Hello,
I'm a noob here at XDA and working with Android. I was wondering if z4root is a good way to root my Huawei Impulse 4G(U8800-51). If not, what is the best way to root this device?

You can try the GUIDE
[GUIDE] ROOT and CWM Recovery for Impulse 4G
ROOT for AT&T Impulse 4G (Huawei u8800-51)
NOTE: I take no credit for SuperOneClick, or the actual guide. I simply found it, simplified it, and reposed here. Thanks goes to CLShortFuse for SuperOneClick, and all the members at XDA-Developers, specifically in the Huawei Ideos x5 forum.
Also, I am not responsible for any bricked devices, loss of data, zombie infections, Rage fits, or thermonuclear warfare caused by this guide. Oh, and also, if you succeed, your warranty is now void. PLEASE follow the instructions to a T.

This guide will teach you how to root and install ClockWorkMod Recovery your AT&T Impulse 4G, also known as the Huawei Impulse 4G.
PRE-ROOT REQUIREMENTS:
Put the device in ADB mode (Settings\Applications\Development\check USB Debugging)
STEP 1
Plug device into computer and let the drivers install.
CHECK to make sure the ADB driver installed (Right click "Computer" and click Manage, and click Device Manager) If 'Ideos' is in 'Other Devices', you will need to start at Step 2. If 'Android Composite ADB Interface' shows up in 'Android Phone', you are good to go to Step 3)
STEP 2 (Ideos in Other Devices)
When the device was plugged in, 'CD Drive (E:\) Mobile Partner' should have popped up for AutoPlay. If it did not, check 'Computer' to see if it has. If it hasn't, unplug the device and plug it back in. Once it shows up, go back into Device Manager from Step 1 and right click 'Ideos' in 'Other Devices' and select 'Update Driver'. Click on Install Driver Manually instead of Searh Online and browse to E:\drivers. This will install the ADB drivers needed to root.
STEP 3 (ADB Drivers Installed, now to root)
Now that your device has ADB drivers installed and working, download SuperOneClick v2.1 from http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=674200&d=1312258565
Extract all the files into a folder, and run SuperOneClick with Admin permissions (right click SuperOneClick, select Run as Administrator)
After SuperOneClick opens, simply click the 'Root' button on the top.
NOTE: It may freeze up a few times, as if it stopped responding. That is normal.
As it goes through its process, it will eventually stop and tell you 'busybox is not installed. Install?' Hit yes, and yes to all the other prompts. At the end, it will tell you that your device is now rooted. TA-DAAAAA. Reboot your device and the root is complete.
STEP 4 (CWM Time)
Download CWM here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=741968&d=1317928514
Turn the device off, and press and hold Volume Up, Down and Power buttons simultaneously. The AT&T logo will pop up, and then a pink-purple screen will pop up over it. Plug the device into your computer and let the drivers install. A popup may tell you some drivers didn't install, that's ok. A single, unnamed Removable Storage device will come up; open it. Take the 'recovery.img' file in there and rename it to 'recovery-backup.img', then copy the recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.6-u8800.img' to the storage device. Rename it to 'recovery.img'.
IMPORTANT: Make sure to 'Safely Remove Device' before unplugging!
After unplugging, remove the battery and reinsert it, and hold Volume Up and Power buttons to boot into CWM.
There you have it, Root and CWM. I've begun toying around with ROMs, I will try to port CM7.1 to this device, along with a customized, clean version of the stock ROM. Enjoy!

Hi, I know this post is old, but I got one U8800-51 with damaged charge port and I couldn't find any root strategy using some root APK. I've used KingRoot, KingoRoot, Poot (with Ministro libraries), FramaRoot, TowelRoot, z4root, GingerBreak and nothing happens. Always says "Error". I'm using Android Froyo 2.2 in that phone.
I regret reliving this old post, but I do it out of mere necessity. I live in Venezuela and this mobile phone here is still common.
I see as a last resort repair the charge port, but for now I do not have the necessary resources.
I appreciate the help you can give me.
Dear all,
i have recently purchased Micromax A87. and now i am facing problems while running big apps like temple run etc. i got to know that its happening because my phone has Low Ram. then i tried to increase my ram by partition but for that i need to root my phone.
then i tried so many times to root my device but unsuccessful.
i am trying rooting process through below mentioned method :-
1. Download jdk 32bit only from here, Android sdk from here, Unlock root from here, adb_usb.ini from here and A87 drivers from here.

