat builds for most devices.
...not to mention that, for example, here in Italy we've not yet received even the MJ7..., ...so to speak...

S5 looking like it will be the new Flagship if Samsung really does the Eye Scanner
http://www.phonesreview.co.uk/2013/11/20/samsung-galaxy-s5-eye-scanner-further-evidence/
My guess is early next year. I'm not too fussed as I have a Nexs 5 running KitKat
The Note 2 is just now getting 4.3... I doubt the Note 3 is getting KitKat anytime soon.

hopefully they will release it very soooonnn..
Im sure that Note 3 will get android v4.4 KitKat Soon~
Hopefuly it will come before xmas :victory:
I think February is a good time to hope for, 3 months, like the first main updates for a new galaxy flagship tend to be.

I'd risk a Febuary date for release also, but if we are to believe sammobile and Samsung are testing KK, they may surprise us intime for Christmas! one can only hope
Kitkat will only come once samsung have been able to add their Mods and features to it.... and it's working properly. ... so if they are testing it already. .. Just a matter of time before they get it sorted. I don't think they'll wait for the s5 if everything is running properly. ... afterall.... The note 3 consumers are not the same as the s series consumers so pointless to hold of took s5 is ready. ... Just my thoughts. ..

January is my bet
I am currently running a hacked together KitKat on my Note 3 with little issue. Grab a pack of KitKat apk, design and system files and overwrite the system resources with them and you're up and going with a Touchwiz / KitKat hybrid. I used the W03 KitKat Experience pack and flashed that.
