My third charge is on its way right now. My last 2 phones have had issues reconnecting to 3g if the signal drops. I have to reboot to get data back. Have to reboot 2-3 times a day because of this issue. This issue seemed to start after fp1 was pushed. I get that network signals will have hiccups, but I wait 30-45 minutes and it will not re-establish without a reboot. I've tried toggling mobile data and airplane mode, but it does not reconnect.
Anyone else have this issue?
I've had issues over the past week. Data will show 4g and yet nothing is connecting. Other times it shows no data indicator at all. Data toggle, switch to 3g, etc seems to randomly fix the issue. Can't say I've had to reboot. Usually just wait it out.
I honestly think it's a local issue for me though. I'm in Destin, FL and we just got 4g about a month ago. Figure they are fine tuning.

You really need to try pulling the battery and SIM. Wait for maybe 5-10 minutes. I have no idea what that does, but it seems to be the only thing that works for me on occasion.
I usually go to settings>wireless n network> mobile settings> system selection..... Then I just pick something else and then change back to LTE. My 4g gets reset without having to reboot.

This is a known problem with the charge. Ask any tech support person. The easiest way to fix o found was to just turn on airplane mode wait a minute and turn it off. Read is why verizon is sending me a razr, but while I'm waiting I'm using my charge and this problem is out of hand on my phone and this works everytime

So I am currently running bamf 1.6.3 and I change kernals a lot, but one thing I can't seem to fix are the data drops. I live in raleigh, so no LTE, and am running the .7 cdma / .6 LTE radio combo. The data drops off a lot, more noticeable when changing towers. Even sitting at home with good signal it will just drop to 1x and is hard to get 3g back without a reboot. Anybody else see this? No reboot problems
So am I the only one with this issue??
Mine drops 3g and 4g for a second or two and then comes back. It has been happening a lot recently.
At one point in time I would have that happen, it was because of a local tower being screwed up. Maybe switch from eHRPD to the standard 3g network? or vice versa?
Had the same issue with 1.6.3 and went back to 1.6.1 and Im fine again. Ill wait for another version before updating again
Having this same problem but I'm on stock and it only happens while I'm on 3G....nothing but problem since I got this phone....did Verizon and HTC test this phone out? Gps problems, reboot problems, data problems,battery...I'm really sorry I left my carrier for this phone.

the NEW 4g network is going to take some time to get running properly and because of that will have issues as will the phones. Not everything works flawlessly off the bat, give time to get everything settled and figured out and it will get perfected.
With all the radio/prl updates they have been doing I wouldnt be suprised if it is caused from that.
I was having the same problem. Disabling eHRPD has seemed to fix it. I still see strange signal drops, but I'm not seeing data drops at all.
It's not a fix, but rather than rebooting, just turn on airplane mode, wait for the airplane icon to appear, and then disable airplane mode. I have the same issue you describe, so I just keep the airplane mode toggle widget on my second home screen panel.
I'm getting very frustrated with the inconsistent data connection on this phone. I halfway considered trying to get VZW to let me swap it for the Droid X 2 when it releases next week.
I have similar problem. I live in Northern CA with 4G coverage. The problem will be like this:
- 4G works OK, data works
- Moments later, 4G icon shown upload activity (arrow up sign)
- Shortly afterwards, no data. Mail, Google Maps, etc. failed
Fix is to turn Airplane mode OR REBOOT the phone. I have tried switching radio mode (using LTE ON/OFF) but to no avail.
I understand 4G is new and so is the phone, but c'mon.. it has been sometime now and we are STILL paying for the service, even when the 4G network is down (few weeks ago) or when the phone loses data.
This happens to me on stock. Will be using 4G and then all data drops, then comes back, then drops, then comes back and repeats the cycle. Rebooting, airplane mode, nothing helps. Eventually it goes back to normal.
My phone went wacky yesterday. 1x and no data for four hours. Spent an hour on the phone with Verizon tech. We did everything possible and nothing. Then it just fixed itself. Had someone with a Droid X in the same room as me with great EV signal. Now the phone is perfect again. I dont get it . I have enabled REV A and now I put it back and that didnt matter.

