I was running MIUI for a couple of weeks with no problem, a couple of days ago the lights on the keyboard and the circular buttons on the phone quit working. I didn't really think much about it, just figured it was a theme I applied just didn't agree with my phone. I tried restoring a nand of MIUI and still no lights. So yesterday I flashed mikshift ROM and still no dice. I'm now running the leak from yesterday and still none of my lights are working. I really don't want to run the ruu and go to sprint unless I absolutely have to.. any ides?

Excuse my ignorance but how would I remove the hboot and recovery without unzipping the file?
Edit: Never mind.. dumb question. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll give it a shot when I have a little free time today.
I have had the same problem using several roms. One fix that worked for me was to disable auto-brightness, reboot, enable auto-bright, reboot again with my finger covering the sensor & both keyboard+onscreen lights work again. Try it if you haven't already.

Hey it's not my fault this app adds in a stupid signature ;-)
I can manually remove it but then I have to push more buttons.
CM nightly builds have a lot of issues but Sense roms are a big no-no for privacy reasons. Look at the logs and see for yourself what the damn OS is doing in the background. Sprint & Google don't need to broadcast audio from my phone everytime I take a crap and the cops already get informed when you go over 65mph on the freeway anyways. Have you seen the secret Sprint web app that law enforcement uses on people? I have.

Well it looks like I'm not going to be able to do this until later tonight or tomorrow. Just a question, why is the file size in your link so much smaller than the one in the original thread??
It should be the same file since I've used it before. I will do an MD5 check and reupload if it's a mismatch. Does anyone have the MD5 sum of the original? If so pls post it. Thanks
EDIT:
Here is the updated link: http://web2.google-it.info/PG06IMG-backup.zip
MD5 Checksum: b213b282889e173f53b3a871a4941ffd
Again someone please confirm the checksum. Sorry about the broken link.
Well ran the one "zip" back to stock and still no lights.. Not real sure what the issue is. I have noticed over the past 24 hours that the lights on the keyboard will randomly work but it's not consistent. Guess I'll be heading to Sprint at some point.
How i fix the keyboard lights
This is how i fix the lights on my keyboard, the home and and menu buttons those still dont know how. First you go to settings>display>check automatic brightness>go to system update>update profile> turn off screen (on/off button), this is the important part! unlock your cell phone using the keyboard. Dont press on/off button then slide the keyboard for some random reason that doesnt work, just slide the keyboard on landscape mode then the light of the keyboard should work i think. Hope this work for someone else too.
So I have been reading on all the "problems" that this device has, and I've stayed pretty quiet about all the griping over minor things. (coming from the Vibrant and the G2X makes me pretty resilient to "bugs".
Sadly no one ever really talked about how it is a software problem. Everyone wanted it to be hardware related even though the touchscreen works for every other app.
(hops off soapbox)
Here's the fix, it's quite simple.
1) go to HTC hub and download a new theme (mine was music lover)
2) apply the theme
3) reboot phone
4) pull the ring to unlock
5) go back to XDA and hit the thanks button
I've replaced mine so I don't have it right now.
Unresponsiveness is not just lockscreen issue. It was effecting every apps on mine. I couldn't type, get carousel effect etc. Does this solve all of these?

I never had unresponsiveness in any other app. Maybe I just got a perfect Sensation... well almost perfect (s-on)

I saw the 'unresonponsive' threads, and was somehwat amused, since my screen appears to behave normally...but for the heck of it, I tried the carousel, and could NOT get it to rotate fast AT ALL! Other regular nav/touches worked fine. I just tried this 'fix', and can now get fast rotation on carousel easily! It was worth clearing defaults (LancherPro) and playing with it to get this 'fix' working. Now, back to LPro!

Can you just apply one of the themes already on the phone? busted did not work, no thanks here. Just dloaded and installed music lover, no go. Who said the problem works in every other app? mine does not. Anywhere you try to swipe/scroll. home screens, contacts, pictures, LOCK RING, fruit ninja.. registers as a touch( a lot of touches) instead of a swipe. I dont think a software update will fix it. If it would then it should work when i restore phone to factory defaults, it does not, yet it worked fine at those same settings when it was new.

