I use the wireless tether 3.1 and after a couple minutes i get booted off. My settings are fascinate on first drop down which is what everyone said it should be and the second dropdown i had it set on master and auto but neither seem to help. Any ideas or solutions. I thought about trying opengarden but its a adhoc only, but if you dont get booted on it maybe thats a solution.

Its still beta and SUPER buggy. Ill post the right version for you.
Use this one, you wont have issues. http://android-wifi-tether.googlecode.com/files/wireless_tether_2_0_8-pre1.apk
Ill try this and report back. Thanks

Restart your phone? 420, hell yeahhh. If that doesnt work, id use history cleaner and wipe your cache. Or boot into recovery, if THAT doesnt work. Id do a wipe.

Open garden is adhoc only. Certain devices wont run on that. I need to be able to set up an infrastructure. V3.1 offers that but is not reliable. There are other ones too but my phone says that there is not enough space. The wierd part is that i have way plenty of space. Thats where im at now.

I have 3.1 working fine on the ep1f leak. Here are my settings. Profile Fascinate, Method Softap for samsung. changed the channel to 4 or 5 your choice really. If there is a wireless router nearby on channel 1(which most are factory set at) you will get interference. Also try this I had to do it on my wife's phone. Uninstall wt reboot then reintall. Let the phone get completely up(media scanning and everything). Then try and run wt again. I've gotten 3.1 to work on a bunch of phones. Hoope that helps.
Hey man, sorry to hear nothings worked out... Sad to say but why dont you try to mount your SD card, make a new folder on your desktop and back up everything on your SD. Go under my computer, right click the disk and format it. Do an odin restore to ED1, keep it stock. Let it update to EE4, then flash an EE4 Odin rom that gives you root, such as this one. http://www.androphiles.com/files/android/EE4deodx_DXC.tar.rar then your kernel and rom. I mean, I know you probably dont want to hear this kind of answer but if nothing else has worked then this might be your only option. As for getting infastructure working, I saw a thread on it. Ill post it once I find it. PM if it worked.
Edit: I link that I found says to download the newest tether, which obviously you are having problems with... So give it a try again after you do a full wipe.
I'm having trouble using Wifi tether. When ever I try to connect I get an error that says "WTF!! Your phone is automatically shutting off the connection" lol it was pretty funny first time I saw it. The wifi tether signal still shows up on the devices I connect to but they don't register it. Is there any work around or fix? I used the roms codename and beam for this btw.

I see you two have some valid issues most of the time, but its hard to make your points when you are dealing with a mass amount of people that aren't educated enough to see them.

yea but before that you need to set up command prompts and downloading a jig file program with it and some other stuff. with odin there's no need to use command prompts, you just download the tar pit and csc files and flash away. Practically unbrickable even if you take the usb during an odin transfer. I'm not saying one click doesn't work but I think it throws people off

lol I think you're right..let me rephrase then. I view Odin just another option to root, flash, and unbrick your device. Why not include it as an option, I don't think it's obsolete just yet.

Hello everyone,
So all of a sudden I'm having problems when trying to connect my new One S to my PC. This is really confusing so read carefully.
Typically, when we connect the device to a PC, the LED lights up and the USB icon shows up in the status bar. Here's the thing. When I try to connect my HOS to the PC, the LED blinks asynchronously and the icon on the status bar disappears and reappears. It's like the connection is loose.
My first thought was that there should be a hardware issue.
I tested the cable first for any issues. I tried another cable and the problem persisted. When I tried to connect my other device, an Xperia X8, there was no problem whatsoever. So, definitely, the cable is not producing the problem.
Next, I thought maybe the Micro USB port on my One S was the problem. I took a q-tip and cleaned it, although it already was clean. Tried again connecting it to the PC, no luck. But when I tried connecting it to my Laptop instead, there was no problem at all! And there's also no problem when charging it (from the wall charger).
My next thought was the PC's USB ports where causing the problem. I took a vacuum cleaner p) and dusted off any lint there was. So I tried connecting my HOS again and still no luck. Tried all 4 USB ports and even a USB extension cord.
If needed, my PC is running Ubuntu 12.04, my Laptop Win7 and my HOS is running CM10.
Now I'm really confused and I have no idea what to do next. Any thoughts?

It's Ubuntu, there are no drivers. On my laptop with Windows, there's no issue and I didn't install any HTC drivers. Just the regular drivers Windows installs when detecting a new device.

The chipset is pretty much the motherboard which of cause controls USB and other stuff. So you need find out what you on and then see if there is an update.
So I should check if there is a software update for my motherboard. Sorry, I'm not well informed concerning hardware

Hello!
Which Version is your ROM at? Everything except the Jelly bean update (4.1) should work out of the box.
From jelly bean on you will need libmtp. You want to use mass storage? As far as i know One S has just recently been added to libmtp things. So if there would be a problem you may contact the bugowner or just wait for a working kio slave with mtp.
Greetings,
R
PS.: I use opensuse so things are for sure different. I will just wait for a kio slave that works.
Maybe my information is not precise enough or not correct but you could give it a go:

So I rooted and flashed Roms on a macbook by connecting my N5 via USB. Now my first macbooks data is corrupted. I thought this might be the fact the macbook is 4 years old. So then I try my Dads macbook pro because my phone isn't performing as well and keeps freezing and going into a bootloop. So I connected it to the pro and then about 45 min later, the macbook pro doesn't even turn on. Does anyone know anything about this? Do I have a virus on my phone possibly?

Unless you ran destructive commands using root, there's no way this happened.
What commands did you run? What tools did you use? Did you use a toolkit from the forums or did you download one from a random website?

Sorry I was just being vague figuring someone else might have had the same problem. But first off I rooted and flash Franco first on my macbook. And everything seemed to work fine. Then after trying to flash PSX ROM, my phone started to run into problems. Like the first one was that something like the UID? had a problem with the system. So then I tried undoing the ROM and putting on cataclysm. This is when my Mac started to really get slow. My Mac just started crashing and so then I tried to flash the stock image because coincidentally my phone was rebooting like crazy and also crashing when trying to open certain apps or trying to do things to fast. While doing this my mac crashed when I was in the final stage of flashing my stock. So some kind guy on here helped me put everything back to stock. He also helped me root and flash Franco and cataclysm ROM. (Now started from when flashing the stock image on the phone successfully, I was using my dads macbook pro since my macbook didn't even boot up and was stuck on the apple logo) so after flashing everything my phone kept on getting into bootloops. So I tried putting everything back to normal, but then my macbook got unbelievably slow. So tried restarting it and then that macbook got stuck on the apple logo. I don't know what the hell is going on. Even as I'm typing this, my nexus 5 typing is laggi g like crazy!?!

OK really OP, it sounds like you didn't know what you were doing. First, wipe your Nexus 5 clean so you fix the lag and go back to stock. Then, figure out what you spilled on your macbook's to break them because obviously, it wasn't the terminal commands. If you really can't figure this out, head the Apple Genius bar, because we're not there with you to diagnose the problem. It wasn't the ROM or rooting, its something else. Sorry.

So now a new problem has arisen. my phone is still rebooting and draining a ton of battery because of it. I think i might just have a defective device.
