Anbody on WIND have a solidly working GPS? - T-Mobile LG G2x

Anbody on WIND or any mobile carrier for that matter have a solidly working GPS?
If so... can you please tell me what steps you took to get it working that way. What rom, kernel and additional files if any did you install?
I love the CM 7.1 nightlies as my daily driver but even after changing the gps.config to supl.google.com and port 7276...it takes forever to get GPS lock and sometime doesn't even lock at all.
Please let me know... i am desperate!

wind mobile, using hackfest PA, stock PA kernel
the trick is, use fasterfix, or edit the init.d yourself, and set it to canada
your gps will get a lock eventually.
however dont expect it to get a lock fast, g2x has **** load of bugs and **** and is quite well known for having a slow ass GPS.
It usually takes about 1-4 minutes to get a lock depending on the sky condition.

what do you mean BT dont work? I bt tether to my tablet sometimes and it works perfectly.
are you saying BT audio? I dont have a handfree device i can test with bt so i cant say for sure.

30 second locks every time if I am outside. Mobile data needed and I am on stock Rom. Modified hidden menu GPS setting but GPS conf is still the stock one (believe it or not, wrong servers in it and all, but still works ).
Maybe it's just luck, but then, I have two g2x and both work identically good locking to GPS signal.
Bluetooth audio is a deal breaker for me, so nothing but stock for now

Try buying GPS Aids Donate. Use the GPS Doctor. Afterwards, turn on GPS Status in the app, and it will locate satellites around you. That should get you to lock on perfectly.

I'm having the same issue. Unlocked phone on ATT. Running BSGS. Have tried GPS Doctor, GPS Status and GPS Aid Donate. Phone won't download the xtra data. None of these programs have worked. Anyone else unlocked running GB on a network other the TMOB getting GPS to work and if so HOW?
I too can't download xtra data, however I do get GPS fix after 5 min or so. Totally unacceptable but haven't been able to fix it.

if gps aids v3 doesnt work, try v2. for all of my phones, 3 doesnt work, so i always use gps aids v2 and i have never had a problem. all that you have to do is go to gps doctor and click regenerate and you should be good to go.
jager
I've tried GPS Donate V2 and it just gets stuck on checking license. I know you like the program and all but I've tried others with the same result. I'm gonna call att and see if the problem is on there end. Just seems really unlikely. How could they shut off a GPS chip?

just tried my gf phone(atrix from att on att) and it locks on fine. She is not paying for att nav. just used google nav no problems. This GPS chip in my phone is really getting to me. It worked great until I unlocked and or went to GB. Did both at roughly the same time. Don't know what else to try.
If it got stuck on checking license, install v3 and then install v2 without uninstalling v3. Should work then.
Sent from my GT-P7510 using xda premium
Should being the key word. Tried it both ways and still gets stuck on checking license. I'll email the developer and get it straightened out. I'm starting to think it may have something to do with unlocking the phone. Stranger things have happened. Thanks

[Q] Wifi calling is AWFUL since CM 7.2 stable

When I flash 7.2 stable or any nightly after it, wifi calling quality is AWFUL. It's nearly impossible to understand what the other person is saying due to dropouts and static and such. It kind of sounds like cell calling when you have almost 0 signal (dropouts, distortion). Cell calling works and sounds fine, not wifi calling.
If I flash back to 20120603-NIGHTLY-p999, wifi calling works fine again. And YES, I do have the new March baseband.
I've tried this on multiple wifi networks that I KNOW have plenty of bandwidth, and the results are the same.
Anyone else have this issue? Solutions?
I'm having the issue as well even more so I'm having issues connecting, if/once it does connect I get static as well.

Yup, I'm on LG-P999-V21y, which I think is the only one that works with the March baseband.
Would RIL affect wifi calling anyway? I assumed RIL only had to do with the cell radio.
I was on 20c for some reason. I just switch hex to 21y hopefully that'll help.

I'll look into it next time I'm at work at that location... It's a College arena with about 10 wi-fi routers all over the place... still Wi-Fi calling at my house where nothing has changed is acting stupid... just takes minutes to connect at times, and if it connects it sounds weird and distorted... I went back to a OTA GB rom and nothing was wrong with wi-fi calling, so i dont know... Thanks for the link though.

stock 7.2 kernel -- it works fine for me, if and only if you
(1) are on 21y baseband
(2) use GetRIL to make sure you have 21y RIL
(3) flash Owain's fix for new baseband
(4) use Trinity ELPmax kernel..
Then it's fan-frickin-tastic.
Otherwise, it works, but you have to reboot all the time to keep it working.

No GPS with SyNthetic_aospX 1.0.0-BR7

Please forgive me if this has been asked and solved before. I'm having a problem with GPS locking on this rom only. I tried updating the GPS config file but had no luck locking on. I'm in an area where with other roms I can typically lock onto about 7 or 8 satellites. Any help is greatly appreciated!

I did try using GPS Status to "reset" the GPS. It did VERY briefly find two satellites and then they disappeared. I've tried re-downloading the rom, wiping, etc. with no luck. I'm just bummed out cause I really like this rom but no GPS is a no-go for me.
Gps works. Try more apps. Get a fresh download. There are always more things to try.

You said it works..are you using an app from the app store, or is it working from the Rom itself? It's my favorite Rom but I rarely use GPS. I just wanna know in case I decide to use it.

I did download GPS Status from the Play Store and I use navigation daily so it's pretty important to me. I don't know why sometimes it seems to see less or more in the same location but I used the turn by turn directions last night just fine. I'll let everyone know if I see any changes but right now it seems good.
I also flashed the Wi-Fi calling and it's working out, thank you. Looking forward to your future projects!

Data drops

Hi guys,
Seems like I'm getting 4G data drops off T-Mobile. It connects for like, 7 seconds, then drops, then connects again. I've tried both radios and ROM's available (stock) and the same problem exists.
I'm going to return the phone as-is to the customer with the issue partly unresolved, mainly because it does connect voice and MMS, just the data has issues.
Any ideas before I give him the phone back?

Thank you for your reply! I will try that now.
There is a Zip that was created on the G2x forums that fixed the data drops on 4.0.4. O wonder if it would work for our phone given that it's a APN configuration. Hmmm...

Connection Issues

Hey guys--
Sorry is this has been posted but, the xda app isn't exactly search friendly. That being said, I'm having issues.
I'm on Sky JB Base 7.1 update 7.2 and i'm having issues with the radio (UCLF6). It will be connected for a few minutes then loses all service for a few minutes (wifi stays connected though).
Sorry if I'm not giving enough information, but if you need more, I'd be glad to oblige.

What information can I give to help?
Does it matter that the radios were for ICS, or that doesn't matter?

I noticed that when I was on base 5. On base 7.1, I'm not seeing that anymore. I'm on UCLF5 and no issues. After flashing the base, it's highly recommended to let it sit and cache. Then start the Google app restoring process. Also check the governor (on demand or performance).