4. Now on your phone goto settings>applications>development>enable usb debugging and connect usb cable, it should say usb debugging mode and show a little green android icon on the topleft (if not then reinsert cable or re enable usb debugging)
5. Windows will detect the device, let it stabilize then extract A87 drivers to a location say "C:/drivers"
6. Now goto start type "device manger" open device manager, you wil find "android adb interface" right click upgrade drivers and lead it to a location of your extracted drivers, do the same with other devices you get with an exclamation icon. (dont worry if you dont find other devices, its fine)

If the exclamation icon appears it should root, make sure the driver instructions are followed, Device Not Found appears only when the adb drivers are not recognized.
problem while rooting micromax a87
Hi all,
First of all, i would like to thank every1, developers, moderators as well as guests for their informative posts posted in simple way so that noobs like me could also follow!!
I recently purchased micromax a87 mobile after lot of research as it is my first android. Knew it had low RAM but couldn't resist d other features at the reasonable price, and thought that I could tweak the RAM by rooting. I followed the steps at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1896665 :
1. Download jdk 32bit only from here, Android sdk from here, Unlock root from here, adb_usb.ini from here and A87 drivers from here.
2. Install jdk
3. install Android sdk, after installing open sdk manager form star and select "android sdk platform-tools" and "google usb driver" unselect the rest, click install packages. After installing put the adb_usb.ini file in "C:\Users\(your PC name)\.android"

I had installed the "ADT bundle for windows", from the link given to download android sdk. After installing Android sdk, whenever i'm trying to run "sdk manager" from the start button, it opens a command prompt window giving d error msg : "Failed to execute tools\android.bat ; , error 2 The system cannot find the file specified." However, on checking manually, i could find d "android.bat" file present in d "tools" folder.
i uninstalled and reinstalled everything all over again(including jdk). Still, the same problem. However i could launch the sdk manager successfully by selecting "sdk manager" option from the "window" drop down list of the webpage window that opens up automatically on completion of android sdk installation. In the sdk manager, i selected only "google usb driver" option since the "Android SDK platform tools" was already installed during the android sdk installation. (Also, some other packages got pre-installed such as: "android SDK tools", "SDK platform", "ARM EABI v7a System Image" and "Android Support Library".) I left them as they were and installed only "google usb driver".
followed d rest of d steps letter by letter, yet in the final step, when I hit "root", and select my device, (MMX A87), unlock root gives d message : "your device is already rooted. Do you want to root it again?".
I checked d same using d app "Root Checker Basic" which then showed " Sorry! The device does not have proper root access." Still I went ahead with rooting and selected "yes" in "..Do you want to root your device again?" message by unlockroot software. Unlockroot showed "Rooting succeded/successful (don't remember exactly)" and i then hit "yes" when prompted by unlockroot to reboot the phone. However, for some reason the phone didn't reboot automatically, and i had to power it on using the power button. checked root access status again with "Root Checker Basic" app and it showed d same message: " Sorry! The device does not have proper root access."
I really love this mobile and want to utilise its full power by increasing the RAM. PLS HELP!!!
THANX AGAIN..

Hi dude,
I recently rooted my friend's mmx a87. I gone through all the instructions mentioned in this forum & other sites. The thing happened to me is different. I use windows 7 (64 bit), when I inserted mmx a87 with mass storage to my computer an autorun popup asks me to install the stock driver within mmx a87. I just ran through the installation progress by accepting the app run request. It took nearly 3 minutes to complete the installation. After I connected the mmx a87 in debugging mode and my system says unknown device in device manager. Then I used the driver package from mmx website for this a87, extracted the zip file to a location.
Now in device manager, go to the other devices (it has an exclamation mark) under that there'll be unknown device, right click on it, select update driver, select "let me choose" option, at "include this directly" section browse the folder where you have extracted the drivers from zip file and don't forget to check "include sub-directory", click next and it's all done. The unknown device will be now android adb device. Now do rooting using Unlock Root application with same procedure listed this forum.
Also please reply whether you have succeeded, so others can get benefited too.
Enjoy Folks!!!

