I have a US Cellular LG US670 Optimus, which I have bricked. I flashed the CW Recovery for the Optimus V to see if it would work, and it does, but now I just recently learned that I cannot put a Froyo rom on my phone.
I was attempting to port CM7 to it and in my own ignorance, deleted the entire SD card (pushing buttons too fast, not cause I'm a complete moron ) deleting the backup of my stock rom.
So right now the only working thing on my phone is CW, I can put all kinds of flavors of CM7 on it, but none of them work with US Cellular. I then tried to build my own Gingerbread Rom using this guide, sites.google.com/site/teamdroidconcepts/wiki-guides/compile, which is great, but I can't seem to build the actual Rom.
I have the LG Source code for my phone and I have the GB source code. What I'm wondering is if there is anyone who could walk me through the port, or if there is a Optimus V developer that could help me port one of those Roms to the Optimus U?

Well this thread led me to being able to put Xionia on giving me the ability to flash a froyo rom, but I need a US Cellular build. So far, every other rom doesn't work, that's why I was trying to build my own.
So anyone know where I can get a rom that will work on a US Cellular Optimus U?
Not to bump an old topic, but ive got the same problem currently. Ive got the froyo files from USCC, but i cannot find a way to flash them onto my phone. Would anyone be able to assist? Thanks.

For those who are interested, I believe that LG made the base roms for the LG Optimus series available on their site. I will try to find a link, but you should be able to find it pretty handily if you can navigate their site.

Here's the link: http://www.lg.com/us/support-mobile/lg-LGUS670
At the bottom, you just follow their instructions and the tool should replace your recovery and rom with complete stock. It'll get you back to square 1 at least.

2. And would my phone get FOTA updates with custom ROM?
3. List of some awesome custom ROMs? I could find loads in xda yet need the best.(Yes! it depends on person)
Thnx!!!

HERE try my custom rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1466917
the procedure are in there too and if u follow it precisely should be no problem
I followed the guide to S-OFF but i got "FAILED TO ROOT " message.
So I followed HTC dev steps to unlock bootloader. Now my device got unlocked yet S-ON since HTCdev procedure allows to unlock only certain features.
What to do next??
appreciate any help???
Current ROM on my device is stock v1.52.720.3 and HBOOT as 1.18.0000
I guess here is the problem, when can I expect an updated Revolutionary?
sad sad
So my friend rooted my phone for me and installed a custom rom that supports a language I needed (arabic).
It turns out that the 4.0 carries that language and I have been having a lot of problem with the current rom. If I want to upgrade to 4.0 how can go on with this?
Also, I would like to stay rooted because from what I understand, if I am rooted the phone is unlocked and I am planning on going overseas for a month and so it would be nice to have a unlocked phone with me.
I really appreciate all the help guys thanks!
First of all, there is no stock 4.0, unless you mean ICS 4.0.x. Because of the vague information, I assumed you meant sense 4.0.
Second of all, you need to provide some info, and why can't your friend fix it for you? I have no idea what's currently on your phone. If you're running gingerbread, then you'll have to do a firmware update + rom update. You've provided us the fact that your friend put a rom on there for you. That does not help one bit. What rom? and again, why can't he fix it? Normally, it's pretty easy to update the rom, there are tons of instructions provided in the forums. I would suggest looking around. The only hard part for you may be the firmware updating... Since you appear to have no idea what rom you're running, myself and others won't know how to help at all. You want to update to this "4.0" with little to no information provided. Fyi, phone rooted does not mean the phone is unlocked. You'll have to double check that, Good luck!
ps. your title is even more confusing. Are you getting the 4.0 OTA and asking if it's okay to update? or are you asking HOW to update? I'm assuming you're asking how to update lol
Ermm, this type of question (correcting: exactly this question) had been asked (and answered) a couple of times

I apologize for being vague here are info on my phone.
I am on Android Version 2.3.7
Baseband version: 10.56.9035.00
Kernal Version 2.6.35.13_CyangenMod+
Mod Version: CyanogenMod-7.1.0-SelfKANG10-Sensation
Build Number: GRJ22
I am trying to update to the new version which is ICS for my sensation. I am not sure if it's out or not though.

if not, can you please point me to where I can follow a guide to do this?

Since you are unsure of what you are doing, I wouldn't advise you to try since you do run the risk of "Bricking" your device if something goes wrong - Your Choice!
Having stated that, if you really do want to install ICS:
1. Install firmware 3.32 from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767
2. Install a CUSTOM Recovery.
3. Choose your ROM - There are a few Sense 3.6 ROMs but no Sense 4.0 with no bugs (FAIK).
You should really Search the Development thread and choose a ROM which suits YOU as everyones needs/wants are slightly different. Most ROMs tell you what you need to install and there already guides on how to do it.
You could follow the guide from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1472298
Here are also a couple of good thread with tons of info:

ROOTING only unlocks the ability to change files stored anywhere on the phone, you need to SIM UNLOCK if you intend to use a different carrier or possibly in a different country. There is a thread in development on how to do this for free too!!!
Hope this helps

Not sure why you'd want to do this, when you can just install a room based off of the official release like ARHD. You'd retain root and also get all the awesome features included in the ROM that HTC won't add in there.

I just purchased a shiny new ST26i Xperia J because I do not have the cash money to splurge. I spent a decent amount of time perusing the threads in the General section and this one as well. I see some people have worked on still incomplete ports of ClockworkMod and the TeamWin recovery systems. Without those, how would one flash a different ROM onto this device? I see a few people have attempted it, but the details are unclear as to how they got that far.
I have unlocked the bootloader and successfully exploited and tested the root on my default firmware (110.2.A.0.21), but no idea where to go from here. Apologies in advanced, I am used to that Samsung bull**** with flash recovery partitions and such, but there garbage open-source stance and their non-commitment to the community made me, even with the little dough I have, put my money on the Xperia guys who have been much more open.

