[Q] Having Problem while Rooting Micromax A87 - General Questions and Answers

Dear all,
i have recently purchased Micromax A87. and now i am facing problems while running big apps like temple run etc. i got to know that its happening because my phone has Low Ram. then i tried to increase my ram by partition but for that i need to root my phone.
then i tried so many times to root my device but unsuccessful.
i am trying rooting process through below mentioned method :-
1. Download jdk 32bit only from here, Android sdk from here, Unlock root from here, adb_usb.ini from here and A87 drivers from here.
2. Install jdk
3. install Android sdk, after installing open sdk manager form star and select "android sdk platform-tools" and "google usb driver" unselect the rest, click install packages. After installing put the adb_usb.ini file in "C:\Users\(your PC name)\.android"
4. Now on your phone goto settings>applications>development>enable usb debugging and connect usb cable, it should say usb debugging mode and show a little green android icon on the topleft (if not then reinsert cable or re enable usb debugging)
5. Windows will detect the device, let it stabilize then extract A87 drivers to a location say "C:/drivers"
6. Now goto start type "device manger" open device manager, you wil find "android adb interface" right click upgrade drivers and lead it to a location of your extracted drivers, do the same with other devices you get with an exclamation icon. (dont worry if you dont find other devices, its fine)
7. Install Unlock root, open it and click root, it wil ask for the device select micromax A87 and Your done !!!
8. Press Thanks !! Have a nice day !!
but when click on root its says " Device Not Found".
GUYS !! PLEASE HELP I REALLY WANT TO ROOT MY PHONE......

I have faced the same problem. Still unable to root.

If the exclamation icon appears it should root, make sure the driver instructions are followed, Device Not Found appears only when the adb drivers are not recognized.

problem while rooting micromax a87
Hi all,
First of all, i would like to thank every1, developers, moderators as well as guests for their informative posts posted in simple way so that noobs like me could also follow!!
I recently purchased micromax a87 mobile after lot of research as it is my first android. Knew it had low RAM but couldn't resist d other features at the reasonable price, and thought that I could tweak the RAM by rooting. I followed the steps at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1896665 :

I had installed the "ADT bundle for windows", from the link given to download android sdk. After installing Android sdk, whenever i'm trying to run "sdk manager" from the start button, it opens a command prompt window giving d error msg : "Failed to execute tools\android.bat ; , error 2 The system cannot find the file specified." However, on checking manually, i could find d "android.bat" file present in d "tools" folder.
i uninstalled and reinstalled everything all over again(including jdk). Still, the same problem. However i could launch the sdk manager successfully by selecting "sdk manager" option from the "window" drop down list of the webpage window that opens up automatically on completion of android sdk installation. In the sdk manager, i selected only "google usb driver" option since the "Android SDK platform tools" was already installed during the android sdk installation. (Also, some other packages got pre-installed such as: "android SDK tools", "SDK platform", "ARM EABI v7a System Image" and "Android Support Library".) I left them as they were and installed only "google usb driver".
followed d rest of d steps letter by letter, yet in the final step, when I hit "root", and select my device, (MMX A87), unlock root gives d message : "your device is already rooted. Do you want to root it again?".
I checked d same using d app "Root Checker Basic" which then showed " Sorry! The device does not have proper root access." Still I went ahead with rooting and selected "yes" in "..Do you want to root your device again?" message by unlockroot software. Unlockroot showed "Rooting succeded/successful (don't remember exactly)" and i then hit "yes" when prompted by unlockroot to reboot the phone. However, for some reason the phone didn't reboot automatically, and i had to power it on using the power button. checked root access status again with "Root Checker Basic" app and it showed d same message: " Sorry! The device does not have proper root access."
I really love this mobile and want to utilise its full power by increasing the RAM. PLS HELP!!!
THANX AGAIN..