Mine as well on 1.6.3 bamf remix. i had to keep going in airplane mode. it was stuck on no service or even the 4g icon (not blinking and no service)
We are Guenna pigs....
Since i have gone to the new leaked gingerbread radio not the latest froyo radio but the new gingerbread i dont have data drops
get it here http://www.multiupload.com/KQCRTNALV9
I too had continual problems with data yesterday (on BAMF 1.6.3) in San Diego. Kept switching from 4G/3G/1x. Today seems to be running smooth.
I'm gonna say thank god I'm not the only one, I don't live in a 4g area, yet there's many times my 3g will do the same arrow thing showing up and than everything fails. I'm running the new radio and perfect storm 1.4

Hello all, i have had my HTC sensation 4G (on Bell) for just over a month and a few days ago i started losing my connection to the network intermittently. Super annoying. Anyways i tried deleting some recent apps, figured that might be the issue but nope didnt help. It happened about 3 days in a row until i finally did a Factory Reset on the phone. It worked fine for a bit and then began stopping its connection to the network. Anyways super frustrating, i read some forums about tunring ciphering on and off, i tried that didnt work... needless to say im chapped.
Sorry for the length, but basically wondering if anyone knows how to fix this as its to late to return the phone and i have read through similiar forums on other phones
sorry to hear abt ur problem. i experienced the same thing but i think mine was triggered when i installed juice defender. it would turn off mobile data when the screen was off and when i went to use the phone, i didn't have a connection. i uninstalled the app and did a power cycle and that seemed to fix the problem after i went back into settings and checked the box to turn mobile data on.

This. The phone seems to have trouble (on the stock kernel at least) when switching data from wifi only to cell when cell is turned off. This happens to me when I use wifi calling. The solution I came up with was to connect to a wifi network then turn on mobile data in the quick settings manually. Works every time for me.
HTC really needs to fix this.
Under mobile network in wireless settings, enable always-on mobile data.
This somehow fix my connection whereby it hampers with JD app by not turning on when it needs to.
Thanks for the help guys. I did also recently install a "battery optimizer: in Droid Utilities or soemthing like that, although i did a factory reset. ill try and do a full battery cycle like you mentioned and see if that helps
so the phone worked fine on the weekend, and even friday and i thought it was cause i stopped using a non "htc" charger and got rid of Android Utilities. but now its Tuesday again and like clockwork at 1pm it just stops connecting, if i reset it i get network for a few minutes and then boom out again. Very frustrating mid work day to be without my phone for hours on end. Dont know what to do.
Are you using WiFi at the time it goes out?

No i havent been, not allowed to use private phones on the corporate wireless, but so far i havent found a problem with it switching between wi-fi and H+ while at home.
I have a feeling that Bell Canada may be updating the network or something in the area but they havent said anything both times i called and i asked. so who knows. Its just to much like clockwork for me to think it would be the phone, but who knows.
So i believe i have this figured. I talked to tech support once again yesterday and i point blank asked if it was network problems he said no (3rd person from bell to tell me this) then reccomended i get a sim card change if that didnt work he said send the phone in for repair.
So i went to the downtown bell store talked to the girl, explained why i needed to replace a brand new sim, and she told me that it was because Bell doesnt have towers downtown they share the Telus towers, however because of network bottleneck bell users get less priority and thus i cant use my phone... Not only is this unnacceptable for a phone company to not provide service DOWNTOWN in a major city but having denied it multiple times forcing me to troubleshoot for hours and spend almost an hour talking to bell representatives...
NOT HAPPY. Bell - 5 in my books, lucky my contract is up in a few months and i can switch to telus where i will be able to get signal downtown...
My One S is randomly dropping all reception on cell.network.
If i put it in Flight mode and then turn Flight mode off again and enter my pin, the phone is reconnected again..
Anyone seen this?
That happens to me also. I'll have 3 bars with 4g then all the sudden I have no service for like 2 minutes. I have no idea if its a Rom issue or network issue or radio issue.

