Generic 2300mAh Epic 4G Touch Battery? - Epic 4G Accessories

I troll Amazon every once an awhile for interesting things. I found this battery:
http://www.amazon.com/Extended-Batt...W4RA/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1336007513&sr=8-2
Has anyone tried it? I know the OEM 4G Touch battery works but I'm unsure about this one...I might pull the trigger and buy it unless someone says it won't work.

here is some feedback:

Thanks, evidently I'm blind cause I didn't see that thread.

From Thunderbolt to Charge

Hi Guys...
I have a Thunderbolt now (rooted) that waqs giving me problems I was going from 4g to 3g to 1x and then I wasn't getting any data at all. This started last night....I figured I would wait because it was a network problem
This morning the same thing was happening....I called VZ tech support and they told me before they send me a new phone...I have to go to a VZ store and get a new sim card. I unrooted my phone and went to the store. I got a new sim card and that didn' help. I called back tech support and they said they will send me a new Thunderbolt. I have a family plan and I have 4 phones on my plan (mine is the only smartphone) I asked if I can get a CHARGE...after some back n forth chat...he told me that they will send me a NEW Charge...and also a belt clip and screen protector for no charge....
I love my Thunderbolt...and I know there are pros and cons betwen both phones.....but I really use my Slingbox app alot and I wanted to get the charge because of the screen...so Monday or Tuesday my new charge arrives...
hope I didn't make a mistake not going with the Thunderbolt....thoughts??
I want to thank all of the other members here who helped me with all my questions on the Thunderbolt....I will be changing forums but I will stop in here from time to time
The charge came out with an OTA update (yesterday) that made numerous fixes and charge owners are saying that it made the phone AWESOME!

Since you're posting in the TB section, you already know what to expect
The Charge is a nice phone as long as you don't mind Touchwiz & limited custom rom/kernel options (at least for the moment). Sorry the TB didn't work out for you.

The problem that you describe was exact what I went through with my Thunderbolt. I went through Verizon tech support on the phone, as well as the store, only to hit a dead end... Even after getting a new sim card.
They wanted to send me a certified like new phone, but I hated the idea. So, after 2 days without any data service, I decided to do a complete re-installation of Froyo from bootloader. Note: wiping the data / factory restore and cache wipe did not resolve the issue.
The problem was likely due to a corrupt system file.
So yeah, I went and downloaded a rooted RUU Froyo and just flash it in bootloader, not in recovery, and works.
Thank you for confirming that I'm not the only one with a ThunderBolt that went through this problem.

No phone is perfect. It's a matter of deciding what criterias are more important and deciding between the least sucky one. One area of weakness with the Charge is the inability to manage the radios and manually forcing between 3G or 4G. You lose the benefits of battery conservation by forcing 3G only and may experience constant flip flop between 3G and 4G causing loss of data connectivity in fringe areas. Also, no simultaneous voice and data on 3G.
I'm not entirely happy with my thunderbolt but because VZW sent me a really crappy replacement. Actually, my second replacement. I had an issue similar to you a while back. I couldn't even get 3G. No data. Went to the store, they had to call HQ or something, talked for 30min or so, ended up sending me a replacement over night. That phone was perfect before I lost data. The replacement had that reboot issue so I got a replacement for that one; the phone I have now. It came without working camera flash. I didn't notice until a week later when I used the flash for the first time. That's pretty unacceptable if you ask me. But, that's not the worst part. My screen is FALLING OUT of my phone. The whole right side of the screen is not glued/fastened in any way. It comes out 1/4 inch on it's own. Went to a VZW store and they couldn't be bothered since I wasn't there to buy a phone. My VZW store is useless. I'm going to have to go to a VZW kiosk at a nearby mall. Weirdly, they are the most helpful usually.
If your phone is an appliance to you, then you made an arguably good decision. The screen is a dandy one on the charge and battery life is notably better than the Tbolt. If you are a root/ROM guy, then you're totally off your nut.

