[Q] How to Flash ROM without Permanent Recovery - Sony Xperia Miro, Tipo (Dual), J, E

I just purchased a shiny new ST26i Xperia J because I do not have the cash money to splurge. I spent a decent amount of time perusing the threads in the General section and this one as well. I see some people have worked on still incomplete ports of ClockworkMod and the TeamWin recovery systems. Without those, how would one flash a different ROM onto this device? I see a few people have attempted it, but the details are unclear as to how they got that far.
I have unlocked the bootloader and successfully exploited and tested the root on my default firmware (110.2.A.0.21), but no idea where to go from here. Apologies in advanced, I am used to that Samsung bull**** with flash recovery partitions and such, but there garbage open-source stance and their non-commitment to the community made me, even with the little dough I have, put my money on the Xperia guys who have been much more open.

Yup you will soon get cwm and twrp for your phone
Xperia is more open source than samaung

Dude...to install a rom,you must need a recovery.. It's mandatory
There are cwm recovery available for your device for sure..without cwm or twrp you wouldn't be able to install a Rom
But you can flash zip mods with an application
If you are looking for a stable recovery, I think you will have to wait..
To be precise... You don't have any other options to install roms, other than by recovery..
Although I don't own a J...
Thank You...
thank me if I helped you...Don't say it,hit the button...

I own a SXJ You can flash a ROM in SXJ after flashing CWM So, first of all you have to flash CWM .img file and then flash your ROM.zip and then again go for the stock or vengeance kernel! Best luck
Thank me if i helped!

[Q] LG Optimus US670 Bricked

I have a US Cellular LG US670 Optimus, which I have bricked. I flashed the CW Recovery for the Optimus V to see if it would work, and it does, but now I just recently learned that I cannot put a Froyo rom on my phone.
I was attempting to port CM7 to it and in my own ignorance, deleted the entire SD card (pushing buttons too fast, not cause I'm a complete moron ) deleting the backup of my stock rom.
So right now the only working thing on my phone is CW, I can put all kinds of flavors of CM7 on it, but none of them work with US Cellular. I then tried to build my own Gingerbread Rom using this guide, sites.google.com/site/teamdroidconcepts/wiki-guides/compile, which is great, but I can't seem to build the actual Rom.
I have the LG Source code for my phone and I have the GB source code. What I'm wondering is if there is anyone who could walk me through the port, or if there is a Optimus V developer that could help me port one of those Roms to the Optimus U?

Well this thread led me to being able to put Xionia on giving me the ability to flash a froyo rom, but I need a US Cellular build. So far, every other rom doesn't work, that's why I was trying to build my own.
So anyone know where I can get a rom that will work on a US Cellular Optimus U?
Not to bump an old topic, but ive got the same problem currently. Ive got the froyo files from USCC, but i cannot find a way to flash them onto my phone. Would anyone be able to assist? Thanks.

For those who are interested, I believe that LG made the base roms for the LG Optimus series available on their site. I will try to find a link, but you should be able to find it pretty handily if you can navigate their site.
---------- Post added at 01:23 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:18 AM ----------
Here's the link: http://www.lg.com/us/support-mobile/lg-LGUS670
At the bottom, you just follow their instructions and the tool should replace your recovery and rom with complete stock. It'll get you back to square 1 at least.

Just got in the Coolpad 5860E...

So we just got the coolpad 5860E at my metro store. This thing... wow. And not in a good way. It is a larger version of the Wildfire (shudder). 1ghz processor, 512 mb of RAM... it just PALES in comparison to the Motion we got in last week.
Problem is... It will sell better because of the bigger screen.
So, seeing as how we will be offering rooting/flashing and such... Is there any development for this phone (or the LG for that matter)?
I am attaching Quadrant scores for the Coolpad...
fancy seeing this phone outside china.
i got mine in china, slightly different, coolpad instead of metroPCS and no front camera, also only got measlly 256ram
i guess its just a rebranding from the same manufacturer.
BUT juz to be sure. tell me all the hardware spec.
cos there a way to root it for mine, i think.
and will do so as soon as i figure out the chinese writings, and im kinda bad at it for someone whos in china for 3 yrs ;p

i baidu search Chinese rom for u guys and found a way to flash the CWM recovery i think
http://bbs.189store.com/thread-56313-1-1.html
requirement:
M$win os,
applocale, or change system locale to chinese/china
DISCLAIMER: USUAL STUFF IM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY MISHAP, BLAHBLAHBLAHBLAH.....
GIVE CREDIT TO THE CHINESE GUYS AND NOT ME, AND SO FORTH.........
1. open the link above and look for "http:删除我//pan.baidu......"
2. copy paste it to ur browser (remove the chinese character ofcos)
3. download the 5860+第三方recovery.rar by clicking the '下载' button
4. extract after download
5. put ur phone into flash/download mode by, turn ur phone off, connect it to the pc while holding the vol- button.
6. after that open the file ~/客服_7kDownloader/客服_7kDownloader.exe
7. chose the right com port that is ur phone, on the topleft of the aplication
8. and press ’开始‘ at the bottom right, wait till it finish flashing.
sometimes it got stuck, and the solution is to check ur device manager for unknown device
and install the driver (the adb driver i think) and after that it should continue, or repeat the flashing process if not.
(happened to mine)
the process is the same for flashing other roms thats on that board that i posted.
fyi its all in chinese but juz look at [ROM] threads.
also u need to register, login and reply to see the link.
but seing u got CMW, i think you guys can start cooking ur own rom.
PS I CANT TEST IT SEEING THAT I GOT A DIFFERENT(OLDER) CONFIGURATION THAN Y'ALL
BUT GUD LUCK.
Tanks for the driver i will install it right away try the cwm after that so i let you guy's now how everything goes

may be any one could try asking coolpad.us for flashing tool, for rom dump.
I did exactly that. Also asked them for a link to the source code for the current android build as it should be released under GPL. You can boot into recovery on these things by holding both Vol Up and Vol Down and powering on. Once you see the droid, press the soft HOME key to bring up the menu. I can't do much with it yet. Haven't gotten fastboot to work. If you hold just Vol UP and power it it takes you to a black screen with white text that says "=======Enter VIA USB======". I thought this was saying "enter via USB" but after doing a
Code:
system_profiler SPUSBDataType
I noticed a device entry with a Manufacture of VIA Telcom. Still this mode does nothing for me. No luck yet, but still digging.