I also experienced network signal getting lost for some time / struck on Airplane mode
my very strange experience is ... my mobile screen is not turning on and keeps on vibrating for half an hour
This used to be a huge problem for me, but the recent OTA has resolved it completely...
I can repeat what I told someone else about text issues. I had the signal issue as well, it would constantly jump up and down and turn into an X so here was my reply...

I can tell you how i fixed my issue when something similar was happening to me. I had this issue on my previous phone as well so i figured after getting this phone and it continued it had to be something to do with my account setup. Some kind of glitch. So after getting fed up with Tech support I had my network account manager have all my features and account removed, then added back on like it was a new account. Then I did a factory reset and woila! My network signal is stronger than ever. Texts send instantly! Faster than I have ever seen them send! lol.

My wife and I both have S3's with Verizon.
Neither of use are rooted/unlocked/flashed. For some reason her phone has a lot of problems reconnecting to our home WiFi. After waking up, it'll see the SSID's of all the networks around us, but it won't attempt to do anything with them.
Only way to get it to reconnect is to cycle wifi or cycle airplane mode.
The wifi settings have been set to "Keep WiFi on during sleep" Only while plugged in on both phones.
I've got the routers set to empty channels (there are 2 routers, one is acting as a range extender, same SSID, different channel), and everything else has no problems.
My phone sometimes does this, say maybe once or twice a week, but hers does it constantly. More like a few times a day for hers.
What can I do?
Did you try and "forget" your network info and reinput the key to connect? Maybe try and remove the network saved info then readd it with a static ip and such since its most likely a dhcp issue on your network?

my wife and I also have GS3's and have the wifi set to turn off when the phone is sleeping. My phone when it wakes up sometimes will not connect to wifi. My phone sees the networks available but wont connect to them. I toggle the wifi off and then back on and then it works fine. It will do this sometimes a few times a day, sometimes it will be fine for a few days. It happens at work and home.
Are you on the latest OTA? I had this problem and it all of a sudden went away after I took an OTA update.

Yes I had wifi problems also...setting a static ip worked for me just set it to a higher number. For example I set mine to 192.168.1.199

Yes, I am on the latest OTA update.
Latest ota updates here also. I just set her phone to static now so ill post up in a few days with how it goes. I also disabled the extender a few days ago but it did not change anything.
I dont know if i explained the problem properly though.
The system doesnt attempt to do anything at all when this happens. It says there is nothing in range. As soon as you cycle the wifi it magically finds the network and connects without problems.
I had the same problem or something similar to yours. Whenever my S3 goes to sleep, meaning whenever I turn my screen off. If the phone sleeps more than 2 mins and I go to use my wifi. The phone shows I am connected to my wifi network but it takes 20-30secs for my phone to respond to my wifi and it will all of sudden my wifi is back on. I tried everything from rebooting my router. I haven't tried the static ip change but my wife's Rezound doesn't have that problem at all. It got so annoying that now I just leave it on 4G all the time at home. I do have the latest update from Verizon. Hopefully someone can figure it out.
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S3
The static IP arrangement worked for the wife's phone, and also turning the wifi to never sleep works for me too.
I really don't notice a difference in battery life between having wifi sleep with screen off and staying on all the time, so thats how I left it. Also stops the couple second lag between unlock and reconnecting.
I used to have this problem on my home wireless network. Never could figure it out, so I bought a new router (needed an upgrade anyway) and the problem went away. No idea why the phone had trouble staying connected with my older router (it was a Netgear model). Everything else connected with it fine, but my Galaxy always had problems.