I just went through this after coming from a Charge back to the Tbolt. The left side of the screen was loose and it took three Verizon stores to get a NEW replacement.
As far as the Charge goes, I liked the phone, but my friend has a Tbolt and we drive a truck so we are all over the country and the Tbolt sometimes would have service and the Charge wouldn't, or rather it seemed that the Tbolt could hold a signal longer than the Charge. I also didn't like the fact that I couldn't do voice and data in 3G, but I spend a lot more time in 3G since I travel all over. I also could never get over 20MB download on the Charge and my Bolt hit 42MB in Charlotte the other night. The battey is marginally better on the Charge, but it takes forever to recharge. Also the lack of Dev support and Samsungs issue with updates scared me. There is also a lack of RAM, 768 vs 512.
Walking away from it, the only thing that I think the Charge has over the Bolt is the screen. If you put a 1600 Mah battery in the Bolt, the battery life would be comparable., but that's just my 2ยข.

I had a fascinate it don't matter if it just came out or not dev support is never strong for cdma samsung devices and always stellar for htc devices.
i feel like the Thunderbolt is a very raw device. Verizon pushed it out after so many ppl knew about it. Now we must wait for them to finish perfecting it and getting it to where they want it to be. I think once they have a good update for it, it will be an amazing phone. I love my TB, but right now its nothing to brag about. Once it gets GB and they address battery life and get all the app support, it will be even better.

Sigh, the charge has better battery life since it uses a bigger battery. I can get up to 30 hours or so on the extended battery with quite heavy usage.

I also am getting at no charge the holster...screen protector and I found out an extended battery for the charge. The VZ rep told me it is a 2600 battery....
I think getting this phone is a no brainer....especially with all the freebies....
the charge came out with an OTA update a few days ago....from what I am hearing from people who have the update, they are saying the data connections are better now with the new radio and so is the browser
I own both and prefer the Thunderbolt for reasons stated above. Though I do prefer the Charge screen.

As mentioned before, as long as you are not big on dev support, so be it. I find 300mb less usable ram, and a filesystem thats 1/4 of the performance a deal breaker. To each their own, of course.

[Q] Motorola Triumph and Everyone's Concern

Hello Everyone, First and foremost I want to thank the Triumph Community and all the mods/developers especially isaacj87 for all the hard work and dedication. I have had my Triumph for over 2 weeks now and I can't say I am blown away with it but for now I am happy. The triumph has a lot of features and it's on par with many other phones from 2010 hahah. The service as we all know either works great in your area or it will piss you of and you will want to slam it on the concrete. Regardless here's the problems I currently face that I hope CM7 will fix:
--GPS loading times are incredibly slow, To be more clear, after you enable the gps, it will take FOREVER to "locate location". (At other times after a cold reset it will work perfectly, weird)
--Low Volume (Volume sounds at 50%) on Pandora and sometimes calls. Almost everyone got pissed of at this and some have returned their phones.
--Lack of autofocus on the camera.
--Flickering issues when resuming phone. (I have never had an issue with this and honestly it wouldn't bother me at all.
--Dual Band Radio. Would It even be possible to have it just like the Intercept?
These issues are tolerable at times, but I am really desperate to see cm7 already. Please let me know what issues Cyanogen would be able to fix or not. Thanks in advance. (Note to Isaacj87 Hopefully you read this, anyways, I bet you will have cm7 fully working within a month and a half, if not sooner, Expect a generous donation when you are done btw!) Also If I can request someone kind enough to feature a step by step guide from root all the way to 2.3 later on! Sorry for typing all this but these are the most common concerns we Triumph owners face! Thanks in advance again!
Don't forget Battery Life!
I am seeing about 16 hours battery life on mine - just had to install Juice Defender and set my exchange email to come in manually instead of push. Before that I was seeing 8 hours or so.
Yea after I installed juice defender the battery life became comparable to any one else with a smart phone I've seen. It doesn't hold a candle to my g1 when it had a fresh extended battery that would let it idle for 4 days without dying and let me browse the web and the like for about 8 hours and only drain the battery half way, but that's a special case. Juice defender works pretty well at keeping the drain down when not in use.

