[MOD] Custom fonts that work on ics - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

I recently find out how to make almost any font work on ics (credit to thugesquire)
I have already made quite a few flashable fonts so far and am willing to take requests, all I need is the .ttf file(s) and I can make it into a flashable zip
best results are with fonts that have multiple .tff files (bold, italic, and/or light) but they are not required.
Please either post the ttf files here or pm and I'll get right on it

Screenshots will come when I get a chance to post them
flashable fonts I've made so far

Skyward Sword Hylian from Legend of Zelda. If you can't get this to work that's understandable. I still haven't even learned how to read it, but I'd definitely make an effort if you did this.

It probably won't look too great but will definitely work except that it will probably use stock numbers and symbols...
If symbols don't appear at all or anything just tell me and I can throw in some generic ones

Worked awesome lol. Had it's own symbols and numbers as well. Sadly I couldn't understand it so I needed to restore my old font, but it looked awesome while it lasted.

Personally I like the Morpheus one but I'm working on a simple but sophisticated looking one now, it's basically done except for the little used extra symbols...
I'm going to post it in a minute or so

Just wondering, did the font files capable of reading any ASCII symbols? Because I found the original font can't.. thanks

Not sure, post some and I'll see
However it would also depend on if the particular font has those symbols and if Android is even capable of reading them anyway
Btw if you know a font you can read them with I can certainly try to make a zip for it

ASCII works on windows doesn't it? many windows fonts are ttf files (most of the fonts I've ported so far are actually intended to be installed on windows)
And I believe iOS uses Helvetica font which is actually in ROM manager as an ics font package, it's just a question of whether that one has the required letters for it

BrushScript
Just thought I'd post a font, as I've looked all over and haven't seen it on XDA.
It's flashable and has been scaled to 120 from 100 so you can actually see it without having to change your phone's default font size.
BrushScript: (See attachments below)

Thanks

[THEME] Generation X Theme port for DI14 Mesmerize

With permission from D3StRoY & R64 and lots of help from nitsuj17, I've been able to port the Generation X theme from the I9000 to the Mesmerize. The original theme post is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=898892
I'm still working on a few more tweaks to put into it, but I feel that this is a good starting point for a 1.0 base. I'm learning to work more deeply into the files now so there is more that I can do with this.
Features that this version includes:
Generation X wallpaper, boot animation, and boot sound
Accurate battery mod during discharge
Fixed colors for the menus, white on black (they were black on black)
Fixed colors for sub menus (some were showing up blue)
Features that I'm working on:
Accurate battery mod during charge (only shows 2 icons while charging right now)
Remove clock from status bar for people who use clock widget
Add Reboot, Recovery, and Download options to Phone options screen
Possibly work on icons for home screen
Here are some pics:
Just in case people are wondering, I'm using Beautiful Widgets Home Weather for the clock/weather, ADW EX for my home and ADW Black Glass icon pack, or ADW Elegant icon pack. These may be different for you, causing a different effect.
Wallpaper from wallpaper pack.

This theme is nice but not really my taste, thanks though. Just curious, how would you go about adding the reboot options into the rom, and is that something I could do to my own phone? I'm using the modded Revolution theme. That would be very useful if you could help me get that.

I definitely understand not everyone's taste in themes is the same. That's why I'm trying to add to my skill level and port more over so we have more to choose from. As far as adding in the reboot options yourself, that depends on your skill level. It requires decompiling a stock framework-res.apk, changing some xml code, adding the png files, editing some smali code, recompiling the framework-res.apk, then decompiling the android.policy to change some code in the smali code to match the changes you made in the framework-res.apk file, then recompiling it and putting everything back on your phone. If that sounds like something you are on par to do, I can send you the code to edit. If not, I'll be working on a couple of versions that people can flash. Some integrated into the themes, and others that will be using stock images to flash if they aren't. Unfortunately, since it uses the framework-res.apk, if you are using a theme I can't guarantee that it won't mess your theme up because that's where a lot of the png's reside.
Neon Transparent Clock skin and looks like Simply Beautiful Weather Skin for the Beautiful Widget ..
Looks just like mine. I am taking a small break from flashing for the week. But will check out soon ..