I'm using windows 7, when i installed the sdk, it just opened but there was no sign of google usb driver there in the extras menu,, please help me out for this,,,
Disclaimer: I am not responsible if you brick your phone. And I am sorry if I posted it on the wrong spot.
Anyways, a while ago I had a terrible accident for my phone. I installed ChainFire3D on my A369i which is running 4.2.2. And since ChainFire3d is not compatible with JB, so, I am stuck in the boot screen. This is a very big problem, for the phone is a new model - no roms, no firmwares, no updates. But, I managed to fix everything. And I decided to put up a thread in case I forgot how I did it. So, here goes:
To fix it, first, I managed to install TWRP. Here's how:
Download the USB-driver for Lenovo A369i. You should use this driver and not any driver that looks like it.
Download and install the SP Flash Tool
Download TWRP recovery for SP Flash Tool.
Unpack the archives.
Turn off phone. Remove battery.
Run SP Flash Tool.
Click File> Open Scatter-loading file ... and select the file from the folder MT6572_Android_scatter_emmc.txt that is inside the TWRP recovery file.
Click the Download button and answer Yes (Yes) to the question;
Open Device Manager from the Properties of My Computer. Get it ready.
Connect phone to PC using USB cable.
This part is tricky. Open Device Manager and browse to Other devices category. You should see Preloader being installed. But Windows could not find its drivers. So, you right click it, and click Update driver, and browse to Lenovo A369i driver folder you have downloaded. You should be fast to do this, for the phone when plug in to PC without battery will turn on and off and on and off.
If everything is correct, you will see red bar in SP Flash Tool, then yellow, then a green circle.
Reboot phone to recovery, and you now have TWRP.
Second, to uninstall ChainFire3d, I used TWRP
Under TWRP, click Mount, click System, then go back to Home page.
Click Advance, click File Manager, browse to /system/lib
Look for libGLESv1_CM.so and rename it to libGLESv1_CMcf.so
Then, look for libGLESv1_CM_ORG_CF3D.so and rename it to libGLESv1_CM.so
Then, click chmod and change it to 644.
Look for libGLESv2.so and rename it to libGLESv2cf.so
Then, look for libGLESv2_ORG_CF3D.so and rename it to libGLESv2.so
Then, click chmod and change it to 644.
Reboot and wait. Phone is fixed.
Next, was to root it. Here's how:
Use motochopper exploit.
Unpack zip file..
Enable USB Debugging mode.
Connect your device to your PC via USB.
Explore to extracted directory and run run.bat

