I read an article about the Plum Mobile Might. It's a knock-off Galaxy Note that is going to be released.
It has:
5 inch display
2,800mAh battery
5 megapixel camera with flash and a VGA on the front
650MHz processor
Dual SIM capabilities
And is running Android 2.3.6
Besides the processor, the specs aren't that bad at all. And for a proposed price tag of $180, it's looking even better.
To read more and check out some pictures of the device, go to Engadget

Agreed. You can buy a Nexus S for that much, and that runs ICS officially, and is faster than a lot of early dual core phones. Hell, you can get an Evo 3D for $180 nowadays.

Over clocking is always an option. This gives a chance for everyone to be able to afford a decent android phone without paying the big bucks.

I agree. But those are CDMA phones which are always cheaper. If it had a better processor, I'd buy it just to try it out.

Wouldn't it be more nattery power efficient with its lower powered processor?

Okay, I've been researching my next phone for the last couple days found the LG Nitro HD. It has the IPS display 720P screen which I love, the only thing is half the reviews state that it has a dual core TI OMAP 4460 processor clocked at 1.5GHz and half of the other reviews states it has the Snapdragon S3. Does anybody know exactly what kind of processor it runs?
I really wish it comes with the 4460 (same one as the Galaxy Nexus). I had a T-Mobile GS2 and it felt laggy with the Snapdragon and I don't want another Snapdragon powered phone.
Also a lot of reviews state is has 1GB of ram and some say it has 768mb? Man is this phone really that much of a mystery?
APQ8060 (S3).
Horrible phone, by the way. Go with something else.

From Cnet news,
SGSIII: 1.5ghz quad core exynos, 1080p 4.8" 16:9 screen, ICS, 8MP cam, LTE, ceramic body
Cnet article
wow i want it so baddddddd
Jaw dropping specs. Hopefully the report is accurate.
Read comments says 1080p is overkill on a smart phone display.
Well duh, can they not picture people attaching their smartphones to a HD TV or projector?
I think I am just sticking with Google devices from now on, if Samsung makes it or HTC (rumor). I am sick of the slow upgrade cycle; on ICS has been out almost 4 months..... way too slow.
How would they manage that kind of ppi?
That's like 459ppi. Galaxy Nexus is like 316ppi.

Being able to output 1080p via hdmi and actually having a 1080p screen are two different things. I do think that sort of pixel density is overkill and serves only to overwork the gpu.
I also think I prefer 16:10 to 16:9.

"a bit" is both right and ambiguous. They repost articles from sites that repost articles from other sites. At least they usually point out things that sound too good to be true.
http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/10/details-on-the-samsung-galaxy-s-iii-leak-out-1-8ghz-dual-core-c/
Only mentions that it will be a Super AMOLED Plus HD display, which makes me think (meaning I am just making a random guess) it's a nonpentile display like the Nexus, and so it would be 720, which is still awesome. I wouldn't mind being wrong, but it just seems like we would have heard about a break through in OLED tech before the specs were released.
I heard google isnt going to be updating like usual anymore. Like their releasing their next updates to more phones rather than their nexus line. I mean this for next gen though.

All i need in a galaxy s 3:
-Quad Core Exynos @ 1.5GHz (LTE CAPABLE DAMMIT)
-1280x720 Super AMOLED Plus HD @ 1.65"
-Sexy Body < 9mm Thin
-2000mAh+ Battery
-LTE
-ICS
-8MP Camera (although 12 would be nice, but an improved 8MP is all i need)
That's pretty much it
Sounds amazing. I think Qualcomm has a lot of LTE licensing control in the US. Don't be surprised at the last minute the 1.5 ghz Quad Exynos is replaced by 1.7ghz Quad Snapdragon that runs 1/2 the speed.
---------- Post added at 08:57 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:48 PM ----------
I think my Skyrocket is good enough to keep me happy for 18 more months. And at that time, imagine what amazing tech we'll be able to get when it'll be time to renew.

I meant to say betanews, as that's where I read the article from, but it seems he too is quoting bgr, which, as u said is about as reliable as the national inquirer. If indeed these specs r tru that would be great, but on further investigation the exynos Chooser was only just recently been demoed to the public, let alone shipped with any Samsung devices, As the s3 has been in Dev for awhile, I'm more skeptical now. I honestly think it will still be a dual core exynos. U could always jump ship and get an HTC One X

<Rant> I would sell my skyrocket in a heartbeat for a phone that was even 80% as good but with a physical keyboard. Don't get me wrong, I luv my skyrocket, but texting and emails on ANY touchscreen is still cumbersome at best. Touchscreen intuitive with added keyboard is still the way to go in my opinion. This isn't a niche market, if a respectable manufacturer came out with something recent, people would flock to it as a viable alternative to crapberrys </Rant>
this is THE device that i am waiting on......the note will hold me over till the SGSIII is dropped. and i WILL be getting it. im hoping that they can keep the exynos though, but for some reason i doubt it.
either way it should be a beast of a device for the end users. im hoping by years end this device will be available to us.
keeps fingers crossed.
I wanna see how the Exynos matches the krait quad core before wasting more money.

