Touchscreen issues with TWRP... - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Edit: the problem seems to have resolved itself by unknown means.
So, I installed TWRP on my new TF300 yesterday after unlocking the bootloader. It seems to work...for the most part.
Curiously, I am having an issue in that most of the buttons on the right side of the screen (and ONLY the right side) will not work.
For example, I can tap Install, and it will work. I can tap Backup, and it will work. but anything to the right of those will not work, such as Restore, or Wipe, or Reboot. In addition, the Home and Back buttons in the upper left do not work, but the other one beside them (I think it's a log button?) does work.
This is causing a considerable issue for me because somewhere along the line my CM9 install got messed up and is bootlooping, and I can't wipe the device. I've tried installing CWM but am having altogether different troubles there (<waiting on device>......)
This is a strange issue and I can't seem to find anyone else having any similar problems. For the record, there are no issues with the touchscreen when in the OS.

[Q] Touchscreen stopped working on Nexus S

Hi all
Today I was trying to get my nexus s onto the official ota ICS update by flashing it manually, following guides other people had had success with.
I was on the cm9 ics beta, so I had to flash the full rom of 2.3.6.
This worked completely, however I think the ota update file I downloaded was corrupted, as flashing didn't work, it said something about signature verification failed. So I redownloaded it, from the same link, and the new one was bigger. I tried that, and the same error. I tried wiping data/factory reset etc, and I accidentally started to flash a cm7 rom I had on my phone.
I stupidly did a battery pull as it started to flash (the back cover was off already), and now my touchscreen doesn't work. I was able to successfully flash other roms including the 2.3.6 I downloaded, and I couldn't do the first setup procedure (touch the android to begin). I tried cleaning the screen very carefully with 90% isopropyl alcohol, the same stuff I use to replace thermal paste on cpus.
It still doesn't work. I am hoping it is a software issue that can be fixed otherwise I have to return it.
Someone please help
I have used the search function and none of the solutions I found worked.
(UPDATE) I rebooted again, and when the phone booted into cm7, the "internet" icon(the globe picture) on the bottom left of the dock was in the "pressed" state(orange). It was like the phone thought I was holding my finger on it, which suggested a hardware issue. I cleaned it again and nothing changed. Then I held the phone in the landscape position. When the screen rotated, the button stayed pressed. So the phone doesn't think "this part of the screen is being pressed" it thinks "this internet icon" is being pressed. Rotating the phone again and again didn't change anything, the icon was still pressed in.
Defiantly a software issue. I would try to unroot and reroot. Then if it is still not working, try to format the SD card. You may want to considering buying a USB to micro USB adapter to help you, considering then u could plug in a mouse. I have one just in case I need it.
Thank me if any of this helped
Also try and keep this updated with new info. If I can't help, maybe someone else can.
Sent from my XT862 using XDA App
Thanks techno-update, I will try that. I haven't "unrooted" before, Is that just typing fastboot oem lock or whatever it is instead of fastboot oem unlock?
Also, I found a youtube video with the EXACT same problem.
v=zpfE15Xw_os&feature=related
Skip to 3:15, and you will see when he opens the power menu, the phone thinks he is pressing on one of the options, but he isn't.
I will let you know how unrooting and rerooting goes.
Thanks
(UPDATE)
I tried unrooting and then rooting again. It still does the same thing.
Even in cwr I can't use the capacitive buttons to navigate menus, does that rule out software problems? I am really hoping its just a software problem :/
I need my phone for an outing tonight (im in australia, its 5pm now) and I would appreciate it if some genius could solve this
I am usually the "go to fix it IT guy" in my area, but I can't figure this one out. I have tried formatting the phone, reflashing the mod etc.
Is there some more aggressive COMPLETE wipe or something that fully wipes the phone?
UPDATE 2
Guys please help,
I just flashed zulugen mod, as it has the trinity kernel, I don't know much about android os, but I hoped that that might replace the touchscreen driver or something. The rom flashed correctly, but touchscreen and the capacitive buttons still don't work. Please help
Guys, is there some sort of system partition where the touchscreen drivers are kept or something? And when I pulled the battery as it was flashing cm7, it corrupted these?
Is there some way to fix this?
bump
bump. I need help with this urgently. Is it possible the connections for the screen came loose inside? I would crack it open but don't have screwdrivers for the 3 smaller screws on the last layer of plastic before the pc board.

Single phantom touch on digitizer (that doesn't move)

The "show touches" option allowed me to find out why I had some trouble with the digitizer since yesterday. It is not cracked.
There is a single point on the screen showing a touch at all times. If I touch that point, it disappears then comes back 1-2 seconds later.
The digitizer still works as it registers my touches as well, but a lot of apps cannot register more than one touch at a time, so they ignore my touches.
I read somewhere that doing a hard reset (completely wiping everything) would re-initialize the digitizer and make it ignore that stuck point, but I don't want to do that if that's not correct as I'd have to reinstall everything, re-do my settings and still have to figure out how to fix the stuck point.
Or is there an app that can make the tablet ignore that one little touch.

edit - I realized that when I wrote "FIXED" in the title, it sounds like I solved my issue. What I mean is that the single phantom touch is not moving, it's in a fixed position (unlike most phantom touch problems seen on other tablets)

