Full Function 2.1 AOSP "like" rom using DarchLegendv4.1_AOSP STYLE!!!!!!!!!ENJOY
For those of you out there that want aosp+cam I read alot of threads here and i know im not the only one that wanted this....Heres how I did it:
NOTE:This method WILL NOT WORK with launcher2. It CRASHES everything!!!
1)Wipe
2)Flash DarchLegendv4.1
3)Reboot
4)DL Helix (or use Home)
5)Disable Sense default
6)Choose Helix or Home(sense will NOT work)
7)Push LiveWallPaperPicker.apk to system apps
8)Push LiveWallPaper.apk to system apps
9)ADB Reboot Recovery
10)Flash the following update zip for AOSP bar(plus you get a sweet pearl rosie) http://www.4shared.com/get/243892390/d77fb176/DarchLegendV4_WhiteRosieTaskba.html
11)Optional#1):To get nexus mod. dl this file:http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=294834&d=1268802202...next open the zip and follow the directions below (disregard the launcher2 file)
adb remount
adb push <location of libRS.so> /system/lib
adb push <location of librs_jni.so> /system/lib
adb reboot
12)Optional#2): To get starfield,settings/150stars or less & it will start working!

thanks for the guide, but this is mainly just like a AOSP skin, it just *looks* like AOSP, the htc framework is still there with all their funky apps and backround services right?
That's the part I like the best, the general cleanliness of AOSP. Thanks though, I'll try it out.

Actually, darch made this rom too. And THIS legend version i really like because of all the possibilities, i'm making my own version as we speak to include all of this stuff. But no, its not just a skin. I wouldnt go thru the effort of typing long instructions like that for just a skin. Give it a try, trust me. Youll thank me later

This is not "full function AOSP."

This is great, and will hold me over until a true AOSP 2.1 is developed. Thanks for the info.

AOSP-like. And your opinion does not become valid until you try it yourself. If you dont want to try it and it doesnt appeal to you then dont bother to post. I put in alot of effort to get this to work for the ppl that DO want this. Ive seen too many of your posts and their negative nature. Id rather you not post in my threads please. Im putting effort forth to help others like myself get the most out of their devices, not to dampen their spirits or argue like a child. Im sure even you can appreciate my goal. Thank you.

By your own standards, my opinion is valid since I have tried this as is evidenced by this picture I posted 2 days ago here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5896331&postcount=488 and again yesterday after the Nexus news herehttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5918537&postcount=517. My only issue is that this is indeed a skin. Well, a skinned home replacement app. The "AOSP" taskbar is just modded HTC framework, and Helix is just as app. Everything else runs on HTC software, and is no way AOSP. Clearly you can see that I enjoy this look by the referenced links, but I think you should be more responsible with your labeling and call it what it is. Some people who dont understand the difference between a HTC ROM and an AOSP will be misled into thinking this is something its clearly not. I just think it should be labeled what it actually is in the thread description, and not bannered as something that does not exist.
EDIT- Also, there is no need to push the lib files to DarchLegend. Theyre already in the ROM when you download it.

Where can one find LiveWallPaper.apk and LiveWallPaperPicker.apk?

Simply put, this is not AOSP. AOSP has a different codebase which does not contain the HTC frameworks. Even without Rosie running, the frameworks will take up memory. That said, I have been working on a rom (which recently got deleted ). This rom will be the 2.1 Sense rom but without anything Sense related. I am going to try to remove the HTC frameworks but I can't guarantee that. At the very least it will look and act like AOSP 2.1. The difference between that one and this one is that everything Sense related will be removed including Rosie, widgets and the Sense services such as social network provider, etc. They all eat up memory which slows down the phone.

no I completely understand what this is and does, I'm not arguing that it's like a skin for a home replacement. My argument is that all the background stuff is still there, all the htc framework for the radio to work, settings, all that crap.
Darch doesn't replace all the "guts" of the htc build to that of the AOSP, he just ports someone's system dump to another phone. I don't do this for a living so I can't go into it any more than that, and I only say things I'm fairly certain are true, so if I go any deeper I'd probably be talking out my butt.
I'm glad to see a new face in the lines of development and hope to try out your custom build when you release it. You sound a little confrontational right now so I'm just going to leave it at that. cheers.

