Hi. I'm a new user of this magnificient device since last Friday. Today, as I wanted to try the camera hq mod, I installed ARHD and didn't like it at all. Performance was noticeably better with stock rom and benchmarks gave me better scores. Right now I installed arhd's chef stock odexed rom and I'm not satisfied either.
So, I want to go back to stock ROM and my phone to behave as if nothing happened today. I don't mind about S-OFF and so on, I don't want to make it S-ON again, although it would be good. I just want to go back to stock rom.
In order to do this, I downloaded the latest RUU (RUU_PYRAMID_ICS_HTC_Europe_3.32.401.5) and tried to install it, but it gives me an error at the beggining.
Thanks in advance
What does it say in h boot? You need to provide all of the information from h boot.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G with Beats Audio using xda premium
My phone is rooted with Juopounutbear with its hboot version 1.27.0000.
You need to downgrade your h boot to 1.17 to flash back to GB ROM. Then run the ruu,exe to return to stock. 1.27 h boot is for ICS only and is incompatible with GB. This is based on what I've been reading here on the forums.

as you are soff the only reason the ruu failed was because of cid error..
try checking your cid . "fastboot getvar cid"
if its HTC__001 then the above ruu works for you...
i recommend you to go for supercid ...ie cid as 11111111 this will give you the privilege to run any RUU... at the cost of not having updates..form HTC
to do that
1.go to fastboot on your device and connect it to your pc
2.type "fastboot oem writecid 11111111" without quotes and the cid should be eight 1's.
then run the RUU you are having...that should work...
if you want to recieve updates from HTC ...you can change your cid to any braned/unbranded version...
you can use the above command to change your cid to any value
( i recommend to have HTC__001 as its European unbranded and the device with this cid always receives updates first)
Thanks guys... I'm going to try and change my CID to normal as you say. Hope I can maintain my recovery at least.
PS: It's working ! Hope now I can make a nandroid backup of everything and be more safe about this

I had stock for about 3 months and now I've been using ARHD for a few months more, it's great, so much better in my opinion. Which kernel did you select?
If you have problems, pop a post into the ARHD thread, they're a friendly bunch and someone may be able to investigate why you are getting problems, because it *should* be a much better experience.
Running an RUU will unroot your device and give you the stock recovery. However, AFAIK, it won't remove your S-OFF (completely, but you might have to run Revolutionary again just to make sure it's alright)

100% stock freed phone without mods and bad experience? that was absolutely not my case, the performance of my phone was just fantastic, everything was snappy, Nenamark gave me more performance, Vellamo did the same and battery life wasn't bad at all.
Now I have ARHD ROM with sebastianfm's kernel, which is the one who gets closest to my stock phone performance. Battery life really sucks but I can cope with that.

I knew it would, and that's why I unlocked my bootloader again, instaled 4ext touch and made a nandroid backup. Then went back to ARHD because I missed my mods.

Hi folks,
I've got a T-Mobile branded Sensation, no idea how long they will take to get the 2.3.4 update out, probably months.
I want to S-OFF, Super CID etc and flash something else or just use a Euro RUU.
Problem is, for warranty purposes, I need to back up my current rom or obtain the T-Mobile RUU.
Is there anyway I can dump this rom first?
I've checked the big list of roms for the Sensation, lots of US ones there but nothing for T-Mobile Uk.
Thanks
Backup stock ROM:
1. S-OFF
2. Install CWM
3. Backup with CWM
Job Done!
Restore stock ROM:
1. Restore backup
2. Flash stock recovery
3. Flash stock HBOOT
4. Run S-ON command via adb
Obviously the ROM you restore will have all your personal data so a hard reset after making sure it boots up would be wise to go back to a 100% 'out the box' state

If this is the real deal, legit one, then we're onto a winner.
I got a "communications were interrupted" error when using Revolutionary.
Rebooted with vol down, it's showing me as SHIP S-OFF
Ok to assume that it's all ok anyway?
I had this too, run it 3 times and eventually it will say it's done. I did report this on their feedback on the website as well
When I boot up with vol down, it is showing Revolutionary at the top and S-OFF.
Copied the PG58IMG 4.0.1.4 updated over, went into HBoot and it flashed.
Reboot, deleted the PG58IMG off the SD card.
Reboot, back into the bootloader screen and it's allowed me to run clockwork, so now done a full back up which has just finished.
All I want to do next is install the stock European 2.3.4 rom (RUU_Pyramid_HTC_Europe_1.45.401.2), so I assume the next step is to change CID?
Thing is, I want to be able to use future OTA updates with this rom. Am I right in saying that whatever ID I set it to is what updates I will get?
Cheers
Yeah, change CID to HTC__001 and then you're completely unbranded. OTA's should also go through without issue too
Awesome. Job done. CiD change, installed the european rom and i'm now 2.3.4
Bootloader is showing ***locked*** but I aint worried about that.
That's the new HBOOT, you can still use Revolutionary to S-OFF it again if need be (I personally re-flashed the 1.17.0011 HBOOT back as I didn't like the LOCKED message)