First I'd edit the post (advanced edit) and removed fixed from the title - you should get more help.
Factory reset - Settings/Backup & reset is where I'd begin. There are no promises that will fix your tablet.
To minimize the grief of a reset use App Backup in the app drawer. Choose Data & App - select all - backup - and copy file to /Removable/MicroSD - OK
Restore with App Backup only works on the same version the tablet was on when the backup was made!
I don't know what the next step would be if your problem is not cleared.
I edited it now. I tried when I first posted, but I didn't remember the advanced edit option for the title
Thanks for the trick on restoring my tablet. I'll try the hard reset.
If that doesn't work. I will be taking apart the tablet and see if I can re-seat the digitizer.
I already replaced it once. This time it isn't cracked, but I know it fell a foot down just before the problem started. It was in it's case, so it was a soft landing on its flat surface. I'm surprised those things are so fragile. Asus should feel bad.

I think reset is the proper place to begin with the problem you're having.
A couple of things to consider.
Did the spot immediately appear at the time you replaced the digitizer?
Did you take an update that may have caused the spot to appear?
The above are just my thoughts, not actual questions and may not prove helpful.
I have dropped my tablet a couple of times with no noticeable damage.
Good Luck!

The problem only appeared 2 months after I replaced the digitizer.
I didn't update
Anyway, since I already had my tablet setup to flash the touchscreen firmware in order to use a different TS, I simply ran the flashing procedure again. It fixed the problem in seconds
I admit that if my tablet wasn't already setup (unlocked, rooted, superuser access), it would have been faster to reformat (if that would have fixed the problem).
TL;DR - Problem solved, I flashed the touchscreen firmware to force it to reset instead of formatting my tablet back to factory settings.

I'm glad you managed to clear your issue. I'll try to remember your fix for the future.
Thanks for the info.

[Q] no lock screen, notifications not showing, home key doesn't work properly.

I changed out the glass on my phone, shortly after doing this (but not immediately after) my lockscreen started to no longer show up. nothing happens when i press the home button unless the screen is "locked"then it takes me immediately to the home screen. i'm wondering what could cause this issue? i've tried factory reset.
nevermind i switched roms now everything is golden.. hmmm must have been a corrupted file. that seems to happen alot when my downloads are throttled by goo.im when i download over wifi.
i went to look up this issue today as i am having it again. i do the right thing before posting and search for it on the xda forums. And i come across this thread that appears to be EXACTLY what I am having issues with, i go to click on it and what do i see? That it was me that posted it last year.... Why must i fail so much
Can anybody tell me what causes this? This rom never did it before. I did a factory reset and reinstalled CarbonRom d2lte 3/27 which i was running since 3/27 without issue. And now i have this issue?

[Q] CM11 Nightlies button issue (EFS?)

What's going on guys? So I'm having this problem with my S3 for the second time now. What occurs is the capacitive buttons and the home button randomly stop working/functioning properly as well as vibration ceases to function. I make the distinction because the capacitive buttons continue to work, but mapped functions (such as holding the menu button for google now or holding back button to kill an app) do not work. The home button completely doesn't work.
I've googled this issue and the only thing of relation that I could find was a topic where someone mentioned that the EFS could be missing some files. The first time I thought that there was a chance this could be a hardware failure but it happened so rapidly and randomly that I doubted it (plus doing a keytest in CWR confirms everything working fine). Sure enough, wiping the install and installing the latest nightly fixed it. Now it's back. I could just wipe it and restore my apps again but my backup is encrypted and takes forever to restore so if there's any other fix for this, that'd be peachy.
E: I should mention that I do not have a backup of the EFS.....yeah...
also, what's causing this? Corruption of the internal memory card?

[Q] Only in Actual Operating System, Phone Refuses to Unlock

Hi Everyone! This is my first forum post anywhere (I'm used to looking at these forums, but not asking questions), as this issue has me completely stumped.
The issue is that every time the Nexus 5 (32 GB - White) is started, no matter what ROM I use, the first screen always works just fine. However, if I were to hit the power button to lock the device, it doesn't unlock. If I hit the bottom arrow, it will immediately lock the screen; when it gets to the "Select Wifi Network" screen, the screen unlocks. At that point, hitting the power button will show a glimpse of the screen, then immediately lock.
If I am in either Clockwork Recovery, or TWRP recovery, there are no issues at all. The issue is only present whenever I am actively in an operating system.
Things I have tried so far: using fastboot to copy over Google's stock images back. They all replicate the issue as well... I was on Android L Preview, and started noticing the issue. First thing I did was try to fastboot the image of the 2nd to latest image (the latest one had knocked out the front facing camera for some reason... lol). I have tried both Clockwork Recovery and TWRP as alternate recovery options and tried to sideload CM 11, and that didn't do anything. I have tried clearing any partition to clear it.
Well, after all of this, I called Google, and they told me I had voided my warranty, so I decided to go ahead and open up my phone to check for any damages, and the water indicator on the inside of the phone was set off (pink). However, there wasn't any damage except for some corrosion (sweat, I am pretty sure), but that which could be found was removed.
I'm at a complete loss. Is there a reason the recoveries would work flawlessly, but the OS fails when you try to use it? Is there a way to truly nuke the entire storage device on the inside, recreate the partitions, reinstall recovery, and maybe have a completely wiping any trace of the OS? It feels like something might be staying in all the erases I have done.
Thanks much for the help in advance!!!
