Message and calls - Samsung Galaxy S (4G Model)

What would cause the messaging and call logs apps to randomly close as soon as it opens? Anyone know of a fix?

you could try to boot into recovery mode, and fix permissions or you could try re-flashing whatever rom u r using

How fix 8mb update failed?

Hi everyone,
I keep receiving the update message on my Infuse (8mb) update. I download it, hit install --> the phone restart itself, goes to white screen with progress bar, but show "update failed". When phone turn on again, the device management application keeps "connecting" on the top bar, and keep forcing to close. To solve this issue I go to Application and clear the data on the DeviceManagement app.
Now, any way to Solve this problem, and install successfully this 8mb update?
PD- My phone says i am on UCKD5

Just use the UCKE3 UltimateUnbrick variant - the 8MB update is UCKE3.

Well yes, but I would need start from scratch Again. Any way to fix the issue without re-flash the variant UCKE3?
I mean, the phone works Perfectly, I am in love! Any clues what could cause the update fail?

copy all files from it that you need.
in cwm go to mounts and storage and select format /sdcard
then try the backup if it works copy the needed files back on to the card u removed
also yout could try in cwm advanced and fix permissions before u do the backup...
OK how what does this changing permissions do?

I have this issue when running the deodexed/zipaligned version, but not the straight Odin flash.
Just need to keep wiping & reflashing. I didn't have this problem on my first or fourth flashes, but I did on my second and third flashes.
I had this problem along with the dead home and search buttons. I did a factory data reset and everything is fine. The only recurring issue is the the mms app freezing when attempting to delete a thread.

[Q] problem with silent mode

Hope some of you can help me out..
I'm having some problems when putting my phone in silent mode (both using the notification bar shortcut and going to settings > sound > silent mode).
After turning on silent mode, whenever I receive a new SMS or Call, the phone automatically disables silent mode. So my next SMS or Call, the phone rings with sound.
I've tried stock ROM, ICS-themed ROM and MIUI, but every time, this problem always occur.
Try clearing cache n dalvik cache n c..

Maybe u use the volume rocker by mistake to exit the silent mode..
do you use stock sms app or smth. like go sms?? could be a cause for the problem.

Nope. I can simulate the problem by placing the phone down on a table and not touching it. Still the same results.

[Q] Phone Frozen!!! (Solved)

Ok so within 20 minutes of doing a nandroid backup and restore my phone freezes at the main loading screen after i press reboot phone. Is there anything i can do to fix this. Please someone help.
Do battery pull, then three button combo to get to recovery, clear both cashes , factory reset , wipe the system, remount the system, reinstall your from fresh from the SD card. Sorry but you Android back up is some how corrupted, you can try to do an advanced restore of just your data from it, only if you are coming from the same ROM.Good luck.

Since you're in download mode, flash a one click file with a modified kernel with cwm. I think eollie has a thread for it somewhere. That'll get you back to stock GB plus CWM.

right now i am using heimdall one click with a stock rom so i will let you know if this works
Well i was able to do the one click but now when I go to download an app it says error package file is invalid or something like that

If you are having problems using heimdall you could always try Gremlin Remover just download it make sure you have the right drivers installed, install GR then run, the plug your USB in , wait for the top left bar to turn yellow the press start. Then eat lunch or read a book, watch a good show when it says completed. Then you'll have a stock GB with CWM ready to go.
