For those missing Notification Toggles (Samsung Users) - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Hey guys, for those of you who have solely used Samsung android devices (I had the Captivate, Infuse, and Skyrocket), you might be missing the notification toggles in the dropdown. I know there is a settings button on the notifications, but I kind of like having immediate access to some functions such as flashlight and auto-rotation, not to mention wifi, bluetooth, and sound.
Try this app out: Notification Toggle
Also, here is a thread on xda devoted to the app and also has other icons that you can customize if you don't like the ones included.
There is also a notification icon for the status bar that you can set as a battery icon if you hate the AT&T notification.

Thank you so much for this. This app works like a charm :-D

Yeah I thought this would be good to use until we get root and custom roms that might add the quick settings tab. I am, however, loving this phone so far. So much better than the Samsung phones I had.

Great Find, this eases my pain from coming from Cyanogen on my GS2, thanks alot

Sweet I upgraded from a Cappy too. I miss flashing RIMs but for now I'm good with stock. So much nicer than Touch Whiz!
I'll have to check this app out.

[Q] Can someone make a WP7 style Notification bar or theme?

Hi guys. I was just wondering if it would be possible for someone who is good at making themes for the nexus s and if they could either make a Windows Phone 7 style notification bar with the battery icon and signal ect ... Or a full theme including a similar style lock screen. I have installed launcher7 and the WP7 apps to make it look like WP7 as much as possible but all I need now is the status bar. I even have the WP7 lockscreen and contacts app with Facebook intergration. Please help. Thanks

Ha ha very funny. Some people dont have the money and dont really want the phone as there is a lot you cant do with it eg apps like what android have. All I want is the UI and that us it. I dont want Microsoft ****ty phone just the UI. All I need is the status bar to look like the wp7 phone and that is it as everything else I have make it look like wp7.

I would definitely like to see this as well, I really like the font and clean look. Although Focus' are fairly inexpensive in the states, usually around $150 where I am but carrying 2 devices is a bit much.

Well that's my point exactly and I already have two phones as it is. My nexus s and my x10 so to have a third phone my trousers would literally fall down with all the weight of the phones. My x10 I help devs with there ROMS by giving them my tweaks I know and my nexus s is my everyday phone.

Yes I know that but that is just for.the homescreen. When you open an app it swithches back to the stock status bar. What o want is a status bar with the the wp7 icon so I can switch off the launcher one and just have one set.

I am also still searching for a ROM that is built based on WP7. I feel like it is kinda cool if u get ure phone to run as android but look like something else. I feel as if it stands out.
I also hv everything installed to make my phone look like WP7. Juz like BlackWatch89 said. The only thing left is the statusbar. Using StatusBar+ is most likely sufficient but I do not own a credit card to upgrade to full... T.T
Wud love to see a ROM built based on WP7 or myb hv the UI look like WP7.

[Q] Any customizable notification widgets for ICS?

When using GB I loved CM7 for the notification widgets. I could change the settings without leaving applications on the front.
I love the stock ICS I'm currently using, but I miss those notification widgets. I see there are some roms with this feature, but not customizable yet. And they don't have Edge control which I need badly.
Any idea which rom has worked this out?
J know the cm9s have it an some aosp have it integrated
Yes. Use the search feature.

Its called wigetsoid which can be found on the market. It allows for the widget to be placed on the status bar in the advanced menu.
However, if you're running CM9 they already have it done and can be configured with different buttons.
If you really like them so much you can use MIUI v4. Works perfectly in it.
BTW I also think that its about time someone gets customizable notification widgets in his rom. We have geniuses for devs for crying out loud..
Thank you. I'm very flattered that you think I'm a genius!!

I'm running a CM9 kang at the moment, and really liked this feature in CM7. However, can someone please point me to the control for customizing the notification set in CM9. In my noodness i haven't been able to find it in CM9.

Some issues I've run into

Overall I'm definitely loving this phone
One thing I've noticed is that in a dark room this phone is ridiculously bright on auto
And that the high level of brightness are causing a little bit of color washout
Swype worked initially, I switched keyboards and then switched back now it shows up half the size it should be
(Another thing I hadn't realized is how many apps wouldn't be coded for ics yet, looking for native ics app suggestions)
(Also is there a way to make the battery in the notification bar have a percentage)
Is anyone else having these issues?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
I agree with you on the brightness. Once we have the bootloader unlocked there are ways to change the auto brightness sensitivity. Same with the battery %.
The swype issue is an issue with the swype beta. I have already posted on their forums reporting the bug.
As for apps, they're being updated for ICS slowly but surely. Be patient

No I haven't seen that thread.
Swype alternatives? Nothing is quite the same as Swype, but Swiftkey X is pretty damn good for standard touch typing.
Idk I just find it surprising that even huge apps ex. Facebook haven't been updated yet. Then again barely any devices have ics so......

