Is the camera lens part of the back cover View attachment 1052452
This picture sucks.
Thought I would ask someone that has one
Also what is involved to change cover out

If it have a glass that yes, or you can buy a camera replacement on ebay for 12$ something. There is a risk.
If the scratch isn't that bad, and you have it around, I'd try a tiny (mustard seed sized) amount of headlight lens restorer and some circular motions.
Failing that, I would say there's a good chance the lens is part of the back cover like you think.
Don't know its a friends kid had in a otter box took it out for some dumb reason seconds later fumbled it here I am asking questions.
Could someone tell if it needs a new camera or just the back cover?.

i'm sure it has, it's a whole back housing, when you take the old housing off , the whole camera housing comes off also , leaving just the camera ship under but just to make sure send them an email.
What's involved to do this minor or major surgery

Hi everyone recently I noticed a spot on my pictures when I take them with my phone I thought its a spec or a piece of dirt so I took the back cover off and opens the camera cover and cleaned every thing but I still have that spot like it appears in this photo any help. I never dis assembeled my phone so it can't be a scratch.

How long have you had the phone, reason being is that you said you "recently noticed". Also, you said you cleaned the the camera cover, did you check the lens as well?
yes i cleaned the lens with lens cleaner and micro fiber , i also opened the camera cover and pulled the cam out and cleaned it and made sure no specs, i had the phone since it was first brought to t-mobile in April, its so confusing me i checked every thing could it be a damage to the sensor.
Not sure. Did you try a pic without the back cover on, even though you cleaned it?
Yes those pics are without any thing between the can lens an the paper no back cover no camera cover. And also I can't find a replacement online I can't even find a broken g2x to buy to get its camera I am desperate

I can supply you with a pn# for the camera if it helps.
Hey guys, I had a question about the front camera on the One X.
I have mine, and it seems that the camera & glass is recessed inside of the casing about 2mm. I was wondering if it's supposed to be this way or not? Its quite a deep recess, its impossible for me to clean dust off the lens without using something like a toothpick because it is so deep and small. So I'm just wondering if this is normal or not. Thanks
Normal. Mine is the same way.

Confirmed, same here.
Okay thanks, just had to make sure. Seems kind of strange since it makes it very difficult to clean
Lol I didn't wanna sound like a tweaker
But I tried cleaning it and it sucks
It's a bad design element for sure. I use what looks like a little makeup application brush to dust it out.
Yup. Only part of my phone that doesn't look brand new...

I think the point of it being recessed is so you DON'T have to clean it. Usually you get finger prints all over the lens and grease because most cameras are flush with the front....with this deisgn, the lens avoids that
You could always spray some computer cleaner/compressed air in there

Mine has been away for repair. I never noticed before, but although mine is recessed there appears to be nothing protecting the camera module. If I look from the side there is a small gap to the inside of the housing. Is this right?? I suspect the repair centre has screwed up and forgotten to put something in there. If I shoved something in there to clean it I would basically be cleaning the tiny lens of the camera.
Can anyone post a picture of what it's supposed to look like as I have nothing for comparison.
Also they (Regenesis) have left a gap in the seal between the top of the LCD panel and the bezel AND the original fault of a stuck pixel is fixed only to the extent that there is another stuck pixel elsewhere.
Am I within my rights to demand a brand new unit from HTC? I think it's unacceptable to be messed around like this, bearing in mind the expense of the unit. I also totally distrust the capabilities of Regenesis, based on this and my experience sending an HTC Sensation away for repair last year.
The small 1/2" by 1/3" or so plate fell off my battery cover. It's the piece that has "8M" on it and covers the lens. Looks easy enough to repair but I've never tried it on a phone. Should I just glue it back on? What would I use for that? Thanks.
I just super-glued it back on. No problems since.

I'd super glue it... I leave mine off and actually cut all the plastic off within the cameras area to make it look better and now I have no glare or sun flares in my pictures... the plasticy glass lens just makes it dirty and images greyed out.