Hi dude,
I recently rooted my friend's mmx a87. I gone through all the instructions mentioned in this forum & other sites. The thing happened to me is different. I use windows 7 (64 bit), when I inserted mmx a87 with mass storage to my computer an autorun popup asks me to install the stock driver within mmx a87. I just ran through the installation progress by accepting the app run request. It took nearly 3 minutes to complete the installation. After I connected the mmx a87 in debugging mode and my system says unknown device in device manager. Then I used the driver package from mmx website for this a87, extracted the zip file to a location.
Now in device manager, go to the other devices (it has an exclamation mark) under that there'll be unknown device, right click on it, select update driver, select "let me choose" option, at "include this directly" section browse the folder where you have extracted the drivers from zip file and don't forget to check "include sub-directory", click next and it's all done. The unknown device will be now android adb device. Now do rooting using Unlock Root application with same procedure listed this forum.
Also please reply whether you have succeeded, so others can get benefited too.
Enjoy Folks!!!

A quick tutorial to ROOT Micromax A50 Ninja

Please charge your phone atleast 50% or above before you follow the guide.
I am not providing any screenshots.
Steps:
1. Download all the attached files to this post.
2. Unzip mt65x3 usb vcom drivers.7z and install the drivers.
3. Create a folder in C drive or anywhere you like and unzip SP Flash Tool v2.1134.00.7z.
4. Copy the files MT6573_Android_scatter.txt and boot.img to the folder you created and unzipped the SP Flash Tool v2.1134.00.7z.
5. Open the folder where you extracted SP Flash Tool v2.1134.00.7z and right click on the Flash_tool.exe and run as Administrator.
6. In the Flash tool window, click on File and Open Scatter-loading File and on the pop-up window, select the file MT6573_Android_scatter.txt and click Open
7. A pop-up might appear, click OK and if you see any kind of error, ignore it.
8. A list on the bottom pane should appear of the flash tool window. Uncheck all excet BOOTIMG and click or double click on the BOOTIMG. On the pop-up window, select the boot.img file that you copied earlier and Open.
9. Click on Options of the Flash tool and click USB Mode if not selected.
10. Now you are ready to flash your phone.
11. Switch off your phone and take out the battery. Put your battery back on the phone. Do not switch on. Connect it to your PC with the USB cable without pressing any button on the phone. Now windows should find the drivers and install it. After drivers are installed, unplug the cable from your phone. Take out the battery from the phone and put it back again. Do not switch on.
12. Now on the Flash Tool window click on the Download button. A message will appear on the bottom right of the window 'Please insert USB cable in 14 seconds', with the counter running. While its running, connect your phone to the PC. If you fail to do it, repeat Step 12.
13. When connected properly, you will see a yellow progress bar, after finishing 100% a pop up window will appear saying BOOTIMG downloaded. You are done.
14. Now unplug your phone, take the battery out, put it back and start the phone normally as you do. Let it fully boot. (Nothing should be wrong, cuz nothing happened to mine. I tested it first. Ashik Anwar second.)
15. Enable USB Debugging on your phone and and connect it to the PC.
16. Installing USB ADB Drivers or USB Debugging Drivers:
Unzip usb_driver.zip.
Open 'Device Manager'.
Right click on 'Micromax A50' and click 'Update Driver Software'.
On the new window, click 'Browse my computer for driver software', then click 'Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer'.
Click 'Have Disk'.
On the new Pop-up window, click 'Browse' and go to the folder where you previously unzipped the drivers and open the folder usb_driver.
Now select from the list of files 'android_winusb.inf' and click 'Open', then click 'OK'.
Now from the list of 3 options, select 'Android ADB Interface' and click 'Next'.
An 'Update Driver Warning' will appear, click 'Yes'.
Another Warning will appear asking 'Would you like to install this device software.
Click Install.
Now the drivers should be installed.
17. Now unzip unlockroot23.zip and install the unlockroot23.exe and run the program.
18. Now time to root. On the UnlockRoot window, click ROOT and the program will root it. When finished, it will ask you to restart your phone. So switch it off and switch it on again.
19. Now after you have switched on your phone, browse through the Apps Drawer. You should find an application called Superuser.
You are ROOTED!!!
Still check it by installing an app that needs root permissions, like Root Explorer.
Install BusyBox from PlayStore cuz some programs need it for root access.
Thanx to Varun for providing the modified boot.img and thanx to all the developers for their hard work in cracking and hacking Android for the benefit of the people.
To overclock, Install MTK CPU-Control test from PlayStore. Doesnt need root.
You can overclock upto 806MHz. Enable Set on boot.
Overclock To 754MHz for stability issues.
Enjoy folks!!!
EDIT:
If you are getting error while flashing, repeat the steps.
If you are unable to boot, please flash the original_boot.img
Remember to run the Flash Tool as Administrator
Also the UnlockRoot program as Administrator

