[Solved] Android Market scammer issue - General Topics

29-12-10 Edit: And they've been pulled, nothing to see here so just move along.
So I got Dungeon Hunter HD a few weeks ago when Gameloft was offering it for free on their website. Imagine my surprise today when I synced my Appbrain account and it showed that there was an update available for Dungeon Hunter HD on the Android Market! Did Gameloft finally cave and put their content onto the market?!
No such chance unfortunately...I clicked through to the market to find that the "game" was being offered by a dev called DavinciDevelopers who had the cheek to list gameloft.com as their official website.
Looking through their other apps, they also listed Avatar HD, Hero of Sparta HD and Spider Man. "Avatar HD" wants permissions to send, receive, edit and read SMS messages and "Spider Man" requests loads of bluetooth and wifi permissions.
Don't get conned by these scammers!
Unfortunately, I can't post links as a new member but the curious can find these apps by searching on Appbrain.
Edit: I have flagged these apps as inappropriate and would appreciate it if others did so too so they get pulled off the Market.

I despise Gameloft for not releasing their games in the Market.
If they did, I would actually start buying their games.
Go buy Dungeon Defenders in the Market, a much better game running the Unreal Engine made by developers that understand.

The fact is that this is just giving Gameloft another reason to shun the Market. Letting DavinciDevelopers be will only give them more of a chance to scam unwitting buyers who keep trying to get the game to work until the new 15 minute refund window is up.

[Q] GameLoft Re-Download Policy

I, like many a XDA member, switch phones pretty often. This year I have been through a Nexus One, Samsung Vibrant, G2, and tomorrow I am ordering a MyTouch 4G. I have purchased 3 games from Gameloft. I have Sandstorm HD, Let's Golf, and Dungeon Hunter.
I bought Sandstorm on my Vibrant, and the other two on the G2. I was hoping to get all three games on my NEW SHINY MyTouch 4G. According to Gameloft though, the games only work on the device that you purchased the game for.
Now is it just me or does this sound like total BS? I mean why is it that every other app developer that dev's for Android can let you re-install purchased apps when you switch phones, but GameLoft can't. Is that F*%#@!$ ridiculous or what?
I mean I can see if I was to switch from android to iPhone, or WP7, but we are talking about a switch from one device to another. I am pretty sure they don't reprogram each game for each android device. I really love gameloft games but this is basically a deal breaker for me. If they don't give me all of my games on my new device, I am through buying games from them. I buy a lot of apps. I would guess that buy at least one per week.
Anybody else think this policy is BS and just a ploy to make extra cash?
Love it
I love Gamelofts Policy +1 for Gameloft WIN!
I find their policy absurd. That is why they will never have me as a customer until they quit being draconian and greedy. I think if they want to compete with the rest of the dev world for android they need to learn to play nicely in android playgrounds. If not they will not be around except for the people who think their policy is awesome. I feel really sorry for the ones who are not rooted who cant backup their gameloft games so they can play them on their new or replaced android phone.
-1000000000 for gameloft and their poor customer tatics.....

Lies, Spend more money make them richer so they can invest in R&D for better Games.
You know what?
I would also appreciate cross-platform support..
E.g. you pay for the full version of "Documents To Go" on your Iphone.. you still have to buy another Licence for Android to use it to the max there..
That's something I would like to see them reconsidering..
But of course switching devices with the same OS should be out of question..
I support pirating Gameloft (after buying first copy).
Policies like this are the reason they aren't selling as well as on the friggin Apple Store.
Dude, I just discovered this policy today which led me to this thread. I'm pissed cuz I just got a new G2 and the two games (MC2 Black Pegasus and Asphalt) can't be redownloaded on my new G2. This is just ****ing ridiculous. I paid nearly 5 bucks for those games. **** that. They lost me as a customer. NEVER AGAIN. They can bet I won't be downloading their games (officially) ever again. Bull****....
their games are the only ones that I don't buy.
1. greedy [email protected]!
2. their games won't work sometimes

I have recently become aware of this and it is a disgrace. They should put their stuff in the Market and all this goes away. I am currently in negotiations with their "support" people to see if anything can be done. I am not hopeful.
Is there a way of flagging this stuff with Google perhaps? Certainly, I would not buy anything from outside the Market and nothing from Gameloft again without properly checking these restrictions.
Supposedly, their policy has been changed according to Android Police. I haven't seen anything on their site that says so and actually attempting to download games fails for my new phone. Put in a support request, will see what happens.

Ultimate Spiderman: Total Mayhem for ANDROID!!!

