Ics rom issue!! - T-Mobile LG G2x

Are there any ICS roms where the wifi calling actually works? I live in a house where I get 0 bars no matter what and I rely heavily on wifi calling to make calls and send texts.

If it hasn't worked onyx you tried then no, cause it doesn't work for me on any of them, only 2.3x is versions except miui. I think I read that Mr. Apocalypse has it fixed in his next beta 3 that will be released later today. I'm definitely testing that out cause my work has absolutely no service, home is great service but I still prefer wifi calling when available...

Yeah, I think Genesis worked for someone.

Its out now can't test while at work but hopefully someone reports back soon in the thread.

I'm gonna test it out now i'll report back

I can't get it to make a call but no force closes.

I use wifi calling a lot and have found EB ics the most stable. Some phones/sim cards work some don't. Try eagles blood

I've tried EB i get force closes on it

Guys, WiFi calling is VERY heavily integrated into the software of the phone, its insanely complex and it relies on a ridiculous amount of framework and other files before it even starts up.
im going to go out on a limb here and say we have a better chance of getting video acceleration working than we do of getting reliable WiFi Calling.
Until we get an offical rom from T-Mobile then we will most likely never have Wifi Calling on any ICS Rom. (hell it wasn't even that reliable on anything other than 2.3.3 or lower)

Very reliable on 2.3.7
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium

Yeah it's really reliable on hellfire phoenix 2.3.7.

try the hellfire sandwhich 1.6

but use the harsh reborn kernal

I've heard wifi calling isn't working on that one as well =\

[Q] Anyone can provide WiFi Calling APK for my MIUI Rom?

running Singh ROM and no WiFi calling app.
Would love to have it.
Any link to download and flash?
Thank you!
Look around and it probably wont work that's why he doesn't include it. It is a weird known issue about 98% of the users can not get wifi calling to work on an miui rom, if it does work a reboot kills it or you have to have an old sim card.

March 2012 Baseband and CM7

Haven't seen anyone post this but have seen people asking about roms. I flashed cm 7.2.0 RC and I am not experiencing any of the call sound issues.
Just thought I'd pass along the fyi

Are you sure you are on right baseband? Did you test both incoming and outgoing calls: i dont think this matters but you should be hearing static instead of call if you are on the latest baseband and not official ROM
So op which is it

U liar. It doesn't work.

I think GetRIL would solve the ROM/Baseband compatibility problem. (Not affiliated in any way with GetRIL or the developer. I take no responsibility for anything regarding this.)
I used getril (free version) and wifi calling worked fine at least. Don't know about conventional cell calls though.

Did you try the March 11 2012 (latest) baseband with an unofficial ROM?
Tried cm7 with gitril. Only works on first call. I was so happy, then my brother called again and static came back.

Man I want so bad come back to cm7 I've tried some days ago without getrill and couldnt call... hope with getrill I'll be able to call again will try it later

Getril won't fix it. There are more significant changes that need to be made to the ROM.

Indeed, after reinstalling CM7 today, even with using GetRIL, I get horrible static on both ends of a cell call. Wifi-calling works fine still. I hope devs figure out the disparity and add support for the march baseband. We'd really appreciate it!
My awesome.brother loves stock. So he traded me g2x's and now I.have cm7 so.happy!

[Q] Wifi calling is AWFUL since CM 7.2 stable

When I flash 7.2 stable or any nightly after it, wifi calling quality is AWFUL. It's nearly impossible to understand what the other person is saying due to dropouts and static and such. It kind of sounds like cell calling when you have almost 0 signal (dropouts, distortion). Cell calling works and sounds fine, not wifi calling.
If I flash back to 20120603-NIGHTLY-p999, wifi calling works fine again. And YES, I do have the new March baseband.
I've tried this on multiple wifi networks that I KNOW have plenty of bandwidth, and the results are the same.
Anyone else have this issue? Solutions?
I'm having the issue as well even more so I'm having issues connecting, if/once it does connect I get static as well.

Yup, I'm on LG-P999-V21y, which I think is the only one that works with the March baseband.
Would RIL affect wifi calling anyway? I assumed RIL only had to do with the cell radio.
I was on 20c for some reason. I just switch hex to 21y hopefully that'll help.

I keep getting this at my work I changed nothing from yesterday ans it was fine... and whn at home I got it there also. Which is fine I get service at home but not at my work.

I had the v21y ril for awhile but I had noise and connectivity issues...
Now I'm just using the default (v20c) ril...connects no problem and noise issue went away....

I'll look into it next time I'm at work at that location... It's a College arena with about 10 wi-fi routers all over the place... still Wi-Fi calling at my house where nothing has changed is acting stupid... just takes minutes to connect at times, and if it connects it sounds weird and distorted... I went back to a OTA GB rom and nothing was wrong with wi-fi calling, so i dont know... Thanks for the link though.

stock 7.2 kernel -- it works fine for me, if and only if you
(1) are on 21y baseband
(2) use GetRIL to make sure you have 21y RIL
(3) flash Owain's fix for new baseband
(4) use Trinity ELPmax kernel..
Then it's fan-frickin-tastic.
Otherwise, it works, but you have to reboot all the time to keep it working.

WiFi Calling on ICS?

Has anyone been able to get WiFi calling working on any ICS rom? I've been a huge fan of Eagles Blood, but I'm starting to come too close for comfort on my minutes.
If there is no ICS rom with working WiFi calling, what is broken that is stopping it from working?
(Sorry if this has been brought up before; I couldn't find any threads about it using search)
I've been wondering the same thing. I'm assuming its a driver issue.

I've given up on any ICS builds because if this issue. Not a single one of them have working wifi calling.
Looks as though I'm using GB ROM's until I can upgrade next year.

Anbody on WIND have a solidly working GPS?

Anbody on WIND or any mobile carrier for that matter have a solidly working GPS?
If so... can you please tell me what steps you took to get it working that way. What rom, kernel and additional files if any did you install?
I love the CM 7.1 nightlies as my daily driver but even after changing the gps.config to supl.google.com and port 7276...it takes forever to get GPS lock and sometime doesn't even lock at all.
Please let me know... i am desperate!

wind mobile, using hackfest PA, stock PA kernel
the trick is, use fasterfix, or edit the init.d yourself, and set it to canada
your gps will get a lock eventually.
however dont expect it to get a lock fast, g2x has **** load of bugs and **** and is quite well known for having a slow ass GPS.
It usually takes about 1-4 minutes to get a lock depending on the sky condition.

what do you mean BT dont work? I bt tether to my tablet sometimes and it works perfectly.
are you saying BT audio? I dont have a handfree device i can test with bt so i cant say for sure.
30 second locks every time if I am outside. Mobile data needed and I am on stock Rom. Modified hidden menu GPS setting but GPS conf is still the stock one (believe it or not, wrong servers in it and all, but still works ).
Maybe it's just luck, but then, I have two g2x and both work identically good locking to GPS signal.
Bluetooth audio is a deal breaker for me, so nothing but stock for now
