Kinda cruious how you all are doing with your apps and game. I have a game I released about 3 weeks ago. And it's doing very poorly. I advertised it on probably about a dozen forums, released it on google play, slideme and the amazon appstore. It gets 3 downloads a day. The only success I had was running an admob campaign. That got me several hundred downloads but as soon as the campaign stopped, so did the downloads, and I won't make it back.
What do you guys do to advertise your apps and games?

29-12-10 Edit: And they've been pulled, nothing to see here so just move along.
So I got Dungeon Hunter HD a few weeks ago when Gameloft was offering it for free on their website. Imagine my surprise today when I synced my Appbrain account and it showed that there was an update available for Dungeon Hunter HD on the Android Market! Did Gameloft finally cave and put their content onto the market?!
No such chance unfortunately...I clicked through to the market to find that the "game" was being offered by a dev called DavinciDevelopers who had the cheek to list gameloft.com as their official website.
Looking through their other apps, they also listed Avatar HD, Hero of Sparta HD and Spider Man. "Avatar HD" wants permissions to send, receive, edit and read SMS messages and "Spider Man" requests loads of bluetooth and wifi permissions.
Don't get conned by these scammers!
Unfortunately, I can't post links as a new member but the curious can find these apps by searching on Appbrain.
Edit: I have flagged these apps as inappropriate and would appreciate it if others did so too so they get pulled off the Market.
I despise Gameloft for not releasing their games in the Market.
If they did, I would actually start buying their games.
Go buy Dungeon Defenders in the Market, a much better game running the Unreal Engine made by developers that understand.

The fact is that this is just giving Gameloft another reason to shun the Market. Letting DavinciDevelopers be will only give them more of a chance to scam unwitting buyers who keep trying to get the game to work until the new 15 minute refund window is up.

We are unsure just yet if this is a UK-only release or if everyone is able to grab this but EA has released D.A.R.K for the Xperia Play. It's a little tricky to find but we have where to get it if it is indeed available for everyone. Either way, it is a great looking shooter/RPG game.
D.A.R.K is a top-down shooter/RPG with a space theme wrapped in some great 3D graphics. Your job is to search through a ship that has lost communications which was on an important mission to save mankind. While there isn't a whole lot of information regarding this game, your character happens to be decked out like a Space Marine from Warhammer 40k. It is a lot like Gun Bros but without the Bro part and deeper storyline. Don't forget this was one of the games that was announced right before E3 as coming to the Xperia Play but with no other information available.
Features:
Huge Sci-Fi RPG
Mind-blowing 3D graphics
An enormous ship to explore
Tons of upgradable weapons and items to find
Unique Enemies with intelligent AI
Currently, to find this game you have to go to a specific site which is why we believe this may be a UK-only release for right now. This doesn't mean anyone else can't get it but we are also are not 100% sure you can either just yet. What is even more strange is that there was no information or press release that this game had even been released. The only way to get the game is by jumping onto your Xperia Play and heading over to this site, EA Flexion Store. It is an OEM marketplace where EA HD games are sold.
One other thing to note, during the intro video the Chillingo symbol appears. Does this mean Chillingo is getting back into publishing on Android after almost a year of nothing? If you remember though, at the end of last year EA bought Chillingo for $27 million so it makes sense since EA is involved in Android gaming.
D.A.R.K will cost you £5 which is basically $7.99. We would love for any of our US Xperia Play owners to try this and let us know if it works for you or not. It probably won't though since we are almost positive it's UK-only right now. As with all Xperia Play exclusive games so far, D.A.R.K will end up being a one month exclusive to the Xperia Play most likely before a version for all other Android devices is released. No word on exactly when this will hit US shores but it could be any day from now.
I can download it, so it seems not to be UK only
Regards Dousan...
yea im downloading now too
Just took the game for a quick run and its pretty cool the aiming is pretty easy in this game and the d pad works prefect, all in all its a really good game!
Unsure of how to obtain this I can't find it in my Market Aus here
It's not in the market you need to use the link in OP's post then the link that says 'purchase'. When on EA's homepage hit D.A.R.K link. If it's not there hit the home button in the bottom of the EA page and it should then appear

Fun game played one hour and it's saying my progress is 66% I hope it's not that short.