This is something I've been waiting on since the first custom rom came out, someone who found a way to remove senceUI, roseie, and all the htc crap. Very much looking forward to this sir.

I have no opinion on it. Merely stating a fact.
I'm sure it's a very nice skin/whatever, and that you've put a lot of work into it and that some people want it and like it. I am simply suggesting that you don't call it "full function 2.1 AOSP" because it is absolutely not. IMO that's an insult to the Open Source Project, and it is highly misleading to people who are not as well informed about it as others.

yea id be pretty salty if i went to the honda dealership because i needed a hybrid to save on gas and when i got home and looked under the hood of my brand new hybrid only to find a carburated v8 that gets 6 miles to the gallon.. IMO thats what this is like the theme is fine and all that but its not a aosp rom

Thanks for the constructive criticism,i really appreciate it. I didnt see this coming. Also; i should not have assumed that because i actually put the rom i was using in the thread title everyone would KNOW it was not android open source project framework. I was trying to create a workaround for anybody that wanted AOSP "feel" i guess. The best way to describe it is not what i was trying to do. I was trying to appeal to the ppl that liked the Darchdroid aosp2.1 as much as i did. Except here you get cam and camcorder. THIS IS NOT AOSP FRAMEWORK ITS HTC. But then again everyone upset about this already knows that. Trying to help the community, not confuse the less knowledgable

I have not figured out how to mix aosp with legend framework. Thus my title. I thought everyone here knew what this was by reading the title. I am sorry if i mislead anyone, and you were disappointed by what you read. I will be even more specific with my titling in the future to avoid issues like this. I dont need to be scolded for thinking this was AOSP, because i didnt. IN CASE YOU WERE WONDERING, THIS IS NOT REALLY AOSP FRAMEWORK. Sorry for the disappointment and any confusion i caused. Good point with the cars and all. One big difference though....roms are free.Also,anything you do can be undone. Ive dl'd roms that didnt even boot,
so how mad could you be? I wasnt aware that everyone wanted like aosp on the inside, i dont have that yet. Thats just the outside for now. Took a little less than a day. I am butchering 2 of the new roms i like best. I hear alot of ppl love sense and alot of ppl love aosp. I was trying to appeal to both crowds in a superficial way of sorts. I am hard @ work trying to cook what is wanted @ this point now that i hear it. Thanks

What effort have you put in? It is not like it is difficult. I have been doing this sense stock 1.5. All your instructions are from already existing threads. People know you disable Sense and use Home. People also know that you can install the Nexus launcher.
Overall another useless thread with regurgitated information.

a new keyboard

i was looking though the touch wiz sys dump and i liked the keyboard so i put it in an update format. Just flash it, i gurantee youll like it. If not just remove it. I included the lwp as well that were posted earlier the lwp from it too, they work great on the phone though, I need someone to test it for me, cus swype is a pain to remove w/o wiping, and i already have all this on my phone. you just need to flash it like a rom. It contains 4lwp and 1keyboard app and their libs...dl the new lwp and kb HERE ​

no time, sorry. you can rip them out and just install though, just make sure you take the lib files that go with them in your libs folder and the apps in your sys/app or data/app folder.

thanks for testing it and the quick feedback. i stated that it included the lwps in the op. they are from the new touch wiz dump. Ill check to see whats up with swype, just figured id throw it out there for those that didnt see this stuff yet....also, did you remove your old swype completely? or did you not have it? cus its VERY hard to get rid of.....just wondering so i can fix if something wrong.

sorry about that, and thanks.ok, soon as i get home ill post a link to a really sweet htc skinned swype mod. i use the red one in my newest rom, but the green one is slick too. im going to hang out for a little bit, when i get back ill put it up, and just take it out of the other one and ill mess with it, since its a full version.....