Because it does, but it's not technically S-OFF - I tried to flash a different HBOOT and it didn't work until I re-ran Revo

I have to send my phone to tmobile to get a replacement and I don't know how to turn S back On...I reflashed my backup of the original rom and need to turn S back On. How Can i Go About doing so? As well as unrooting It? Anyone please help me....links or links to download whatever I need to. I am still learning this stuff and this is my first sensation I have done. Thank you in advance.

Well I tried the Sense-o-Maniac 2.3.5 sense 3.5 rom and I didn't really like it I guess cause I didn't notice anything different. Other than some bloat removed and beats audio which I loved! But I watched my phone go from 100% to 95% in 10 minutes of just listening to music....Dont Know why though....I would like to know what are the best roms that any of you can advise me to try that is good on battery life and get quite a differnet kick out of it if that makes sense
I haven't tried a Sense ROM if you're looking for that. CM7 is pretty different from any sort of Sense ROM but people have some mixed reviews on the battery life. It's been ok to pretty good for me, but I have an extended battery and I underclock/undervolt and use a custom kernel.
You could try Leedroid 4.0. Works great MIUI is awesome too. I personally use kernels from Faux but you could use stock kernels or kernels from Bricked too.

Ok problem I followed the steps to turn s back on and now its stuck at the boot loader screen i tried the following pull out battery and re-insert due to the security warning and then tried to re-run ruu.exe well everything went fine except one small thing signature error 132....so now my phone is stuck in the damn bootloader screen where i can pick boot loader reboot etc.....what do i do? Please ANY HELP?
Extract the ROM.zip from ruu rename PG58IMG.zip, put on root of sd card, boot to hboot and, when prompted, yes to flash.
Thank you alot. I downloaded a newer ruu and it worked. I am now s-on and factory 2.3.4 is there any way to flash sensation xl factory Rom without root? Just by using ruu?
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
as far as i got it is your phone a 4g and u want to flash xl ruu ? at least u need supercid for that and dont nail me on that answer but i think u need root for supercid
This might sound like a stupid question, but I really hope it is not.
I decided to test the waters with ICS and tried a couple of ROMs (Sense and Virtuous) that run the latest version of Google's OS. Sadly, in my opinion ICS is still not fully ready for our devices, as everything seems too slow in my opinion, and I also don't like the fact that we do not have access to some of the best kernels yet.
So, I decided to go back. Flashed a 2.3.x ROM and... I got a boot loop?
I made sure I was not making a mistake, so I wiped everything and tried again. Same issue. Wiped again and tried a different 2.3.x ROM and again, I got boot loops.
Then I decided to go back to ICS Virtuous Inquisition and everything worked.
Is this a known issue? Do I have to do something in order to return to 2.3.x? For example like flashing a previous firmware/Radio combo?
I would appreciate any help you can give me.
I have done it a couple of times. Once on my Droid 3 and again on my Galaxy tab 10.1. So it will depend on what you have. But in both cases. I was able to find an original ROM update. With the Galaxy tab I found it on the Samsung website, that took it right back to original condition, and with the droid 3, I found it hear in the forums.
I did it too. I didn't back up my ROM. But if you back up your ROM in the future, you wont have this issue. I'm still careless and don't back up my ROM, but I don't go backwards to often.
What Phone do you have? There can be other options as well.

I'm having the same problem. I get to the HTC logo then the phone reboots indefinitely. I'm trying to learn on downgrading the firmware and see if it solves the problem.
Yes, you'll need to downgrade your HBOOT.
If you have supercid, or a T-Mobile handset, this will take you back to 1.17: (I used it myself to go back to a GB rom after trying out ICS) http://www.mediafire.com/?4t9pep3e5hx6ljm
Rough instructions on how to flash it if you're not familiar: Rename it PG58IMG.zip and put it on the root of your sdcard, and boot into the bootloader. It will ask you to flash the file, choose yes and let it go.
And of course, you can then restore any nandroid backup of a GB rom, or install a fresh one, etc.
(if you're not supercid, just edit the android-info.txt file inside the zip and add your CID)
p.s. don't worry about downgrading the radio; I went back to a GB rom without downgrading the radio and everything is fine. Just downgrading the HBOOT is enough.
Downgraded to 1.17 and it still reboots, though I did a restore instead. I'll a fresh flash now.
Still doesn't work. How do I get to 1.23 again? I'm so confused now.

