Modems :) - Samsung Infuse 4G

I came across this while looking for an old modem I used to run. I thought maybe the rest of you guys may want to give some modems a go.
Link: http://www.veyka.co.uk/radios/
NOTE: Not all are infuse compatible but some indeed are, its trial and error folks. Just thought I'd post it for the convenience of the rest of the community.
sideNOTE: Try running a speed test to make sure modem switch was successful, upon my testing, it seems as if some modems would not change the text in the system settings, but speedtest says otherwise good luck!
ENJOY, and by all mean share and post about your findings I may eventually compile a list of all the compatible modems that can be found from this bigger list.

Nice find....we could of added it to this thread...is there added work or files required to accomplish this for the infuse?

I almost get fully successful flashes, just almost so it is missing something just need to find what.

If the modem is made for bml (pre 4.2) then the modem file has to be padded to work on 4.2 roms. I outlined that in the thread.

[Q] Is there anyone running a "custom built" version of CM7 that they could share?
Hi all...
I would like to try a CM7 ROM on my Infuse but I am in no way too technical to make my own from source so...
I am wondering if there is anyone here who has built a nice CM7 from source that could maybe share so I can give it a go???
I hope this is not too much to ask and I thank you in advance...

If you look through the cm7 thread a few users have posted it. Just that others hate when they do so they discourage it on that thread because they don't want extra bug reports.

No its not that he does not want it posted on that thread, he does not want it posted at all until it is finished.
If you look at other rom threads there are tons of questions that should not have been there. What he is doing is like a semi private beta, it will help fix problems faster without having to answer simple questions. Things like who do I flash this, will it work with this kernel, and such.
Now I am not saying that its not on the web but you will have to find it and not ask for a link.
I dedicated a virtual machine to building CM7, so I can pull from the source rep and do a snapshot build pretty much anytime.
Problem is that we are not supposed to share it. LinuxBozo posted somewhere why this restriction, but I don't recall the link. Maybe someone could remind what the url to that post is.

People, if you want to share your own builds, I can't stop you. Hell, I don't even really care. I just ask if you do share, don't post them in the original thread, and make sure that whoever you are sharing with understands that this is currently not finished, has issues (especially with BT right now), and that unless they know what 'dmesg' and 'logcat' are, they will get absolutely no support from me and are on their own.

You guys have to understand from his point of view. Do u know how many questions or post saying things need to get fixed would pop up the whole reason around building your own from source is that if you can do that you should be able to put out questions and answer that help instead of simple or complex things that have being covered if you have the basic understanding and you can actually help with issues address them correctly ina Manet that helps fix it than its easier to get things sorted out before a release. So he doesn't want them in the original thread. I would suggest if you can find someone to share it since you have the approval now have them pm you not share it over the thread or any other thread and don't share it your self so it doesn't cause the other thread or any other to get cramped with questions that can or can't be answered. So if you get it keep it to yourself to help with that factor

ok, so given that it is better not to post links to home-brew builds on these forums, I figured to put mine here:
http://tools.1url.ws/cm7infuse.php
for who's craving to run CM7 on their infuse, and doesn't have the time/setup/etc. to build it on his own.
All the warnings, disclaimers, etc. stand of course. No support provided, no guarantee I'll build more in the future. As time allows every few days I plan to grab the latest sources and do a new build to post it there.
At this time I'm using the 10/12/2011 build, and aside from the known issues, works pretty well for me. But then again, you might end up having a totally different experience.

*****NOT A CWM FLASHABLE ZIP*******
I tried to make a rom based off ACS-ICS v2, because my GPS was working.
However something in the rom still is off. I had no GPS. My Nandroid backup however restored my GPS.
So here is my first attempt at a Rom/Nandroid:
Based of of ACS-ICS - marcusant
-Official 2.3.5
-No CiQ (k0nane)
-Rooted
-EXT4
-IAP's EI22 Kernel* Basic OC/UV to 1200* (earthbound[iap] )
-DeOdexed (xBTx)
-Juwe RAM Tweak (Juwe11)
-3G TurboCharger (zeppelinrox)
I added:
•SGS4G Adrenaline Shot (Dsexton702)
•ASOP Sytle Lock Screen (ICS Themed to match ACS ICS Rom)
•ACS ICS Launcher 4.0
•LogProvider Fix
•AppWidget Picker
My appoligies to anyone I forgot.
If this works to get the GPS going for some,
Hopefully we can use it to figure out why ACS ICS kills the GPS.
Thanks bodi524

Correct me if i'm wrong but, I expect it's a Nandroid backup that may need to be extract into your CWM backup file and you just have to do a restore of it in CWM. I'd be sure to make a nandroid of your current rom before applying any other rom.
Working great for me no issues...thank you

Semantics. It's this attitude that sends new users, that could be of benefit in the future, running away from development.