Root & TWRP Lenovo Tab 2 A8-50F (MT8161)
Ok so this is a in depth tutorial on obtaining root and installing twrp for the device in the title. Anything in "quotes" eg, type in cmd "adb devices" quotes should be ignored. This guide is for those who know what root is and know there way around windows and Linux. If you did something wrong i am not liable and maybe you should have read things before trying.
EDIT: for those of you who want to root in one or two clicks i have added support for this device in the ZEUS TOOLKIT wich will root without installing custom recovery.. LINK >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2644166
REQUIREMENTS/DOWNLOADS:
-Windows PC & Linux (Ubuntu. virtual box would be fine although i have my pc dual booting both os's)
-Driver Signing Disabled on Windows 7 and above
-Device Drivers
-SpFlash Tool (including scatter file)
-Adb Tools
-TWRP + SuperSU Files
-Insecure Boot.img
LINK FOR ALL REQUIRED FILES >> DOWNLOAD << DOWNLAOAD AND EXTRACT TO DESKTOP
Downlaod all of the above and extract/move everything to a folder which for this guide i will assume will be called ROOT on your DESKTOP
SOME READING:
The Lenovo Tab 2 A8-50F is a rather locked down device with the ability to reflash the stock rom on every reboot if required. In this guide you can only do things in a specific order to be able to get it rooted and stop the stock recovery reflashing. It took me a few times of (soft)bricking my device before i could get it sorted to a stable rooted system with twrp installed. TWRP recovery was not built from source by me personally (it was obtained from a russian website) although i have had to modify the TWRP image as it was boot looping but its sorted and working now. So roughly this is how things are going to go, we will use SpFlash tool to readback the system partition, then use linux to modify a file in the system.img the use SpFlashtool to refalsh the modified system.img. Then we are going to unlock the bootloader and then flash an insecure boot.img along with twrp and then root using chainfire's latest binarys.
THE GUIDE:
STEP 1 - installing the drivers
For this i will assume you you have already got adb driver installed if not please google it i personally used googles generic adb driver.
Please make sure you have disabled driver signing for windows "GO HERE". Now open device manager and right click on your pc's name at the top of the list and select add legacy hardware > click next > check "install the hardaware that i manually select from a list (advance)" and click next > highlight "show all devices" and click next > click "have Disk" > click "browse" > browse to the desktop\root\MTK Drivers all windows\ and choose the folder to match your windows installation and then choose the 32bit or 64bit driver file depending on your windows install > click open > click ok > highlight "MTK USB PORT" > click next > click next > if a warning pops up click install anyway > click finish. Your drivers are now installed for spflash tool to recognise your device.
STEP 2 - backing up system partition
Make sure your device is truned off and disconnected from your computer. Open SPFlash Tool form "Desktop\ROOT\SPFlash_tool\flash_tool.exe" > click "scatter-loading button > browse to "Desktop\Root\ and open MT6735_Android_scatter.txt > click the readback tab > click add > double click the entry which is now listed >browse to "Desktop\Root" and in the filename box type "system.img" > click save > check "HEX" > for region select EMMC_USER > for start address type "0xb000000" > for length type "0x74000000" > click ok > click readback. now with your device turned off connect the usb and the SPFlash tool will begin to backup your system partition to "Desktop\Root\system.img" wait until its finished and continue to the next step.
STEP 3 - editing the system.img
Now we have the system.img transfer it via usb (or whatever means) to your ubuntu machine place system.img in your ~/Home/ folder eg. ~/Home/System.img now open a terminal by pressing CTRL + T > type "mkdir output" press enter > now type "sudo mount -t ext4 -o loop system.img output/" press enter > type your sudo password > press enter > type " cd output" press enter > type "sudo mv recovery-from-boot.p recovery-from-boot.bak" press enter > type "cd" press enter > type "sudo umount output/" press enter. The system.img has now been modified and can be transfered back to windows. Goto next step.
STEP 4 - unlocking bootloader
With device booted to android and usb debugging enabled open cmd prompt and type "cd C:\Users\robert\Desktop\ROOT\adb" > (replace "robert" with your username) press enter > type "adb reboot bootloader". Your device will now reboot into fastboot mode when it displays "fastboot mode in the bottom left of the screen type into cmd "fastboot oem unlock" > press enter > screen will change and ask you to confirm do this by pressing vol+ > wait and when a screen with three boot options appears DO NOTHING and go to next step.
STEP 5 - flashing insecure boot.img
Now you should have the ability to flash the boot. Type into cmd "fastboot flash boot boot.img" the device will let you know it is done and when it is done flashing just type into cmd "fastboot reboot" and let the device fully boot and goto the next step.
STEP 6 - flashing modified system.img
now open SPFlash tool again it should have remembered the scatterfile if not reload the scatter file. In the main window of the download tab make sure ONLY system is checked then in the location colum click the space in line with system and browse to your modified system.img and click open. At this point before doing anything make sure your device is turned off and not connected to the computer in any way. Now click Download in SPFlash tool then connect your device via usb while turned off and the tool will begin flashing the system.img wait until it is finished and a green tick appears in flash tool and if your device does not boot automatically then unplug it and reboot it wait until it fully rebooted and goto next step. You can close flash tool for now.
STEP 7 - flashing TWRP recovery
with your devfice now booted with a custom boot and system image open cmd prompt and type "cd C:\Users\robert\Desktop\ROOT\adb" > (replace "robert" with your username) press enter > type "adb reboot bootloader" > press enter your device will boot into fastboot mode again when it has type "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" > press enter > when its done type "fastboot reboot" > press enter now wait for the device to fully boot and goto next step
STEP 8 - flashing Supersu by Chainfire
Now your device has rebooted it will be missing the super user app and all binary's so open file explorer on your computer and copy the SuperSU-v2.46.zip from the ROOT folder on the desktop to the download folder on your device after doing that open cmd prompt and type "cd C:\Users\robert\Desktop\ROOT\adb" > (replace "robert" with your username) press enter > type "adb reboot recovery" > press enter. Your device will now reboot into TWRP recovery check the little box and swipe the arrow at the bottom to continue now touch install > touch Download > touch SuperSU-v2.46.zip and finally swipe to install. when it is finished reboot. Hey presto one rooted device with a fully working twrp. reboot and download busybox from play store and install as some programs like system app remover need some binarys from busybox.
After following the above steps you will have a fully rooted device wich can be backed up via twrp and flashed via twrp. now i have figured this out, i think its someone elses turn to build a rom for it preferably Cyanogenmod Thanks for reading this guide and all the best luck with your new rooted device. please remember to click thanks.
Have you found a way to root it without the need for Linux?
Hi
I would like to know if this guide will work for MT-8735
Thanks in advance,
Dimitris
Anyone found a way to root MT8735 version A8-50L or A8-50LC?
The files seem to be missing...
Any help would be much appreciated. I used the guide fine up until the Step 5.
Now I'm a bit stuck.