How about changing them to something you like?
When I tried some of those font packs before they seemed to start making my app names and web browser title things have like the little squares where the font doesn't have a compatible symbol with whatever is typed, except there are no weird symbols that are supposed to be there.

As shown below, changing the font makes toast notifications look bad... e.g. the toast doesn't size correctly, making the font not fit into it. Not a big deal, maybe something to mess with for an update.

[FONT] Honeycomb Digital Clock font

I haven't seen a thread about the Honeycomb clock yet, so here's a redrawn TTF for use as a Clockopia.ttf substitute:
http://krhainos.tk/HoneycombAndroidClock.ttf
http://dingo9.net/HoneycombAndroidClock.ttf
The real Honeycomb clock has transparent parts and opaque parts, but this TTF has the entire thing opaque. This illustration should better describe what you're getting:

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Source files from SDK:
http://krhainos.tk/AndroidClock.ttf
http://dingo9.net/AndroidClock.ttf
http://krhainos.tk/AndroidClock_Highlight.ttf
http://dingo9.net/AndroidClock_Highlight.ttf
If someone's able to modify the lockscreen to use both Honeycomb source files and draw AndroidClock.ttf at 100% opacity, then the Highlight.ttf at ~60% opacity directly on top of it, that'd be near-perfect duplication.
EDIT: Oh good, my rubbish host went down again. Files mirrored.
Looks pretty good. Been looking for that since I saw it at CES.
Sweet! I was going to do this myself but decided I'd check XDA to see if anyone had. Thanks!
Now I want to make an app/widget with the two fonts overlayed... but I haven't done any serious app dev yet. Anyone else want to do it/work with me on it?
Nice! Nemuro and I have already created a clock widget with this look a week ago:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=931473
but we did it using .pngs, not a font. This font is mondo cool! krhainos , are there any conditions for using your font (other than crediting you, of course)?

I saw that clock, but I was a little saddened that it wasn't the original typeface. But again, at the time that was developed, it likely wasn't available! Can't fault you for not having something that didn't exist.
Since this isn't actually "my" work -- you'd have to consult the Google terms for reuse/redistribution(I don't think they'd mind, but check). There are no conditions using "my" font -- as this is all Google's artwork!
You could credit me for the idea/inspiration though, if you really wanted to.

I'm really wishing someone would do it -- I looked at the keyguard_screen_tab_unlock.xml but specifying a font and such seems to be inside the widget and not XML. It's all just way over my head. Clockopia seems to be referenced inside the sourcecode and "hardwired" in.
So this is where my efforts end. I made a single typeface, and reuploaded the source files in hoping someone with some coding smarts could do it!
mClock theme!
Woohoo! I made an mClock theme using these files. It works pretty well, but could probably use improvements. Here you go!
To install:
Extract all the files of the zip to the root of your sdcard
Create a new mClock widget
Load the Xml template from /sdcard/mClock/Honeycomb_12_white_by_cassidyjames.xml
That's it! You should now have a honeycomb-themed clock widget.

Since the font isn't my property (it's Google's), it really isn't my call to say what you can and can't use it in. So as long as Google is fine with it (which I think they would be), I don't really mind where it's used
The font used in the rest of the UI is Eurostile LT Standard.
Nice Honeycomb clock!
Big thx!!!

The team is aware of the issues and trying to find a solution. The problem occurs on latest Sense 3.0 GB 2.3.5 and Sense 3.5 builds. You can still manipulate some stuff like dimensions and transparency, but especially in fusion.apk most images responsible for Dock, widgets and press effects are locked for now. Give the guys some time, it´s incredible enough what they achieved in the first place unlocking m.10`s for us.

[Theme] UPDATED *9/5 Transfuzion themed apks and extras for GB and Infused ROM

OK, as promised.. this thread will be dedicated to themed apks and such, dialers, keyboards, etc, mainly made for my themes, but will most likely work on most GB roms.
Almost everything here will be CWM flashable. But please bare with me, while I try to get some decent content posted. Over time It will be a better selection.
First off are a couple themed swypes. They work perfectly as any other keyboard, but the version i have working does NOT have the actual swype funtion. You will be able to see the trail but it doesnt work. A sywpe with no swype.. i know i know, but they look cool and who actually uses the swype function anyways?

