LG G2X camera issue - T-Mobile LG G2x

Hi everyone recently I noticed a spot on my pictures when I take them with my phone I thought its a spec or a piece of dirt so I took the back cover off and opens the camera cover and cleaned every thing but I still have that spot like it appears in this photo any help. I never dis assembeled my phone so it can't be a scratch.

How long have you had the phone, reason being is that you said you "recently noticed". Also, you said you cleaned the the camera cover, did you check the lens as well?

yes i cleaned the lens with lens cleaner and micro fiber , i also opened the camera cover and pulled the cam out and cleaned it and made sure no specs, i had the phone since it was first brought to t-mobile in April, its so confusing me i checked every thing could it be a damage to the sensor.

Not sure. Did you try a pic without the back cover on, even though you cleaned it?

Yes those pics are without any thing between the can lens an the paper no back cover no camera cover. And also I can't find a replacement online I can't even find a broken g2x to buy to get its camera I am desperate

Wow! Camera glass scratches super easy.

I was putting my battery cover back on today and the battery cover touched the camera lens pretty lightly and left a scratch! I don't think this cam will last with daily pocket carrying.
the back casing is made of metal you know....
that kinda sucks. does it show up in pictures?
You might just luck out.
That's the exact reason i went out and got the body glove case. I noticed the camara lens wash just about flush with phone and wanted some thing that was raised away from it. Mine hasent scratched and glad.

Mine looks slightly scratched under the light :S (I was using the phone for a few weeks before i got a silicon case). Fortunately I can't notice it in photos
Yeah I can't see it on pics. But it is no where near as scratch resistant as the screen. I would guess keys would do a number to t his screen.
Why don't they make a cover for the lens? I truly don't need a cover for the usb, never had it for previous phones and their usb ports still work. Gimmick.
The whole industrial design on the captivate is so whack. I hope ATT guys are reading this thread but that's probably not going to happen.
I wonder how many ATT guys wish they had the Tmobile version with the nice ridge on the back at the bottom that actually let you grip the phone properly when you press the softkeys.

Will this fix a Scratched camera lens

Is the camera lens part of the back cover View attachment 1052452
This picture sucks.
Thought I would ask someone that has one
Also what is involved to change cover out

If it have a glass that yes, or you can buy a camera replacement on ebay for 12$ something. There is a risk.
If the scratch isn't that bad, and you have it around, I'd try a tiny (mustard seed sized) amount of headlight lens restorer and some circular motions.
Failing that, I would say there's a good chance the lens is part of the back cover like you think.
Don't know its a friends kid had in a otter box took it out for some dumb reason seconds later fumbled it here I am asking questions.
Could someone tell if it needs a new camera or just the back cover?.

i'm sure it has, it's a whole back housing, when you take the old housing off , the whole camera housing comes off also , leaving just the camera ship under but just to make sure send them an email.
What's involved to do this minor or major surgery

Broken camera glass

Hey,
I just noticed that the glass in front oft the camera is broken, has this happened to anyone else?

Hard to tell from the picture, but it looks like it basically split in half? Damn. That sucks. I was thinking about how that could happen earlier today.
Unfortunately I took a look for a few minutes for a replacement part, but it isn't part of the back cover, nor is it part of the actual camera assembly and I cannot seem to find it on its own.

When you take off the back plate and remove 7 Screws for the top half a camera lens assembly comes off heres the replacement

Refer to Youtube in the disassemble of nexus 5 and follow that but stop when they reach that part
Also the Back camera glass cover isn't gorilla glass or any sapphire glass like what Apple used its just a regular piece of glass (Source LG)
Yeah, I looked it up online, but it's a 30 dollar part. I was afraid of might be visible on pictures taken with the phone, but surprisingly it isn't.
I might just now buy a case, since I am getting pretty tired of the low durability of this phone. I never even dropped it but if I did I could imagine that it would just shatter into a thousand pieces

Fwiw, mine has the exact same crack!
Phone never dropped!
If you decide to fix it yourself and are successful, please take pictures along the way to help others with the issue and possibly make a guide. Or add to one if there is one already.

Get this
From my mobile telephony device.
Had the same problem, lens full crack
Went back to mediamarkt.
They charge €100 for repair
So went for some part on ebay.
I only bought the lens + case. Not the full frame.
Did the repair. No pics
But broke one clip of the back cover...
Then I found the lens case was constructed to the frame by some plastic rots that were melted. Had to mill those away. And used glue to replace the case.
It worked out wel. But next time I would go for the complete frame

Bad picture quality because of camera lens!

Has anyone else seen this? My camera quality slowly got worse and worse. I went to get my phone replaced under warranty and got hassled around because of the known hairline back that happens around the microphone port so I decided to take the lens off. It takes perfect pics now. I'm very gentle with my phones. It's in perfect condition so I don't even understand how the lens got this way. Bought a new one on ebay for $4 and will replace it myself. Here's what my pics look like.. One is the front camera and the horrible looking one is the rear camera.
When you say camera lens, are you talking about the protective plastic piece? That's not a lens, it's just a piece of protection stuck on like the plastic cover found on your screen when unboxing. The actual camera lens is glass and would be tough to scratch.

No... I understand.... Protective plastic was removed a LONG time ago. My photos appear cloudy as well, and slowly getting worse. if I look at the lens it looks like it's got a sheen over it and no matter what I do I can't rub it off I can't clean it off. What do I want for a buck though I guess.... right? Dollar phone.
I was able to clean the sheen off with some tooth paste, q-tip then some alcohol to shine it up. Works great now, no scratches
My bro's Verizon model doesn't have the coating. Maybe it was a mistake during assembly, didn't get cleaned off at the right time.

Camera blurry/won't focus

I cracked the protective glass on my camera and replaced it. Now the pictures are blurry and won't focus unless I'm up close. I researched a lot with no solution. No one seems to know how to fix this. I think maybe the auto focus hardware is damaged? Or maybe I need to replace the actual lense itself? Any help would be greatly appreciated because I hate not having a camera.
I feared this. Haha. No ideas?
I would suggest to replace the actual lens. Not sure of any quick fixes

Thanks bud. I just ordered a new camera, frame bezel (because mines chipped up) and toolkit to take the phone apart. Once I rebuild the phone I'll report back.
Ok just rebuilt the phone and I'm posting from it so it was a success. Cost me about 30 bucks on ebay but I got all the parts I need and a new camera. Camera is crisp and clear but the speaker in the new bezel I got was bad so I had to take the phone apart again (which was way easier than the first time) and swapped the speakers and my phone is %100 percent again. Long story somewhat short, if I used my GOOD case I would have never had to do any of this. But if you break your camera glass, DO NOT take the glass out until you have the replacement glass and when you do take the broken pieces out do it carefully and don't touch, press on or try to clean the lense. Hope this helps someone! I know it would have helped me.
