HTC Sensation red triangle after trying to install OTA ICS for TMobile - HTC Sensation

Hello,
I hope someone can help me out.
I few months ago I unlocked and rooted my phone, but I never installed a custom ROM.
This morning I wanted to install the new ICS 4.0 OTA update for TMobile and during the boot process I got the famous red triangle sign error...
What am I doing wrong, what can I do to update to ICS OTA?
Thanks,
Amel

First - Post things like this in the Q&A Section
Secondly - Did you install a custom recovery? I Expect you did! You have to have stock recovery for OTA Updating

shoot
please move this to Sensation General forum

Sorry, when I posted this I noticed it was in the wrong forum category.
I have no clue if I installed a customer recovery, if I did how do I get back to stock recovery?
Thanks!

I followed the instructions, however it would not run the TMOUS RUU
I noticed that my phone was on s-ON
So I ran Revolutionary to s-OFF my phone
that fixed the RUU being applied
after the RUU was applied I ran the ICS OTA update and it worked

Thanks but this is just the update. Birgertime was talking about creating a stock rooted flashable ROM for those of us who are rooted.
I know, I was informing the OP that he was beaten to the link - wasn't clear enough!

MY MOM!
I am using stock tmobile RUU_Pyramid_TMOUS_1.29.531.2_Radio_10.42.9007.00P_10.11.9007.15_M_release_193714_signed and S-OFF. I applied the update and it works. I am on 2.3.4 and it is very smooth and fast.
Gordo,
I have s-off via Revolutionary and am rooted. I downloaded this OTA update, but it will not install? How did you do it?

[Q] Rooting Mytouch 4G Slide?

Okay, can someone kinda fill me in on developmental status for rooting the Mytouch 4g Slide. I would like to root mine. I did some researching for a little while and is kinda lost. I haven't rooted a phone for a couple years now.
Developmental status? Like what roms do we have? Or, how do u root?

Depends on a few things, like when you bought the phone.
Look into the "revolutionary method"

Actually both. Where do I begin?
The unlockr has the revolutionary method on there. That's how most of us did it. Make sure all the links work before u use it.
Once u follow through with that, use rom manager to update to the latest clockwork mod.
Once u get rooted make a backup of ur stock rooted rom and start flashing whatever u want
Use undeadk9's rubix ics 5.2 from page 180 with the messaging fix zip in the op page 1
Follow the directions I posted on page 148
=) that's the best, fastest, and most stable rom atm. But there's a few real ics roms out there if u wanna play around with them.

If your HBOOT version is 1.45.0013 (get into HBOOT by turning off fast boot in settings, turning off your phone, and then holding volume down and power), you won't be able to get perma-root until HTC fixes their bootunlocker or until someone else devises a method to get S-OFF.

We have discovered that if your machine is S-OFF you can flash any version hboot you want. I swap back and forth between all 4 consistently.
----
Shawn411:
They got you covered, just run revolutionary and S-OFF the device, then you can do anything you want after that.
You will start with CWM 4.0.0.8 if you choose to install during the Rev process, if not then you will be S-OFF with stock recovery.

Replacing Stock Recovery: Clockworkmod
If you have S-OFF but stock recovery, the easiest method is to:
1 - Follow the instructions in This Thread to get temp root.
2 - Without rebooting, add your market account to the device.
3 - Install ROM Manager from the market.
4 - Flash Clockworkmod through ROM Manager.
5 - What you do next is up to you (but a clockworkmod backup isn't a bad idea.)

...which is what others have mentioned above.
Any questions just ask, plenty of us floating around willing to help.
Okay, I used Revolutionary to S-OFF my device. It gave me the option to install clockworkmod recovery. I typed in yes but my recovery still looks the same as stock. All it says at the top is Revolutionary~ and all the other information.
...that is your hboot menu.
Hit volume down to select recovery in the list, then press power to accept - now you will see your recovery.

Need help with rooting MT4GS!
I have noticed that this thread looks to be the lastest work on rooting a MyTouch 4G Slide. I have the HBOOT 1.45.0013 and I was wondering if anyone has figured out how to get either the HBOOT downgraded or Revolutionary to work with it. Any help with links to this fix will be appreciated.

OTA update received today. Won't install. Help.

Received OTA on my sensation today but as soon as it unpacks while installing it ends up with a red triangle. Looked through XDA. Couldn't find anything appropriate.
Any one knows how to deal with this?

Ok the assert line is the crucial information here because in the script to update it, it checks each individual file checksum and compares it against the one htc put in the script, if they match, it applies the patch, if not then you get assert error on the first apk.
My guess is that you have the 3.32.401.5 ROM whereas the OTA is for 3.32.401.5_R ROM and the checksums are obviously different in the two different ROM versions. My suggestion would be to find the Shipped Pyramid ROM Collection thread by Football in the dev section and download the 3.32.401.5_R RUU, make sure to download 3.32.401.5_R and not 3.32.401.5 then run the RUU and wait for OTA and it should apply without any problems so long as you flash the correct RUU
Also can be a bad download - maybe deleting the file and download again worth a shot.

Lol lucky he didn't brick or corrupt hboot . There is a version of that here in android to use instead of ota btw
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
To the OP:
-When you take an ota, it tries to reboot to recovery. You have a custom recovery installed, but you have to have stock recovery to install an official update.
-You can flash this thing you downloaded, but it has to be renamed update.zip and moved to the root directory. Then you've got to run a ruu to get stock recovery back on.
-If you have s-on and superCID, installing this OTA will brick your phone.
-The 3.18 ota contains some firmware updates and a new hboot that aren't included in JB roms. But if your phone is running fine, you don't need these.
-You're better off just flashing a JB rom until you understand more about how your phone works.

[Q] Flashing a ROM on HTC Sensation 4g

Hello everyone,
I recently bought HTC Sensation 4g (T-mobile) and it's already S-OFF, rooted (Superuser by ClockworkMod) and recovery is CWM 5.0.2.0 and it has stock rom Android 2.3.4. Recently, I got alerted about an update of 4.0.4 for my HTC then I downloaded it but can't install it so I guess it's because it's rooted. I really want to install 4.0.4 on my HTC sensation 4g then I searched up for roms until I found this rom - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1654347
Now, my question is, how should I flash it? Should I normally just flash it via CWM or via odin? Or I will have to go back to stock recovery for flashing the rom that Steve0007 posted on the thread linked above. And just to confirm, is it compatible with my device?
Android: 2.3.4
HTC Sense: 3.0
Software number: 1.50.531.1
Thanks!

First upgrade your firmware to 3.33universal
Go to the development section and search for kohr-ah's thread
Follow the instructions carefully and before flashing check md5 sums(important)
After that you have to flash an ics or jellybean Rom because your current Rom won't boot with ics firmware
Edit:do not never use Odin for anything.it is not for sensation devices