So yesterday on December 17 2010 Gameloft releseased Ultimate Spiderman: Total Mayhem HD for Android. You can purchase it on the mobile website of Gameloft for $4.99. I dont know about you guys but this is Exciting news, I really think this game is fun and addicting. I believe some big News from Gameloft is coming out later this month for Android, so we'll have to wait and see what it is.
www.gameloft.com
You can only purchase this game on their website on your phones browser.
I can't see the game on gameloft's website, where can I buy from

Loved this game on the iPhone! Just boughtit for my G2.
Side note, I HATE that its not in the market. Gameloft makes switching devies a PITA!
I'd buy the game, if they didn't make it such a PITA to get at!
When I get to the page, as soon as I switch the phone type to my N1, the page changes to Asphalt 5 HD... Which I already fricken have!
And what's the deal with having to receive a download link via SMS?! I don't have an SMS plan, so I gotta pay the extra?!
I've be much more hyped about the game, if Gameloft pulled their heads out of their arses.
This is easily the best game I've ever played on a phone. The only thing that would make it better is to make it available on the market.

Pinball HD?

MODS PLEASE READ OVER ENTIRE POST. First off let me start off by saying I'm strictly against piracy. With that said there should be protection for both the Developers and Customers from bring stiffed. I purchased Pinball HD for Tegra a couple months ago. It downloaded and installed perfectly fine on my Vibrant and ran with Chainfire 3d. Now since Google apparently gave the Dev's the ability to choose which devices are allowed to download it won't show up in the Market. I've contacted google concerning it and they told me to contact gameprom, in which I did. Gameprom basically told me they won't help me because I have a Vibrant. I don't feel it's right to not be able to enjoy/utilize something I've purchased. I have my google order receipt to show proof...so my question is if Someone who has the app can be kind enough to p.m. me. I'll attach my google order receipt if someone wants to see it. Please help I love that game.

Just search on google. Grey market apks aren't hard to find.
Theres also a cracked version of Pinball HD for tegra that will run without chainfire.
Its the only tegra game I've seen with such a crack.
Yeah, the Pinball THD has been cracked to Pinball HD. Same goes to T-Racer THD > T-Racer HD. From my perspective, it isn't wrong to play the same game that you've paid for. It can be viewed like this - you own the software, but then you "mod" it a little to be played on another device of yours. Piracy occurs if one didn't buy the game, but the one have and distribute it to others.
I fell in the same boat, and when I basically got the same response from them, I just used my 4shared app from the market to download the apk that I've already paid for. I definitely won't be buying any of their Apps till they change their bullshyt policy.

The nightmare of Gameloft

Afternoon everyone,
Quick question and then a moan... Has anyone ever bought one of the Gameloft 3D games using the "3D Games" app/icon on the O3D? I did...
24th of December 2011 I decided to buy Star Batallion 3D from the LG World/Gameloft site. Clicked purchase and decided to pay via Paypal. £2.50 was paid and I downloaded my game. Sweet gameplay and 3D graphics!
After flashing various ROM's onto my phone I forgot all about the game and then got another £2.50 charge in Paypal from Gameloft!
I went back into the 3D Games shortcut and sure enough, I can now download 6 (!) Gameloft Games, but Star Batallion is no longer there!
Tried to view my account and it says I cant do this on the mobile site and to log into the proper website on my desktop... did that, no account. Entered the paypal address I used to pay and my mobile number... no records found... looked back on my phone and I can still download 6 games.
Emailed Gameloft and they sent back some auto response BS asking for my firmware version on the phone, mobile operator etc... stuff that doesnt matter.
So yesterday I remembered about the Gameloft crap and went onto the 3D games bit... Nothing, no games to download, no purchase history... and it still has no idea who I am... Now I know when it comes to the 24th of Feb I'm gonna get another £2.50 charge from them for games I cant download and don't even want...
I cant close the account because one doesn't exist!
I take responsibility for not realising I was paying for a subscription because £2.50 a month isn't the end of the world but making it nigh on impossible to stop and not having any records of my purchase is worse.
The saga continues; will I get my money back? Will Gameloft give me a proper account where I can manage my purchases?
Who knows....
wow you bought it? i got it for free by following the FREE GAMES card that was inside the box
if its on paypal cancel paypal subcription service file a complaint though paypal

[Q] Discounted Android Apps?

Does Android Market occasionally get discounted apps like in the App Store for the iPhone? I am assuming it does since it is up to developer but trying to figure out a way to see the apps that get discounted. Any ideas? Thanks.
The Market has discounted apps before when they were celebrating 1 billion downloads I believe. Not sure if they will do that again for other milestones but I would keep looking at the Market and usually checking out Android blogs will tip you off to these events before they happen. I was able to get about 10 paid apps for .10, it was pretty great so I hope they do that again also.

That's actually a good question. Like DroidGiant27 said, they had a big week-long $0.10 app promotion going, but that's about all I remember. Amazon's AppStore has a free app every day, and then there are other markets like GetJar that have free apps, etc.
Now that you mention it, I'm surprised that they don't offer more sales. It is up to the app developer as well, but I've seen a lot of reports suggesting that app sales (and like Steam games sales in the PC world) actually can boost revenue. Personally, I bought a bunch of the $0.10 apps, and now my CC is on file, but I don't think I ever would have bothered with any at full price.
Songs ,movies and books going on sale for the new market that's coming in a few days

$0.49 cent apps and, Where's My Water? (very fun) is $0.25 for today. It sounded like this is going on for a week, and I suspect the selections will be rotating each day.