That is the problem! lol that is NON responsive. Swipes are not registering as swipes, instead registers as a tap. Thats why an app opens. I open an app almost every time i try to scroll through the app drawer. NOT how it should be.

Poll:
Question:
Anyone interested in an application that will translate key presses on the Xperia Play gamepad into touchscreen presses?
Would you buy such an application?
Extra:
Post what applications / games would make use of such an app.
Reason:
I started working on making such an app. But I realized, it probably wouldn't be that useful to me. So I wanted everyone else's opinion.
Yeah, I'd pay a few dollars. I'm from Ireland and I'd pay like 4euro, which is like 6 or so dollars
As it would optimize loads of games for our device, it'd be sweet....definitely worth paying for.
I made a thread about such an app ages ago.
If it works with analog sticks I would definitely buy it.
Browsing the net by swiping the touch pad would be cool.
i would so buy this if it allowed us to use the web browser and d android games using d touchpads
I would like to try it, sometimes I hate to touch the screen for whatever reason, after cleaning it (it is a real fingerprint magnet) with a cleaning cloth, I'm even thinking of replacing the factory installed screen protector (or shatterproof layer... whatever) with thinner rougher screen shield.
but hey, that's a good idea.
Be great if you can make an on screen cursor for web browsing, then copy and paste as well would be great. There are some games/apps that have fiddly on screen controls, would be great to be able to use these well, as well as being able to see what you're doing!
I just use the D pad and it can scroll thru all the home screens x is enter and circle is for back, it also works in the browser to scroll up and down to click on links
Sent from my R800a using XDA App
I'd just like to see the Triangle button be used for the Settings button in everything, much like the PS3 and PSP.
I'd also love a feature to remap keys, specifically to the touchpads for games that use the d-pad, and for games that aren't very intuitive in terms of touchpad and keys use!

Not going to happen. I don't think Android supports a cursor, so that would take some real development.

there is prob a market for this with pull out keyboards as well, maybe even for bt game pads!

It would be nice if you can translate dpad or touchpad inputs into accelerometer tilts for those flight sims and racing games that don't support the xplay's gamepad.
What about using the gamepad as a PS3/PSP-style physical keyboard?
Sorry to bump such an old thread, but is there any progress in this? Are you still going to make it? I am thinking of getting into android development again and might do something like this (no promises), but I don't want to step on anyone's toes.

Hey xda followers!
I have a hardware problem with my Transformer since the beginning and was too lazy to change it by a new one...
My problem is that I use my device with no problem but sometimes I am loosing touch inputs...
If I let the Transformer go into sleep mode alone and unlock it, I have to force lock and unlock again to have good touch responses back...
Then I can have a good session of 30 minutes of use without any problem and then, randomly, touch input precision is lowering, until I can't use it anymore and I must lock and unlock rapidly again...
Very annoying problem for sure...
But today I decided to search through google, forums, xda, to have a beginning of solution to my problem.
And I found THE Touchscreen Booster application.
It's an application that was made for Viewsonic G tablet at the origin. The famous Bumblebee discovered it at first so thanks to him for that. And the thread talking about that is from gojimi. He modified the application to be more easily usable. So thanks to him too!
Being an android application and having titanium backuped all my applications, I thought: why not trying!
So I installed it and launched it... AND... TADAAA! Just incredible. It worked, no problem at all, no force close, no freeze, nothing.
AND: touchscreen inputs are incredibly smoother, sensitivity has been greatly improved, response time between writing letters is better, multi touch is improved... It's just paradise. I don't know if you tried Ipad but the result is that type of sensitivity...
This application can be used by all types of roms and for people who have problems with touchscreen sensitivity or just want a bigger one
Please leave here your feedback, positive or negative, and remember, do it at your own risks, I am not responsible of the potential problems after applying this application.
It worked for me, my Transformer had never been so smooth, so why not yours!
Maybe you will have to launch the application some times, when you feel that sensitivity was better before, or after boot... But you can put the application on your desktop and touch the button FixMe!
Share, enjoy, and say thanks

Well, when you launch it, there is no SuperUser action popup to allow the application so I am not sure that you need to have root access...
And, yes, it has an effect on every touch app (try writing a message before and after applying the apk or try playing angry birds, there is a big difference)

SO i gave this a shot and some aspects do seem smoother to me. None of the handwriting apps i tested were any diff as before the test.
I already had what i felt is a smooth responsive touch screen, but was curious to see if it was going to get any better.
QUESTION: when you run the app it says after hitting the calibration button "Follow the directions exactly"
I hit the button and it says calibrating screen dont touch, but no other directions.
Am i missing something here or is that the extent of the directions...
All in all not sure if it is just a placebo or if it is actually smoother. I suppose others with really bad touch response may see an effect.

