Flash Video Fullscreen broken since ICS - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

im using the revolution HD 3.0.0 rom and have tested this with 4 different browsers, but ever since I got ICS i cannot use flash video in fullscreen anymore. windowed works fine but assoon as i want to expand to fullscreen, no matter what website, the sreen just stays completely white or black but the sound still runs.
already searched the forum, none of the hreads offer any solutions.
anyone else havint his isse and know any fixes for this? other than that ICS seems to run quite poorly, maybe its the ROm im using but i have frequent app crahes etc.. i want to stay with ICS but it seems very broken.

I have never run into that issue and have used various ICS ROMs for the Transformer.
Hell, I really haven't run into any problems since using ICS based ROMs on the Transformer. I have noticed improvements more so than bugs since updating the Transformer to ICS.
EDIT: I just tested the fullscreen Flash video and it worked perfectly fine. I was able to fullscreen the video and go back to the regular view without any issues. Also resized the webpage to see if it would crash.. nope.

I upgraded to revolution HD 3.2.1 now, still the same issue.
I dont get it.. im using the most recent flash player, wiped the tablöet before upüdating..
so whats different for your tf101? what rom are you on? have you tried several websiteswith flash video?

Yes, and I have used several ROMs. Stock, Revolver, Android Rev, AOKP and now Megatron 1.0.4.
Are you installing some flash .apk you kept around for whatever reason? Or are you downloading it from the Market? If the former, I will smack you.

no im using the flash from the play store so the most recent one

now on revolution 3.2.0, still having the same issue.. any help?

You could try flashing Guevor's Kernel and the Nvidia codecs, they help out flash video play alot.

Tiamat 2.1 Desktop Browser issue

Ok so I was all about using the Tiamat Hammerhead 2.1 rom on my Honeycomb 3.2 Xoom mostly because I wanted the desktop UA string for the native browser. I had a modded framework-res file for 3.1 that took care of it for me when I was on 3.1. After updating to 3.2 I had lost that (obviously) and was rather annoyed with using the about:debug trick again. After searching for a while to find something similar for a 3.2 build the only hope I had was the Tiamat 2.1 rom. I have no problems with 99.9% of this rom, the one thing I am having trouble with though is the very thing I was looking for. My Google homepage has a nice picture as a background instead of the classic white page with multicolored Google logo. It wouldn't show up on the mobile version of the site but, do the debug trick and there it is! Since installing this rom however, when the desktop version of the site loads, the background image is distorted. It doesn't fill the page and is shoved to one corner of the screen. I'll attach a screenshot so you can see. I don't know if it's a rom thing, a google thing, or a 3.2 thing but if anyone else has this problem or HAD this problem, I'd like to know how to fix it, if possible.

camera lag miui us

hello. i have little problem with camera in miui rom, latest version. i just bought desire s so i flash from stock rom. this lag isn t only in miui camera but in camera fx too, so i think it is in all camera apps.any ideas?
Which kernel are you using? I used to find it pretty swift using the Tiamat kernel.
Settings > About Phone >
Should have something along the lines of Cyanogen or Tiamat, I'm guessing its Cyanogen, only because I know most of the AOSP ROMs use it.
2.6.35.14 cyanogenmod [email protected] *1
Try switching some settings off even, but if not, definitely try the tiamat kernel.
http://tiamat-dev.com/tiamat_saga/
i have disabled some graphic features, flashed that kernel but still lagging
Give Galnet a shot, with a combination of Tiamat.
http://galnetmiui.co.uk/landing/weekly-builds/
It was the one combination I ran on the Desire S flawlessly, and thoroughly enjoyed.
didnt help too. i read somewhere that this lagging is on some older desire s. very bad to shoot photos but possible, but making video is such a pain i love this rom so i will wait if some sollution appear later. thx anyway
edit: not old but new desire s could have this problem
No offence, but I wouldn't hold your breathe. The HTC Desire S probably won't get the attention it needs, as it doesn't really stand out from the crowd.
Awesome device, but over shadowed by many of the giants that are approaching.
I've never had any problems with the camera being slow on mine. But I don't know what you would consider appropriate. At the same time though, mine is currently an expensive alarm clock.
some new thoughts. it doesnt lag like about 1 second after start camera app. it doesnt lag neither when i set timer . for 5 counting seconds is camera smooth. it was also quite smooth when i opened camera and i received force close window about app Talk. so if it could work good at least in 5 seconds count there must be way how to make it works.
hi guys! Same problem. I bought the brand new Desire S. Make it S-off, root, 4ext recovery.
i flash the latest MIUI and the same problem here with camera and video playback!
i figured how it lags - when animation of ui is running - video playback is running to. When animation of ui elements stops - video playback (and camera playback) stops too!!! Try to touch the elements of user interface when camera stops!
It seems that in new models of desire video driver works differently.
I tried to flash all versions of stock roms - the problem was gone.
But with latest cyanogen kernel, all versions of tiamat kernel i got same problem!
It is only one custom kernel with this lags gone - it is UNITY_V9_2.6.35.14_OC2016_UV900_SLQB_CIFS_TUN_NOOP_EXT4_2WCR_VDD_SAGA3.zip
But with miui and this kernel wifi stops working normally and video playback to, but camera works great!
May be some specialists in this questions make differences in above kernels and differentiate the problem...
i am wery disappointed in this device because i cannot get normally working any custom roms! ( only stock... but stock sucks!! want MIUI!!
there are another guys with same problem: ht_p://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/37785-camera-bug/
P.S. Sorry for bad english, i teach it bad in my russian school
Yes, I have the same problem with a brand new DS. I reported this here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20497676&postcount=559
and here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20510357&postcount=562.
It is happening with CM7 and MIUI Roms, the latter obviously have CM7 core.
No solution known to me. Can't take Sense bloat anymore, but at least camera works fine.
Edit:
On top: I have just bricked the device (wrong EMMC, can't write system, data, cache, hboot)!
Maybe someone (as I bricked my DS) can have a look at the new CM7 build by Jorgen (can be found in the thread I linked above)? Should have implemented new! HTC kernel sources. The camera might work now.