Geez. You didn't have to change the title to delete. I kinda fell bad that everybody was bashing on you now. I am perfectly fine with you branching off and starting your own rom... I have nothing against it because you gave proper credit. I didn't mean to sound mean or anything like that... All work should be shared and different people like different things. Anyways, I also suggest that you learn how to extract a nandroid or create a rom without one.

Making a cwm flashable is easy. There are many tutorials/how-tos out there. I could've made a number of "roms," but everytime I wanted to put something out I always realized that it wasn't development. I dont remember where I heard this but someone said that development isn't deleting apk's theming and calling it a rom.

The first rom I posted was an early branch off of another popular rom. Despite clarifying my intentions, stating my immaturity, and giving all due credit, a mod deleted my thread without warning. Rather annoying, since the toughest part of doing all this was assembling a clear and informative thread.
I have since moved the majority of my information and all my download links to a separate site, courtesy of another less whiny forum.
While I cannot condone if someone were to rip off an entire rom and claim the work to be all their own, I also cannot condemn an effort by someone attempting to learn and share.
Android is, after all, open source.
Unfortunately, XDA is a tough crowd. You'll want to be a little more prepared before you launch a Rom thread if you're not ready for the backlash.

If you're really serious about taking apart the S3 rom get ahold of dsixda's kitchen and learn how to use it. It'll let you do most of what you need such as extracting system apps from ext4 image, deodexing apks, etc.
The learning curve is steep, and Google is your friend. It's all been done before and documented in various xda threads, just search them out. And good luck.

[INFO] Why we don't have ICS yet + more info about it

Hi, I have noticed a ton of people curious about why AT&T people do not have ICS yet, so I thought I would answer that once and for all. I admit that I and others have gotten a little mad whenever people ask about this, but it seems they are not able to really find a clear answer, so here it is.
If you feel like this is well done, please sticky it at least until we get it all figured out.
I figure this would be best said i a Q and A type form.
Q: What is ICS, and why does everyone want it so bad?
ICS or "Ice Cream Sandwich" is android version 4.0.x. the next version, 4.1 Jellybean was just released as a slightly less important update, but ICS brought huge changes from Ginger Bread (2.3.x) the previous phone version (3.x HoneyComb was tablet only). ICS brings a slicker, darker, and better looking user interface, as well as many performance enhancements. Most of us want it more because it seems like we should than because it is actually that much better. That said it is still a great update, and most people will be happy to see it.
Click to collapse
Q: Why is it so hard to get ICS for our phone, while others have it even though it is not officially out?
The main reason is our locked bootloader. That means it is not possible to flash or boot a custom kernel unless it is signed with Motorola's key. That is obviously impossible.
Click to collapse
Q: What is a kernel?
the kernel is a major part of any operating system. you can think of it as a sort of layer between hardware and software. It is the part of an OS that communicates directly with a device's hardware. Android is based off the open source Linux kernel, meaning it is free for anybody to build and modify. However, Motorola has only released the source for the ME865, and partially for the MB865, meaning we can't really build a kernel anyways. Then of course, even if we could build one, we wouldn't be able to boot it with our locked bootloader.
ICS is not really complete without the newer kernel that goes with it

What is Kexec, and is there any way to unlock the bootloader
The fact that I grouped these together would probably lead you to correctly believe they are related. Lets start with the second half. Simply put, NO. I hate to say it, but there is very little hope of EVER unlocking our bootloader, unless Motorola decides to do something like HTC did and allow unlocking.
Kexec is a method of hot switching kernels while still booted. It is actually just a linux tool that you can use on a computer, but it has been built for android essentially allowing you to bypass the bootloader. Theoretically it would be an easy way to run custom kernels. Then why don't we? Well a few reasons. One, we can't really get one built to begin with, especially because, at least to my knowledge, jimbridgman is the only one who actually knows what he is doing with kernel building, and he is only half here now that he got his fany new SGS3. Two, it does not work great. I am not sure the latest version is working at all on our phone, and even if it did, only one processor comes up, meaning it is really slow.
Click to collapse
Q: What's the deal with these Droid 3 builds that supposedly boot?
Some people managed to build ICS for the droid 3 based of a 2.3.6 kernel. that means you can boot it on a stock GB kernel, and therefore you do not need to unlock the bootloader. Unfortunately that means it is not totally ICS, but it is still pretty good. Of course they are for a cdma phone, so that means no data, no calls, and no gps, making it kind of useless.
I am not going to give a link to them, but if you are really interested go search around. any of the Droid 3 AOKP and CM9 builds will boot just fine. Find more info in the dev section, but please don't start a thread asking about it.
We have been trying to port these to work for us, but that is proving more difficult than expected, and with ICS just around the corner, I don't want to put time into it. I do think it is possible, and if you are a dev looking to give it a shot, PM me and I will tell you all I know, and try to help out as much as I can.