I used something called Kingroot along with the info and files found here https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Androi...-to-root-TAB2-A8-50-WiFi-version/td-p/2181021 to help me root without using linux. There is a ROM listed there. If you use Kingroot.apk, you'll have to run it 2 or 3 times to get the ROOT to stick, then you can enable debugging, and oem unlocking in dev options. Afterwards, you can use fastboot to unlock the bootloader and once that's done, use the SP Flash tool to download Max Choen's rom to the device, install SuperSU and Busybox and your gravy!!!
what files? that post does not have any files provided and could someone upload the files that are missing from the post so we could also use them?

If you guys read the entire post in the link I sent you might be able to get where I got. I'm not a dev and not much for writing tutorials but my process went,
1. KingRoot
2. Unlock boot loader
3. Flash twrp via fastboot or flashify
4. Factory reset
5. Reinstall King root and re root.
6. Format and partition memory card
7. Install apps2sd
8. Install Xposed
9. Install obb to SD module
10. Enjoy tablet with 64gb of space with tons of large data games installed!!!! (Note that this step requires you own a 64 gig memory card)

I will post it in the morning, I think it's on my wife's laptop. The link I posted USED TO lead you to a post that had the files I mentioned and the process I followed. Now they are just suggesting you simply root using Kingo... Which is fine and dandy but does not give you the ability to format your memory card. I will post my recovery image for yall in the morning. You would just have to use KingRoot and then flash TWRP using Flashify once you have a successful root. Then you can format your card and install apps2sd of your choice and xposed with the obb2sd module! That's what I got going on, got TONS of large data games on the tablet cause I installed a very fast 64gb memory card, and BIGGITY BAM!!!! Turned this little budget tablet into something decent for the kiddos! Just wish we could do something about that terrible 1gb of memory, but hell, I was able to get this far so I'm pretty happy!:good:

Here it is!
Had some things to take care of first. Got a wife and kids to care for before I do my geek stuff. This is not a flashable zip! You must unzip the .img file and use Flashify after a successful KingRoot.
P.S. all credit goes to the original creators of this build of twrp I originally obtained in This Very XDA post we are conversing in! All I did was download this file, I am not a dev andi do not take credit or responsibility for any of the files I've used to root this device! Cheers!!!!
Okay... Thanks. I have SuperSU installed and working. TWRP installed and working, but I haven't unlocked the bootloader.
Will this prevent me from installing xposed framework, do you know?
And the which apps, by which developers, do you install to move apps to SD card?
Thanks for your help!

I am using Link2SD, Xposed OBB2SD module. That's about it. Not sure if bootloader unlocking is even necessary for anything.