other ideas?
It seems that this thread is more active so i write my thoughts here too....
The problem with the lagging camera is only on new HTC Desire S (i think), because i got my desire s a half year before and on this one it's working. With the new HTC Desire S of my girlfriend it isn't working.
So i found a alternative, for those who like to take some pictures and capture some videos. The first one is (pictures only) a free app called pudding camera, it has a nice UI and it's working. The second one is (pictures and videos) a paid app (2,50€ i think) called Angel Camera which allows you to take pictures and videos. Oh and to make high quality pictures you have to select fine shot or something like this.
The problem is, i don't think that the (only) problem is the camera driver because watching videos is also a pain. Try to watch for an example youtube videos they will bug as much as the camera preview. In a few other apps like daily ... workout the videos are lagging like hell too.
And like it was said before it's working if you keep some UI interaction up all the time. For example press menu all the time, you will see it's running fluently. The same is working in the camera app too.
Perhaps a problem with hardware acceleration? The drivers (can't) be the problem because third party apps are working without that lag?
I hope someone more experienced can join this thread.
Perhaps superkid or proxuser or mdeejay, ...
yeah. xD there are lots of very experienced guys in these forums.
Thx.
Hmmm. Apart from the fact that I managed to replace my bricked device and now own a DS whose camera thankfully works, my experience was totally different.
I certainly tried 3rd party camera apps: Vignette, Camera 360, Nemus Camera and Camera Zoom FX. None worked, all of them showed the uber-laggy preview.
So at that time I assumed the issue involves indeed a new driver, API or whatever, a deeper problem not to be solved by using a certain camera app.
@mikep1993: Would you please try one of the mentioned apps, if possible (there are free versions)? And, which CM version are you on?

I tried other apps but they are lagging as well, i found those two which won't lag. I can't tell anything more detailed but i know those too apps are working. Perhaps they are programmed a bit different or something like this, but yeah.
We are using Galnet MIUI 1.12.31 so the newest build. Like i said before it's working with ICS again. Had no change to try a MIUI ICS build but perhaps we are lucky.
Now what should I throw my phone!!!!!!!! why no one solves the problem!!! I do not want to sit on stock firmware. This problem 100% in kernel, let anyone else will this kernel.
Today there is a new CM7 version available in the dedicated Desire S thread here at xda. Some changes in camera are introduced. Might be worth checking.
all still. I hope they understand what the problem is not in the camera and problem in hardware video accelerator therefore, the lag in the camera

[Q] should I flash a custom rom?