You saw something you liked, but didn't test it because its too much work to uninstall what you already have but that's ok because you already have it installed so you need someone else to take a blind leap of faith and install something you "gurantee" they'll like but if they don't that's ok too because they can just uninstall it (which really they can't do easily) but if you want to see what it is in the first place tough luck because you're out and about and have no time to post a screenshot for your own quasi-release?
If I were Canadian, I'd add "Eh?" at the end of that.
I strongly recommend that if you want to be taken seriously, you put a little more thought into your release posts. I applaud you for taking the time to share with the community, but frivolous posting of root-level patches without some form of quality control on your part could lead to a dangerous precedent of buggy and/or malicious code being introduced in the same channels.
I know you probably have the communities best interest at heart, but holding yourself to a higher standard keeps the bar high for the rest of those issuing releases to demonstrate an aptitude for solid documentation so people know precisely what to expect from dedicated contributors.

Do you really think i need YOU or ANYONE else to take ME seriously? my work speaks for itself, i could care less what you think of me, but just dont be disrespectful or snotty about it when you obviously have no clue as to what i do, if you say " which really they can't do easily" when you are speaking about removing a single app.I take it youve never been to dev? cus thats what ive been doing for the past 3 days, is working on my last rom. Then when i finish something that takes more than a day i take a break. I am not a developer nor have i ever claimed to be one.i have many contributions to the site,and taken a **** ton of time making sure my theads for them are maintained and everything i work on i support. Not a blind leap of faith, i have many pps that ASK to test for me because i dont have time to when im working. I have a 8mo old and fiance to take care of as well, this cannot be my ENTIRE life(though i might enjoy that)ive been asked permission to port 4 of my roms to other devices, and about 100 pps i talk to on a regular basis,you can talk to that will tell you another story about what I can DO. ? is what can YOU do? and WHY would you be ragging on someone who makes regular contributions to the site to help members enjoy their newest hardware just a little bit more? you want to see more go to hero-cdma and tell me some more about quality control. Also, that guy apparently doesn't realize how big of an asset you've been to the hero and evo communities. Keep up the great work!

If you took a moment to actually absorb what I posted, you would recognize I did not besmirch your contributions, but was offering a point of constructive criticism.
Regardless of the quality or lack thereof of your "releases", your posts are plagued with you getting into flame wars with people because you feel like you have to defend yourself against any form of critique you don't agree with.
But hey, if you have five people who think your work is on par with some of those that I have donated to, by all means cater to that denominator. I'll gladly keep my feedback to myself and save it for someone who can handle dialogue with a little more class.

Anyways, all you had to do was ask, and give some credit. Thats prolly what actually pissed me off. Lmfao me thinks someone needs to check there tampon and or get the sand out at the same time.
No need to blow up at someone for using ur work. A simple hey that's my work and u don't mind if u use it just give credits would have worked and been nicer.
Plus if it's one of ur dark themes then its prob a port of someone else's work anyways. So he would need to give credits to u and the original Creator.
Also pm's work both ways instead of calling him out in his thread a pm to him would have worked.
All in all stop acting like a little cry baby and be an adult. Unless urs teenager them just grow up

but seriously I agree credit needs to be given but this should be resolved behind the scenes, if there was a problem. Then if the problem isn't resolved after that by all means call them out on it in open. Just my opinion and they are like asshole's everyone has one........

I have used a few images from other themes and their original creators are both credited and thanked in the OP's. So climb in your PTLoser and gtfo.

everytime I try to install any of the themes, it comes up with an error. Is there a direct download of your themes that i can just flash in recovery? Says e:signature verification failed, aborting.

Sculpted Theme now available in updater. Also figured out how to edit 9.pngs so the lock sliders look much better.

I give props to all you mother F"ers that theme an mod these rom's for me...But sometimes ya'll take it a lil to seriously... this is open source, as of now I have learned a lot, so doin my own themes has begun! This can happen if you are using the ROM Manager recovery. It seems to be problems with smaller.zip files, like themes and patches.

