The Motorola Atrix 2 is still a new phone and doesn't have any roms. I was wondering if I could use Atrix 4G roms on the Atrix 2?
No. The hardware is totally different.
I wouldnt try it but thats just me. Hardware differences.

Thank you.
Should I root my Atrix 2? The last time a rooted it it wouldn't boot up. It was stuck in a loop. It went to the AT&T logo then restarted again. So I took it back and got another one. Im pretty sure that happened because I flashed cwm recovery for Motorola Atrix 4G not Atrix 2. There was no Atrix 2 chioce probably because my phone is too new. Should I root?
I tried to root my Xoom two months ago, unsuccessfully. Like many others, I had my Xoom serviced by Motorola due to the bricking. The Xoom works now, but i still want to run a different rom, preferably with less bloatware. Is the Xoom still rootable, or should I kick myself for asking?

It should still be rootable. You will probably need to oem unlock, install a custom recovery and then just flash a rooted rom. You will find them in the Development section. I recommend the configuration in my signature. Really simple that way.
Edit: Nevermind, it's an MZ600. Just checked.
Everyone with an non AT&T Atrix 2 forget about the AT&T ICS leak, don't go and try to flash it because you will be stuck and maybe get hard bricked and out of luck if you have no warranty. If you are on an non AT&T Atrix 2 and try to flash back to AT&T 2.3.5 or 2.3.6 with RSDLite there is a 65% that it will fail if you are not using an AT&T Atrix 2. To prevent hard brick, please be pacient till the official release of ICS for non AT&T Atrix 2, but remember this only applies to non AT&T phones.
You can try the SEARET or MEARET ICS leak, flash only MEARET and SEARET roms if you are trying to flash back to 2.3.6 eventho it is not recommended.
I don't want this to keep happening and specially if you have no warranty like me, you'll be stuck and you will either have to take it to a repair shop or get a new phone, it's not free like the AT&T ones that have warranty and can get a replacement for free.
Think Twice!
I'm a noob, but trying to help the noob from my experience!
We pay for insurance on our phones each month. It's not free. I've had a att account for over 5 years so they owe me a couple of phones as much extra money they have gotten out of me. This is probably my second warranty exchange.

Yeah, it's better not too. Just be patience and wait for the final release. I hope it's a good one.
The Indian ics leak is fine to use.
So use that one, not the at&t.

good question - on one hand, I would think so, as the difference would be just in the SIM card. but on the other hand, there could some VZW info on the custom ROMs that may not jive with a non-VZW phone.
I'll defer to someone with more experience.
sorry I could not be of any help on this.
The US Cellular Galaxy S Aviator, despite being the same phone, was not compatible with the recovery from this phone, and without that, you're getting nowhere. Back when the Aviator came out, someone was able to get a copy of the stock Odin from the phone, and imnuts used that to build a CWM recovery for it so superuser could be flashed. Something similar could probably be done here, but I wouldn't know where to start.
Having the version from the software might be helpful. I know the Aviator versions are different than the Charge. If the Lightray is the same as either, there is a chance that the recovery is the same as the matching phone, but even that is no guarantee. If you can't get the stock Odin to recover from, you'll probably be risking a brick to find out.

Is the Galaxy S Lightray 4G Metropcs 'unrootable'?
HELP! Is Samsung Galaxy S Lightray 4G 'unrootable'??
I have tried three different techniques, to root the Samsung Galaxy S Lightray 4G Metropcs, all to NO AVAIL!
My first feeble attempt was using SuperOneClick=softbrick ie, stuck on download screen,
Then I tried the basic Odin flash, with stock uckk4 ROM=Odin stuck in 'set up, battery died while waiting, as 'NOT to turn off Target'=softbrick,
and last but by no means least, the Droid Charge technique=hardbrick
HELP!!! I have scoured the net and can find NOTHING that has proven to be successful!
To make matters worse, it's not even my phone! I was trying to help my brother in law, since he and my sis are moving out of state, California, and are going to need to sign with different server once they've passed Texas, I believe, on their way to South Carolina.
Samsung Galaxy S Lightray 4G
2.3.6
You'll need a custom recovery, and as far as I know, there isn't one for the Lightray. I don't think any devs even have the phone, either. The only real chance is to get a stock Odin image and the source to someone who knows how to work with recoveries.
:/

I just picked up one of these things and have it rooted but am not having any luck finding a rom for it... Has anyone gotten a lightray to take ICS?