Be careful Swype doesn't want you to post full apk's on xda. Might want to try a MetaMorph zip instead.

Well I guess if the swype isn't working. Maybe it isn't a problem? lol idk

Both should install fine, but theres a possible problem with the sony sketch not changing the font correctly. You may have to place them in system/apps if they wont install. Then check to make sure they show up in display/font style and let me know. Or if youve already done all that then let me know as well. Thanks

I'm running into this issue; it installs fine but applies a generic font when selected through display->font style. Not a huge deal, but I am curious as to what the problem is.
Great job!

I have tried both methods mentioned and got the same result. The install works as it should for the Sketch font and loads the font into the Display list but when you go to activate the font it just uses the system default font (more than likely because it cannot find the legitimate font to use). Even copying the font into the System/App directory (And yes I confirmed W/R access and also confirmed it copied after) and still nothing. I even rebooted to see if it needed a scan and update of the System to activate and no luck. The Century Gothic font installs and works fine. No copy into the System/App folder necessary just install.

+1. Glad I'm not crazy and someone else is having this problem too. The ttf in the apk works just fine if I throw it in /system/fonts (i.e. it shows up in other applications with configurable fonts), and the preview in Font Style settings shows the proper font, but for whatever reason, selecting it just uses the default font.

Yeah your not crazy.. Im not for sure why its doing that, im thinking it may be because i renamed to font from sony_sketch_ef to sonysketch, just to make my xml write ups a little easier, it shouldnt matter, but its the only thing i can think of. You could always extract the sonysketch.ttf from the apk, or i will post it later, and make a copy of it, rename one of them to DroidSans.ttf, and the other one to DroidSans-Bold.ttf, and place both of them in system/fonts. It will overwrite the default font, and u can use it that way. Thats how im using mine, cuz all i had was the .ttf, and i just thought it would be easier for everyone if i just built an apk. Just make sure to rename the exactly as i showed, caps and all. And if for some reason you are fond of the default font, back up those 2 files. Hope this helps. Thanks

Hi all,

Hi Guys/Gals,
Thought I would share this.
When I was looking for a way to change the S-View clock, all information was either for other devices or simply didn't work, see below for a short 'How To'.

"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Wallpapers can be found here.
To change your S-View cover clock font, it is as simple as choosing your font, renaming it to 'SamsungSans-Num45.ttf' then pushing it to system\fonts. (not quite this simple but this is the guts of it)
One thing before you race off to do it. You have limited space to deal with, so you can't go too crazy (unless you change the dimensions in an XML I cant remember the location of). You can still change the dimensions in the XML if you want a clock that is larger than stock, but then you would need to move everything so there is no overlap.
To get mine perfect I had to modify the font file, changing the metrics, scale and position as well as character spacing. All fonts are different so there is a bit of trial and error to get it just right.
After making a few more, I found for the best results you need to add the "highdef" glyph from the stock font. After you have added and named it correctly you need to move the place markers to a position that varies for each font. For the bottom marker, move it to just below the baseline (very bottom of the font), for the top marker move it to the same distance above the Winascent as between x-height and capheight (this varies).
To save a little space you can delete all characters except: notdef, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 0, colon and highdef.
Also, make sure your font is unicode, if it is symbol it won't work. Any good font creator/editor should allow you to convert between the formats.
That's it, now you can mix it up if you want and add things like I did with the Mario font (colon).
Installation:
1. Use a custom recovery and simply install the Zip
or
2. Extract the font, push it to system\fonts and set permissions -rw-r--r-- then hot-reboot or reboot.
Uninstall (revert to stock):
Just flash the Stock font zip from here.
If you make any fonts post them here so we can all share.
Enjoy.
Sorry if this has been covered before but I couldn't find the correct information.
PS: This is not the lock-screen clock font this is only for the S-View clock. The lock-screen clock is a set of .png's in an apk (Keyguard if I remember correctly) that you can edit.
Reserved.
How did you changed the wallpaper of s view lock screen?

I would say no, just use CWM, TWRP or any custom recovery variant. Or extract the font file and push it to system\fonts with your favourite root explorer set permissions rw-r-r then reboot and enjoy.