Yeah, it depends how much you mean by "cheap." It also depends on your carrier. The cheapest one is probably the Samsung Galaxy SII; it's $99.99 on Sprint with the 2 year contract. It was released with Gingerbread, but I think it was updated to Ice Cream Sandwich.

Also, I think you only get a gig of RAM once the CPU is dual core, otherwise the highest is 768 on phones like the MT4G (glacier) and the HTC Inspire, Thunderbolt
So if we took your minimum clock speed, then it would never match up with your minimum RAM requirement.

According to this it's in testing. The Japanese article says it's using a 1.7GHz Teg3 SoC with Nvidia's Icera i410 LTE baseband chip. It's shown up on GLBenchmark as:
android.os.Build.FINGERPRINT - cingular_us/evitareul/evitareul:4.0.4/IMM76D/83349.1:user/release-keys
android.os.Build.MODEL - HTC PM63100
android.os.Build.DEVICE - evitareul
So whatever it ends up being, something that's not the current One X "Evita" but is a relative in some way is being tested and is destined for AT&T. If it has 32GB of storage and 2GB of RAM it would certainly be able to take on the S4 SGS3 as AT&T's flagship. It would also be the first and only quad-core LTE phone in the U.S. I wonder if it will eventually be a global product or if it's just intended for AT&T? Interesting stuff.

I saw that as well and nearly punched someone because I JUST bought the S4 One X. However, if this is the same Tegra 3 that is in the International One X, just with LTE compatibility, then I'll keep my S4 One X. It took me a while to accept that quad-core isn't necessarily better than dual-core and it's my understanding that they are more or less comparable (besides maybe gaming, but I spend absolutely no time gaming on my phone).

The S4 is a far more modern and efficient chip than Teg3 which was a pretty Frankenstein way for Nvidia to be first to market with a next-gen SoC. But since the general public doesn't even know what a SoC is or does, having "four" of something will appear better than having "two." And HTC and/or AT&T would be idiots if they didn't make a big deal about having the first quad-core phone in the U.S.; whether it's actually "better" or not. That could mean even more if the iP5 ends up with a quad-core A6 as speculated. You know Apple's going to play up quad-core big time if that's the case. Also, with the shortage of S4 chips available, introducing a Teg3/Icera phone might be more driven by SoC availability than improving performance. It hasn’t shown up at the FCC so whatever it is, it’s not around the corner.
Since when was it decided that the sgs3 is AT&T's flagship device? It's still the One X in my opinion.

I don't want the Tegra 3 with LTE, I want the quad core Snapdragon S4 with LTE. At the least, however, the quad core should only have additional power drain from two cores running, not from either needing another chip for LTE or some other arcane issue like that.

This.
Though I'm not a banker by occupation, I invest and follow the stock markets closely, especially in the tech industries and HTC has been taking a beating recently. Part of it was the injunction dished out which caused the HOX ban, but revenues have been down by a lot and they've just been blasted out of the water by Samsung. I'm not saying the HOX suck, because I'm not--I think it's better than the S3 (personal preference, of course), but whether it's bad planning, bad marketing, bad implementation, whatever: it's clear that the HOX is struggling against the S3 and HTC isn't doing that well.
With that said, with all the hype around moar cores! gimme moar cores!, if HTC really can muster out a quad-core and hype it up enough, it would be wondrous.
The Tegra 3 HTC One X is terrible compared to my HTC One XL, I live in the UK and thank god a seller was selling the HTC One XL (Telsra) here.
The heat on the Tegra 3 is ridiculous, plus having a higher clock and LTE is gonna kill that phone faster. Not to mention the battery life is already sh*t on the Tegra 3 ver.

Pretty much this. Plus in all benchmark tests the S4 version of the One X outperformed the Tegra3 version hands down. The marketing for the quadcore is just a marketing gimmick. At least for smartphones, more cores doesn't not equal better/faster.

im quite angry at asus for issues with my TF700, how they supply the tools to void your warranty on a bootloader thats unfixable with any means so that they can charge people to reflash the bootloaders... it makes me angry that theyd do this...
i really liked the features of this tablet.. 1080P+ screen, tegra 3 processor, great cameras with flash... but now im just really disappointed, and i want something thatll actually allow me to work with custom roms, i wanted to get all of the useless nonsense off my tablet, strip it down to the features i only cares about and not have tons of bloatware...
are there any tablets of equal performance and hardware features that is more friendly towards this?
the acer A700 looked nice but i really like the LED flash, makes great pictures even better, and i used it as a flashlight too
i see googles coming out with a nexus 10, but since these are made by asus i have a feeling theyre going to have the same problems, also, i dont believe its a tegra 3 processor?
what would your recommendations be?

There's a catch. Cyanogenmod dropped official support for all Exynos CPUs, but that shouldn't be a problem because it's a Nexus device, so you should expect a ridiculous amount of development and plenty of unofficial CM
