Have you tried using another sd card?

copy all files from it that you need.
in cwm go to mounts and storage and select format /sdcard
then try the backup if it works copy the needed files back on to the card u removed
also yout could try in cwm advanced and fix permissions before u do the backup...

OK how what does this changing permissions do?

Please HELP I think a ROM bricked my phone!

I have an HTC inspire after a ROM install F1 CM 7 V3 it went to the boot logo on it's stuck, I pulled the battery and still stuck.. I dont know what to do....
Turn off hold volume down and power and open up and click recovery if you have a backup but if you don't then put a P98IMG file and restore you

OK I did this, but it wont let me get to recovery, it wants me to update HBOOT?
Yeah it wont let me get passed HBOOT?? any help?
Hold down Vol+power
Then use the volume down to select Recovery then press Power to select it.
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
Thats what im saying I do this and it shows HBOOT and all the stuff on the bottom including recovery, but when I hit the down key it wont move... keeps me on HBOOT and then HBOOT starts its script...
Remove the PD98IMG.zip from the root of your sd card if you intend to boot into recovery and restore a backup. As long as it's on the root the bootloader will load it.

Lol congrats, I've had my share of scares and definitely know the feeling

Always make sure to clear the cache prior to loading an update as well.

I have the AT&T One X... Ive rooted it, unlocked the bootloader, blah blah blah. Im sort of new at this, so when something happens, Im a little clueless. The point of learning, I suppose. Anyway, today I did a factory reset and restored to my earliest backup. The phone booted originally but then said process.android something or other has stopped working. Phone turned off. Now, when I try to turn it back on, it wont go past the boot animation. Its not connecting to my computer to reboot it with a command, either. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated and ASAP.

Did you Factory Reset from inside the ROM? Or from TWRP?

From the ROM. Thats when it told me process.android stopped, then went to the htc one x loading screen.
Frankly, my dear, you ****ed up.
Whenever you want to Wipe ANYTHING you have to do it from your recovery (TWRP).
Boot into TWRP by holding the down volume and power, for what seems like a lifetime and try to restore from there?

I will try this as soon as I get some charge on the battery. Thanks a lot
I finally got to the bootloader! What a relief. Thankfully I work with cell phones, so I had access to this loaner phone so I could find some answers. Maybe one day I'll be able to actually provide some substance! Haha

Now, however, I cant seem to find any ROMs installed on my phone. I know Ive done this somehow before, but how do I get a rom on the phone when the SD card wont mount to my computer?
And when I try to do a factory reset in TWRP it tells me in the dialog: E:Unable to mount /sdcard
Im beginning if this phone and I just werent meant to be. haha
Twrp did the mount thing to me as well. Still plugged USB and PC found the SD anyway. Copied ROM to SD, flash and bingo. Other option is to download the stock RUU.
PS I wouldn't publicly admit u work for at&t. J/k
Well kinda.

My computer still doesnt show any connection to the phone. I tried downloading the RUU and when I ran it on PC, it said it couldnt connect to my phone.
When doing RUU, make sure you relock your bootloader. Instructions here http://www.theandroidsoul.com/how-to-re-lock-htc-one-x-bootloader/
make sure you have HTC Sync and drivers installed if you are flashing RUU.
Also when u get into your bootloader, highlight bootloader and select it. After, right above that, in red it will read fastboot usb. Until then your pc wont recognize it.
It worked! You guys are all awesome!

SSGS 4G won't turn on! Please help

Sorry I'm a noob here, but here's the problem
I have a Galaxy S 4G, rooted
I tried doing an icon change for the battery through ROM Toolbox app and the phone turned off and now it won't boot up, I looked on other posts but couldn't find anything that would help, I figured out how to get into download mode but it won't go into recovery. It just goes up to the Samsung Galaxy S 4G logo and stops or keeps rebooting if I press Vol Up and the power button
Please help!
When you see the logo flash just slightly brighter let go of the power button.
Hold vol-up and vol-down, then hold power, then when the phone starts to boot let go of power while still holding the volume buttons until you get into recovery.

I'm able to go into download mode so I probably don't need to unbrick it, it just won't turn on
If your on a bml rom you could just use gremlin remover and that will give you rooted stock where heimdall will give you stock with no root

Follow this link here:
Heimdall One-Click Back-to-Stock
It will provide you with everything you need to revert your phone back to stock so it will turn on. Unfortunately, anything that flashes a ROM like this will delete all of your data on the phone itself (i.e. contacts, apps, etc.). Hopefully you have a backup of your contacts in Google or T-Mobile, and you can always just push your apps back to your phone through the Play Store on the computer if you don't have a Titanium Backup. Nothing on the SD card will be deleted, but it is still a good idea to make a backup of it on your computer before you do this.

If they are backed up in Google or T-Mobile, they should restore on their own. Also, contacts that are on your SIM card won't be deleted. Other than that, there's nothing you can really do that I know of.

[Q] Phone Frozen!!! (Solved)

Ok so within 20 minutes of doing a nandroid backup and restore my phone freezes at the main loading screen after i press reboot phone. Is there anything i can do to fix this. Please someone help.
Do battery pull, then three button combo to get to recovery, clear both cashes , factory reset , wipe the system, remount the system, reinstall your from fresh from the SD card. Sorry but you Android back up is some how corrupted, you can try to do an advanced restore of just your data from it, only if you are coming from the same ROM.Good luck.

Since you're in download mode, flash a one click file with a modified kernel with cwm. I think eollie has a thread for it somewhere. That'll get you back to stock GB plus CWM.

right now i am using heimdall one click with a stock rom so i will let you know if this works
Well i was able to do the one click but now when I go to download an app it says error package file is invalid or something like that
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda app-developers app
If you are having problems using heimdall you could always try Gremlin Remover just download it make sure you have the right drivers installed, install GR then run, the plug your USB in , wait for the top left bar to turn yellow the press start. Then eat lunch or read a book, watch a good show when it says completed. Then you'll have a stock GB with CWM ready to go.

My phone is stuck in boot loop

My phone keeps rebooting over and over again, it will boot and I can unlock but after 30 seconds or so it will restart I've tried booting without the SD card with no luck still, it is not rooted and I have no idea how to fix it please help

You have a stuck power button. Pull the battery and then put it back in. If it boots right away that will confirm it. You can try to clean it or have it replaced.
