Christmas may be over but don’t tell Gameloft that. The mobile gaming company will be having a sale, starting Dec 29th, on all of their Android titles in the Market, offering them up for only 99 cents (my favorite word) each. That’s not such a bad deal seeing how some of these games can reach upwards of $7 a title.
but on their market, not the android one. so not as convenient

As a condition of selling ebooks or apps on Amazon, vendors give them the unconditional right to match prices found on other stores. A few weeks ago, when google had their ten cent app
sale, all of the apps were discounted.in the amazon market as well.
Amazon actually has a program that automatically adjusts prices. This has led to some strange behavior in the past. Once a vendor distributed a free chapter from a book only to find out that Amazon had automatically made his entire book free. In a more interesting scenario, a book's price was increased leading to a fight between two automatic pricing systems. After all was said and done, the book was priced on amazon for millions of dollars.
I told myself that I was not buying another Gameloft game after the 10cent sales and every game I bought from them did not work on the Kindle Fire If I still had the apk files I would compare the version between the amazon and market and see what they changed because we all know all it was is a hardware check.

wow, 8 bucks for that game compared to 1 dollar for wordwise in market. lol.
EA Mobile (makers of the iPhone Scrabble game) also makes an Android version. Oddly, they make it near impossible to find, purchase, and download.
On some Android phones you can simply go to rim.eamobile.com and find it by browsing. It's $7 just like the one a few posts up but if you like the iPhone version you might prefer this one since the interface is nearly identical.
That said, browsing the EA Mobile site does not work on all Android phones in which case I'd recommend using "User Agent Switcher" in Firefox from your PC to trick the EA site into thinking you are browsing from a compatible device. That's what I had to do and I'd be happy to post instructions if anyone needs them.
Alternatively, if you send me a PM I'd be happy to share the apk so that you can test it out before buying.
EDIT: I just saw the version on Handbrake and interestingly it is also made by EA, however, the interface is quite different than the iPhone-esque version available through the EA site (at least when I bought it a month ago). They are either selling multiple versions or did a redesign.

Seems to me like the official one doesn't support online games. From the site it states the following game types:
Play alone
Play computer
Pass and play (which to me sounds like handing your phone back and forth)

My thoughts exactly. I can buy the physical game for $10, and a used one from a garage sale for no more than $5.

Yep, no online play. I prefer it that way anyway. People just quit when they start losing.

Hey guys! Just want to say that Dungeon Defenders is now free on the market! No idea if this is permanent or just today, so grap your copy now!
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.trendy.ddapp&feature=search_result
I believe it is free now because Google launched their in-app payment model, and they developer will be charging real world cash to acquire in-game items.

Oh i see! LIKE!
What does this mean for the persons that paid for this app? Are we subject to having to pay for everything now to?
The only difference is that you paid for it and we don't. Everyone can use the in-app purchase.
They made it free so that more people will play it. It's a strategy for the console/pc version which is soon to be released.

Damn I paid for it. Hopefully we get more players now.
Any dates for console version?
"Dungeon Defenders” has never had an official release date for its PC, XBLA and PSN versions, though a Q1 release was Trendy’s initial goal. The game is now looking at a March or April release date for the XBLA and PSN versions, with the PC version releasing sometime later."
Hopefully the people that paided for it get something nice in-game
ARE YOU KIDDING ME
i bought this and now its all free.
and the people who paid for it get nothing.
BULL****.
I hope their PC/Console games fail.
I bought it but hardly played it, it's just too damn complex for a portable game.
I'm not real impressed about being nickle & dimed for it after buying it at full price, I won't be purchasing anything further from this developer that's for sure. If they'd given paying users SOME sort of acknowledgement then it'd be different, but that's just insulting the people that've supported them.
I guess they figure the microtransaction model works for Zynga, so why not them as well.
Didn't you people get tons of free items every-so-often already, delivered to you?
Geez, it's not like the developer is asking you to pay a monthly fee; they only made the apk free of charge. The new players who now download the free apk will never be able to get the free items you all got. And if you don't feel like spending any more cash on the game, then don't buy anything using the in-app purchasing mechanism.
Sheesh...
maybe you guys don't know how to play the game so you all are complaining that it should have been free. it's pretty cheap for a game like this!

The Humble Bundle for Android
Four awesome games for your Android device. Jump start your mobile game collection with Anomaly: Warzone Earth, Osmos, and EDGE. If you pay more than the average price, you also get the indie classic World of Goo!
Playing at your desktop? No problem. Buying the Humble Bundle for Android also gets you Mac, Windows, and Linux versions of the games.
Pay what you want. If you bought these games separately, it would cost around $60, but we are letting you set the price!
The games work great on Mac, Windows, Linux, and Android (system requirements here). If you're not sure if your Android device is compatible, give these demos a try.
You can support charity. Choose exactly how your purchase is divided: between the developers, the Child's Play Charity, or the Electronic Frontier Foundation. Also, if you like this deal, a tip to Humble Bundle would be much appreciated!
I got their email about it earlier. I bought the apps because I only just got my android tablet the other day and don't own any of these games. They are all great games and I'd recommend anybody to buy them who owns an android device. It also supports charity!
I would totally do this if I had more than 56 cents to my name...I would feel horrible paying so little...>.>...Great idea though...Hope it's still around when I can take advantage of this with more heart behind it. ^_^
Great deal. Played Osmos on an iPhone for some time.
I am thinking about buying the bundle. Do I get the apks or can I download them via the market? What about possible updates?
Greetings
FallenOne
You get APK's and they upload new versions to their website. They also mentioned they have some app in development that will push updates to your device.

