I purchased this adapter from monoprice, and I cannot get a picture to show up on an external monitor.
I've tried a samsung which is 1920x1200 and a dell that is 1920x1080. Neither monitors detect a signal.
The cable and adapter work with my phone (LG G2X - tegra 2 based); but the picture is 800x480.
has anyone got this to work, and if so, was there a trick to it?
On my old prime I used a micro HDMI adapter a HDMI cable then a HDMI to dvi and that worked. Not sure about the infinity though
Your monitor also has to support the resolution that the Infinity outputs at (1920x1080 60hz). I have two wide screen LCD Monitors and one supports this resolution and the other does not.
My dell support 1080p natively, and my samsung supports it via scaling. I have used the same cable and adapter to hook up my tegra 2 based phone running 2.3.4. It will output 1080p when playing back a 1080p movie using hardware acceleration. It works with both monitors. The TF700 does not. I'm wondering if maybe it's an ICS thing (or a TF700 version of ICS)
Hmm, did you try turning off the 3D output?

toggling 3d has no effect.
I read that if you leave the tablet on the 3d menu for a few seconds it will toggle the scaling mode on the external display. Again, the monitors just say "no signal".
The hdmi out to an hdmi device ( I tried a TV and a projector ) works great. It just doesn't work over DVI.
I have a theory that this is a HDCP issue. That my hdmi-dvi adapter doesn't support it. I've ordered a new cable that I understand does specifically support HDCP. I report back if it works.

Just so you know, the cable is blissfully ignorant of any HDCP being transferred over it since it's an end-to-end encryption. The two devices being connected together needs to be HDCP compliant, the cable just transfers the data, whether they're encrypted or not.
You're right that it might be a HDCP issue though, but I don't see how a cable can cause that (unless it's a bad cable, that is). HDCP incompatability (in lack of a better word) isn't all uncommon, sadly. HDCP is an abomination and should be killed, preferrably with lots of fire.

A different cable did not solve the problem. As I type this, I have my PS3 connected to my samsung (1920x1200 ) playing in slightly stretched 1080p mode using the same cable that I bought for the TF700.
the PS3 is undoubtedly enforcing HDCP. It plays games and movies at full resolution.
so, I think that's it. the TF700 just does not work over DVI.
Wasn't able to find confirmation elsewhere, so I thought I'd post here to let folks know: the HDMI to VGA dongle for the TF300 does, indeed, work with the Infinity. I haven't been able to test it with my projector, but it works with the monitor just fine. The dongle disables speaker output, but the headphone jack still works.

FYI, the less expensive CableMatters adapter does NOT work. Save your time and money.
I can confirmed that i ordered this product (from amazon too) and it worked on my Asus Zenbook UX31E & my Asus Infinity tablet
Can you confirm if it worked with your projector, and more details pls

Hi - I bought the same one, but it is not working with my TF700 I tried connecting it to a lenovo external desktop monitor, a VGA projector, and even a plasma tv with a VGA in - and none of them worked !
What configuration did you carry out? Are any tweaks to be done on the tablet itself?
Any details you can share will be appreciated !

Assuming you got the one I linked in my post, complete with the "Asus" logo, there are no settings: it's just plug-and-play. Could be you got stuck with a faulty adapter or (worse yet) a tablet with a faulty HDMI port. I'd try to RMA the adapter through Amazon and try a different one. If you get the same problem, sounds like your tablet might be the source of the difficulty.
I'm using this one ^ too and it's working fine for producing the right output on external monitor, but I'm not happy with it overall, as for some reason it LAGS the device, so the lagged output on a bigger screen is what I get with it...
Got a response from Asus and its more complicated now

Got a reply from Asus "Unlike a PC, Android on the tablet doesn't allow any resolution adjustments. So it'll be outputting 1920x1200. You didn't mention the make/model of the projector but you should check the available input range and check how this is handled, especially if it's not a full hd projector. Also check the projector settings and see what options are allowed for zoom/scaling the input."
So what they are saying is that this will only work with devices that support 1920x1200 as a resolution on VGA input. Can you confirm if your device does that, or does it have a max resolution which is less than this?
I checked my devices and both the plasma tv and the LCD projector are only capable upto SXGA (1280x1024) on the VGA interface. Now my questions revolve around the Asus MicroHD to VGA converter - does this only provide as an output what is the input? I noted that this works with the TF300 and TF200 as well - both of them are at 1280x800 - which means that this cable should be capable of outputting that signal... is there a way to make the cable downconvert to a static output of 1280x800? Or is it hardwired to output only what it receives as an input?
Asus is feeding you false information. It will not output the full resolution of the tablet no matter what you do.

I have never seen the crop or scale options on my tf700... not sure how any of you have seen that with a stock ROM. Here is the kick with a 1920x1200 monitor.... it will output 1920x1080! It will not allow you to output the entire desktop unless the monitor scales the image itself. Once it is scaling and you can see the system bar, now go into settings hdmi.. then hit back. You will see the image fill the horizontal resolution properly, but vertical is cropped and cuts off the system bar. In either mode, you will get 1080 on the vertical res.
I WISH it would output the full res with ANY HDMI monitor!! I have several monitors that are at the native res and none of them will allow you to display the screen properly. If anyone has any ideas how to force the hdmi res to the native res of the tablet, please let me know! This would solve an issue that I have been trying to fix or find a workaround to ever since the release of this tab.
The acer branded mini hdmi to vga adapter also works with the tf700