Why shouldn't the Triumph be given some dev support? Because It's prepaid? Some people don't have the luxury to buy expensive phones and crazy $100 plans. We already have enough bills as it is. Btw, This phone WILL be purchased by many, and cm7 will make it work perfectly in the long run. If we can get Cyanogenmod soon, this may increase sales and Virgin Mobile may bring in better smartphones if it realizes there is a potential market. Quit hating already.
You got it wrong bro i love this phone, if ppl keep moaning and groaning on their little problems no one is going to want this phone,
So read my comment one more time and get the picture of what i was getting off my chest.

If they get 3g going faster and better GPS, and if they get the device going much faster too, I would be happy to try it out on Cyanogenmod, for now, the current build hasn't even been released and it sounds far from stable. This is all a step in the right direction though, happy to see these forums added and I hope to see some official Cyanogenmod support in the future.

I understand that there are some issues with the phone. Fortunately, I don't seem to have any of these problems.
In response to some of your concerns, CM7 still is Android. Yeah, it's packed with features, but it's still based off of AOSP. However, some issues could be resolved. GPS locking might be able to be tweaked and it's possible to adjust volume levels.
The other issues seem to be hardware related. I'm not sure what you mean by "lack of autofocus" because it's an autofocus camera.
Obviously, since I have some issues, I'd like to iron them out as well. We'll see what Motorola does with their source code packages and we can take it from there.

Warranty replacement

Like many fascinate owners, I received a Droid Charge as a warranty replacement. After 3 weeks of use, I'm not sure that it's the phone for me.
Has anyone contacted VZ customer service about switching to the Inc 2? I know I'm after the 2 week return period, so I'm just wondering what others have tried/said that worked? My issues are lag (even with Voodoo), spotty gps, and size: it isn't the most pocket-friendly phone.

I haven't heard of anyone trying, but I know you're probably not the only one who would like to switch... If you want go ahead and call and report back
If you don't mind me asking what ROMs have you tried and, if any, mods or tweaks?
If VZW won't switch it out for you, you could probably find someone willing to trade and Inc2 for a Charge.
No phone is perfect, obviously, but the reasons you cite for looking at other phones are absolutely on target - they're not the strongest points of the Charge. Be careful, though - if you have 4G in your area the connection speeds under 3G will put you to sleep!
I'm also interested to hear what you find out from VZW. They get complaints, but in my experience their customer service is about as good as one could expect to find from a company their size.
I don't see why you would want to switch to anything else, but if you call verizon they might charge you a restocking fee (~$30) to take back the charge and issue a droid incredible 2. You'd be better off trading on craigslist. You might even make some money out of the deal.
Well i just got back from he verizon store. One of the senior techs there told me that samsung is going to roll out an update to fix all the lag, connection, etc issues that we all are having. He also said that they are working on inc2 and instead of the update, they may just roll out that inc2 update to us all. He just did not have an estimated time of when all this is gonna happen.
I always go by the rule of thumb of " I'll beleive it when i see it." LOL

Oh, of course! They'll just give us the update from the Incredible 2. No matter that it's made for an HTC phone running different hardware with HTC's Sense UI and a totally different RIL.
Sounds like another great example of Verizon's in-store techs having no clue what they're talking about.
Thanks for all the friendly replies and suggestions! I'm currently on Eclipse 1.3.1 with the PBJ kernel. It seems to have the best mix of performance and battery life. Although Gummy and Humble are nice, well-thought-out roms too!
As for Craigslist, I'd rather keep my warranty. Afterall, I wouldn't have the Charge otherwise. I'll return to stock this weekend and I'm visit my local Verizon. I'll keep everyone posted on what options I'm offered. Thanks again!

Well.. I got to thinking about the problems I listed, and decided to keep the phone for a bit longer. Maybe it'll grow on me?
For lag (aside from Voodoo) I followed Hazzard's "how to" for Zeppelinrox' V6 SuperCharger fix. My friends and fellow Android users responded that my phone feels fast to them. It definitely opens the app drawer faster.
As for pocket-ability, I swapped cases for a Verizon OEM High-gloss silicon case. My phone now slides in and out with ease!

