Some issues I've run into - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Overall I'm definitely loving this phone
One thing I've noticed is that in a dark room this phone is ridiculously bright on auto
And that the high level of brightness are causing a little bit of color washout
Swype worked initially, I switched keyboards and then switched back now it shows up half the size it should be
(Another thing I hadn't realized is how many apps wouldn't be coded for ics yet, looking for native ics app suggestions)
(Also is there a way to make the battery in the notification bar have a percentage)
Is anyone else having these issues?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium

I agree with you on the brightness. Once we have the bootloader unlocked there are ways to change the auto brightness sensitivity. Same with the battery %.
The swype issue is an issue with the swype beta. I have already posted on their forums reporting the bug.
As for apps, they're being updated for ICS slowly but surely. Be patient

Lol but instant gratification is awesome.
Btw you see the thread about a possible perma root method being found?
Any good alternative swype like keyboards found?

No I haven't seen that thread.
Swype alternatives? Nothing is quite the same as Swype, but Swiftkey X is pretty damn good for standard touch typing.

Idk I just find it surprising that even huge apps ex. Facebook haven't been updated yet. Then again barely any devices have ics so......

Actually the default keyboard is swipe enabled. I actually like it better because the auto correct seems to be more accurate. It had its flaws but it is great for swipe and touch typing whereas swype sucks for touch typing.

Just an fyi, if you use notification toggles, you get not only the toggles but you can also set the app icon in the status bar to show battery with percent . It's kinda a bandaid for now but it works for me till we can get some custom Rom goodness.

noticed that the facebook app (the blue for example looks really light to me)
which is weird, but then again other apps have darker blues
anyone elses facebook app (across the top bar) look like brighter then it should?

Font changer

I used font changer to change my font to helvetica light, but now the right side margin in gmail is really far to the left.... So the emails are much longer in length since the text doesn't go to the end of the screen anymore.
Anyone else seeing this and is there a work around?

If swift has all of this, then maybe I didn't give it enough time however I don't like hopping around.

You can enlarge the buttons in smart keyboard? How? I would like to use the entire space so that the buttons actually are touching each other instead if having small spaces in between them.
I need a keyboard with arrow keys, so far smart keyboard is the only one that does the trick for me. Sense and GB keyboard both lack it
I actually use an old version of "shape writer" that is a non market app that I found either on xda or android central forums.
Easily the best swipe style keyboard I've ever tried. And I've tried a LOT

GB keyboard. i like the arrow keys.
Sorry for late reply. (SMART KEYBOARD).
Settings>general settings>key height(there you can manage height & width).
And if needed there is an option to pad the bottom of keyboard for "added lift ".
1 of the best features, are the addition of free skins in options. Just one tap and you can have almost any other keyboard variant.
Side note-Not sure if "pro version" varies as I only have this.

I am currently using Thumb keyboard without any issues. The dev are even adding support for this phone (so I have read in another forum).
I'm currently using tablet version and only think with (sometimes) wrong size are suggestions, on short words only since the font size decreases on longer words.

I am aware that I can choose different layout but as I get used to it I find it more easier to use. My passwords consists of various numbers and letters and I find it easier to type as the numeric keys are present on the same screen
On Swiftkey X I decreased the long press to 250ms from 500ms so I just have to hold the letter for a split second to get a number. It's pretty fast.

Stock ICS Keyboard Issue

Anyone else having problems with recorrection using the stock ICS keyboard? I thought it was working when I first installed it but doesn't seem to be the case anymore. On my Xoom or N1 running stock ICS, if I place my cursor back on a word I've previously typed it will bring back up the auto-correct suggestions, so you can choose the correct one (like if it didn't guess right). Most people familiar with the ICS kb are likely familiar with this feature.
Any feedback appreciated, this is one of the best features of the keyboard.
Edit: Forgot to mention, I've tried clearing the app data of the KB. No dice.

On every other android phone I've owned you could have as many keyboards as you wanted enabled without annoying popup icons. It seems that icon is there no matter what keyboard you're currently using unless you disable them in the keyboards settings menu.

I thought the stock “Swype” was so bad that I was going to send the phone back. Got Swype Beta and it made all the difference in the world.
BigK52
I have to agree about Swype, I feel like the latest update has been a step back. My complaints are:
1) they removed the "delete whole words" shortcut found in the menu when you Swype to the #5
2) I dislike how my Swype button rarely highlights a word so I can change it. Sometimes it will just keep going to the beginning of every word until it gets to the beginning of the sentence/paragraph.
3) the responsiveness for punctuation seems to miscalculate and place an error more frequently than I've seen in prior versions.
It feels like a step back although not much is missing. I've been using it for roughly a year so I know how far Swype has come.

Best first post ever!
Wow.....just installed swype beta instead of this stock samsung crap that was on before. Probably 96% accurate now instead of ~50%. It's now bearable to put text down with just one thumb again Now I just want that microphone icon on the swype keyboard so I can talk if I wanted.
I have been using Swype since my OG Droid and I don't think I could ever use another keyboard again. One tip I have is to turn off the auto-correct, especially useful if you use any shorthand or slang in texts etc.
SlimSnoopOS - I totally agree on #2, I hate that it only highlights the previous word about 25% of the time now. I can't figure it out, its like its totally random now...
I was a huge fan of Swype. After changing android phones without Swype on it, I started looking. Amazon offered Flex T-9 as the free app of the day some time ago which I lucked up and downloaded for free. This is the BEST app out there right now.
Not sure if they have a free trial, but it's definitely worth the money!
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
Agreed, stock swype is awful. It seems that it's attempt at "learning" has actually made it worse. I feel like it was more accurate 3 weeks ago than it is now.

The voice detection is still there, it's just the flame icon now (at the bottom right next to the Search/Return button).
The icon change was because Swype was bought by Nuance, which also owns Dragon Naturally Speaking (the flame logo). They are branding the voice search, which is why the icon has changed. I hope this also leads to some under-the-hood improvements thanks to the merger.
You can consider using Swiftkey 3 as well
I find it to be a lot better at text prediction although it may not work for those who prefer swyping
Just saying thanks guys. Beta Swype is awesome and is a million times more accurate than stock solution.
