[Q] inspire delema rooted problem maybe? - HTC Inspire 4G

Hello, I have an HTC inspire and been rooted for a few months. The volume+ has been very glitchy most of the time not working. Even tried a custom Rom and still bad issue. This noting I re locked the phone and put it back to the way it was when I got it. So far today the volume button has worked every time with no problem. My question when rooting the phone is their a chance that rooting caused the hardware issue, that it corrupted the software enlighten to make it glitchy in that way. Is their a way to confirm that. Just wondering because I hate haveing this un-rooted phone lol.

Custom ROMs would not affect your hardware buttons unless you installed an app that messed with the volume.

I really didn't think it was the Rom I was wondering more about the rooting its self. thanks for the reply.

Rooting the phone doesnt affect the volume rocker...you can not break physically the phone from software...

Guys I didn't not mean physical damage. I meant software get corrupted some how, by the rooting process. Phone has been relocked for past two days. I have shut off phone twice in a row, tried everything I could think of to get the vol+ button not to work and it works every time. No matter how hard I push on it. No I didn't try to smash it bit still no matter what it works.

Well volume is messing up now again and its un-rooted. So its def a hardware issue. Sucks because now I have to send it it to be repaired but good because I can re-root it when I get it back lol.

Congrats on tracking down the problem. Just think, it should be like new when you get it back.

Advice on exchage/return

So...I've had my Mytouch 4G rooted and running CM7 Preview for a little bit.
Last night I decided to put the Eng Boot 'cause I read is the only way to change the splash screen. All seemed fine, no error message. After I rebooted I was graced with a black screen. Now the phone won't turn on.
I am still under my remorse period, but I have no insurance. If I send this back to T-mo will they be able to figure out I messed around with it? Am I SOL?
What if I add the insurance and call saying I lost it, thus paying the premium instead of buying new?
Any advice from people who had to deal with this before?
A very similar thing happened to me, but I was not under the remorse period even. I sent my phone back rooted and unable to be turned on without problem.

Can you get back in the bootloader? Power and Volume down together. This is a likely problem where the clockwork recovery never flashed properly. I always test the recovery first before flashing any ROMS or other stuff. Sometimes the clockwork recovery does not take and you have to do it a second time.

na, I won't even turn on. The only sign of life is a solid led light when I plug the charger, nothing else.

By the way, what did you tell the company? and what company was it?
I have a dead one too, and I discovered that holding both volume buttons while connecting to USB results in 5 vibe pulses and a device being detected: "Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM" in Windows.
Any ideas what this can be used for?
I am gonna have to send it back soon since I finally got a good screen, but I can mess around with it until then.
Honestly I wouldn't send it back rooted the oow fee have went up and something u may not see on ur bill for up to 60 - 90 days granted some ppl get lucky and not charged but not all

Not the same as sending it back, but I returned a phone with S=OFF and they didn't look even look at the store.
I doubt that they would come back to you after the phone made it to the recertification center. It would be a good 2-3 weeks before a person even touches the phone to inspect it. It would be easier for them just to reflash over it with whatever serial connection they have.

Search the dev section threads - there is a stock recovery in one of the threads.
For those of you that cannot get into bootloader and absolutely nothing happens when you press volume down/power button (try several times and be real sure...) - TMo probably will not be able to tell what happened if the device is totally dead - so go ahead and return it

HTC Sensation Bricked? Suddenly can't turn on anymore..

Hi guys,
I've run into some problems, I installed Android Revolution HD 6.5 two days ago. Everything worked like a charm, now I shutted down my phone to go in recovery, sadly enough my phone won't reboot, does not charge nor does it respond to my desperate pushes on the power button. Anyone experienced anything like this?
Worth mentioning also is that the battery was 80+% charged.. So it would seem strange to me that this would anything to do with eventual dead battery.
Just to be clear: hadn't installed anything, nothing less, nothing more.
If I could just get acces to bootloader through usb or anything like this.
I fear that there is someting seriously wrong here?
What are you guys thinking? Any possible solutions?
Hi,
The same thing more or less happened to me.
My phone went dead one night and wouldnt turn on, charge or connect with the PC. I had already arranged a repair with HTC for another issue and so I sent it off to them and a few days later I now have it back and it is working fine so far.
They replaced the mainboard and a few other bits and pieces all under warranty.
I hope you get your phone fixed and sorted asap.