Can you flash supersu from stock recovery or do i have to flash twrp first?
I used KingRoot (ver 4.8.2) to root my Lenovo Tab2 A8-50F Tablet.
I used KingRoot as part of a SuperTool. The SuperTool, using a batchfile script, also removed KingRoot after the tablet was rooted and then installed SuperSU.
The SuperTool (April 6, 2016 version) was created by xda's RootJunky for the Amazon Fire 7 5th gen tablet, using KingRoot and SuperSU, but it rooted my Lenovo Tab2 A8-50F Tablet, uninstalled KingRoot and installed SuperSU, all with only a couple of mouse clicks.
Even if you are already rooted with KingRoot, you can use this tool to uninstall KingRoot and install SuperSU. (Just run the tool, let it re-install KingRoot, don't run KingRoot but hit Enter on the SuperTool to then uninstall KingRoot and install SuperSU).
Lenovo Tab2 A8-50F Tablet info:
Model Number: Lenovo TAB 2 A8-50F
Android version: 5.1
Kernel version: 3.10.65
Build number: A8-50F_S000037_151023_ROW
Software version: A8-50F_151023
Hardware version; LenovoPad A8-50F
The SuperTool batch file script rooted the tablet with KingRoot and then uninstalled KingRoot and installed SuperSu.
I have since installed ES File Manager, Titanium Backup, Link2sd on the tablet. Root is totally working. Rooted with only a couple of clicks!
Just enable Developer options on Lenovo Tab2 A8-50F (by tapping tablet Build Number 7 to 10 times [Settings, About Tablet, Build Number (tap 7 to 10 times)]), enable USB debugging on Tablet in the Developer options settings.
Connect Tablet to Windows 10 with a USB data cable (I used the USB 2.0 port). When screen message on the Tablet mentions connections, make sure it is in the MTP mode.
Extract RootJunky's SuperTool Zip file to the Windows 10 desktop.
Run RootJunky's SuperTool (Amazon-Fire-5th-gen.bat) You may have to read the instructions on the pages below and install adb drivers. Pick option #6 Root. Choose Option #3: version 5.1.2. This will run a script that installs KingRoot, allows you to run it manually, and then removes KingRoot and installs SuperSU.
Press enter and KingRoot will be installed on the Tablet from the SuperTool. (approve any messages that appear on Tablet screen) Now don't touch the PC SuperTool until the Tablet is rooted.
Open KingRoot on the Tablet and run it. You may have to run KingRoot several times and the Tablet may reboot. Just keep running KingRoot until the Tablet is rooted. After KingRoot reaches 100%, then press ENTER on the PC.
The SuperTool will now uninstall KingRoot and install SuperSU on the Tablet.
Choose NORMAL SuperSU install on the Tablet when prompted. When SuperSU is installed, reboot the Tablet. Disconnect data cable.
After reboot the Lenovo Tab2 A8-50F Tablet is rooted. There will be a request by SuperSU to upgrade. Approve it. You can now install Titanium Backup, Link2sd, ES File Manager, etc. Your Tablet is rooted. As easy as that. THANKS ROOTJUNKY!!!

Hello. Has anyone rooted the Ulefone Power 6 yet? Im looking to have TWRP installed onto my new Power 6. My goal is to figure out a way to add user profiles, as it currently does not have them activated. I read online that you could edit the .prop to have any android activate the user profiles, but i cannot do this without my phone being rooted. Thanks in advance.

