My buddy said he'd sell me his sensation for $100. It has a cracked screen and ever since he dropped it and cracked it the speaker is kinda hit and miss. Is this a common issue when the screen cracks or is there a hardware problem at this point? I was going to order the HTC One S until I found out it has a sealed battery and there's no slot for an sd card.. LAME! Thanks for anyones help in advance!
I think the speaker got hit too, check out fixing prices for them but I think it worth 100 bucks. No warranty though?

I have insurance with T-Mobile so worst case I would buy it at $100 and pay $130 for a replacement, not bad. I was hoping to just repaid the screen since I can do it for free at work but the speaker scares me. Not sure if its worth the hassle.
That would not be so expensive to replace, would it?

Okay,so after a super terrible day of bad luck, i was working out about an hour ago with my buddy. my phone was in my hoody pocket and when i went to get on the bench it fell out and the top left part of the digitizer (i think it is called at least) has the common glassy smartphone crack with the ripple effect about 3/4 of an inch into the phone. I have the AT&T approved case for it that i bought with it but that didnt help the 1.5 foot drop. When i bought the phone i made sure i got a warranty plan that would cover accidents. I could have sworn that the guy said it was full coverage. But then i did my research and it turns out that this is the warranty restrictions http://www.wireless.att.com/learn/basics/choosing-features-services/wireless-insurance.jsp and it turns out that it only gives you a deductible and i am a highschool student with no job or allowance and cannot afford to put 200$ into a new phone. Is there any super advanced exaggerated story that i can feed the AT&T customer support to where i get a refurb replacement for free? Its a little immoral but i paid for a complete coverage plan. And phones with cases shouldnt crack from that height. Please help me XDA community.
EDIT: Any suggestions are appreciated.
Does it cover theft/loss??

Dropped my phone last night and now im looking through alot of cracks this sucks, anyone have advice? Insurance or replace it myself?

Why would you not use insurance?
Ouch.. That sucks. :/
Well I think its like 120 to do a replace through tmobiles little 3rd party warranty provider.. Might want to weigh that out with a replacement screen.

So I've had my nexus s for like 3 months and the glass just mysteriously cracked. Wtf. And the asurion insurance wants me to pay 130 for them to replace it with a vibrant, not even a 4g a goddamn 3g vibrant. Wtf!
How is that even possible not the same phone
You have to be leaving something out
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using XDA Premium App
Nope not leaving anything out, because T-Mobile doesn't actually carry this phone the 8 bucks a month I spend on insurance can't replace this particular device. Just screwed unless I buy the touch screen digitizer glass assembly and fix it my self, which is what Iam going to do.
Wonder if you would be able to keep the busted nexus s with the claim, and get the other phone? I would fix the NS, then flip the other for cash.
Just a thought........

i don't know from experience, but i've been told that with sprint's asurion claims, many times they don't even ask for the original device back.
maybe tmo's policy is the same? and technically this wouldn't be fraud either.
The ESN becomes blacklisted so it doesn't become much more than a glorified media player.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using XDA App
thats what i thought too, but there are reports that sprint hasn't been blacklisting them. nonetheless, his is a gsm phone, so he wouldn't have to worry about that.
Yea they told me i would be billed like 30 bucks if i didnt return it, sooo... that might not be a bad plan. Thanks for the idea
WIN!
Usually that company will reimburse you for the cost of buying a new Nexus S, less the deductible. All you should have to do is send them the receipt. Call them and ask..that's what a lot of Nexus One owners had to do.

I got this last friday and dropped it on saturday. I found out that this was a slippery phone after i got it. Everything works fine on the phone, there are no problems at all except the fact that theres a big crack on the side(refer to pics attached). I have insurance, but you still have to pay the $130 deductible. So i was wondering if it's worth it to return it and get a new one from asurion?

If you can afford it, and wish to replwce it then go for it, just think if you do drop it again. That screens going to fall apart.

Its just the digitiser man, $30 part. You can fix it yourself if you're willing. The actual LCD is fine.

How hard is it to replace the digitizer? I've taken my old phones apart to replace speakers and other smaller things. But never replacing the digitizer.
It's glued to actual screen right?
I have a couple annoying scratches, which is the only reason why I would sell my phone.

I'd just get the replacement from the insurance company. That way you avoid all hassle of looking up how to videos and who knows maybe get the Black edition one.

I paid out right for my phone, and I'm in a prepaid plan. So no insurance.
I know how to replace the entire unit, but a couple of scratches isn't worth $130. It is worth $30 however.
I was going to buy a black tmous back plate to replace also.

Okay I'm not trying to sell my s3 here, but I need advice on selling it locally. My s3 is in great condition. the screen has literally NEVER been touched, but I did drop it on a church trip and a crack covers a bottom corner. Just one in-line crack on the bottom corner. I want to know a decent selling price is cause you can't tell the crack is on the screen when the screen is on and everything works perfect still. including where the crack is. I have the s4 now so I'm looking for a little extra cash but don't wanna rip myself or a buyer off. thanks!
the screen protector is dirty near the home button just so you know that is not the actual phone
replace the glass and you will get much more for it.

all you need is a 20 dollar part and a heat gun/ hair dryer.
there are videos on youtube. looks pretty "fool proof" if you are willing to risk possibly messing the digitizer up. if that happens you are at like 200 bucks in repairs.

Honestly, I don't believe it will sell as is. The S4 is out and that has caused some S3s on Ebay and Craig's List that don't have the crack for fairly reasonable prices.
I hope I'm wrong but I'd really try to repair it or at least get prices on having someone else do it for you. If you know someone who can fix it, you might get it done for parts plus a couple of six packs.
Radioshack has a service they offer that fixes broken screens and it is less than a 100 bucks. I know in my area there are at least 2 places that fix screens for less than 50 dollars. Most of the phones on Craigslist in my area have already dropped in prices so don't expect much more than 200 for a broken screen.

well I already have the s4 and a backup droid x2 (haha I know) so I may just sell it for around $100-120. otherwise it will sit on my desk. I have a friend that already wants it bad. He is switching from an iPhone of many years so I can cut him a deal to help him out. Thank you everyone for the advice!