Nice post..
Just one thing to inform about your last question's ans.. DROID 3'S ROMS DONT WORK ON OUR PHONE. IT WILL BOOTLOOP. SO DO NOT TRY FLASHING THEIR AOKP OR CM.. without backups and sufficient knowledge and experience atleast.. some changes have to be made in the rom before flashing.. i am trying to find all the files we must replace to get them working on our phone.. and just a FYI for those of you that wanna try.. other than droid 3, bionic is our nearest relative.. so u can edit and try their roms as well.. i did kinda get cm9 of bionic after replacing some required files.. but it bootlooped.. and of course bionic is cdma.. so.. good luck..

Couldn't be more wrong....they both boot just fine and are pretty functional, the problem lies in getting the radio to work.

Please I emplore you to do your proper research before making incorrect posts like this. I constantly see posts from those who think they know it all, and post idiotic things like this. Nothing makes me madder than someone who does not know how to use google and the search function.
It takes less than 2 min. to make sure you CYA before posting bad information.
Both CM9 and AOKP boot, but with no radio, as has already been said in several posts now. I have tested both.
P.S. most of us devs in here have been working on this very thing for sometime now, and I have not seen you jump in on any of threads discussing the files or how to port or anything.

Agreed, They actually run extremely well, but obviously I can't stick with them with no radio.
P.S. this is my new best thought for porting, might take some extra build.prop work too. It did not boot for me, but I think we should be able to get it to. Then it is just a question of whether or not the radio will work. there is way more in build.prop on that than I would think.

I think it may work because it really adds the cm9 stuff to our own files rather than add our files to it. maybe not the cleanest way, but it might just work.

WOW, did I really forget to add that? that was kind of one of the main points of this post I'll fix it tomorrow (actually today, I guess it is after midnight), but I need some sleep.

I have tried this method along with every idea that popped in my head of things to alter after following this guide. I have a highly modified build prop that AOKP boots with that I replaced with a lot of our build prop but there are still some things missing as no luck yet

Looking for ICS ROM testers (no, it doesn't fully work)

Hi, I am looking for a FEW people to test out some ICS ROMS and report bugs to me. I would like only those who are at least a bit experienced, so that you know what you are doing, but if you are interested please reply here and I will send you a PM if I need you. Please don't flood my inbox with PMs.
Getting a few of you devs would be nice, since you really know what you are talking about.
Thanks
-lkrasner
MOD EDIT: Thread Moved to Dev Forum. Provided most of the rom links and other important info is listed here as well.

I'm game. My girlfriend is using her upgraded A2 from the ATRIX 4G she was using before, so I can give her back the original ATRIX 4G and test on her A2... thus, keeping MY A2 as my primary device.
(I may have to buy her some flowers to complete the deal!) lol

I would love to help , I'm not a dev but I do have some experience with android , likely will be able to flash the fxz if things go wrong
I'm up for testing What are your builds based off of? I've found that I like the AOKP Bionic ones best, in terms of performance and compatibility.
What modifications have you done to them?

all it is for now is the droid 3 aokp and ics builds with modified build.props, just trying to get things out here. Dorid 4 and RAZR builds don't wan't to work for me, I have not tried bionic yet. the droid 3 aokp that I used in my most recent build will not boot, but that may be my fault with the mods, but other ones have worked. known issues so far are no sdcard in cm9, no wifi in cm9, and duh, no radio anwhere.
I'm Game!
I'll try it:cyclops:!
Anyone can feel free to download any builds I put up here: http://www.androidfilehost.com/main/Motorola_ATRIX_2_Developers/lkrasner/ (in subfolders mostly, so look around as I add more.)
Do not expect them to even boot, and it is not even remotely my problem if something goes wrong with them. make sure you know how to fxz back. Right now CM9 boots, but I do not think AOKP does, you can give it a shot though. Please hold off on bug reports for now, or PM them to me, as I will set up a thread in the dev section later or tomorrow.

I'll help out in getting a working rom however I can, based on your experimental builds you have so far. I think I have a semi-advanced enough knowledge base to test and/or any building.prop changes if need to be tried out... Eager to dig in to this!

I'll test them tonight when i get off of work. I'll pm you in a few days with some reports. I might just have to take a vacation day off of work so i can test them out.

Lkrasner I will pm you as soon as I get some free time and compare notes if you want. I will also send you s modified build.prop for AOSP that I modified with a lot of our build.prop and the cdma files removed that does boot.
I still have a few more ideas to try but the more heads in this the better we will be