Hi,
Is there any chance the battery pins could be damaged or bent?
Is there any way for you to get hold of another battery(from a shop or friend) and try that?
I will test the battery in the laboratory tomorrow.. I've read you should get a minimum of 3.6V or something like that? Curious to see what has caused this problem. Do you think htc would see I flashed a custom rom on it if I send it to repair?

That is why i suggest a different battery.
If they can switch it on,they will see the s-off.
If they cannot,it does not matter.

They don't use a JTAG unit or anything like that to see what has went wrong than I presume? Well, first thing I'll do is test it right away at the laboratory. I will post the result in the evening.

My sensation was rooted and had a custom ROM on, but I was preparing to send the phone back in when it got bricked. I had managed to install stock rom and do S-on but the phone had an unlocked bootloader using HTC dev website, so I was worried they wouldnt do the repair.
As it happens they did all the work under warranty and didnt say/ mention having unlocked bootloader. It has come back locked though.
Was anybody able to find a fix for this?
My sensation 4g has basically the same problem. After rooting and installing ICS it worked fine for a few days then it ceased booting or responding to a charger (no LED response). I was able to turn on the phone again by letting it sit for a while but no luck lately. I'm wondering if my phone is bricked?
When I press the power button the screen stays black with lights on (no LED).
I can't get into bootloader and the phone is not detected by ADB, I tried the unbricking project thread by Dexter, however my phone is not detected by linux. On windows, i did get it to detect as qhsusb_dload.
Any thoughts would be helpful!
Thanks

If your getting QHSUSB DLOAD I'm so sorry to tell you as I believe your device is HARD BRICKED. You can try jtag. If you search there are several companies who will jtag. I'm wishing you the best and I'm sorry about your device.

I had to return my HTC Sensation to the repair center. Apparently the motherboard just fried. I got a new motherboard and just S-OFFed the phone again. Very weird problem though. As has been said in this post earlier, if they can't turn on the device they won't see it is S-OFFed and your warranty will apply.

g2x touch screen keys not working!.

okay, so the tittle says it itself. but the normal screen works. :\ is the keys that don't do anything. "home, Back, search and menu" everything works flawlessly, but this keys just wont respond. the light turns on every time i touch the screen but when i touch any of the bottom keys. it just doesn't do anything. any one have any suggestions? that could help me .. ive done factory resets twice and the hard reset also. would flashing a rom fix this problem?
Doesn't hurt to try. Do a backup and re flash rom or a different rom if problem is consistent than it might be hardware

Thanks for your quick reply tomorrow morning i'll do that. I have to figure out,how to flash a rom. I have not yetrooted the phone or Flashed any rom. If flashing rooms don't work, would replacing the screen, lens or digitizer do anything??

Wait till tomorrow like you said maybe another person might have a better answer. If you haven't rooted your phone then you should Imo. Best thing a g2x can get is a custom rom! You will be very impressed. It may be

i think i mentioned it on the first post. yes i have done a hard reset and I've done the "pull out the battery, take the sim card out and the Sd card and just turn it on with just the battery. and i believe is not. this phone has been around for a while and like i said is my friends. I wouldn't know if it is but I'll ask him when i get a chance.
It may be the digitizer I don't know for sure I'll actually do some research cause kinda interesting...
I want to go with you needing a new digitizer.
if not find an ICS launcher type thing it'll put the onscreen keys lol. I couldn't much especially on either the G2X nor European variant O2X... and I got bored reading about people spilling water, so make sure it doesn't have water damage other then that... new digitizer.
any suggestion would be appreciated!! I'm sure this phone is not under warranty, so replacing the digitizer wouldn't be a problem for me. at this moment I'm installing ClockworkMod, do any of you know which Rom is the best, as of in "stable/No Problems/Fast"?
Edit: Just Flashed CM7.1.0.1 to my phone and no luck at all. seems like I'm going to have to buy a new digitizer. Hopefully that solves the problem.

While you're at it, may as well make a video/pic tutorial.
I know the aokp ICS rom has a navigation bar that puts a Home, Back, and Menu button on the screen for people that don't have physical buttons. I'm not sure if other ICS roms for the g2x keep this feature. This may work as a temp solution until your new digitiser arrives.