What is the downside?

So I have an Evo 4g on sprint. I love it. My parents have the family plan on ATT and my dad is up for a new phone. Apparently he can get the Inspire for free. He wont be rooting or anything like that. Are there any problems we should be aware of. GPS, signal problems, etc?
I guess I just want to know if this is a solid phone that he can use to look up stuff on the internet that we are arguing about and I think he wants to use the caddie golf apps his friends use. Is it basically just the ATT version of my evo? If it is, I would definitely recommend it in a heartbeat.
Thanks
All and all, the Inspire is a good phone, though it lacks a front camera, if that even matters.
Lack of front camera won't be an issue. I am more looking for issues that come up a month or two that make people regret buying the phone.
I've had it since release day and still have no issues with it. He may not be happy with battery life and the fact that there really aren't any options for extended batteries because of the phone's design.

Some people have issues with the GPS antenna not being properly attached and therefore getting poor reception. I think I have that issue, but it doesn't affect me enough to require me taking it in. Some people do have to do that though
It's been a great phone form me. Even if you just root it with a stock rom and a different kernal, you should be able to squeeze some more batt life out of it, plus you'll get rid of the att bloatware.
Yeah, pretty much the only downside is the ATT bloatware, if you can live with it then by all means I recommend this phone without rooting it at all...if you're like me and want full control and the ability to customize certain things rooting would be the way to go. When I was stock and rooted I haven't had any issues with internet, service or signal..aside from the occasional dead zones in my office and my girlfriend's work( hospitals so go figure). From what it sounds like, the way your dad wants to use the phone, I think he'll be happy with it.
The only issue I've had was mentioned above. Due to the design, I had serious signal issues that got worse over time. I got a warranty replacement and could immediately tell the difference in signal strength with the new one. Some ppl have this issue, some don't. He can always get a warranty replacement if he ends up with a lemon. Other than that, I love this phone and would definitely recommend it.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA App
This is by far my favorite yet. I for one have had no issues, I think he will love it.
Sent from my HTC Inspire 4G using xda premium
The bad part is that it really will depend on the device you get. Might take you a few tries to get a "perfect" device and it might not. If your dad is having you help him with a choice then my only advice would be to look at what he really is gonna do with it and get a device that fits him.
I have had no issues with mine and to honest I am happy with it to the point of waiting awhile before I upgrade, it does everything I need it to do easily and as long as I am not working on a beta Rom pretty reliable. Lol
Thanks for the replies guys. It helps. I think my dad just wants a phone like mine to look up stuff and play with apps. I have the EVO on sprint, and I seem to like everything except the battery life. I just want him to have a phone he can have fun playing with apps like the gps golf app and such, and doesn't have to worry about trying to get the darn phone to work all the time. For instance my samsung epic had serious GPS issues and it made apps that used the gps hard to use cause the gps hardware in the phone sucked.
I figured at $30, he would be getting a pretty good phone.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy Proclaim: Non supported battery after root... Fix?

I've searched and searched, but come up with nothing.
So today I decided I'd root my phone. After that was all said and done, I started up the phone and got a message, "unable to charge non supported battery see user manual." I never had any problems with this new battery, an Acesoft 1800 mAh that I've had for about a 1.5 months. I bought this battery because my old Samsung battery got fried. (I took it out and dropped it into water...)
I just purchased a Samsung battery off of amazon for $10, hoping that it'll come and fix all this.
I wanted better battery life, a faster phone, etc... None of that is useful if I can't charge my battery.
I used this root guide:
theunlockr (dot) com/2012/12/29/how-to-root-the-samsung-galaxy-proclaim/
(I'm new, I can't post links yet. I'm sure you know what to do to go to the webpage)
So, my question: How do I fix this "non supported battery" mishap? Is there a different root or kernal I have to use? Will the Samsung battery I ordered fix this?
Thanks!
Wrong forum kid. Anyway I've had this message once or twice. Power down and take the battery out. Hold down the power button for about ten seconds, then put the battery back in and boot up. Hopefully that works.
