So I'm so confused .
I come from using an iPhone .
HTC sensation is my 1st android phone and i love it.
I have rooted and started messing with all the roms.
I don't understanc why everyone hates the sence UI. ??
I love it.
Nonsense is boring and plain .
Can someone plz explain to me why everyone wants a none sence rom.
I am using RCmix and its quick and fast even with a sense UI.

It's bloated and takes up more RAM. The visual appeal does not make up for its relatively poor performance compared to AOSP ROMs.
Ahh can't wait to use an aosp apps and roms

Its not as customizable as I like. I like having a dock with 4 apps that I can change and I also like having the ability to change my icons so I use ADW. Purchase ADW EX from the market and you will not be disappointed. Its like having a grand new phone. It will be the fastest thing you've ever seen. Sense has too much eye candy which makes the UI nit as fast as it could be.

It's not that people hate it, it's a very nice UI, but it lags a lot especially on the sensation. Sense takes up to much memory.

No, I absolutely hate it. It has no redeeming qualities over CyanogenMod.

I absolutely love it! Its pretty much the only reason why i bought sensation.
I can't understand why would people buy sensation if they dont like sense. They can simply buy samsung galaxy s II which offers better hardware and performance, and its not coming with sense.

You are correct, except the excellent performance of the GS2 comes in a pathetic, cheap candy plastic shell. Personally I got the Sensation because I was a fan of the design, and have a preference for LCD over AMOLED screens.
No phone will be all things to all people The first thing I did was stick LauncherPro on the Sensation. My stock ROM (Telstra version) was horribly laggy, and performance way under what I expected. Now at least it's fluid enough for everyday use.
YMMV of course, but Sense 3.0 to me is way too heavy on the eye-candy and doodads, while offering little in terms of an upgrade over 2.1. The lockscreen is its one redeeming feature

Galaxy S2 - $800+ , have to import, who knows about warranty.
Sensation - $150 with contract, available in store, warranty.
I bought Sensation because of it's hardware and looks. Stock build is utter disappointment to me. I will happily admit that I had less lag with my single core MT4g with stock rom or CM7 rom and, IMHO, Sense 3.0 it it's current form is the only thing to blame.
For me, Sensation without Sense is just not right. I'm not exactly sure what people mean by lags. I've tried AOSP and MIUI roms and in all honesty, the difference between them and Sense is hardly noticeable. On a beast like the the Sensation, now that we have root and S-off there shall be cooked roms with Sense that will simply fly. In any case, the polished look of Sense 3.0 and its fantastic widgets are simply worth any so called lags, which I am yet to experience, from HD2 Android, Desire HD and now Sensation.

I know I'm not along when I say I like pretty much everything about Sense except the launcher. Luckily that's the easiest thing to change and you don't even need root. I installed launcher pro day 1 and still get to enjoy the sense lock screen, dialer, etc.
No Sense for me is like Non-sense

Sense roms are usually well over 200mb. With Sense you're lucky if you have 100mb of free ram with no other apps running.
AOSP roms are usually around 100mb. With cm7 I have 280mb of free ram with XDA app in the background.
AOSP roms fly compared to Sense and I actually prefer the ui of pure Android.

No matter how much the devs optimize sense it will still be much slower, far more bloated and barely customizable in comparison. Having some cute weather animations isn't worth it to many of us who bought it purely for the hardware specs knowing that as soon as root came around sense would be happily replaced with a AOSP ROM.
Coming from an iPhone I can see why you prefer a lack of customization in place of a little eye candy. It's what you're used to and your preference. Some people buy Porsche for its 0-60 time and others because of those sexy curves, It's just preference.

Well said. But you forget that the Boxster got spanked by the little Honda S-2000 when Car and Driver tested them. AOSP being Honda and Sense being Porsche.

I don't like Sense and never have. I like a more vanilla look. The only reason I purchased the Sensation is because I wanted a 4.3 inch display and a dual core CPU. Ill get the SGSII variant once it gets to T-Mobile.

I thought about getting a HD2 just for the large display.
i hate sense, it just doesnt not look current. It looks like it was design in 2005 which probably was.... First thing i do on an android phone is put launcher pro... The performance changed completely. I cannot wait to put CM7 on mine because even with sense on this thing and launcher pro its still not as smooth as my Nexus one was...

Haha, that's a good point.
I broke my Desire Z recently and I am thinking of getting a used phone for around 250 SGD, the HTC desire s caught my eye, I love my old desire z, but the low ram keeps bothering me, Since the desire s is just a desire z without the keyboard and has more ram, I'm thinking of getting it. I am now deciding between the desire HD and the desire s, I like the desire s screen better since it is slcd. But I've heard that the desire s has emmc chip problems, is it very common?
eMMC chip problems are far from common, and are present in the same quantity around all the HTC line based on MSM8x55 and having 2GB of internal memory - which covers DHD, MT4G, DS, and of course your previous DZ/G2, which has exactly the same eMMCs.
If you can get it cheap - it's a great phone.
Is this phone getting official ics?
How smooth is the phone when running a custom rom like affinity? Is it as smooth as the real sensation xl? Cuz they have the same hardware, just that sensation xl clocks a little higher

I personally dont recommend it. Its nothing I can complain about the phone. Its fast like hell, Im proud of owning it, seriously. I recommended it when ppl asked me about a phone. But seeing what is about to come, if I were you I would wait a bit, raise some money so I could affront the endless quantity I would to spend in the HTC One X.
But I repeat: Its my point of view (In fact, is what Im going to do), the rest is up to you
I agree with Rostwildch here, as much as I love my Desire S you have the One X and the One S coming soon, the last one a little more cheap.
Performance wise they'll be above the Desire S a bit.
Good shopping!
I agree with everyone too.
The Desire S is a fantastic phone. But in my opinion, its more or less the same as the Z, not much of an upgrade.
If you can wait, get the One series.. they will be epic!