Ya some routers can be a pain. I got a cheap $40 N router that cause more issues then not

So, I tried to leave wifi on at all times per the suggestion in post #9. I did notice shorter battery life (not a huge difference). My wifi connect problems reduced, but did not go away. This happens everywhere: home, work, etc. Some times I will be fine for days, and some times it will act up twice in an hour. Don't know what router is used at work, but I know mine at home is a Belkin N router less than a year old. Never had problems with our old phones, and none of my friends at work or home have this problem.
Really wish there was a solution for this.
Anyone else have issues with the Internet dropping. Signal shows full connection to LTE, but I won't get internet until I toggle airplane mode or reboot. Happens once or twice a day... Do I have a detective unit?
I have the same problem. Mostly at work when I'm on wi-fi I have a weak LTE signal and I have to text I have to toggle airplane mode.
I've been on the phone with AT&T about this situation on two different occasions. Never happens on Wifi for me. They're sending me a new phone.

Yes!!!! I'm having this problem. I had it happen a few times last week and today it was completely bonkers. Its kind of aggravating. I'm considering swapping it out but I'm afraid it'll be the sane thing. So then I wasn't sure if I should wait for a software update.
No matter what, I can never stay away from android for long.
This happens to me on Wi-Fi after being on the phone. The Wi-Fi connection does not work while on calls. Anyone else having this issue?
Hmm my Wi-Fi was working great at my work. I come home and it didn't even see my network as being active/didn't auto connect to it. I've had the phone two days. A reboot fixed the Wi-Fi and it connected back up fine after. I'll have to keep an eye on it.

Ive had the same issue where it shows strong LTE signal but nothing works. Just yesterday it did and I had to toggle airplane mode on and off before it works. Ive had this happen now 2 or 3 times. Not sure Id call it a deal breaker but its annoying for sure.
Yea I feel the same way about it being a deal breaker or not. I don't think exchanging the phone for a new unit will help cause obviously we here are all experiencing it. I love the phone enough to not want a different phone, so I think I'll wait it out for a software update.
No matter what, I can never stay away from android for long.
Yes, happened to me twice on LTE. Usually it happens in the morning after I unplug it from the charger. Had to turn on airplane mode then off to fix it. Annoying for sure.
I had this problem on the G2 running CloudyG3.

Exact same issue here. Started a thread about this in the G3 section (prior to the AT&T G3 section being created) and still haven't received an answer there either.
Like someone else said, I had this happen on my G2 as well. Even remember it occurring once or twice with my Sony Z2. So far, only once on my G3. Toggling airplane mode off and on corrected it. So, not sure it's the phone.
This has happened to every phone I've had since mg iPhone 3g. I don't think its a phone specific thing for that reason. I had the same issue on my S3 and Note 3 as well. Its annoying but I haven't found a way to fix it other than toggling airplane mode.

Just curious, is the internet dropping out completely to where the icon goes away or is it just not loading web pages or stuff like that? I noticed that if that "allow Google apps to scan" thing is checked then it messes up the connection sometimes. Even if you uncheck it, it still may cause problems, so what I do is "forget" the network I'm signed into, turn off WiFi, turn it back on, and reconnect. That usually fixes it.

I had the same thing happen on my s4. I thought it was an AT&T thing
I've had ATT for two and a half years first an iPhone 3GS and then a GS3. Don't remember this happening with them. And even if it did, it wasn't enough for me to go on a forum looking to see if others were having the issue.
are you referring to what I made a thread about? Yes there were times on my S3 the data had issues, tho yea I didn't wind up checking on here. But could that be bc the G3 actually tells you? But then again, the "no connection" thing just started on mine last night.
I have had this happen a few times over the past few days. Was waiting for a phone call, and it looked like I was connected. Had 4 bars,4g icon, and the activity indicators were blinking. But no data or voice was getting in. Needed to reboot to get it back.
FWIW, I didn't have this happen until I removed carrier iq. Since I did that a few days ago, it's happened probably 4 or 5 times. Not necessarily relevant, but it's the only thing I changed before it started happening.