Read this whole website for anything related to Mediatek processors for flashing.
http://bm-smartphone-reviews.blogspot.in/2011/10/mt65x3-flashing-tutorial.html
You need to have a linux machine, Ubuntu, to unpack the boot.img, making unsecure to 1 and the repack it. Flash it back.
I dont have a linux machine anymore.
Searh the net for tutorials.
Bootloader unsecure.
I dont have the time and also aint using the A50 anymore.

need Windows 8 USB drivers

Hi,
I just extracted the latest USB driver (USB_Acer_1.0_USB_A700 A701), but there are Windows XP, Vista and 7 drivers inside only.
i tried to install the Windows 7 driver on Windows 8 64-bit, but had no success...
The one that isnĀ“t working is the "USB composite device" driver.
I need any Acer Windows 8 USB 64-bit drivers for Android 4.0...
Will Acer release a Win 8 driver for the A700 in near future?
Hi,
You should try installing the Android SDK, which has general Android drivers inside them.
Connect your Acer device onto your computer.
Install the Android SDK and once the program has started, it'll (down)load and show you all the Android versions and tools.
Make sure you have only selected the checkboxes "Android SDK Platform Tools" and "Google USB driver". Now click on the right bottom button labeled: "Install packages".
Select the radio button: "Accept All" and click "Install".
Now click with the right mouse button on Computer, click Manage. Go to Device Manager. Right click Acer A700, click update driver software.
Choose "Browe my computer for driver software". Choose "Let me pick from a list".
Click all devices or/and Have disk..
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\extras\google\usb_driver\ and click the file under the 2 folders (android_winusb.inf)
Click on the first one and install.
Good luck and let me know if you succeed.
Edit:
You can skip the first part and download the Google USB driver I uploaded:
http://www55.zippyshare.com/v/1434863/file.html
Thank you very much it worked for me!
Thanks for the re-upload but there appears to be a problem with the contents of the zip file. When I try to extract it, I get this message: " the archive is either in unknown format or damaged". Could you download it yourself, or anyone,& see if you get that message.
Cheers.
EDIT: Thanks Tom for re-uploading again. It extracted OK this time. Unfortunately, I have had to send my A510 tablet in for repair, the charge light stopped working. I must admit to some ignorance in what to do with the unzipped files, as there is no installer for it, unlike a typical install of a USB driver. Perhaps you, or anyone, could educate me a bit?

Sure thing,
I explained it a little in my previous post, but I will try to explain it a little better this time.
1. Click with the right mouse button on Computer.
2. Click Manage.
3. Go to Device Manager.
4. Right click Acer A700 (or A510, OR anything that looks like an unknown android device), click update driver software.
5. Choose "Browe my computer for driver software". Choose "Let me pick from a list".
6. Click all devices or/and Have disk..
7. Go to the (extracted) folder you used from my upload in the previous post (usb_driver) and click the file under the 2 folders (android_winusb.inf)
8. Click on the first one and install.
Now Windows will recognise your tablet.
If you still don't get the hang of it, check out this video I found on Youtube:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RbXatmo4QBU
The video may seem a bit dull, but it's actually useful if you really can't find any of the things I explained.
In the video, the "woman" explains on how you can find the Device Manager, on another way I explained.
Follow the instruction in the video until Step 8, which means you shouldn't follow step 8 but continue from my instruction from step 5.
Good luck!
Ps. If you really really don't get to install it, I would like to offer to do it for you (no charge, if that even was a question), if you trust a complete stranger on the internet (but you can abort any time). Just PM me.
Thanks. I will do this when my A510 returns from repair. It is waiting for a part to arrive from overseas, so don't know when it will return.