There are plenty of videos/tutorials how to open the phone and replace the digitizer on YouTube.
@linelock, Thanks for your suggestion. but sadly the phone's digitizer/screen got cracked somehow while it was in my backpack, :\ so now I'm just waiting for the one I ordered since the touchscreen doesn't work at all... For now I'm just using this defy..

As far as I know, manufacturer warranties is 1 year, depending on when the phone was first sold...don't know if you'd go that way. I don't think it applies to secondhand phones, but some have tried it and it worked.
As far as tutorials on youtube, I found this was the most comprehensive.

digitizer came in just a few hours ago, i managed to replace it and now everything works!!! I AM HAPPY!!!. so to answer some Users questions, yes replacing the digitizer did fix the Issue!!

[Q] Misfortune, Please Help?

So I have a One S that is not hacked in any way, and I was doing an official update from HTC/T-Mobile to it when I lost internet connection. The phone powered down afterwards (acting like it had completed the update). Now I am unable to power it on at all. When I plug it in no light turns on, holding down the power button does nothing, and holding power down and volume down does not do anything. How might I be able to fix this. I looked through the forums but I haven't seen any one having the same problem with a non-hacked One S so I was not sure what I should do.
Any help would be great!
Thanks

Your phone bricked during an update. It's not that uncommon as doing a large update writes lots of important files. So maybe you got a bad download and here you are. Since you never unlocked you should just submit a warranty claim.
HTC phones come with a 1 year warranty. The phone hasn't been out for 1 year so you're good there.
The only problem is I bought it from a friend so T-Mobile wont do the warrenty because they say it has been used on another account prior to mine

[Q] HTC ONE S Bricked

Hey Guys,
a friend of mine just bricked his HTC-OneS and I'm here to help him get it back to life
He installed the latest PacMan Rom and everything was awesome.
All over sudden the Phone didn't boot up anymore.
It can be charged via USB, so maybe one can do something over USB
Windows-PC doesn't recognize the Phone he says...
As far as I remember its an HTC One s ville c2 (is there anything like this)
Due to the Fact that I'm a Motorola User, I have no idea where to start trying to recover his Phone...
Please Help me do it
do you know how to use some adb/fastboot commands? run fastboot oem getcid in the bootloader.
hold down volume down and power to go into the bootloader.
I would try to get into the bootloader first. That would provide a gateway to possibly fixing his (or her) phone.
Hope to get into bootloader, will get hands in his phone in monday.
Coming from Motorola i'm used to a factory tool where i can flash official Firmware via PC. Is there anything like this for HTC phones?
If not first thing i would try is flashing a New recovery system via fastboot to have sth to work with. Anyone agree with this plan?
Sent from my XT925 using xda app-developers app
I don't think I've ever seen a tool like that. I think the best bet would be to get into recovery, mount and try to flash a new rom (C2 roms in this case).

Yes, go to androidruu.com, look for villec2 and click on it. The latest RUU should work unless he is carrier branded. Then you will need to use a carrier RUU.
Got hands on his phone and it doesnt do anything...
No bootloader nothing.
Only thing that happens is that it recognizes its on a wallplug...

Anyone got an idea?
The little charging LED is red, is it possible that there is some kind of battery driver missing, so the phone won't charge anymore and the battery is empty?
and is there an option to solve this?

Really sounds like it is hard bricked.
I could mention things that you have already most likely tried.
Holding power down for 30 seconds
holding power down for 10 seconds under bright light so the front sensor registers (prevents messing up your phone while in your pocket)
when plugged in computer, does device manager show it as "qhsusb_dload" (bricked)
Hold power down and volume down for 10 seconds. release power button and continue holding volume down.
From replies from manufacturer that people post here, often they replace the battery and (motherboard?) Seems like something happens and a sudden battery discharge messes up the works.

So quick question, due to the fact that the Phone is hard bricked, can i send the Phone back in, and get things fixed, cause the Phone was s-off and rooted before, so warranty is void.
Is there any way they could find out about it? Like a blown fuse or anything?

Your guess is as good as mine. There was one guy who posted here, that they did fix it, and when they sent it back they had turned back on security, or S-on. So they obviously knew and didn't care. One of those ymmv. I kind of doubt he did anything wrong and it is a defect. People post on here with completely stock w/ same symptoms.