No, it really is not a placebo, believe me. It was even more noticeable in my case (read my first post about my hardware problem) but even when my device was ok, it wasn't so smooth as it is right now.
For the instructions, you don't miss anything.
The important thing is "DO NOT TOUCH SCREEN WHEN CALIBRATING" because it could screw up the calibration, and if you do the opposite, the result would be that you wouldn't be able to use the device anymore, because not being able to relaunch calibration (if you have the dock, no problem at all )
That's all

So, to people who tried this application, what is your appreciation now after one week of use?
Anyone for some feedback for who has used it for about a week now?
With my TF I have a "dead" / "very unresponsive" line (about 5 mm wide) under the camera over the length of the screen.
This is very annoying when opening the market (difficult to select the search field) or when trying to tap the taskbar when the TF is rotated 180 degrees.
Sometimes it works normally, so I do not know if it is the ROM / Kernel or just unresponsive hardware.
Could this solve it?

Why not testing it if you have it and report here, and if it works, in archos 101 forum too?
On the 6.0 update?
For me...
1. Faster fingerprint reader/unlock animation
2. New keyboard layout
3. Finally having an option to switch to pin code for alternative option if fingerprint isnt working
4. Adjustments on touchwiz
5. Google now on tap
6. New emojis
7.Faster phone ?? (hopefully)
Is speed an issue? My Note5 is smooth and quick. *shrug* Now on Tap is actually pretty cool. I don't use a protective lock screen so I don't know about that. I'd like to be able to activate Samsung Pay with a swipe up from the S-View window, but that won't happen.

Speed is definitely not an issue lol, but there are somethings that need a speed improvement.. such as the fingerprint reader. I just hope i dont see any lag. I could root my device, but i choose not to. Reason being is it will possibly lose value once Knox has been tripped.

I do use Find my Mobile but I also use this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rickclephas.fingersecurity to lock certain apps. It only locks those apps when I am not connected to my WiFi or my cars Bluetooth. Maybe with the new fingerprint API I'll lock the whole phone up.
I also noticed when watching marshmallow beta for s6/s6 edge is that the capacitive buttons dont light up when touching the screen... which is a smart move from samsung. It saves battery and it makes sense. It only lights up when pressing them or when pressing the home button.

Thats looks like a really useful app! And yes, really looking forward to the new fingerprint API. We can finally make purchases with just our fingerprint reader on play store, amazon, ebay, etc... hopefully.
I hope they fix the keyboard lag I have with every keyboard.
New emojis?! What are the supposed to look like in 6.0? Also what is Google on tap?

I also noticed when watching marshmallow beta for s6/s6 edge is that the capacitive buttons dont light up when touching the screen... which is a smart move from samsung. It saves battery and it makes sense. It only lights up when pressing them or when pressing the home button.

Actually it makes no sense, whatsoever. The entire point of the capacitive buttons lighting up when you touch the screen is so you can see them in the dark in order to press them.. lighting up when you touch them makes zero sense, why would I need them to do THAT?

It only takes about an hour to learn which is which... Its unecessary for the lights to turn on everytime you touch the screen, its just pointless.

They didn't light up because it was a Beta and the rooted kernel broke it even more on some devices, but made them work better on other devices. There's also mods you can use to just turn them off if you don't like them. Xposed. Or just go into the settings!!!
Also, just because you don't like them being on, doesn't mean that they are pointless. Tests have also been done to see just how much battery life is affected by Capacitive buttons and you can't even tell how much they use.
By the way, a lot of people like myself, work in dark places and have to use our phones. Think about that for a minute.:good:
The only thing I'm looking forward to is a phone that doesn't get an update and have it cause the phone to be worse than before. Right now my stock Note 5 works just fine.

Well judging by the videos people post about MM update or s7 edge with MM, it doesn't light up when touching the screen. Lol.