The A510 has returned. I have tried to install your driver but have no success.
At step 6, I get presented with "Show All Devices". I am shown a list of Manufacturers & Models. I choose nothing & click "I Have Disk".
I navigate to your folder & click on android_winusb.inf
I then click on "Install From Disk" button. I am then shown the option "Select The Device Driver You Want To Install For This Hardware".
There are 3 items shown: 1. Android ADB Interface, 2. Android Bootloader Interface, 3. Android Composite ADB Interface.
I choose number 1 as that is the one I beleive you mean in your option 8.
I click "Next" & get a warning about "Installing This Device Is Not Recommended Because Windows Cannot Verify That It Is Compatible With Your Hardware". I continue the install & after about a minute, I get this message "Windows Found Driver Software For Your Device But Encountered An Error While Attempting To Install It"... and..."Android ADB Interface".... and...."This Device Cannot Start (Code 10)".
The Device Manager now shows Unknown Device as "Android Phone".
Await your reply but am thinking about reinstalling Windows 7 & leaving Win 8 until I get a touch screen laptop & Acer Tablets get a USB driver for Win 8. Acer say they are on the way but can't/won't give me a date.
Windows 8 is an annoyance on my 4 year old Asus N50Vn laptop.
Without drivers, can you still access the SD?
@theoldfarter
That's odd, but can you try choosing the third option: 3. Android Composite ADB Interface.?
Maybe the drivers I uploaded are out of date in Windows 8 and you should try installing the Android SDK.
Install the Android SDK and once the program has started, it'll (down)load and show you all the Android versions and tools.
Make sure you have only selected the checkboxes "Android SDK Platform Tools" and "Google USB driver". Now click on the right bottom button labeled: "Install packages".

I am wondering if it has to do with the A510 being upgraded to Jelly Bean (4.1.2)?

Googled it & now know what you mean. That option is for Windows 7.
I use windows 8 & Google tells me this about it:
"7) Disable driver signature enforcement
The Disable driver signature enforcement option allows non-signed drivers to be installed in Windows 8.
This startup option can be helpful during some advanced driver troubleshooting tasks."
I will try this but when I tried installing the driver as per Tom's instructions, the driver in question said it was digitally signed.

That won't work 'cause the driver can be installed, only it's not starting.
Do you have USB Debugging turned on in the Developer Options?

Did not have that turned on. Done so but makes no difference. I have just discovered that my built-in camera is not working with Win 8, Skype says there is no camera installed. It worked with Win 7. I am thinking that the "unknown" device in Device Manager is the camera, not my tablet.
No wonder I can't install the driver to it. lol.
With the tablet not connected, I uninstall the "unknown" device & then scan for changes & it shows it again.
It looks like the A510 is not recognised by Win 8 as anything, period.
I have had enough of Windows 8. It is causing more problems than it is worth. In a couple of days, I will reinstall Windows 7 & start over.
Will report back when all has finished, which may be in 6 days time.
Thanks for your help so far.

I would like this link as well. Since I've updated my a510 to JB 4.1.2, my computer doesn't detect it when I plug it in via USB. I can plug a USB stick into the tablet and it sees that, but when connecting to PC, nothing at all. USB debugging is also turned on. Would love some assistance with this.
http://www55.zippyshare.com/v/1434863/file.html
This is the USB driver.
When clicking on start and entering "device manager", a new screen will pop-up showing you all the connected devices. Somewhere you should see Unknown, Fastboot, ADB, Android device/phone, A700 or Acer. Install it with the USB driver.
Note for everybody:
If it is NOT working, try to find Android Phone in the categories list when installing the driver. That one might work too if my solution doesn't work.
dis method helped me...!

Here is a fellow who has Jelly Bean & Windows 7, where once he had updated to Jelly Bean, his Win 7 doesn't see the tablet anymore. His name is papyb & his post is the second up from the bottom, on page 2 here: EDIT, can't post the link. Darn the rules. lol.
I will try to PM you the link.

Root dapeng A75 (Chinese phone) !!!

