S6 Doesn't Work after Motherboard Change! - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
I sent my S6 for repair and they came back to me saying that they it still doesn't work after a Motherboard Change odd?
Also if MB is changed will KNOX remain tripped or will it be reset to 0?

New MB did not work too

Did they offer any other advice? Or just leave you with a still broken phone?

Apparently since the local centre who got the device first attempted a repair with a change of MB could not get it to work, they sent it to the main repair centre...

So ask the repair people when it comes back. They're the ones who will have the answer.

IMEI changed

I have a samsung galaxy r[gt-i9103]...had rooted it...but then after a couple of months of rooting the network suddenly vanished. the android version i currently have is 2.3.4 and kernel version is [email protected] 142 #3..the imei has changed to 004999010640000 which is not the imei number i am supposed to have. tried a lot of things but got no where close to getting it back. decided to take to the samsung guys..any idea as to how much would it cost me to get it repaired considering the fact they will know my phone is rooted?

have you taken EFS folder backup.. if not before going to service center flash stock firmware of your country and do factory reset, so that they will not know you have rooted your device..

I think he has already given it for servicing, but I'm not sure of the cost of getting a phone repaired by ssc (samsung service centre) , normally through some contacts we just have to pay rs1000 and the ssc ppl close one eye and repair the phone as though its under warranty.

if u have warranty they will repair it for free, approx they will take 1~2 days in this as this is only a software issue.

if u have stock efs folder u can give it a try i m not sure it will work or not.
and about ssc they will fix it for free, just flash indian stock rom, reset counter and if possible format data so that they cant find traces of recovery or other apps which need root.
just claim that u were using ur phone and it restarted and boom ur networks gone, they will easily believe this and repair it for free. dont ever mention that u have messed with phone by rooting and flashing custom stuff. dont forget to take copy of bill with u

Resetting the counter is essential right?

Yes. If u wont reset they will tell u u have flashed unofficial stuff on ur phone and that voids warranty.
(usualy in ssc they write on notice board that flashing custom roms or rooting voids ur warranty)

if u goto ssc with rooted or counter increased device they will declare that ur device no longer in warranty and all future problems will be chargeable too.
why u cant get jig? if u have cc related issue than use this thread, many peoples are sharing their jig.

open-line is what you called here in the philippines so that you can access their local network...but my problem was, when they return back my phone and when I opened it its all blank then I can't use it anymore...is there anyway that I can fix my phone or should I throw it away and buy a new one.? :crying:

You should bring it back to them and tell them they broke your phone.

Return policy?

Anyone know if returning to stock is good enough for returning the device? Does Knox have to be reset?
Tmobile doesn't blink an eye at any phone being modified when returning

So then what is the big deal when it comes to Knox being tripped and what not? Is that for warranty purposes for Samsung?
I honestly don't know, never have I sent a phone into samsung

Odin back to stock will do the trick, I've turned in a few Samsung phones with knox tripped for warranty and JOD. No issue at all
Awesome, thanks for the help.
T-Mobile doesn't check to see if Knox has been tripped. Just flash it back to stock and your good to go. Only time you may have to worry about Knox is when sending it to Samsung for a warranty issue.

T-Mobile doesn't care, but just to let you know, Knox can't just be reset.

64 gb motherboard on originally 32gb galaxy s6 920f

hy guys,
cause my s6 motherboard is gone by an "i don't know what happened", during a normal wipe data from twrp 3.0.2-0 i don't know how my s6 don't turn on anymore. dead completely. a friend send me an efs backup from his s6, i've flashed that and my s6 has turned on. the only BIG matter is the imei, that don't work for nothing the ril. i've done a billion things to try to let my s6 working, but it doesn't. so i will know if possible replace my mainboard with an 64 gb version, and if there is things to know-modify ecc, because i've found in ebay an 64 gb mainboard for g920f, and i've started thinking thank you!!

What exactly are you planning to do with that?? Yeah you'll be able to get it in there, maybe even get it to boot. But you still won't be able to use it on a network till you get your imei back in there

the new motherboard comes with a different imei. he just needs to register the new imei on his account. To prove ownership he may have to show proof of ownership.
Did it work after you replace it? I was thinking to do it on mine as well.
