IMEI changed - Samsung Galaxy R i9103

I have a samsung galaxy r[gt-i9103]...had rooted it...but then after a couple of months of rooting the network suddenly vanished. the android version i currently have is 2.3.4 and kernel version is [email protected] 142 #3..the imei has changed to 004999010640000 which is not the imei number i am supposed to have. tried a lot of things but got no where close to getting it back. decided to take to the samsung guys..any idea as to how much would it cost me to get it repaired considering the fact they will know my phone is rooted?

have you taken EFS folder backup.. if not before going to service center flash stock firmware of your country and do factory reset, so that they will not know you have rooted your device..

I think he has already given it for servicing, but I'm not sure of the cost of getting a phone repaired by ssc (samsung service centre) , normally through some contacts we just have to pay rs1000 and the ssc ppl close one eye and repair the phone as though its under warranty.

if u have warranty they will repair it for free, approx they will take 1~2 days in this as this is only a software issue.

if u have stock efs folder u can give it a try i m not sure it will work or not.
and about ssc they will fix it for free, just flash indian stock rom, reset counter and if possible format data so that they cant find traces of recovery or other apps which need root.
just claim that u were using ur phone and it restarted and boom ur networks gone, they will easily believe this and repair it for free. dont ever mention that u have messed with phone by rooting and flashing custom stuff. dont forget to take copy of bill with u

Yes. If u wont reset they will tell u u have flashed unofficial stuff on ur phone and that voids warranty.
(usualy in ssc they write on notice board that flashing custom roms or rooting voids ur warranty)

if u goto ssc with rooted or counter increased device they will declare that ur device no longer in warranty and all future problems will be chargeable too.
why u cant get jig? if u have cc related issue than use this thread, many peoples are sharing their jig.

Sending Nexus in for repairs?

Ok I'm sending my phone to Samsung but it is rooted and has a ICS rom on it. I's being sent in because the power button is broke do you guys think I need to unroot and lock the boot? Or will they not care its only a hardware issue? If they void my warranty do I have to pay to get it fixed? thanks
Yes, unroot. They won't work on it for free. You will have to pay repair fees. IDK how much.

Indeed, I also saw some posts of people saying that. I haven't asked if they paid something or not. Or what their exact situation is. Try asking someone who sent their rooted phone to samsung, maybe they can help.

Your did read the "your warranty is now void" message right?
That statement means your warranty is now void, you can can try to get it repaired for free but don't ***** and whine if they refuse to honor you now VOID warranty
its chill as long as you unroot the phone and relock your bootloader. I have done it. And i got repaired under warranty, they din't even know that it had been rooted.
i agree, i wouldn't take the risk. take a nandroid, back it up to PC (for safety), flash back to full stock and lock your bootloader. when you get it back, unlock, flash recovery and flash your nandroid back.
Yep, i know someone who didn't and he paid all the repair ...

Well if they are in a good mood or technicians who don't care...
I dont think you should unroot. But if you can get it back to stock and unroot it, do it. Better safe than sorry...
about unlocking the bootloader? Well warranty is void. You can better hope they dont notice. or if they do notice it hope they dont care
You have to get it repaired anyway.

Bricked P-6200 Advice Please

The worst has happened and it's all my fault
Having not used my Galaxy Tab for some weeks (I've been using my SGS III) I updated to the latest Brazillian ICS firmware and for a stupid reason did a factory rest which has resulted in me bricking my Tab.
I am now getting a boot loop on the screen that states it's a Galaxy Tab Plus, I can get into download mode but not recovery.
Having read a number of posts of similar problems, have tried flashing a .pit file and firmware but still no joy. It seems that it may have to be a trip to the Samsung Service Centre. Thankfully in download mode it is still showing a stock firmware with a zero counter.
Would be interested for any experiences on people who have had to return it to a service centre and whether I may get any potential problems as it was bought off ebay around 6 months ago and is the P-6200L model.
Any help is appreciated :good:
I'm not sure about this but u may try to flash cm10.. firstly download pit file and Odin then u flash the pit file.. also download cwm and cm10 then flash cm using cwm.. then wait for the device to reboot.. it works for me.. ^_^

I had the same thing yesterday.... If I look at the article there is a link there to an article and if you read that I see the advise to flash the original firmware through Odin maybe you can give that a try? I haven't had the change yet... but will try this afternoon... If that doesn't work I will also try aorth's post and if that fails I going back to the service center....

Have tried flashing a variety of different firmwares for my P6200 even the .pit files but still no luck.
Have spoken to a pleasant customer services gentleman who's arranged for me to return it and have it repaired under warranty.
Must make mental note to self NOT to do a factory reset via the default recovery option ever again

Tried using Heimdall earlier but can't get it to recognise my device, neither will Kies now...back to Samsung is my only chance now!!!
Dude I had the same Problem. Flashed I've again with odyn and wiped everything 4-5times
I've given up... device will be sent back to service desk today for repair. Hopefully under waranty as I didn't root yet nor flashed a custom rom... I did, however, install CWM 6.0.0.8, but I guess that is not an issue (can anybody confirm?)

S4 (9505) unrooted : mic + speaker not working anymore during calls

Hi,
all of a sudden the microphone and speakerphone stopped working during calls. I can't hear and nobody can't hear me.
The phone is not rooted. I already tried to update the software with odin, but that didn't help.
I didn't try the baseband reinstall yet through odin, but would that work?
The funny thing is, i have a sip client installed. When I call over wifi or 3g through the sip client everything works ??!!
I hope you guys have some ideas before i send it for repair. The phone is 2 months old and didn't fall or anything like that.
thnx

Hi bungadudu,
why? because i'm a noob or because you think it won't help.
these actions won't void warranty right? it won't increase the binary counter
There are experimented users who messed with their rom and now lost their warranty and /or got into another problems.
For you I'd say it doesn't worth the risk.
That's what services are for.
We here have 1 hour guaranteed repair (they usually just replace the whole screen ansamble or the motherboard), guess it's the same worldwide.
You have nothing to loose and it will spare you from many headaches.
only rooted or have you flashed any other rom ?
If you using any custom rom, check for updates.
to rerstore the stock rom, maybe this will help you XXXX://briolidz.wordpress.com/2013/08/12/samsung-galaxy-s4-i9505-unroot-and-restore-to-stock-rom/

[Q] Flashing a factory image after IMEI repair... will it restore the original imei?

Hey guys ...
I really need some help here...
so... I changed the IMEI on my nexus 5, that required an unlocked bootloader and a root... now I want to relock the bootloader and flash the stock image...
my question is:
Will the imei in my phone is going to be restored to the original phone imei? or can I still have the new imei after relocking and flashing the stock image
thank you
How and why did you change your imei?

the mobile carriers in turkey let you use your phone for 2 weeks ... if you bought your phone from outside of turkey... to make you buy a phone from them instead of buying it from other countries
and it costs me 35$
so... back to my question (vin4yak) are you sure about that? cuz I don't want to pay 35$ again
Ok well changing IMEI is illegal in most countries so it cannot be discussed here.

Technically it shouldn't... The factory images don't touch the /efs partition which contains the IMEI... But since it's been changed illegally, there's no way to know "how" it was actually changed.

I don't think they changed anything, just maybe allowed that IMEI within the networks.
Changing IMEI is illegal in many countries therefore cannot be discussed on XDA
So please do not speculate on or discuss the process