I found this article on another site, I take no credit
How to root your Dapeng A75
1. Download driver for Windows, just this MT6573ADBdrivers.zip from http://chinamobiles.org/downloads/zap/MT6573ADBdrivers.zip
Unzip and connect the phone on to the computer via USB. You will be prompted to install the new hardware wizard, and specify the directory where you unzipped the driver. (If you are not prompted right click "my computer" and click manage, then click device manager (on the left) and right click MTK65.... (with yellow triangle next to it) and update driver software, browse my computer and then select where you unzipped the drivers)
2. Download TPSparkyRoot_ haipai _noble_I9220.zip from http://mediafire.com/?wvb2v914y0uddtj and unzip.
3. On your phone, enable USB Debugging and Unknown Sources. Start TPSparkyRoot.bat. In the command prompt (on your PC) you will see the progress of root. If you successfull connected the Dapeng A75 via USB to your computer and you have installed the drivers for Windows follow the on screen instructions (In the command prompt).
Root has 3 steps, where each single step the phone is restarted. Root program waits until you press any key to confirm that the phone has restarted.. After the third restart (which turns off root program on the PC) you can test that root was successful by installing Root Checker from the playstore, this will test if your phone is rooted or not.
Note:Root your phone installs these files : busybox, File_Expert_4.1.8.apk, GooglePlayStore3.5.19.apk, Su, Superuser.apk, vending-5.3.16-mod.apk
If you root failed, repeat steps 3 and 4

NOTE : I have tried this on my own dapeng A75 and it worked flawlessly
NOTE 2 : If for some reason this breaks your phone (It shouldn't but I'm just saying), I take NO responsibility !

Need Help with ADB

I have read many guides about setting up and using ADB, I am using an older computer with windows xp sp3. I just got my first nexus device which is a nexus 5, in device manager the phone shows up as " samsung android phone" and then "google nexus adb interface". I have tried uninstalling and then reinstalling the drivers using many different ones found on xda. I have the android sdk installed and adb seems to be working, at least when I type in "adb version" the version number comes up, but when I type "adb devices" nothing comes up as attached devices. This is really frustrating me, as I have have been trying to get this working for days now.i have already uninstalled every other android related driver using USBDeview. If anyone could please help me with this I would greatly appreciate it. I'm almost to the point go giving up! Could the problem be because I rooted the phone before getting all this setup? I ask this because when I try to update the driver in device manager it always shows driver type as clockwork mod no matter what driver I try to use
Did you enable ADB via Dev Options on the phone?

Do you mean USB debugging, yes I have that enabled
Go to device manager select your phone (samsung device or whatever it's showing!!) and right click and select "Update Driver Software".
On the next screen, select "Browse my computer for driver software" and set the path to : C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\extras\google\usb_driver"
I have used C:\Program Files (x86) because that's the place in which I have installed the SDK. Put a tick mark on "Include subfolders" and then hit Next...
Your device drivers will be installed again and adb will be working!
PS: Please make sure you have the latest android sdk and usb_driver downloaded from SDK manager!!

[Q] Problems while updating drivers

Hi everybody !
I got my new OPO phone Tuesday, and I decided to root & unlock it. I downloaded Bacon Root Toolkit v1.0.2, and runned it. I first opened it and wrote that i had an old version of android, because my OPO was not updated yet, so the rooting didn't work. So i updated Cyanogen Version on my OPO today, it's now 64GB SandStone, XNHP44S-KTU84Q. I clicked on Full Driver Installion - Automatic + Manual, and then went to Step 3 as recommended. I downloaded Google Drivers, then clicked on Configure ADB. So appears the Device Manager, i clicked on A0001 ( OnePlus One ) and then tried to Update Drivers Software, but i can't have the " Android Devices " in the selection, i only have " USB MTP Device ". And if i try to Fastboot the OPO, it doesn't appears anymore in the Device Manager.
My friends didn't have that problem so they couldn't help, maybe could you ?
Sorry for bad english, i'm a French student ...
Waiting for an answer soon ! Cya !

first off root kit is not needed to root your phone. Secondly you did not have to update it prior to rooting as well. Now I came across this issue with my friends phone the other day and used this method here.
It works just dont skip a step and please use the stickied method in General to root your phone. You learn nothing with root kits. Its also keeps you from searching properly and finding answers.....

you are confusing me if you followed the directions then put your phone in Fastboot mode you should see your phone popup in your device manager list.
Install the latest Samsung drivers: SAMSUNG USB Driver v1.5.33.0
Restart the computer (very important)
Go to Device Manager, find the Android device, and select Update Driver Software.
Select Browse my computer for driver software
Select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer
Select ADB Interface from the list
Select SAMSUNG Android ADB Interface (this is a signed driver). If you get a warning, select Yesto continue.
Done!
Please dont take this wrong but is this your first android phone and rooting? If so there is soooo much you should be reading before doing this. Also make sure this is what you want to do. With rooting what goal are you trying to achieve
