[Q] How to Recover Ext2 Partition? - Galaxy 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I Created Ext2 Partition for Galaxy3, I inserted the SD Card into Plone and Use Link2SD , Work Fine
Now When I Unmount the Sd Card from Phone and Run the Minitool but there is Only Fat32 Partition Shows?
Why?
How to Convert or Recover It from Ext2 to Fat32? The Ext2 Partition Shows in My Stock Rom via Link2SD.
Thanks,

Try putting the card in a cardreader if you have one and look if you can see the partition appear on Partition wizard. If you don't have a card reader you could also try to connect the card to your pc by using a digital camera or something like that, although thats a bit riskier for your card.

Well, this may sound stupid, but did you actually make a partition on your card? I mean, did you ever see the partition or got it working after you made it with Partition Wizard? I know I've made a mistake once, were I THOUGHT I made a partition allready, but DIDN'T because I didn't click the 'Apply' button in Partition Wizard and thats the only way the software acctually changes something.

If you are using windows OS you can use Easus Partition magic for formatting to ext2

help with formatting sd card

I think I messed up my sd card for my G1.
I have a 8gb memcard and it was with 2 partitions ext2 and fat32. I just wanted to enlarge the fat32 side because the ext2 was 4gb big. Useless I thought So i deceided to make it only 500mb as ext2 and 7gb as fat32.
Now the computer can't access the card, it says that the cardslot is empty.
I use Paragon Partition Manager and there I can't modifie my sdcard. Nothing helps. I can see my sdcard in Paragon, but can access it and modify it!
Is my card messed up and do I have to buy a new one? Anybody knows how to restore it as it was when I bought it (only fat32 8gb)
Try this: http://www.sdcard.org/consumers/formatter/

YES you are so great!
It works now! Just like new. 8gb no partitions.
Thx!
No problem.
Now I have an another problem!
It always says write delay failed constantly!
Cannot access it, cannot format it, even not with sd formatter.
Is it now realy broken?
nobody :'(
Otherwise I have to order a new 8gb memory card which costs me a lot
use partition magic, create 2 partitions, make the primary partition your biggest and format it fat32, the second partition format in ext2. Then you will be okay

The problem is that I cant access my mem.card.
Always a fault: write delay failed. It makes even my computer freeze.
well if you have to get a new one get one of these:

Had the same problem after i used Paragon, would not read micro sd anymore. I did a system restore to before i installed Paragon. Problem solved. I am able to read my cards again. I noticed that in that "finish formatting after reboot" Paragon had an error. Figured thats what caused the problem.

Hi Karloe
Yes very happy with my white G1.
How is it with the black one running ADP 1.5?
I will try SDSPLIT, but i think it will not help
If it doesn't work, try a linux live CD (Ubuntu, OpenSuse, Knoppix (I like Knoppix because of the extensive toolset for testing))
[offtopic]
The black one is doing fine, engineering bootloader, ADP1.5 with appstosd

Software to edit partitions on SDCard?

Hey all, ages ago on my HTC Desire I followed a guide and partioned my SDCard with an EXT4 (i think?) partion for use with apps2sd I believe. Now, I'm using that SDcard in my Galaxy S2 and was wondering why the SD card was 1gb smaller than it should be an then I remembered about the partitioning.
Now obviously I can't view and edit these partitions in windows, but I can't remember the software I used before to create them in the first place. Can someone please help?
Thanks.

Minitool Partition wizard will do the trick. Or you can just use windows if you go through the computer management->storage->disk management.
Yeah I remembered I used minitool, but even that doesn't show me the other partitions when the sd card is in my galaxy s2, how can I convert those partitions back to fat32 seems neither windows nor minitool is detecting the partitions?

Only if you want to remove problems like low internal memory and want to use A2SD
My phone doesn't detect it either.
at start it gives small card with ! mark.
I tried formatting the card wholly with fat32,
I even tried making different partitions fat32+ext4.
In both ways my phone doesn't detect the memory card.
But when I do the update in recovery mode it updates through sd card.
My memory card is perfectly working on PC and other devices.
Try using the partition sd card option in recovery if you want to use Link2SD, A2SD or S2E.
Guys, do the cards ext2 or 3 , not 4. Don't know why but...... It worked for me. And if you partition them, make both partitions primary.

Thank you very much..I had the same problem, I formatted my SD card to ext3,fat32 and a swap partition and Wolla..its working fine:victory:.
There are some issues with ext4 partitions.
ext4 partition are said to be better but they might have some problems.
So if you encounter any, format it completely and delete all partitions. Using your phone recovery to make partition would be better.
Sometimes your second partition(i.e. sd-ext) is not detected by your recovery, and your main fat32 is works fine. Well that happened with me and i searched for solutions for long time. But did get any.
Later i fixed it by flashing the last cwm recovery with which the sd-ext partition was getting detected. Seems like the new version of recovery was the problem. Or something else, I don't know.

Of course you're right with the 4GB file limit. But for testing if your sd card still works it should be totally fine. Once the card works, you can format it to exFat in windows.

Try to use SDFormatter. Try different options. If it doesn't help, may be your beloved sd card is (physically) broken.
Fat32
I think you have to format your SD into fat32

Right, my bad!
Well, maybe it's an hardware issue with the SD Card. If it doesn't get detected by any phone but in PC, I don't have an explanation to that.
Let's wait and see if someone else has another idea.

I had this problem a few years ago with my Samsung tab 3 and the solution that worked for me was formatting your micro SD card inside your phone, this automatically formats it to FAT 32. See if that works.
Also did you try another android device besides your current one