I haven't found one who did, although, I thought maybe (I could be really wrong) that you could cross boot CM 10.1 of another device with similar specs. It could be an option
Anything going on with the Galaxy Lightray?
They just dropped the price to $99, going to get one for my wife since I broke her phone last night. I see a root for it, but no roms.
thanks.

Nope, tried that one before it bricked with ODIN....Trouble is, still no recovery ROM and it's nearing 2 since it's release. Here I STILL sit with a R940 with less then a couple months talk time on it! Phhhffffffffffffttttttttttttt
Since both of the Phones have almost same hardware specifications,
So, My Question
IS IT POSSIBLE TO FLASH SBF AVAILABLE FOR MOTOROLA ELECTRIFY 2 ON MOTOROLA ATRIX 2. IF YES, THEN PLEASE ENLIGHTEN ME.
For SBF Repository, google "Droid-Developers SBF"

No it is not possible, the bootloaders are different and RSD lite will do a bootloader check, and not allow the software to flash to the atrix 2.
You should ONLY run software meant for the Atrix 2 on the Atrix 2.

You are right, it did not allow me to flash firmware meant for Electrify 2 on Atrix 2.
Is it not possible to fool RSD lite with some sort of trick, like replacing only few relevant files to acceptable extent in the SBF bundle meant only for Atrix 2, with files from SBF bundle for Electrify 2, and changing MD5 Hashes in the .XML file as well, and then try flashing them using RSD lite on Atrix 2?
Which files does RSD lite refer to validate SBF for a particular model?

Look if you keep going down this path, you will likely brick your phone.
If you don't like the stock atrix 2 ROM run a custom ROM from the dev section... Much safer.
You can't run software from other phones on the atrix2, even though they seem very close spec wise, there are things that are different enough to cause problems.
It is just not a good idea to do this, you will end up crying.

NO, I like the stock ROM for Atrix 2 very much, but Motorola would not release update to Jelly Bean for Atrix 2, that is the reason why I WANTED to try Jelly Bean ROM for Electrify 2 on Atrix 2, for that would be stable and final, better than the leaked test build of the Jelly Bean ROM available for ME865, I have tried that but downgraded back to ICS.
If other ROMs can not be installed on Atrix 2 because of the locked bootloader, then how can I install custom ROMs and which one?

I already have, even before starting this thread, bricked my phone. Sad! But no worries my phone still comes in warranty, I have sent it for board replacement.
I swapped the files but forgot to update MD5 hashes in the .XML, this I noticed later.
Flashing process started but aborted in the middle due to mismatch of the hashes, leaving my phone useless.
So I don't know if I would have changed the MD5 hashes along with the files, what might have happened?
1. Hard brick
2. Soft brick, which could be fixed the same way
3. Soft brick, fixing which could lead to hard brick
4. Everything worked, but the phone model changed
That is why I asked which files need to be same in the SBF bundle and which could safely be swapped.
If you have international version of atrix 2 why not flash JB leak?

Bro not trying to be rude here but the things which you are trying to get into many others have already tried much more and bricked many phones and no one other than Jim knows better about this.So if a person keeps on telling you you're gonna get into trouble either listen to him if you think he has enough credentials or just stop repeating the same things over and over again. It may be fun to try new things out and knowing that even if you brick you can always get a replacement but these things are not new or logical.
From the looks of it(not being judgmental here )you don't have a very good knowledge about bootloaders, kernels,ROMs and stuff related to Atrix 2 atleast. And AFAIK it can't be explained in a post.
The things you're trying might have a possibility on other devices but this is Atrix 2 you're taking about(Hell i've even grown tired criticizing about this goddamn phone) so it's better to just forget about it.
The simple logic behind ROM flashing is that they don't change the bootloader.