Humble Bundles last a couple weeks at most. I paid $6 for this yesterday, but I honestly wouldn't blame you for paying $.50 if that's all you have. If they didn't want you to do that, they'd set a minimum (Indie Royale, for example, a similar pay-what-you-want bundle deal, has a $1 minimum).
If it would make you feel any better, set it to to give the entire 50 cents to charity.
I paid $ 25, even though I have previously purchased a Wolrd of Goo and OSMOS (Via website or Steam, Humble Bumble 3, Android Market and Humble Bumble for Android)
Bought it also and paid 10$, got OSMOS allready but it's a fun game tho. World of Goo is worth it!
Does Android Market occasionally get discounted apps like in the App Store for the iPhone? I am assuming it does since it is up to developer but trying to figure out a way to see the apps that get discounted. Any ideas? Thanks.
The Market has discounted apps before when they were celebrating 1 billion downloads I believe. Not sure if they will do that again for other milestones but I would keep looking at the Market and usually checking out Android blogs will tip you off to these events before they happen. I was able to get about 10 paid apps for .10, it was pretty great so I hope they do that again also.

That's actually a good question. Like DroidGiant27 said, they had a big week-long $0.10 app promotion going, but that's about all I remember. Amazon's AppStore has a free app every day, and then there are other markets like GetJar that have free apps, etc.
Now that you mention it, I'm surprised that they don't offer more sales. It is up to the app developer as well, but I've seen a lot of reports suggesting that app sales (and like Steam games sales in the PC world) actually can boost revenue. Personally, I bought a bunch of the $0.10 apps, and now my CC is on file, but I don't think I ever would have bothered with any at full price.

Hello!
I've recently completed the first book of my text adventure game after a year of work, and I would be very grateful if you could give it a try and give me some feedback. In this game you play as an ordinary guy trying to win a mage tournament against the most powerful mages in the world, in the hopes of winning the grand prize, and using it to fulfill your lifelong dream of becoming a mage yourself.
As you progress, you will also get to know the inhabitants of the continent that the tournament takes place on, and you will learn that a person called the Creator established several utopias in this realm a few hundred years ago, where animals and humans could live in harmony, and where food was created through magic. What you will get to experience throughout the game, however, is the downfall of these utopias, and you can even choose to save them from destruction if you so desire.
Besides the traditional choice making, you also have stats you can level up, and there are different checks in the game to see if you have the necessary level to take a certain action. For example, if your ancient languages level is high enough, you can understand when the animals or monsters speak.
Here is the link to the game: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.magiumgames.magium
I hope you'll all enjoy playing this game as much as I enjoyed making it!
Cheers!
Congratulations
Dude, your game is just amazing, the best app I have ever downloaded in my phone, I just want to congratulate you and say that I cant wait to see what happens next! Keep up with the good work (and please tell me the first book's ending can be reversed ).
P.S.: why don't you put your game for ios as well? I have some friends that loved the idea but only have iPhones.
I just saw the XDA thread on r/androiddev and I remembered this forum. Just wanted to let everyone here know that since my initial post on this forum, the 2nd book has also been completed and the story is still in progress. Chapter 4 of book 3 was published a few days ago on android and iOS.
Cheers!
Hey there, thanks for sharing your game!

Unfortunately, it looks like Google Play purchases are unavailable in Montenegro, and this game relies exclusively on IAPs for income (the game doesn't have any ads). Aside from that, if I were to publish the game there without an option to pay to unlock the next books faster, I'd be sure to get negative reviews from people. I'll publish it there if Google ever makes purchases available in that region.

Makes sense. Maybe you could consider making an alternative version without IAPs, so that you could sell it from Play Store and XDA store with an upfront price? Or maybe there are other IAP providers that do not depend on Google's slow expansion? I have no idea how practical that would be, but at least you would be able to reach a few more people...

I can't really sell it with an upfront price because the game is still in development. The first two books and first four chapters of book 3 are available, which all amount to around 600k words on all paths, but the series will have 5 books or more, and I don't want to ask for the full price now, because it takes a long time to write these.
I had the game up on the amazon store for some time, but there were barely any downloads coming from there, so I pulled it out, because it wasn't worth the extra effort to port a new version for that store.
When the whole story is finished, I'm planning to put a full-priced version of the game on Steam, and maybe then I'll also consider some other stores, but that will be years from now.
Ok, good luck and sorry for noise.
Amazing story, enjoyable and fun. Must be crazy hard to keep up with writing it tho.
A song that kinda feels like it matches this is "Tabi no Tochuu (Spice and Wolf)" by AmaLee.
Barry (my one at least) is a crazy but smart guy focused on his aim, which I love.
Good luck with the rest of it, I'll defo be keeping up.
PS - You might wanna secure achievements by forcing over the cloud or something cause someone can get the books for free by editing the savefile as root.
This is interesting