Definitely agree with this.
No problem with offering fonts and ui tweaks and all that jazz, but make them optional. With CWM, making a very simple 'update.zip' that enables/disables the font is a better idea IMO.
Nice one though, feel the TF needs more ROM's

Hahahaha, you guys are new to Magnus themes apparently. He makes themes that look like a comic book ate the ugliest font in the world, then puked all over the gui. That's his thing. I always am impressed and give props for the amount of effort put in, even though its not my cup of tea.
Because of this, at this point I think its almost sacrilege to ask him to change fonts.
Always happy to see the efforts though! The more choices the merrier IMHO.

I agree with above, personally don't care for how this ROM looks.
Also, why include the dialer? You can't make calls with the Transformer, so why?

seems no one noticed but this is STOCK, just added my fave font honestly...there is no purple other than my screensaver. you dont have to use either of those. this is just a way to save users time and still get all the goods in one place.

GOOGLE man. took me 10 mins and ill post the vid a bit later. ive been very busy and cant sit at the pc all day and i really dont care to provide user ease for those that cant appreciate a FREEBIE. hinthint you can enable most any android with data into a phone for incoming and outgoing calls. if i miss my evo, then my galaxy tab and my transformer ring. or i can use either of them to call out as a secondary or third line ^_^

I'm not in the US so I don't know what Google Voice can or can't do. I wasn't criticizing you for enabling the dialer or whatever that is, just curious what the use would be. Now I know.
Still, for a device that's WiFi only I don't really see how making calls over data is that useful. If the Transformer had a SIM card that one could hack and make voice calls over that would be something.

I can see you haven't themed it, what I was referring to were the extensive font changes.
I realize you chose that font for your ROM because you like the way it looks. Nobody is angry or ungrateful that you shared, people are just expressing their opinions - most are entirely positive, a few had some criticism.
Is it preferable if the people who have constructive crticism not saying anything at all?

Don't become discouraged, obviously everyone here appreciates the work put into custom ROMs. But when you change the look from stock as much, a few people will find it not to their liking.
Most people seem to like it but I don't understand why you think someone saying the font is not to their liking is not helping point you in the right direction. You don't have to listen, but don't say people are unhelpful just because they calmly state their opinion on an aesthetic choice you made.
But again, thanks for the effort and thanks for sharing your ROM with us.

The only thing negative anybody ever said about this ROM was that the fonts didn't look good in their eyes.
If people wanted to just be hurtful they wouldn't bother putting things like IMO and "personally" and "in my eyes" when they provide criticism.

i will try as my schedule permits...im on the boards here @ xda regularly.i will be linking to one of my font threads for those that dont like my chosen fonts...there are over 300 i believe. people have hated my fonts of choice for the past two years so this is an old issue. not sure whats wrong with my eyes though? ^_^

right. i will have to learn to appreciate the criticism a bit more it seems..i dont want to discourage others from posting their input because that is what im after so that when i do share i can make a tailored version once i get to know my target audience, as i have done in the past with hero then evo. i would just appreciate a "Hey like the font, hate the boot." or "You should do a REAL theme." or some other type of creative direction or more constructive criticism is more helpful than just letting me know what you dont like...let me know what you DO like as well..

1.apologies friend ive lived in the us my whole life.. well mine comes in handy when my evo is charging or my other androids are dead i still have a phone as long as i have a data connection.
2.received. my idea of a theme differs from most here. a true system wide theme takes me a month plus to create. changing 2 of the font folders 34 font files and adding a boot that shouldve shipped with our tfs does not in any way make me think theme; i just see very lite mod.
3.no i just prefer that with the criticism you add a both a LIKE along with the DISLIKES.how do i know where i have succeeded if all i hear is what i did wrong?
4.i will never become discouraged. just have to develop a rep-or with members that are not familiar with my work.

Apologies to OP, but quick Adfree Android question: is there documentation for it somewhere? I checked out bigtincan.com and it doesn't have anything, and on the Android Market^H^H^H Google Play site there's very little by way of documentation. I think it just did its job, but it presents a lot of choices and it would be good to know what they all do.