I just got a TF101, and it came with ICS.
Should I flash a custom rom? Like "Android Revolution 3.1.0"?
Does it actually make it run smoother and have better battery life?
If I did flash a custom rom, I'd want it to have full dock support, and I kinda like the stock File Manager app, maybe I could copy the .apk and install it on the custom rom?
So far the stock rom seems fine, but it has shut off, like twice, for no apparent reason. Once when an app locked up, and another, when I came to it, it had rebooted on its own.
If you're happy with the stock ROM theres no real need to change it. The reboots wont go away.
But to answer your question: Most of the custom roms support full keyboard dock, but some of the roms does not come with ASUS Keyboard.apk, which is needed to get all functions working on the dock (the buttons for wifi, bt etc).
You can take a backup of asus keyboard before you flash a new rom, if you want. But you need root for that.
Imo, most (if not all) custom roms are a lot faster than the stock. There are also kernels available that allows you to overclock, which in turn helps improving the performance.
Better battery life... This is more depending on what youre doing than what rom youre using. But custom roms normally comes with a lot less bloatware, which helps to speed up the device as well as increase the battery life. By how much I can not say.
I havnt actually noticed any difference, but I didnt stay on stock long enough to actually measure.
But I get around 8-10h from the tablet alone with my normal usage. If I decide to game a whole day I get around 6h.
The stock filemanager is actually crap, and I dont recommend it. But if you really want it you can indeed take a backup of it and install it on the custom rom.
But I still recommend using some other file manager. My personal favorite is ES File Explorer.
I have used ES file manager.. eh, it just doesn't grab me. I like Ol file manager better than ES.. but the stock one seems to be pretty good for me [for just moving files]. I haven't used it too much so maybe down the road I will find out it lacks features that I need..
Anyway, So how about CM9? [ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1525148 ] I just realized how much I missed the cyanogenmod options after just upgrading my Fascinate to THS build 7.1, like the Battery with text percentage, stuff like that.
Does that have the Keyboard apk, and is it pretty much stable? how about Hardware video playback?
And yeah I have rooted & have TitaniumBackup.
Never tried CM for the TF so cant comment on that. At all.
But EOS got a setting that adds text % next to the battery icon, as well as a setting to hide the icon. It can also hide the clock if you want that.
H/W video playback is ok (not perfect) up to 720p [email protected] Anything higher than that pretty much requires S/W decoding.
1080p is just a no-go no matter what you do. They wont even open with H/W decoding.
EOS does not come pre-installed with asus keyboard. Since its an AOSP rom it doesnt come with any asus apps, and I think the same goes for CM.
So you're gonna have to install the keyboard etc yourself, but that shouldnt be much of an issue (I actually cant comment on that as I dont have the dock myself).
Edit: heres a link for the asus keyboard for the AOSP roms: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1542502

I think that I'll do a backup and then flash cm9. Their ICS roms have always been pretty good [though I've only used their ICS Fascinate roms lol, and CM7 on a Droid X2].. and I read the change log and it looks like it has the ASUS keyboard. And I think I'll flash the Guevor kernel, and see how it goes. Thanks

[Q] HELP! Downloading in browser

Never had that problem im on Revolver 4.1.1 also, does this happen on Dolphin Browser HD ?
I am on Revolver 4.1.1 and I have the same problem. It does not matter which browser I use anything downloaded shows up in the notification and won't go away. Does anyone know how to fix this?

The problem continues. I did a full wipe and reinstalled but it didn't fix anything. After I download a pic from the browser it was stuck in my notification bar. It doesn't matter what browser I use to download an item. i even tried using an app called Downloader Pro.
Its seems that this issue will remain due to the lack of interest from others to lend possible help.
Good thing life will continue lol

Web browser slow with ics roms

I have tried several ics roms and the Sense browser and Chrome are slow, take a long to load a page, white spaces while loading, fuzzy text while scrolling or pinch zooming... Everything ok with ginger roms
Is this a known issue with ics or am I doing something wrong?
It's ICS - needs a newer kernel to address these display issues.
Try JB - the stock browser is pretty good, though Chrome has problems.

I don't like Sense, so the best ROM for me at the moment is this one:

If I'm correct there is also Webkit Hw acceleration which
cannot be enabled on ICS roms without some additional work on the
recently released kernel source.
also there are a lots of alternative browsers.
For Example:
Dolphin... ( especially the beta which is VERY fast)...
Opera.. Maxthon...
I Don't even use the stock one

Tried that setup and better than ics but still worse than gingerbread. Hope this week's kernel gives a clue to fix that
Its a common ICS problem. Its one of the things Google fixed in JB. No kernel or such will address this issues AFAIK. Sense ROms are already using the official kernel.
Try loading dailymail.co.uk on ICS, it will always lag. But on JB it is smooth. The same also applies to my Tab, so I don't think its a ds issue

Seems it's about the opengl rendering enabled, tiles rendering etc in Android >=3 You can type about:debug in the url bar, then in options go to debug and uncheck enable opengl rendering. That will make the browser to behave like a gingerbread browser
The opengl gives smoothness on scrolling or zooming, but at the same time I think I browse faster with it disabled. Maybe out gpu is not fast enough?
Give it a try and comment...
Still slow with jb?
