Hope some of you can help me out..
I'm having some problems when putting my phone in silent mode (both using the notification bar shortcut and going to settings > sound > silent mode).
After turning on silent mode, whenever I receive a new SMS or Call, the phone automatically disables silent mode. So my next SMS or Call, the phone rings with sound.
I've tried stock ROM, ICS-themed ROM and MIUI, but every time, this problem always occur.
Try clearing cache n dalvik cache n c..

Maybe u use the volume rocker by mistake to exit the silent mode..
do you use stock sms app or smth. like go sms?? could be a cause for the problem.

Nope. I can simulate the problem by placing the phone down on a table and not touching it. Still the same results.

This sounds like you are using setCPU and have a sleep/screen off mode.
Where as VU has a special O/C daemon which is much quicker at switching CPU modes and speeds and is known to have a faster wake time.

no. Setcpu is not installed
When you say "5 seconds to wake up" what exactly do you mean? Do you mean:
Switch screen off
Switch screen back on again
5 second pause
Lock screen displayed
???
For me the above process is literally instant (even with SetCPU underclocking the CPU to ~350MHz when the screen is off).
If you mean something different, I'm not understanding.

Ah... I've seen this before!
Some games don't quit (or even pause) when you press the HOME button, or even when you "quit" them via the game's own menus. This means they're open in the background, sucking up CPU.
The result is it appears as though your phone has inexplicably "slowed down" a lot.
This only stops (of its own accord) when Android's app management stuff determines that the game is no longer needed, and closes it for you.
Easiest ways to ensure this doesn't happen:
1) If you're just pressing the HOME button to leave the game, don't! Keep pressing back, and look for any "are you sure you want to quit" type dialogs (obviously pressing the affirmative button should you see one). If you don't see one, hopefully the game has quit properly.
2) If you notice your phone is running unnaturally slow... go into "Manage Running Services" (I think that's what it's called) in the "Applications" options menu, find the last game you played, click on it, and do a "Force Close". With luck, your phone will run at "full speed" again immediately thereafter!
Hope it helps!
Okay. Thanks

When you wiped the data, cleared the cache, flashed your ROM, flashed the kernel (assuming you put a custom kernel on), did you then flash the Google Apps package (http://goo-inside.me/gapps/gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip) as well?
If not, download it, stick it on an SD card, reboot into recovery (remember the beloved "adb reboot recovery" command), clear the cache again, then flash the google apps package onto your phone.
Should solve your problem!

don't forget to erase your cache before flashing the zip, or you'll "soft-brick" your phone!

I have this issue when running the deodexed/zipaligned version, but not the straight Odin flash.
Just need to keep wiping & reflashing. I didn't have this problem on my first or fourth flashes, but I did on my second and third flashes.
I had this problem along with the dead home and search buttons. I did a factory data reset and everything is fine. The only recurring issue is the the mms app freezing when attempting to delete a thread.

sometimes for no reason band corruption occurs. I suggest the following in can
factory reset 3x
format system 3x
wipe dalvik cache 3x
dark side 2x
Odin back stock
reboot twice
Odin can
dark side again
flash custom rom
I had similar problems to you and this looking procedure cured them.
I have the same problem with my fiancée phone which I am on right now. Shuts off and starts repeatedly vibrating on a stock non rooted phone.... I never got around to rooting this phone, unless she did it and didn't tell me.but assuming this isn't rooted what do I do?

Three or four times a day, my Nexus 5 wont vibrate. I can fix it by shaking the phone lightly or reboot.
I think there's an app that's causing this issue. Any advice?
EDIT:
I think it's only haptic feedback on keyboard and sorftware keys that stop working.

If you suspect a app, maybe it's better to start uninstalling some of them. I suppose you use stock keyboard.
Agreed, the stock keyboard, if having a problem with keyboard, would be a good start to use versus a custom keyboard.

Back, home and "recent apps" button are also affected. I tried a hard reset and I hope it solved the issue, no problem so far
Try to install your apps one by one. Maybe that's the way to find the app that cause your problem.

May have had a flash problem then. Hope this solved for you.
I think the strength of the vibration becomes weaker, i've been suspecting that my phone has that pattern of behaviour, where sometimes at random you don't feel any vibration (or weak vibration) when pressing any of the nav. bar buttons (back, home, recent apps).. And then after a while it comes back to normal. Honestly, it doesn't bother me or limit when using my phone.
Is this what you're facing OP?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I've experienced this issue. It is rare and only looses haptic feedback for about 5 seconds then comes back. I think its just a small bug. Nothing serious
I have exactly the same issue as OP on my new Nexus 5 32GB.
For me it also happens for 3 buttons in the navigation bar and for keyboard (both stock an SwiftKey).
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I'd say it is a crappy driver bug. There was a bug on the galaxy nexus where in certain conditions (..opening apps from the recent apps menu) would lower the touch sensitivity, and typing would become a PITA, until you turn the display OFF/ON. Google never solved that issue completely, so i wouldn't bet they'll do anything to this vibration thing. Although, it's not a big deal as the galaxy nexus bug was..

I've had no problems since I did a hard reset in recovery, try that if you're facing this bug

What exactly do you mean by "hard reset"? I have custom recovery and just flashed custom ROM today with full wipe. The problem still remains, exactly as it was on stock before. How do I do this "hard reset"?

With stock recovery:
1. Turn off phone
2. Hold volume up + down and boot your phone.
3. Go to recovery
4. Hold power and then press volume up
5. Click on "wipe data/factory reset"
6. Choose "Yes - erase all user data".
