Where are the SGSIII apps? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

I saw a post somewhere with all of the SGSIII apps. Anyone know where it is? I cant find it! I downloaded the firmware, but they are all md5 files. I need to dissect the stock SGSIII Rom to get some apk and some lib files. Please help! I searched but i cant find it!

If you're really serious about taking apart the S3 rom get ahold of dsixda's kitchen and learn how to use it. It'll let you do most of what you need such as extracting system apps from ext4 image, deodexing apks, etc.
The learning curve is steep, and Google is your friend. It's all been done before and documented in various xda threads, just search them out. And good luck.

Stock/Leak and Custom ROMs forums

Who else wants to see a separate forum for completely stock (maybe also deodexed) roms and leaks, separate from all the custom roms? It might help out newer users who haven't noticed the naming schemes for leaks etc. It could also have a stickied thread guiding them to what's the latest available leak. The dev section is pretty cluttered :/
That definitely sounds like a great idea. Then again, there could also be a compiled list of leaks and deodexed ROMs, just like what Whitehawkx did.
Maybe I'll start working on that this weekend if people actually want it.

That's a good plan and will help all new comers to this forum.
I like it to - maybe if so - have the devs post if the rom is for Froyo or GB ?? Im a noob myself and I understand most - but still trying to figure out all the kernels and differences between KI3 or KG4... and what not.
Ditto.. Would definately help newcomers. It only took me a couple hours to figure things out but I'm sure it would help total noobs....

Anything is possible, and if it was done for the sensation then there is a high chance it can be done for our device as well, since they are very similar.
Just takes someone to sit down and put time into making it happen.
I realize that you are making a request, but also that you are asking a question - so there's the answer to the question half - now it's just down to someone filling the request or you learning how to do it
i wouldnt even know where to begin...lol

We definitely need people to work on themes for this device - I personally am not fond of graphics work, but went ahead and made 3 tutorials on how to work with the majority of the graphics on the device that are stickied in the 'Themes & Apps' section of the doubleshot forums. They are laid out in order of progression.
The only thing someone has to do is figure out how to actually wrap it up into a theme's package that can be installed and recognized by the device. Hopefully there will be interest in this.

I bet it's all the same for most of the ROMs with same sense version and resolution. Best bet is to grab the given ROMs original apks for themes, like Burgundy.apk etc in the given ROM, and start modding that, decompile, change images, compile, sign...the usual stuff.

Possible with alot of work the problem is the Endeavor uses a bigger screen. I'm using a MIUI Port from the Sensation with the same issue then you have the issue of the keyboard.

Anyone Interested

Hello my name is Master&Slave over from the Tmobile Galaxy S II Community and im just wondering if anyone would like to port my ROMs over to the SKYROCKET
I know you can just flash with the conversion package thing in which I have never tried but it may perform better from a complete port.
Here they are Tuesday & Paradox II.
I do my own themes so if you want to port without my theme on it, feel free I dont mind at all, just trying to offer more ROM choices.
Cheers
I'm curious on what your "themed aosp messaging" looks like. Can I get a screencap of that? I might steal the apk for it...

[INFO] Why we don't have ICS yet + more info about it

Hi, I have noticed a ton of people curious about why AT&T people do not have ICS yet, so I thought I would answer that once and for all. I admit that I and others have gotten a little mad whenever people ask about this, but it seems they are not able to really find a clear answer, so here it is.
If you feel like this is well done, please sticky it at least until we get it all figured out.
I figure this would be best said i a Q and A type form.
Q: What is ICS, and why does everyone want it so bad?
ICS or "Ice Cream Sandwich" is android version 4.0.x. the next version, 4.1 Jellybean was just released as a slightly less important update, but ICS brought huge changes from Ginger Bread (2.3.x) the previous phone version (3.x HoneyComb was tablet only). ICS brings a slicker, darker, and better looking user interface, as well as many performance enhancements. Most of us want it more because it seems like we should than because it is actually that much better. That said it is still a great update, and most people will be happy to see it.
Click to collapse
Q: Why is it so hard to get ICS for our phone, while others have it even though it is not officially out?
The main reason is our locked bootloader. That means it is not possible to flash or boot a custom kernel unless it is signed with Motorola's key. That is obviously impossible.
Click to collapse
Q: What is a kernel?
the kernel is a major part of any operating system. you can think of it as a sort of layer between hardware and software. It is the part of an OS that communicates directly with a device's hardware. Android is based off the open source Linux kernel, meaning it is free for anybody to build and modify. However, Motorola has only released the source for the ME865, and partially for the MB865, meaning we can't really build a kernel anyways. Then of course, even if we could build one, we wouldn't be able to boot it with our locked bootloader.
ICS is not really complete without the newer kernel that goes with it