It's something you have to decide for yourself, like olyloh6696 said it's not that much of an upgrade.
Even if you're not buying it new it might be quite some money being spent.. personally I'd wait, but that's my view on things. You have to have yours.

Yes, it is. HTC posted it on their Facebook-Site.
About the ROM: I normaly run CM7 Nighlies und since yesterday CM9 Alpha on ICS.
without any problems.
If I compare CM7 to the Original ROM it is much better and smoother than sense.

"A little" is by factor of 1.5 - not "little" by any standard. Sensation XL also has CPU with 2 cores, and of a little better kind. Calling Desire S "the same hardware" is far from truth - Sensation XL is ~2.5 times more powerful.

Sorry, but you're wrong. The sensation XL has the same CPU as the Desire S but it it factory clocked to 1.5GHz. It is essentially the same phone, which is why we have many ROMs, such as Endymion, based on the Sensation XL.

Yes, indeed confused with Sensation XE. Sorry.
I can just OC it to 1.5 ghz and the desire s will be same phone as Sensation xl. How much free ram is there when running sense 3.5 roms?
desire s
desire s is good choice for me.....
its ram is even more than htc V one......

Yes, Desire S is supposed to get official ICS, but with Sense 3.6, not 4.
Not even 4 lite, like in the Primo S ROMs...

What's the sensation xl getting? Sense 3.6 or 4.0? Cuz if its 4.0, the devs can grab the sensation xl based rom and port it over to this device and it should run smoothly

guys i have the option to get a new phone and im looking to get either the sensation for free or the one s. i just dont know if the one s is really worth the upgrade it or should i just stick with the sensation thats free till a better htc phone comes out?
im worried about development for the htc one s cause the sensation has a lot of support in this forum and a lot of roms and im scared the one s isnt gonna get as big as the sensation.. what are your takes?
thank you
I personally don't see any upside to the One S honestly. No storage extension, a non-removable battery, not a quad core. If you're looking for sense 4 the sensation has some stable and fast ported roms from the HTC One S.

thank you man thats what i was thinking as well. i just dont know how stable the sense 4 for sensation is but ill look into it.
I just tried CoinDroid as my first Sense 4 ROM today - so far so good! No stability issues at all, and the camera's burst shots is DAMNED FAST.
But isn't the one s super amoled?

Both are still qHD. Amoled or not is simply a matter of personal preference.
The One S not having quad core is in fact better. (S4 > T3) Pretty much the only thing that appeals to me is the S4 in the One S.

Well what are the disadvantages of qhd super amoled? It's just so eye popping, you can't see your reflection on the screen when in use, better in light, less power consumption, larger optimum viewing angle, what isn't there to love about super amoled?

i currently have both the sensation and htc one s
and i have to say that HTC ONE S IS FRUSTRATING when trying to root , backup, restore or anything
the sensation was so good to me.
but the htc one s is faster than the sensation.
there is one bug with the htc one s when rooting and flashing to a diff rom is that wifi doesnt work. and i need my wifi.
if u r thinking on upgrading dont go for the htc one. SUCKS honestly.
stick to the sensation!

Between the two the non-removable battery is a deal breaker...
just my .02
One S has much better camera if that is important to you. I mean the actual sensor itself. Great in low light situations. However you're stuck with about 10 gig of user space and that can be kind of crippling with no external sd card. With the Sensation I have a 32 gig sd card which is great but I wish my camera sensor was better. Especially in low light.
HTC really likes to stick us between a rock and a hard place sometimes!

You guys do realize that this thread is almost a year old, right?
is there any chance that we can port sense 5 after the release of htc one..............i think our sensation can handle it and will look great on qhd devices............
I hope so, that would be awesome!
It's quite difficult to port HTC sense 5 to sensation from 1x as devs vll hve to resize full sense from full hd to qhd n I dnt think they hve so much time to do that as their r more imp work for them but when it vll cum to 1s they vl give it a try...
Hope for the best but get prepared for the worst
hit thanks if I hve hlped you

What if the One S gets it? If so porting sense 5 won't be nearly as hard.
Since we haven't managed to port Sense 4 JB from the One S, I am fairly certain that Sense 5 is most likely not possible on our Sensation. Based on my experience, we can only port ROMs from devices with similar specifications (such as One S and Sensation), and in fact, most of the Sense 4 ROMs on this forum are from the One S. Given the huge differences between the new HTC One and Sensation (1080p screen versus qHD, Snapdragon 600 vs S3, etc...), the amount of effort required to create a port is simply too much, assuming that we can have all the required libraries, drivers to start with. Even the One X+ may not get Sense 5, given HTC's poor track record of updating devices.
Hi everyone,
I need some quick, friendly advise think I've bagged myself two good deals for these handsets going to be a quick sale for either of them today.
HTC One X or HTC One S
Which handset would you say is better? I'm aware the HTC One X records at only 24fps in 1080p, that doesn't bother me won't be doing much recording.
Looking forward to hearing your views, ty.
Is there any contest between these two? Is the One X clearly ahead of the One S? I'm can get them at nearly the same price which one is better for the money?

The one x is definitely the better phone. The one s is the younger brother of the one x and on the long run the one x is more futureproof.