Yep and the same man helped him on his journey of getting the root. I feel the man is acting childish following him around and under minding his every turn. Same team.... I thought. But with this crap going on..... Just because he achived root doesn't give him rights to act like a snob.

badass dev? when is he coming?
anyways in all seriousness the point that k0nane was trying to make i believe was fully justified. by using nicks tweak you rely on him updating it, which from the looks of it... doesnt seem to be happening. what does android being open source have to do with helping or not helping? as far as i can see there was an alternative given thats all, no different than if i made a huge giant post about how to use alogcat and get your msl. which works fine but there is an easier way of just using getprop.
so far from what ive seen of this community is a bunch of crying on how there are no roms/kernels etc. we had one blaze owner in teh irc for teh longest time. helping with root/recovery and whenever starskyrob had a moment to test his rom. everyone claims to want cm7/cm9/aokp/ics yet i havent seen anyone except (forgive me for misspelling your name if i did) dr4stic even try to compile. if you want good things to happen to your device then you need to step forward, look into rom development, learn how to compile the kernel from source. if you cant/arent willing to put the time in then find someone who is ive mentioned all around this forum no dev is gunna give up their high end device to go buy and work on the blaze.
myself and k0nane are on sprint it just happened to be that we like to go around and help phones that dont seem like they are gunna get the big name treatment. i tweeted at my buddy mikeyinid (we worked together on the nexus s back in the day) see if he wouldnt mind helping you guys on out...

And that is 100% respected. I am not only talking Bout this post, rather all of his post that have followed one of nicks. I am glad you guys helped. But that doesn't give the right to treat others in a condescending manner. Nick has done amazing work on the vibrant and now has this phone and wad helping this man. Once the man got what he needed ( because like you stated, he nor you have the device) he was out. Then started treating him like this. Shabby, problem wasn't with you. I just had to step in and defend nick because he is a bad ass dev.

I personally think a lot of the problem is the average user's interpretation of T-mobile sales reps.
I mean, I knew the S2 had a very large rom community especially because it's a very popular phone. I was led to believe by T-mobile that the phone is pretty much just an S2, but with a smaller size screen.
If you compare the phone's features and specifications, you'd be a fool to not agree.
But as it turns out, as it pertains to roms, nothing could be further from the truth.
Shame on us, the average user, for not realizing the golden rules with salespeople:
1: They'll tell you what you want to hear.
2: Most of the time they don't know what they are talking about anyway.
3: Often times when you need to buy a phone, you've not exactly been planning on it, so you have to do it hastily. This was certainly true for me.
4: Custom roms are of course never able to be supported or recognized by the carriers, they pretty much pretend they don't exist, and for good reason. Most people aren't really careful enough to be doing it, even for the "simple" methods.
5: Rom maker's ability to communicate instructions is not always clear, and yes, this can have a detrimental impact to a person, especially if they are not experienced with the process. Seriously, half of the roms I've looked at for Android phones have glaring instruction errors, and even if it gets pointed out by another person, rather than update their instructions they'll just reply, "Yeah, sorry about that" The problem is, that clarification is often times on the 40th page of the thread. Sigh.
6: And this is my number one reason........
A lot more people should be getting more and more fed up with carriers who impose limitations on phones. Seriously, if it wasn't for all this carrier and manufacturer ego-wagging, the user experience would be better for both the tweaker crowd, and the stock crowd.

I appreciate the help with root and CWM but not the comments that follow all of mine. I have Saturdays to work with this device, so I am limited with time. I got to the point where I felt like baking for my wife and I ...= less drama. Ill be more than happy to post a "bootable , Functional Rom. Sorry I can't sit here 24/7 I work 6 day's a week and spend the extra time with my 3 kids. I got to a point where I was neglecting my fam and was staying on the PC trying to keep up with 5 Rom's. Something had to give. What am I not updating? Is there a need? This will be put into my rom instead of an extra app. If something needs updating when I update a rom it will be done with each release. If it is unappreciated just delete the thread.

alright, its clear. i cant speak for k0nane but i can for myself. the hitsquad attempts to help devices get off teh ground but it doesnt seem like that is much wanted round here. so my apologies but ill go ahead and remove this forum from my daily loadup macro.
im keeping the cwm thread open and source up on my github for any future devs that wish it. i hope no hard feelings and best of luck to you all
