[Q] Flashing a ROM on HTC Sensation 4g - HTC Sensation

Hello everyone,
I recently bought HTC Sensation 4g (T-mobile) and it's already S-OFF, rooted (Superuser by ClockworkMod) and recovery is CWM 5.0.2.0 and it has stock rom Android 2.3.4. Recently, I got alerted about an update of 4.0.4 for my HTC then I downloaded it but can't install it so I guess it's because it's rooted. I really want to install 4.0.4 on my HTC sensation 4g then I searched up for roms until I found this rom - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1654347
Now, my question is, how should I flash it? Should I normally just flash it via CWM or via odin? Or I will have to go back to stock recovery for flashing the rom that Steve0007 posted on the thread linked above. And just to confirm, is it compatible with my device?
Android: 2.3.4
HTC Sense: 3.0
Software number: 1.50.531.1
Thanks!

First upgrade your firmware to 3.33universal
Go to the development section and search for kohr-ah's thread
Follow the instructions carefully and before flashing check md5 sums(important)
After that you have to flash an ics or jellybean Rom because your current Rom won't boot with ics firmware
Edit:do not never use Odin for anything.it is not for sensation devices

And uhh, it's really big headache unlike Samsung mobiles.. easy to root and easy to get back to stock. HTC is a big headache for those things.

Hey, just changed my mind, how about flashing another good custom ROM? Should I just flash custom ROM via CWM? 4.0.4 stock is way too hard and gonna take time.

You can flash the 3.12 firmware and then you should be able to flash a Stock ROM.

Flashing ROMs and such.

So, I've unlocked bootloader and rooted my friends sensation all with s on because he was already on stock ICS but then I ran into the problem that you have to flash a certain type of firmware before a custom ROM ??? I've owned several androids and never had to do that and that seems rather weird but I flashes aokp on his phone and it workes successfully. I was wondering what other ROMs are there that are stable and good that you can just straight flash? I'd appreciate it so I can give him more options. Thanks

You do not need any firmware as you already are on the ics firmware from the OTA.
And did you s-off?

No I didn't need to do s off , there was a method since it was already on stock ICS. And its no longer on stock its on AOKP. And some roms do need firmware because I tried to flash cm9 and nightlies like 4 times every time they boot looped and other ROMs, then I re read and they all said they needed firmware flashed first. AOKP is the only one that worked.

Hey yes the flashing roms with SON guide will work.. But firmware flash won't work on SON devices... So flashing 3.33 is not possible for the OP... Just a suggestion

Ok thank you ! iv been doing some more reading about s on, now I see they must be s off in order to do the firmware update. My apologies. Now I know and will remember this.... I am s off and being S on is quite different in many ways. Will do some more reading and study about s on. Again my apologies,.

first S-OFF using this guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1661631
then flash gingerbread firmware to downgrade from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767 (follow the instructions carefully and before flashing firmware check md5 sums)
then you have to flash a gingerbread rom from recovery in order to boot the device after installing the firmware
Do you now a gingerbread recovery? I have S-OFF and firmware already

do you have already installed a recovery?
if yes then if you have installed gingerbread firmware from bootloader the only thing you have to do is flash a gingerbread rom from recovery
done
There are no Froyo ROMs for the Sensation and unlikely that anyone would be willing to create one. Only 2.3+ ROMS exist.

[Q] Installing CyanogenMod

Hello,
I am new to installing custom ROMs on phones, but due to poor customer service from my carrier I don't have much other choice.
I am trying to install CM10, but my HBOOT version (1.27.0000) is not supported by Revolution. Is there a want to revert my version, or is there another quality ROM that enables tethering via Bluetooth?
Also if I could get an installation walk-though as well that would be great, Thank you for your time.

S-ON or S-OFF?
if you are S-ON flash 4ext recovery
enable smartflash from it
then immediately flash the rom(i think you have to flash also gapps if you want cyanogenmod rom)
also what do you mean that your hboot version isn't supported by revolution?
you can flash also ARHD rom

jelly bean roms can boot in ics firmware
many users are using jelly bean roms
but always have a nandroid backup just in case
Thanks All!
Took a couple tries. Finally got it working.
1. Flash ROM (OpenSensation2 - CM10 Mod)
2. Reboot
3. Do original device setup stuff
4. Reboot into Recovery again
5. Flash Gapps
6. Reboot again
7. Setup Google Play Store settings
I was originally trying to flash both the ROM and Gapps and then reboot. Take things one at a time and the end result is much better
Now to try CM10 on my N7.