HI Guys,
I have a T428 from GeekBuying.com, I am having issues setting it up
1) I am unable to get my T428 to work using my nexus 4 as a wireless remote / keyboard have anyone managed to do it? (I tried a few applications but no luck)
2) Some movie playback is stuttering / buffering a lot, do anyone get this issue? (mainly 720p MKV's over 3GB)
3) I am looking for a 5 volt / 2amp UK plug... (My last android device shorted out when the 2pin plug got knocked while in the adapter) Nokia and Samsung phone ones are 5V but only 0.5amp causing the T428 to reboot at random
4) I noticed you cannot just use any micro usb cable to power the device, some seem 0.5ml too small and it it slips out (Stock cable is too short) best one that fits I have found so far was in Poundland but that is also quite short, it add about 6" and I need 18 - 24"
Thanks !

it is hard getting a 2amp power supply i feel you there i couldnt even boot my mk808 for the first 2 days due to not having
a. power capable cable
b. power capable plug adaptor
in the end i had to Frankenstein a power source using a nexus 7 plug and a sony camera usb cable.
the easiest option may be to go to argos or whatever store you have near you and get one of those multi-voltage chargers with mutil-point adaptors, at least then you can power any future device to whatever power it needs.
or just go amazon or a 2amp usb plug http://www.amazon.co.uk/Universal-Suitable-Smartphones-Portable-consoles/dp/B00270GAMS
thinking of getting one soon because im likely to buy more tv sticks in the future.
im still stumped that the mk808 came with jellybean but was flash compatible out of the box .
Thanks for the reply.... ordered the Amazon plug for £12
Tronsmart T428 does not start
Hey guys,
I ordered and received the Tronsmart T428 through geekbuying.com. I have problems getting it to work however. Can you please suggest a resolution?
Below are the steps I followed:
1. Connected the micro-usb to the wall-adapter, and the adapter to an electric socket. So, I see a red-light on the Tronsmart.
2. Connected the Tronsmart to a HDMI input on my TV (Sharp Aquos 42" 720p HDTV) and selected the appropriate input from the TV settings.
However, nothing shows up on my TV besides a message "An incompatible video signal has been received. Check the output device settings." and the whole screen is blank. I confirmed that the HDMI input on my TV works if my laptop is project on it... so the TV port works.
Then I connected the Tronsmart to my laptop (Windows 7) via the USB, it finds the drivers and shows 5.66 GB free out of 5.76 GB. Also, I see that it only contains 13 empty folders! Is it because the device is not rooted, and that there isn't sufficient permissions to view the files? Or is it that it shipped with nothing installed on the device?
At this point, I don't know if the device is defective or I am missing some step. I have emailed the customer-service and am yet to receive an answer. Has anyone come across this issue? Could anyone please guide me?
Thanks much!
Adi
Hmmm......Sounds like a defective power supply may have corrupted to stcik.....I would send back ASAP.......

It is possible that the resolution is set to 1080p. Try connecting your device to a TV with Full HD display (1080p). Then change the resolution in the settings to 720p. Had the same issue with my MK808B.

Yep, that did it. Thanks a bunch!
May be it should be pre-configured by the manufacturers for 720p out of the box, so it will work for everyone.. and then those with 1080p can change the settings.. just a thought. Thanks regardless.

Hi,
I've had the shield a while and I have been trying to start using the console mode, however when I use it on my LG 42" TV in the living room as soon as I go into console mode it has loads of graphical errors and this is due to it running at 1920x1082. So I thought I would try it on my Dell 2407WFP which can go up to 1920x1200, I had to purchase a DVI adapter for this to work, it works fine in both console mode and normal mode however the resolution is very low only 640x480, is this caused by HDCP at all? Or is there something else I can do to fix this, its really annoying me now.
Thanks in advance for any help

It's the cinema 3d LED TV, 42LM5800. It ran @ 1920x1080 (1080P) on both my LG and sharp TV. Yet to test my Vizio TV but I'm sure there wont be any problems there either. I'm betting it's probably the cable. I tried an offbrand one on my xbox 360 and it would only work on 720p, and even then the picture didn't look quite right. I switched it out with another cable and it bumped up to 1080, tried using the cheapo again and it wouldnt work at all on my 360 at that point, however it did work just fine on my wife's laptop. I also had a cheapo for my acer a100 tab, and it worked for a couple weeks then just crapped out on me. If you could i would try finding another HDMI cable to use and eliminate the possibility of it being the one you bought.
When you plug in your HDMI cables does your shield recognize it and attempt to switch to console mode?
Sorry for OT guys, but I need to ask and don't want to start a new thread for this sole reason.
I am willing to buy the Shield and use it as an android living room PC, connected via HDMI to a 40" 1080p TV. When I connect the devices, will the Shield output in 1080p a will it basically mirror the screen onto the TV? Because that's what I want - mirroring the device on a 1080p TV.
Thanks

Hi guys
I never used my 700T Tab S on the TV. Id like to try it.
My TV is also Samsung.
Are the cables all basically the same, or do some allow the tablet to display better than others on the TV?
What about OEM Samsung HDMI cables?
Thanks!!
I have mine hooked up with a Third party HDMI cable as you can see on the Dell 23" monitor with no issues on my T800 Tab S 10.5....
I am also using the Samsung HDTV smart adapter.
To connect a Galaxy Tab S to an HDMI monitor you'll need an MHL 2.0 adaptor and the original Samsung ET-H10FAUW does the job perfectly.
In my experience I would beware cheap clones or Samsung branded fakes, the Samsung ET-H10 hooks to any monitor instantly up to 1080p 60fps, while others I've tried take up to 1 minute, don't work with an optimal resolution and must be always connected with a power source.
Can the Tab S power higher resolutions on an external display, say it's native resolution or 4k?