Now it's easier to find, simply open the Xperia Play app and it's there!
it's already on my Xperia Play app, PHILIPPINES
Whenever i try to get the game via the Xperia-Play app it redirects me to the EA site and there it said:
Unsupported Game
We're sorry but the game you selected is not available for your handset. click the link below to browse all games that are available to you.
Am i the only one having this problem? Anyone know how i could fix it?
I wouldn't bother getting this game, it gets very boring and repetitive. Sure the game looks great, but the gameplay is weak. I would stick to Gun Bros where there's far more depth in enemies, upgrades, and weapons.
I managed to buy it, the game is very repetitive, but fun. The problem is, I finished it in less than three hours. After finishing the game, they tell you they will release addons soon, so they want more money from us.
6 euro for a repetitive game of three hours, and they want to release paid-for DLC? I'm sure the next phone models will have coin slots, just like the old arcade games, because they'll want us to pay 20c in order to respawn after being killed, in addition to having bought the game...

Christmas may be over but don’t tell Gameloft that. The mobile gaming company will be having a sale, starting Dec 29th, on all of their Android titles in the Market, offering them up for only 99 cents (my favorite word) each. That’s not such a bad deal seeing how some of these games can reach upwards of $7 a title.
but on their market, not the android one. so not as convenient

As a condition of selling ebooks or apps on Amazon, vendors give them the unconditional right to match prices found on other stores. A few weeks ago, when google had their ten cent app
sale, all of the apps were discounted.in the amazon market as well.
Amazon actually has a program that automatically adjusts prices. This has led to some strange behavior in the past. Once a vendor distributed a free chapter from a book only to find out that Amazon had automatically made his entire book free. In a more interesting scenario, a book's price was increased leading to a fight between two automatic pricing systems. After all was said and done, the book was priced on amazon for millions of dollars.
I told myself that I was not buying another Gameloft game after the 10cent sales and every game I bought from them did not work on the Kindle Fire If I still had the apk files I would compare the version between the amazon and market and see what they changed because we all know all it was is a hardware check.
do this:

and all of the gameloft games will show.

As the title says, Phantasy Star Online 2 is coming to Android & ios as a freemium game: Joystiq.com
Phantasy Star Online 2 isn't exactly the Dreamcast-era throwback we expected. Sega is embracing the future for its pricing model -- the infinitely expensive, vaguely annoying future. Sega announced a free-to-download, free-to-play model for the PC/Vita online action RPG during a streaming media event this morning. Revenue will come from item transactions.
Sega also announced a version of the game for iOS and Android. This won't exactly be the full game; according to Andriasang, Sega promised "social game elements," and simpler controls and character creation. Data will be shared between the phone and PC/Vita versions, but crossplay will not be possible. This version is due winter 2012, between the summer PC release and the 2013 Vita release.

It's a shame that we won't get the full version or cross play with PC/Vita versions as I remember many sleepless nights spent playing Phantasy Star Online with my college friends a long time ago as a Newman Hunter.
Oh man!
I played it a few times on my friend's DC and had SO much fun! I never owned the game or a Dreamcast at the time, and I for some reason decided to buy a copy a year after I got my first Dreamcast... 2 years ago... Offline mode is okay but not as fun as going online! I just can't believe that I expected to play Online when I bought it! xD
Hi folks, just ran across this: Because We May, a week long event promoting the success of Indy developers on digital distribution systems. There is a great selection of Games on sale in the Play Store, inlcuding some I just bought a few days ago and others I've had my eye on.
Looks like it'll be running until June 1st, so check it out!