Actually the default keyboard is swipe enabled. I actually like it better because the auto correct seems to be more accurate. It had its flaws but it is great for swipe and touch typing whereas swype sucks for touch typing.

Just an fyi, if you use notification toggles, you get not only the toggles but you can also set the app icon in the status bar to show battery with percent . It's kinda a bandaid for now but it works for me till we can get some custom Rom goodness.

which is weird, but then again other apps have darker blues
anyone elses facebook app (across the top bar) look like brighter then it should?

Replace Sense w stock ICS lock screen, no apk needed

Thought I'd share a little trick I found in the HTC Rezound forum... turns out you can easily peel off the Sense-style lock screen and leave your One X with clean-looking stock ICS lock. You simply need to rename /system/app/HtcLockScreen.apk to something else, reboot, and voila, Sense doesn't skin it. I renamed it using adb shell.
It doesn't work perfectly however... I've already found a couple bugs where incoming calls don't show up on the screen (only in the status bar), and if you use something like Google Music that is supposed to add controls to the lock screen, only a black background is shown. I'm sure these functions are supposed to be handled by the Sense Lock UI which is no longer there. Maybe somebody smarter than me can figure out how to fix, or maybe this is just a useless crippled hack.

Sure, but there hasn't been any mention of it in the HOX forums, and this is the first phone with Sense4, which is why I linked to it here after finding this neat-o trick. That is all.
This is really cool, I'll definitely have to get around to trying it out sometime soon.

I doubt it, most of HTC's other apps are complete replacements of stock, whereas the Sense lockscreen is really just a skin sitting on top of ICS.
So it makes sense why incoming calls, texts, etc. using HTC's stock apps don't show up on the ICS lockscreen (they want to be handled by HTC's skin)....but I'm not sure why Google Music won't show controls since it isn't an HTC app. Curious!
Nice tip! Thanks for the info!

I like my s4

My name is Stijn I'm from Holland and this is my second Android phone. Before i bought my s4 I had a HTC desire. I had the desire for three years after it started to act up when getting hot. Found out this was a hardware defect and decided to buy the s4. I havev the i9505 with the snapdragon soc.
First of I was a bit disappointed about the smoothness of the phone. Animations where not all that smooth and I experienced lag using the phone in general. I was surprised however about the possibilities It presented out of the box. The video player for example has the option to play content on your smart tv . This worked great for me. I like the keyboard, the toggles in the drop down notification panel, and was not as bothered with touch wiz as I expected to be coming from CM on my desire. Also the watchon app that can act as a remote for your tv is cool.
So when opting for a custom rom I chose a stock based rom. Omega v3 was the one I went for.
It simple enough to flash when you follow instructions, but a bit of a hassle as you have to flash a stock firmware first. Lots to download!
Strait after flashing i noticed a big difference. Almost all lag was gone. Then I desided to flash a custom kernel. I went for fauxes as I used his kernel on my n7 and liked it.
After this I had the phone I wanted all along performance wise. No lag and blazing fast. Both the rom and kernel allow you a lot of tweak lots of stuff to make it act the way you want to. Worth mentioning is the app omega files that comes with the rom. It was updated yesterday and it gives you lots of freedom to change anything in the rom, from themes and mods to actual kernels that are compatible with the rom. Great stuff!
I also installed the 3 minit framework mod found in the android dev section. Man this app is great. It let's you change a lot of ui components on the fly with a well designed app that comes with the mod. Things like statusbar color, icons and many more are now under my control. And the dev is expanding the mod as we speak. You can make feature requests in the corresponding thread and they are implemented really quickly. Keep it UP Gharrington!
Also installed an app from the market wich allows for every app to be runned in multi Window mode. Nice.
I also bought the samsung mhl cable . It works great but the fact by our can't turn the screen of the phone of while it's displaying your android on the TV is annoying. Of course there is a root app that gives you this possibility. Yey to root.
Things I would like to test are miracast or allshare wireless screen mirroring and the dock with hdmi and usb ports.
Let me know what your experience is with your custom or stock rom and what you do with your phone.