Use the 3.12 firmware and you can run both ICS and GB based roms, I run, CM7 (GB) and V Inquisition or V Quattro (both ICS).
I'm surprised you didn't like ICS, they're all alphas but pretty slick considering.
Yea man try inquisition from virtuous. Its extremely stable and able to be used as a daily. It feels like a finished rom.

(Hopefully) my last question. I have SuperCID (set to 11111111 as specified in that other instruction topic). Does this mean I can flash any previous firmware and even downgrade? I was not aware that this is what it does.
If I revert back to 1.17, will I lose S-OFF and have to repeat things?

Well, either I am extremely picky (which I am), or I did something wrong. But I do not consider these ROMs 'pretty slick'. I have owned far too many Android phones and tablets up until today, and given the dual-core CPU and advanced GPU inside Sensation XE, I was expecting the fastest, best, most fluid and slick experience yet, and... it does not deliver. I thought ICS allow the OS to use the second core, but again, something must be wrong because it certainly doesn't feel like it.
I am not saying that the experience is bad, by any means. Things are slick and fluid most of the time. But you do get occassional split-second hicc-ups, and I also have this 'feeling' that the framerate while moving around in Nova is below the best I have seen. So there you have it.
Many thanks is in order to all that helped.

Hi,
Why do you want OTA?
You have s-off,and you can run any ROM out there.
All of which are better than anything HTC are putting out.
And there are some who have used the OTA and lost s-off.

Choose a branded or general one.
The ones with a 10.56 or 10.58 radios are the ones you want.
I read that what the s-off does is basically buy you time so you dont have to flash the boot.img on your pc. The Maximus HD rom says you must have your s-off, but how about if I have my s-on, but flash the boot.img, will it be the same thing?

No, the reason you need S-OFF for MaximusHD is because that ROM requires a leaked unsigned firmware, which you can only flash if you're S-OFF.

Absolutely right.
And how to remove the red warning text you can find here.
Keep in mind that once you're s-off and want to return to s-on (warranty, whatever...) you'll need to reflash any stock bootloader. Else you'll definitely brick your phone. Best thing is to run any RUU before you set s-on flag on your phone then. It'll automatically restore the stock bootloader that comes with it.

I highly suggest AGAINST going S-ON with Maximus.
If you S-ON, you cannot flash an RUU to lower your hboot back down to hboot 2.15. This means you will be unable to revert back to an older rom or to use the current CM roms.
S-ON while on HBOOT 2.16 is a dead-end and you're forcing yourself to be on either Maximus or another rom that is compatible with 2.16 like Magio. Until someone figures out how to S-OFF while on hboot 2.16, you're stuck with it.
If you're S-OFF, installed Maximus, and you're experiencing bootloop problems and radio problems. Please look into the rcdata partition fix that me and many other HTC One S users were experiencing. Don't S-ON until you give this a try.

I am very new to Android, having been converted from iOS. I had extensive experience with jailbreaking and all that.. flashing Windows Mobile with my HTC TyTn as well.
After having my One for almost 3 months I decided to root it and explore other ROMs. Rooting wasn't an issue and I flashed MaxiumusHD 14 which was replaced within 2 weeks with version 20. Everything went well and I've got battery life that certainly exceeds, by a long shot, versus stock battery consumption rate. (Juice Defender and Profile Scheduler definitely help there too). Original stock ROM consumed a lot of power with the HTCCheckIn service. Noticed that here in Brazil I believe my battery life is worse than when I purchased the phone in Canada, I believe it's due to poor service coverage areas (weak data signals, in particular).
As I learn more, I realize that I don't believe that any of the steps I performed to root and install Clockwork involved making S-OFF active. My bootloader shows S-ON. ROM works fine and I didn't get any errors in flashing. How is that possible?
Am I missing something obvious here?
Should I do moonshine S-OFF and flash again?
I've frozen the updater using Titanium Backup (purchased that, it's great) so that I don't keep getting pestered to update to Maximus 21. I just flashed 20! (and I see no issues and nothing in the change log seems to be a huge selling point).
Thanks for the assistance with this newbie.

Matt

I would post this question again in the HTC One section, this is the HTC One S section. They would most likely be able to help you.