PM me I have extras. I'll give you one.
Mine actually fell off today, i plan on super-glueing it also..

Appreciate it man, but I had the part, just wasn't sure how to re-attach. The superglue seems like it's working, though I could have cleaned it up a little better lol. At least nothing got on the camera lens
Hey,
I just noticed that the glass in front oft the camera is broken, has this happened to anyone else?

Hard to tell from the picture, but it looks like it basically split in half? Damn. That sucks. I was thinking about how that could happen earlier today.
Unfortunately I took a look for a few minutes for a replacement part, but it isn't part of the back cover, nor is it part of the actual camera assembly and I cannot seem to find it on its own.

When you take off the back plate and remove 7 Screws for the top half a camera lens assembly comes off heres the replacement

Refer to Youtube in the disassemble of nexus 5 and follow that but stop when they reach that part
Also the Back camera glass cover isn't gorilla glass or any sapphire glass like what Apple used its just a regular piece of glass (Source LG)
Yeah, I looked it up online, but it's a 30 dollar part. I was afraid of might be visible on pictures taken with the phone, but surprisingly it isn't.
I might just now buy a case, since I am getting pretty tired of the low durability of this phone. I never even dropped it but if I did I could imagine that it would just shatter into a thousand pieces

Fwiw, mine has the exact same crack!
Phone never dropped!
If you decide to fix it yourself and are successful, please take pictures along the way to help others with the issue and possibly make a guide. Or add to one if there is one already.

Get this
From my mobile telephony device.
Had the same problem, lens full crack
Went back to mediamarkt.
They charge €100 for repair
So went for some part on ebay.
I only bought the lens + case. Not the full frame.
Did the repair. No pics
But broke one clip of the back cover...
Then I found the lens case was constructed to the frame by some plastic rots that were melted. Had to mill those away. And used glue to replace the case.
It worked out wel. But next time I would go for the complete frame
Anyone else notice the cheap lens and how easily it scratches? I use a phone case 90 percent of the time yet my camera lens has multiple little scratches on it. I've never put my phone in a position to get scratches and I try to take care of it the best I can. It's mostly in my pocket when I leave the house. Also how good is the laser focus when it's lens has multiple little scratches?
Sent from my LG-D850 using XDA Free mobile app
I scratched my lens and laser focus as well but it works just as good as new for me. Pictures have no artifacts and it still focuses fast.
Ya I haven't noticed any major issues yet but this phone is still fairly new. If I haven't used no case at all where would I be sitting with damage on normal use?

I had the same issue. Only had it for a few days and it was already scratched to heck and it was making my pictures blurry. I was about to take my phone back. While searching to figure out if it was a common problem i found a thread on a htc m8 and a few people claimed it was a coating. I did what was suggested and used some toothpaste and a q-tip to rub it off. Then used some rubbing alcohol. I used to have some before and after picts but i can't find them. It worked great
Might have to try that out and see what happens. Thanks

If you do the toothpaste idea - make sure to pick a toothepaste that is a sensative kind.
Reason is toothepaste is an abrasive - certain kinds will actually end up scratching glass quite easily.
Back in HS I did a science experiment on it where I gathered vairous different toothepast brands/styles - got a piece of regular glass and marked off grids. Then I brushed the glass area twice a day for 2 weeks. Crest is the MOST abrassive of them all. By the end of the experiment - that square was completed scratched to hell.
Thanks for the heads up!

Tried toothpaste and it didnt work for me. Any other tips?
Takes quite a bit of rubbing, honestly. I was doing it for a few min and could gradually see a difference. You might have some real scratches then but my glass is pretty solid/scratch free after a few months in pretty harsh environments also.
If you look in the attachment you can still see some of the coating around the edges but it doesn't effect the pictures. I can't get a good enough picture of the cleanliness of the center though
Honestly at this point and age of these phones we shouldn't even have to be worrying about this problem. Need that gorilla glass over it or the Sapphire glass.
