I noticed when I connect my One S to my TV things were kinda sluggish. According to my TV the resolution it was running at was 1920 x 1080 @ 24hz. I tried running the benchmarks quadrant and antutu while I was connected to the tv and when I wasn't. While I was connected my benchmarks were 4603 and 6172. While I'm not connected my scores are 5032 and 7050. Has anyone else experienced this much of a performance hit when connected to a TV through an MHL adapter? Is there a setting I can change to force a lower resoution when connected?

Does MHL have an inherent limitation of outputting at [email protected]? I have the cable for my HTC Sensation and that's what I get, just 24hz instead of 60hz that I thought. Also I realized the picture is not truly1080p. Sure the mode is 1080p on the tv but it's actually just the 960x540 native res of the phone's display that's upscaled to 1080. Anybody else have similar results or explanations?
I've had a similar result; all of my videos I play are upscaled to 1080p and to be honest the video doesn't look very good on my tv (you can see the upscaling by the big pixels). I'm using the Tmobile mhl adapter. I've seen youtube videos of the Galaxy S2 outputting 1080p movies through MHL. That looks like it is actually outputting real 1080p and not just being upscaled (but I'm not sure, its hard to tell from a youtube video). Does anyone else have input on this?
i know this is the sensation section however i have an evo 3d and it is pretty much the same internally. i too have this problem and i have a suspicion that it is due to the adapter. does anyone have the oem htc mhl adapter because my tvout is locked at 24fps probably due to my fake ebay mhl adapter. i dont want to spend $50 on a mhl adapter that may or may not be better than my current one.
I don't see how it would be able to not upscale the image?!
If it tried to use the full 1080p image then the resolution would need to change on the phone itself as well as the HDMI output.

i have a hdmi /mhl cable and it has came from mobilefun website and like other have mentioned i have different story because i use the mhl cable with my 24 inch led monitor which has a 1920*1080 res. but the trouble is that in setting it shows that it is outputting at 1280*[email protected] 60hz. i want toknow how can i make it work in 1920*1080 @60 hz.
another thing i want everyone to check is to type *#*#4636#*#* after connecting ur phone with your tv or monitor and check if your phone phone shows charging mode in ac or does it show usb charging
because in my case the problem is that it shows charging in usb mode and after a while of use i lose alot of battery and this is a problem because i have to take my phone and then i have to charge it normally also my phone gets very hot like nearly 50 degres.
please tell me ur experience with mhl cable with ur phone.
Hello!
I'm asking the same question in all forums for tegra 3 devices cause I can't find any information using google.
Has anyone when connecting the A700 via hdmi gotten 1080 with 24hz on your tv/display/projector/whatnot, not only 60 or 50hz?
I want to know if the Tegra 3 chip can output that kind of signal so you can get true 24p when watching movies.
hi folks,
i am looking for a solution for sending video to my LG TV from my i9505. miracast devices like the PTV3000 look appealing (no cables!), but is the image quality (smoothness of playback etc) as good as going mhl adapter and hdmi lead?
bump. anybody got any comments about picture quality with miracast vs hdmi cable?

I have both and can speak directly about their performance differences. I'm using my s4 as a Citrix client for work, and via the miracast, smaller 12 point font is pixelated and unreadable. It looks like the actual resolution of the wireless adjusts between 960 and 720 lines of resolution, and never goes to actual 1080. There is also about a full second of delay to the video signal so doing anything interactive is a bust.
The wired adapter is an impressively clear full 1080p with very minimal lag, but the adapter is awkward and you must be plugged in. Even at that, unless you are using the factory charger or one that you can set to 2 amps, you will lose overall battery in this scenario, even with the device screen turned all the way down. You cannot turn it off and continue to run the hdmi display unless you are rooted, and I haven't had a chance to go there yet.

buji thanks for the feedback. Think I'll go for the mhl adaptor. I don't want to compromise picture quality.
I always had a doubt about the display port and the managamente of tv out on android and particularly on nexus 4/nexus 5. I googled a lot about it but i've never found an aswer.
The output resolution is always the same of the source (1080x1920 on nexus 5) or other resolution are supported?
I have a 1360x768 tv/monitor, and before buying a display port adaptor i would like to know if the tv-out signal is scaled to the resolution of the monitor. Few week ago i connected an Archos 80 g9 to this monitor, through the mini hdmi port, but the resolution of the video wasn't the same of the panel, and everything looked blurry.
I don't know if depends on android, or on the monitor too. There is a way to set manually the resolution?
Has anyone connected Nexus 5 to a 1360x768 monitor?

Hi
I Bought sm t800 3 days ago. I supposed that since t800 supports mhl I can connect my tablet to my lcd monitor and ı can handle my daily work by using teamviewer app.
I get two diffferent mhl cables however when you connect t800 to monitör the screen is very blurr. If you play a video there is no problem crystal clear.
But if you want to use tablet as a pc which is connectted to monitör the resolution not allowed to work properly.
I also connect tablet three diffrent monitör result is same. Finally I begin to think that mhl works for only playing video if you wanna use tablet like pc hdmi way you should by an android tablet which has special port for hdmi.
When searach for this subject I found an app screen settings that allows you to adjust hdmi screen resolution but it requires root.
Any one has same issue and solution without root.
Thanks
Finally I found a solution.
If you have original mhl 3.0 cable then screen is good. But still cannot chanfe resolution
It down scales resolution to the HD screen, which results in some blurr.