Sorry, This is for the original Ulefone Power, not the Power 6. Different phones. The instructions didn't lead me to anything useful. I have since update my phone to the latest firmware via the stock update app. I still haven't found a successful way to root the Power 6. There is this thread (https://www.getdroidtips.com/root-ulefone-power-6/), but the ADB commands to not work, and does not fastboot my phone to install the patched image. But either way, the instructions do not include a TWRP, so Im back to square one. HELP!
How to root Ulefone Power 6 (Build Power_6_SF1_V07) Updated 9/22/2019
OK. It was tough, but I finally found a way to root the Ulefone Power 6. I still haven't figured out a way to install TWRP, but that's because i have to build a custom recovery, and that's too advanced for me. So, anyone is welcomed to help out with building a custom recovery for TWRP. As for the root, This is what you will need:
Pre-Requirements:
Device battery charged up to 50%.
Developer Options enabled with OEM Unlocking and USB Debugging enabled
Remember to take a full backup of device data (Internal Storage, SMS), it will get formatted.
A Windows or Mac PC/Laptop is necessary to flash Magisk
A USB cable to connect your device with your PC
Download Links:
Download Minimal ADB Fastboot 1.4.3 (Portable). Extract it to your desktop.
It's best to give administrator privileges to the tools before you use them. To give them admin privileges:
Right click on adb.exe and select "Properties" at the bottom of the menu. Click on the "Compatability" Tab and check the "Run this program as an Administrator" box. Click on the "Apply" button and then the "OK" button to close the properties window.
Repeat the same process for the "cmd-here.exe" and the "fastboot.exe" files.
Ulefone USB Drivers. Extract it to your desktop and make sure you install the drivers.
MTK USB Drivers. Extract it to your desktop and make sure you install the drivers.
Latest Ulefone Power 6 Stock ROM. Or you could make a back up yourself. (latest rom as of 2/25/20 is GQ3081SF1_M860B1_Ulefone_20190921_V07(Non-EU) ).Extract it to your desktop.
MTK SP Multi Port Download Tool. This will be used to flash the most recent Ulefone rom on your device. Extract it to your desktop.
Download Magisk Manager
After downloading the Stock ROM (will be a .ZIP file), extract it to your PC.
Connect your device via USB cable
Find the "boot.img" file inside the Stock Rom folder you just extracted and copy only the "boot.img" file to your devices storage.
Copy Magisk Manager.apk to your devices storage
Using your device, install Magisk Manager
Open the Magisk Manager on your device.
Select "Install" from the first option next to "Magisk is not installed" and again select install.
Now, tap on "Select and Patch a File".
Go to your devices storage where you have copied the "boot.img" file earlier and select it.
Magisk will start patching the boot image.
Once the boot image is patched, Magisk will save the image on your "Download" folder located on your devices storage.
Locate the patched image (magisk_patched.img) and copy the "magisk_patched.img" to your PC. Make sure the patched image (magisk_patched.img) is inside the same folder as the extracted ADB and Fastboot tool folder on your desktop.
Open/run MTK SP Multi Port Download Tool
Click on File from the Menu located at the top right and select "Open Download Agent File"
Locate and select "MTK_ALLInOne_DA.bin", located in the same folder as the MTK SP Multi Port Download Tool folder.
Press the "Open buton" to select the file and close the window.
Now, click on the "Scatter File" button located at the top left.
Locate and select the XXXXXXXX_scatter.txt file located inside the extracted Ulefone Power 6 Stock Rom folder.
Press the "Open buton" to select the file and close the window.
Now, tick the "BootRom+PreLoader COM Sel All" check box located under the "scatter file" button.
Now, Click on the "Scan" button located at the bottom right.
Select Yes from the pop up window
Now, power off you device and disconnect your device from your PC by removing the USB cable from your device.
Now, reconnect the USB cable to your device while it is powered off.
MTK SP Multi Port Download Tool should detect your device and a green bar should appear confirming the connection with the words "Scan Success!" to the left of the green bar.
Press the "Stop all" button located at the bottom right
Disconnect and reconnect your device from your PC
Uncheck the "BootRom+PreLoader COM Sel All" box and check only the line with the green bar.
Click on the tiny "Start" button located to the right of the green bar.
You can confirm the flash was successful when the words "PASS" is visible to the right of the tiny "Start" & "Stop" buttons
Once the flashing is complete, you can close MTK SP Multi Port Download Tool and power on your device.
Configure your device to get to the home screen (skipping as many options as you can. You will have to format one more time) and enable Developer Options, OEM Unlocking and USB Debugging again.
Make sure your device is connected to your PC.
Now, you need to open up a command window (cmd window) inside the Minimal ADB Fastboot 1.4.3 (Portable) folder. To do this, open the "cmd-here.exe" file.
Next, enter the following command in the cmd window:
adb devices
(this command will confirm your device is connected to your PC via ADB )
Your device will show a pop up window asking for permission to connect via ADB. Click on the "Always Trust This Device" and Accept the connection
If successful, you should see the word "Device" to the right of your devices name on the list that the cmd window created.
Next, enter the following command:
adb reboot-bootloader
(This command will boot your device into fastboot/bootloader mode. It will turn off and the device will have a black lit screen)
Check that your device is connected to your pc by entering the following command:
fastboot devices
(this command will confirm your device is connected to your PC via fastboot/bootloader mode ) If successful, you should see the word "Device" to the right of your devices name on the list that the cmd window created.
Next, enter the following command:
fastboot flashing unlock
(if nothing happens, press the Volume up+ on your phone to start the unlocking of the bootloader)
(this will unlock your bootloader)
Next, enter the following command:
fastboot getvar unlocked
(this will confirm you have unlocked your bootloader. It will say "unlocked: yes")
Next, enter the following command:
fastboot flash boot magisk_patched.img
(This will replace your stock image with the patched image you created using Magisk Manager)
Next, enter the following command to reboot your phone:
fastboot reboot
Install magisk manager using your file manager. Make sure to follow directions when it asks you to give special permissions to install.
Open Magisk Manager and click on "OK" when it starts up and asks you for "additional setup".
Congratulations! Your device is rooted.
Extra notes:
If you come across a red watermark with the Chinese words and "Tee Keys" and/or "Google Keys" on the top right of your devices screen, this is how you fix it.
make sure your device is turned on and connected to your PC.
Open "cmd-here.exe" located in the Minimal ADB Fastboot 1.4.3 (Portable) folder.
Next, enter the following command:
adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.mediatek.factorymode
(This command will not do anything at the moment, but will remove the watermark after you reboot your device)
Next, enter the following command to reboot your device:
adb reboot
The watermark should be removed when your device restarts again.
ENJOY!