Dude...to install a rom,you must need a recovery.. It's mandatory
There are cwm recovery available for your device for sure..without cwm or twrp you wouldn't be able to install a Rom
But you can flash zip mods with an application
If you are looking for a stable recovery, I think you will have to wait..
To be precise... You don't have any other options to install roms, other than by recovery..
Although I don't own a J...
Thank You...
thank me if I helped you...Don't say it,hit the button...
I own a SXJ You can flash a ROM in SXJ after flashing CWM So, first of all you have to flash CWM .img file and then flash your ROM.zip and then again go for the stock or vengeance kernel! Best luck

This is xperia miro/tipo/j/e forum, go to htc one forum and post your problems there.
And besides, last post in this thread is from before almost half a year.
Hi The name is Devon. I am a complete nub wanting to know more about android and yay first post! lol
I am posting a thread to ask is there a difference between the officially branded htc one x and the carrier version (e.g AT&T) htc one x ?
Are there difference in the stock roms (based on carrier) and also what are the requirements to install/upgrade from a stock rooted rom 4.0.4 to jelly bean 4.2.2 ? To flash a newer rom, must the hboot be upgraded ?
My device is an unlocked AT&T HTC One X with superCID and S-Off running rooted stock rom 4.0.4 (Ice cream sandwich) with TWRP custom recovery. I live in Barbados and my current service provider is LIME. I wish for some response asap as I would like to install one of the jelly bean roms, either 4.2 or 4.3. I would like to know as much as possible. Thank you and have a good day
My thanks to you kindly,
Devon or NZXTBourne
Big difference. Stay in the forum for your model.
Start of in the CM10 thread and follow the steps.
Each step will require you to search the forums to understand what they're asking you to do.
As you search you will find the best thread in which to ask specific questions.
Good luck!

The two phones look very similar but on the inside they're completely different. This means nothing from the HTC One X (Endeavoru) forum is compatible with your phone, and will likely brick it. Basically make sure you stay in our forum which is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1538
Bookmark that page and make sure you stay within it, and make sure you only download ROMs/kernels/radios/mods from the two development sections within it.
In order to flash the ROMs you mentioned you probably need to update your firmware. To confirm this I need to see your bootloader details, post the first five lines please.

Sent from my One X using Tapatalk
The screen isn't the issue, the older ts firmware is compatible with newer ROMs. It's the other way round that's a problem. Plus, if he's stock rooted there's no reason his screen wouldn't work anyway. It's actually the firmware modules contained in the RUU that are important.

This is actually incorrect, at least in light of what aaron.a is asking. Thing is, the term "firmware" is confusing. He actually seems to be asking about all the modules aside from the actual ROM that get installed with an official RUU or OTA, which include hboot, media modules, touchscreen firmware, radio, etc. What you are giving instruction to check is simply the ROM or OS version, which is actually independent from the other firmware modules (particularly if you have been modding the phone.

Back to your original post, the absolute best thing you can do as a n00b is READ READ READ (and did I mention read?).
Especially since it seems that you bought the device used, and bootloader unlocked, and s-off, its extremely important that you have good understanding of what those things mean before attempting any type of modification. In particular, s-off means all security checks are off, meaning that flashing the wrong file can brick your device as the safety checks that would for instance normally prevent you from flashing a potentially fatal (to your device) file (such as a ROM for another device) are now being completely bypassed.
So just do yourself a big favor and take a few hours to read, research, and gain a good understanding of the lingo, concepts, and steps before trying any type of mod on your phone.
Start with my Index threads, and also the very useful threads maintained by timmaaa:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2136172
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2567916
All of these threads are sticky (pinned) to the top of either the General or Q&A forum sections.

Must my bootloader be relocked in order to use the RUU ?
No, because you're s-off you don't need to relock, just run the RUU. Your unlocked bootloader and s-off status will survive the process so after it's done you just need to flash TWRP recovery again and then you can flash your ROM. If you need any guides you'll find them in my How-To Guide For Beginners thread, link in my signature.

I found one called aokp mr1 build for 4.2.2 that I found on youtube from zedomax a.k.a High on android (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EnfGam6JY9c) was wondering if you could check this please. Thanks

Don't worry about the kernel, just flash the firmware. You'll find the firmware is on the first page of this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=45122768
That aokp ROM dev doesn't look familiar to me, don't flash it. A quick word of advice: don't go searching all over the web for ROMs, other sites don't properly distinguish between our phone and the HTC One X (Endeavoru). They're two completely different phones and flashing the wrong ROM can brick a device. The only place you ever need to be is XDA. Our device main page is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1538
Bookmark that page and stay within it. You'll see two development sections there, Android Development (mostly Sense ROMs) and Original Android Development (aosp ROMs). Every compatible ROM for our device can be found in either of those two sections.
Is there any particular reason you were looking at a 4.2 ROM? That's pretty old now in the world of Android seeing as we're up to 4.4 KitKat now.
I have some detailed instructions on basic flashing operations in my How-To Guide For Beginners thread, the link is in my signature. If you decide that you want to flash a KitKat ROM you will need to install a different recovery. The one you're looking for is the unofficial modified TWRP 2.6.3.0 by jrior001 which can be found in the first couple of pages of our Original Android Development section. It's a very easy thing to do, just check out my guide thread.

I can't stop thanking you and everyone else that is with xda and also those who have posted. Thank you soo much yet again. I am running the 2.15 firmware now and I don't seem to having any problems with the radio and data signal. Will make another post if the issue arises again. I was wondering if it is possible for me to try the ElementalX kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2061577
