[Q] changing sd card on rooted wildfire(android)

hello there.I have a rooted(unrevoked) htc wildfire with a 2gb sd card.I want to change the 2gb card with a 8gb one.I have several questions about this:
1)Does unrevoked have anything to do with my sd card,i mean if i change the sd card will i have to root it again or will i somehow brick my wildfire?I dont really know how i rooted it...i just connected my htc with my pc and ran unrevoked...i remember i didnt do anything i just let it that way and after several reboots it was good to go.(is there unrevoked documentation available...for example i need to know what an hboot is...)
2)my 8gb sd card is formatted as FAT32...what types of format does android 2.1 support?and which is the best?
3)and one more dump question...will using a higher capacity sd card make my phone run slower than before...?although i think i already know the answer
thanks in advance

Not at all. I have moved over from the Desire and had ext 3 on my card due to the lack of space on the desire. On my Sensation i have more app's installed (Well over 100 installed) than i had on my Desire and still have 617MB left.

[Q] sd-ext portion not working on some ROMS

i partitioned my sd card to get more memory for internal storage, but it doesnt show more memory at all, there was only one custom ROM that it actually works on but the ROM crashes alot, i wanna know how to make it work on any ROM because i barely have any internal memory on my Nexus One. can anyone help? i know it probably sounds dumb, but i really need more internal memory, i tried partitioning my sd card times already, it still doesnt work.
I'm not familiar with how it works on your phone, but usually if the rom doesn't have it built-in, you have to flash something to allow moving apps to your ext partition.
You may want to check your device's forum, I'm sure the answer is there somewhere.

To make sure you partitioned your SD Card correctly go HERE at STEP FIVE - Partitioning Your Sd Card With Gparted (it's a htc desire tutorial, but it doesn't matter). Create the fat32 partition and after that create a 1 GB ext4 partition (it should be enough).
Than go HERE where you have a MIUI ROM, it's fast and looks good and it has data 2 ext and it updates regularly, and i suggest installing the MIUI-NX | 1.8.26 | D2EXT | STABLE. Just flash the ROM and that's it.
After this, read everything from the Nexus One Android Development, i noticed that OxygeN ROM also has data2sd, only with it i think you have to flash a script after flashing the OxygeN ROM.
Also before you start don't forget to do a nandroid backup (i would suggest even using ROM Manager to do the backup as it is very simple to copy the backup on your PC)

How best to partition the sd-card?

Hey guys, I hope someone can help me with this little problem.
I got a new Samsung 32gb sd-card for my Sensation.
My rom is currently InsertCoin with ICS and I'm using the "4EXT Recovery Touch".
So now is the question how to partition the sd-card? One EXT or two? What is the advantage of two EXT's?
And do I need Swap?
The last time I need Swap was on my HTC Dream That's a long time ago.
Is it usefull on the Sensation?
How is your sd-card partitioned?
I would be very pleased about some answers!!!
No need for ext partitions. 32gb fat32 will do
Sent from my HTC Sensation using XDA App
and what about Apps2SD?
My internal storage is nearly full and i have not many apps on the phone, so i think an EXT could be very usefull for that, e.g. for games

formatting SD card for particular ROM

Hi All
I'm looking to install this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2234221 on to my galaxy ace and have a question about formatting the SD card for it.
It talks about ext-4 partition and I was wondering what size to format the partition if using an 8gb card?
I was thinking - 1gb for the ext-4 and the rest for fat32?
halp please
What class is your sdcard? Are you planning to use int2sd?

You must used the Fire Kernel because you don't have a 4Ext partition
and with Swap kernel and a Sdcard Class 6, you need a 4Ext partition.
So finally, it will depend of the choice of your kernel, and the better choice if you use the Swap kernel, it's to format all in 4Ext
And if you want an another answer, go to post here, you can do without problem

I am going to get a class 10 8gb card this weekend. the swap kernel is what I was going to use.
Why should I format the whole card in 4ext? If I do that, I won't be able to add files from my windows 7 PC will I??? I just don't know much about ext4. I do store some music and stuff on it.
Thanks so much for your help

Which recovery do you use ?
I wrote a mistake about to format whole sdard to 4Ext
1 - You must have 1 Fat32 partition and 1 EXT4 partition on your sdcard
2 - If you rather use a computer for creating and formatting partitions keep in mind that both partitions must be primary partitions (not logical)
3 - The recommended size of your EXT4 partition is depending on how many roms and apps you are going to install.. 512M is the minimal size
Go to one of the links that I've wrote above and sent your question.