Thanks a heap for all these instructions, would not have been able to do this without them.
Just a few extra pieces of information for anyone else caryring out the above steps:
- If you your stock ROM doesn't have a file manager in order to open/execute the MagiskManager APK file then using Chrome to download the APK file will allow you to execute it.
- in the SP Multi Port Tool, after checking the line with the green bar and clicking start you'll notice the time in seconds counting next to the start button. At this point you may need to unplug your USB cable and replug it in order for the SP Multi Port Tool to detect the devices and actually start properly
- If the SP Multi Port Tool requires a checksum.ini file you can follow the instructions on the hovatek site (Google 'checksum.ini generatemediatek hovatek' I'm a new user so can't post links):
Note there is a download link for the CheckSum_Gen.zip file which will require you to register for an account on the hovatek website. You can create a junk/throw away account with a fake email as it doesn't require email confirmation. Also all of the files inside the CheckSum_Gen.zip folder need to be placed inside of the stock ROM folder where the scatter file is located.
- The watermark can only be removed after the MagiskManager carries out its additional setup and after root access is complete.
Still hoping to find a compatible TWRP recovery. If anyone builds one please let us know!
Hi, 19Henry83
I did try your method and it works great. I rooted my Power 6. The thing is I did this in hope to fix a freezing touchscreen issue. Touch screen frezzes and I need to lock/unlock my phone constantly to fix it. Now I'm convinced this is not a software issue and I will return the phone to the seller. So I wanted to get back to the original firmware. When I do that however there is still that red watermark and my IMEI is deleted. Is there any way to get back to the factory software and not have the red watermark, as I assume it will void my warranty.
I Need help please ,, I need the TWRP Recovery, Tool / Utility for the Ulefone Power 6, I have looked for it in many web pages and I cannot find it, all the ones I find have the same name "3.3.1 Power 6" and not It works for me when I install them, I get the same recovery that I had when I try to enter

Hello Jiroscop. I had the same problem and only noticed after i read your post. Now, a couple months later, i managed to use an IMEI changer to insert my IMEI found on my original box where my phone came in. It should have two IMEIs. I don't know if i can explain on this forum. Try researching it on your own and get back to me if you cannot find a way to fix your phone.
NOTE: you will need your original IMEI's, changing the IMEI's with anything other than the original ones will brick your phone.