Click to collapse
What is Kexec, and is there any way to unlock the bootloader
The fact that I grouped these together would probably lead you to correctly believe they are related. Lets start with the second half. Simply put, NO. I hate to say it, but there is very little hope of EVER unlocking our bootloader, unless Motorola decides to do something like HTC did and allow unlocking.
Kexec is a method of hot switching kernels while still booted. It is actually just a linux tool that you can use on a computer, but it has been built for android essentially allowing you to bypass the bootloader. Theoretically it would be an easy way to run custom kernels. Then why don't we? Well a few reasons. One, we can't really get one built to begin with, especially because, at least to my knowledge, jimbridgman is the only one who actually knows what he is doing with kernel building, and he is only half here now that he got his fany new SGS3. Two, it does not work great. I am not sure the latest version is working at all on our phone, and even if it did, only one processor comes up, meaning it is really slow.
Click to collapse
Q: What's the deal with these Droid 3 builds that supposedly boot?
Some people managed to build ICS for the droid 3 based of a 2.3.6 kernel. that means you can boot it on a stock GB kernel, and therefore you do not need to unlock the bootloader. Unfortunately that means it is not totally ICS, but it is still pretty good. Of course they are for a cdma phone, so that means no data, no calls, and no gps, making it kind of useless.
I am not going to give a link to them, but if you are really interested go search around. any of the Droid 3 AOKP and CM9 builds will boot just fine. Find more info in the dev section, but please don't start a thread asking about it.
We have been trying to port these to work for us, but that is proving more difficult than expected, and with ICS just around the corner, I don't want to put time into it. I do think it is possible, and if you are a dev looking to give it a shot, PM me and I will tell you all I know, and try to help out as much as I can.

Agreed, They actually run extremely well, but obviously I can't stick with them with no radio.
P.S. this is my new best thought for porting, might take some extra build.prop work too. It did not boot for me, but I think we should be able to get it to. Then it is just a question of whether or not the radio will work. there is way more in build.prop on that than I would think.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1598713
I think it may work because it really adds the cm9 stuff to our own files rather than add our files to it. maybe not the cleanest way, but it might just work.

I think it may work because it really adds the cm9 stuff to our own files rather than add our files to it. maybe not the cleanest way, but it might just work.

I have tried this method along with every idea that popped in my head of things to alter after following this guide. I have a highly modified build prop that AOKP boots with that I replaced with a lot of our build prop but there are still some things missing as no luck yet

[ROM][ODIN][TAR] SPH-D705 - Epic 2 (Unreleased) Full ROM

First off, a huge thanks to our friend, Sextape! This leak is courtesy of him. All thanks and donations should go to him.
This leak is for the unreleased Samsung Epic 2 (SPH-D705)! It is build EG03. Build EG03 was an experimental build in preparation for the final build but where the decision was made to not release the phone this was the final build for it.
It is a Gingerbread based ROM and appears to be mostly compatible with the original Samsung Epic and the Samsung Epic 4G Touch with only minor modifications. I myself do not have an Epic to test on so I haven't been able to do much with it. I've played around with it on the E4GT and have had relative success porting it over but I've got to many other projects on my plate to spend too much time on it.
I am posting it here for those that are interested in taking on the challenge.
The leak is in a TAR format and contains all the image files for flashing. I've taken them apart and they appear to be very similar to the stock GB for the Epic and the E4GT.
The TAR file is packaged within a self extracting 7zip archive. The TAR file is packaged within a self extracting 7zip archive. Once extracted the contents can be flashed as a full TAR file with Odin or Mobile Odin. The individual components can be extracted from the TAR file and also be flashed the same way. Links to both Odin and Mobile Odin are in Post #2.
At this point I've only posted the full TAR. If there is enough demand I can split out the contents and create flashable ZIP etc.
Files: SPH-D705_EG03.exe
Enjoy!

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but this is the old school Epic section. This was posted in the wrong forum.

That was actually intentional. I talked to the mods and they felt that since the Epic and the E4GT were the closest phones to the unreleased Epic 2 that this would be the best place to post this. We're hoping that those here can use what we've posted to add to what we already have for the Epic.
Fingers crossed!
Perhaps a more efficient modem file included

I have learned here in Epic land, if it exists, it can and will be ported! I would imagine one of our resident pros will pick this up and port it...and people say development is dead around here??? HA!!!!
Edit: just realized Nash is looking...didn't take long!

Everybody is talking about Nexus modem but does it have better reception or better signal? I leave in poor Sprint signal area and was wondering.

OT, but yeah that's what folks are saying - getting signal where they couldn't before. Some say the signal costs them more battery though. But you won't know for sure till you try. It's really low-pain now that you can flash full modem.bin's in CWM.

I've seen posts saying the patch works in beta tests but no release yet. See posts in correct thread. Read posts this page forward. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=30655451&highlight=cm9#post30655451
I have a question; if this ROM in the OP is close to stock Gingerbread; is the OP saying it is Touchwiz? Sorry to be Joe Obvious, but I just wanted to clarify.