Hey guys, My friend got a coolpad quattro. I used to own a couple evo shift 4g's and it seems to look like through the android system recovery menu that you would need to downgrade to a different android system by tricking the android system into thinking it was an update via the apply update from sdcard. I am not that tech savvy with development or "jail breaking" android bootloaders but I think it might have to start with the partitioning of the blocks first to find where it is placed in the nand chip. I hope that someone can take what I have offered up as advice and try to make some progress with this.
any progress ? root...unlock...

[Q] Gingerbread to AOKP Jelly Bean re-booting at splash screen

Hello,
I haven't flashed since my first smart phone (HTC WING).. now Sensation 4g. So what I have done so far after much research:
S-off
CWM installed
Backup of stock made (and used..)
No firmware update (probable issue)
I have read and im inferring from the posts that since im on Gingerbread I need to do a firmware update to ICS. I would like to know however to use the AOKP Jelly Bean ROM is there yet another Firmware update I will need to install or is it not necessary at all.
I am assuming its firmware most likely but id rather not assume.
I get stuck at the splash screen advises me to pick a language and reboots constantly.
Thanks in advance.
Just bumping to ensure it doesn't get lost in the shuffle.

[Q] Install CM in Sony Xperia E

Hi!
I bought a new phone for a familiar (Xperia E) and I want to install CM before giving it to him. The stock rom has many manufactor and operator apps that only waste space. I want the phone to be the simpliest and smoothiest possible for my familiar.
In my Galaxy Nexus I know how to do it, unlock the bootloader > install custom recovery > flash rom > root, but in xperia E the process seems totaly different. I tried to unlock the bootloader with this tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2142824 but the drivers and other links are already off and I couldn't find the files I need in google.
So... how can I install a custom rom on the phone and get rid of all the apps that come pre-installed? I also know that CM doesn't officially support Xperia E, does the unofficial port work well or do I have to flash a different rom? If so, which one?

Single SIM or dual? If it's single, download jjm34's ROM and extract the kernel from inside it. Then download hsr0's ROM and flash it. Then flash the kernel from hsr0's ROM using fastboot. If it's dual SIM, just flash hsr0's ROM.
Both ROMs can be found in the the Android development section... sorry, it's night here, too sleepy to find the link right now...
I need to learn how to do that, can you link me some tutorials?
The phone is single SIM btw
sorry for the insistence, but I really need your help here

damn. I can read and I know how to search. I learned everything I need for my Nexus and didn't ask twice... But Xperia E has awful support (compared to GN) and there are some broken links. Is it so hard to explain with steps, and a more concrete explanation when you know what you're talking about.
That's not an excuse to insist someone give you all the steps when tutorials already exist.
You just got to search for them. They are complete, up to date and correct so you just need to read.

1) Unlock bootoader
2) Install kernel with cwm built-in
3) Install rom from cwm.
Kernel is flashed using fastboot.
I searched on how to unlock the bootloader when you don't have permission to do that: http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/ but couldn't find anything...
Is there a way to work around that or will the phone be always unable to install new roms or custom recoveries?

phoneunlockserver.com is where I got mine unlocked.
@CtrlAltDelIrl That website has a yellow WOT rating - I wouldn't go there.
@Rayaxe You don't have permission to unlock the bootloader? Then it's impossible to get CWM, and therefore impossible to get ROMs. Whoops, I was wrong. See below.

When you don't really know what you are talking about you should just keep quiet.
All Xperia Miro, J, E & Tipo can now be unlocked even if it says bootloader unlock allowed = No.
So I hope this clears up the disinformation written above.
As for your warnings on the site, maybe you should use a reliable and secure OS like Linux and visit it.

If the above had read any of this thread he would have seen it repeatedly that it is now possible to unlock all bootloaders. But instead he chose to skip on past and give his opinion which is totally wrong.
He then complains about the link I posted, the site is run a friend of the creator of setools and setools2 and is reliable.
My post is not the one which is rude, the abrupt, all knowing one above mine is.
Now run along and play if you have nothing to contribute.

You know, when I don't know what I'm talking about, I usually do shut up, first know what I'm talking about, then talk.
Can you show any proof for this? Prove this, then I'll see.
And yup, disinformation cleared - you mean to say it's possible to unlock the bootloader when bootloader isn't supposed to be unlockable, which I understood without you clearing it up for me.
As for using a “secure OS like Linux”, I already do - Android is based on the Linux kernel, remember? And the WOT warning was generated when I was on a Linux Mint machine, using Firefox.

This is not the only post that I'm complaining about.
Almost every post that I've seen from you in this section contains something offensive.
I'm just being honest, one day I swear you'll receive hell of infractions.

Oh right. It's a very old Sony Ericcson tool used to unlock bootloaders and so on.
It really is legit but it's relatively new, the latest hack is only about 6 weeks old. I was the first tester for all our firmwares so I know it works.
