[Q] Custom Roms i installs is not completely left after i reflash back to STOCK Roms - General Questions and Answers

Helllo..
First i download and flashed a rom named MoonROM via ClockworkMod over the i9001XXKQB sofware. now i have reflashed the old XXKQB back (warranty reasons), and i have lost 3G connection and i am left with the all the sounds from the MoonRom v 4.0 rom
I have:
- Reflashed a billion times (via Odin MultiDownload v4.43 with the areisVE.ops ) - Pass every time..
- done a full reset many times (using the *2767*3855 factory reset)
- formated data and system via ClockWorkMod Recovery
Still this happens. i have even reflashed the stock rom (xxkpu) but still ive lost the 3g connection and the MoonRom sounds is still there..
Th thing is that every custom rom i install, and when i recover to stock using odin, the old rom is still left, if you get it. what should i do??
I dont know where to post this so......
If nothing works, then.....

[Q] *ClockWork Mod Recovery Issue.

Hi guys I really hope someone can help me with this. I was running CM7 Nightly rom and decided to try and flash eaglesblood 2.3.5 and it flashed ok but the problem is that when I tried restoring my back-up on it I get an clockworkmod recovery error. Any Ideas?
what does the error say?
most likely it was a bad backup and slim chance of restoration
did u do a full wipe before restoring?
Yes I did a full wipe before flashing and also before I tried to restore my black-up thru rom manager.I have flashed plenty of roms and this phone am not a total noob when it comes to this phone. I have never encountered this problem before. Before i tried going into recovery thru rom manager to restore back up thru CWm 4.0 etc, and it says I need CWM 5.0. I updated the rom manager to 5.0 etc and when I reboot and go into recovery (not thru rom Manager) and it says that it is the 4.0 etc version. Also is the 5.0 etc version blue? it jumps from 4.0 to 5.0 back to 4.0. This is a lil weird I went into recovery and did a restore from there and when I try in RM it comes up with error message Cannot restore cuz my CWm is 4.0 etc. thats when it jumps back from 5.0 to 4.0. I know this is confusing and by the way all the etcs you see are because I don't know the exact version. Any helps and thnx to whomever does.

You need to update thru NVFlash. Here is the link and everything should be fine after that. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1054492
Thanks guys u rock. I got the new CWM on there for nvflash. Now I am moving my saved back up zipped file from downloads to CWM on sd card after I zip it, so well see how this goes right now. THanks again
With the G2X don't use rom manager for your backup/restore. Boot directly into the clockworkmod that you installed with nvflash and do the backup/restore from there.

[Q] Trying to get back to stock Firmware

Right so I've recently got a brand new phone to replace my Galaxy 3 (A Galaxy Nexus, such a huge difference) and am now trying to get my old phone back to the Stock Firmware since I plan on giving it to my little sister and it seems like a bad idea to give her a phone with the incredibly buggy (but still very good) Kyrillos' ROM 10.
I've tried using the JPU firmware I found on this very forum. I booted the phone into Recovery, wiped data, cache and Dalvik, then booted the phone into Download mode and used ODIN to flash the JPU ROM onto it. This has resulted in a bootloop as has every other stock 2.2 ROM I have tried. I did manage to get KyoraROM 2.2 running on it but as good as that is I don't want to give anything custom to my little sister.
Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

After you flashed JPU, just wipe data one more time if it doesn't work, then re-flash the rom and wipe data/cache.
How can I wipe the data if it won't boot? Its a stock ROM which means no ClockworkMod recovery.
The simple solution is install jpu rom install fugumod our g3mod whichever you prefer via Odin and then wipe data
Kernels come loaded with cwm if I remember correctly

actually if u'll try to boot in cwm with stock kernel by key combo...you'll see that there is cwm & option to wipe data...look a lil' better & you'll find
I ended up just giving her the phone with KyoraROM on it. She's happy with it like that running TouchWiz and without any overclocks etc. on it the phone doesn't crash so no problems.
Thanks anyway folks.
Just to clarify your doubts, there is stock recovery. Except that it has a very limited functionality
Cheers

[Q] How to update GTP3113??

I am on stock(P3113 rooted+cwm)...I am getting an OTA for 4.0.4 but for that i'll need to go back to stock recovery...Should i :
1) Flash stock rom n then take the OTA
2) Flash 4.0.4 through odin [ http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-P3113 ]
3) Flash stock recovery n then take the ODA.
I would like to go with option 3 cuz it will require the min. amount of downloading....But for that i need stock recovery...So what should i do n is there any other way??
On my 5113 the only thing that worked for me was to flash with Kies and then reroot. It was well worth it though.
There doesn't seem to be an easy way to get just the recovery and I think (not sure) that only Odin can unlock that partition anyway. There are some stock images in Odin format and I have been meaning to pick through them to see if I can find the stock recovery image, but since no one has posted such, I am guessing you can't.

But the problem is that i can't update vie kies...It keeps on disconnecting, so OTA is my only option n for that i need to get rid of CWM.
I am curious too, I rooted using this method, and have CWM installed.

I guess I can just flash the stock image and loose root, upgrade, then reroot. Hopefully, someone will drop a stock, rooted and deodexed 4..0.4 rom for the P3113.
Also, I have not used Kies before, so I guess I don't even know how to flash the stock image for this tablet. Can anyone help with that?

To flash stock you'll have to use the stock rom n flash using odin,,, But i was hoping that there is way around it...
I've updated today my rooted P3113 to 4.0.4
This is the only way to upgrade rooted P3113 (with CWM), because the samsung official upgrade scenario doesnt works on CWM
1. Backup with Titanium
2. Wipe/factory reset with CWM
3. Download and unzip stock 4.0.4 firmware from here, then flash it with odin (PDA button)
4. Configure your device (now it's clean stock apps and stock recovery)
5. Restore your apps with Titanium
6. Install CWM and root - If you wish so (just as you installed on 4.0.3)

I would imagine this is just like the 5113. If you use Keis instead of the OTA update it works. Apparently Keis uses the USB instead of the recovery. However, a lot of people are having trouble getting Keis to stay connected. But I used it with no problems. Just reflashed CWM and rerooted as you say, but did not have to reflash to stock.
Just updated manually from 4.0.3 + Rooted + CWM 5.5.0.4 (GT3113)
Sorry too young to post links
Went very simple (10 minutes)
Returned to Stock Recovery: h://theunlockr.com/2012/06/02/get-samsung-galaxy-tab-2-7-gtp3113-back-stock
REBOOTED
Applied Update (not 4.0.4, not sure what it was)
Downloaded 4.0.4 from Samsung directly: h://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-P3113
Unzipped to Desktop
Updated to 4.0.4 using ODIN (PDA)
REBOOTED
System applied update on startup
Asked me to select language, date, Goodle backup, etc
It loaded all existing Apps, Wi-Fi, etc automatically no TiRestore needed
Up and running, seems faster- smoother, new keyboard (old keyboard was good, this one is as good better for big fingers?)

Back to CWM & Root

I downloaded the file from the Samsung site, launched Odin and updated. It kept all my apps and settings since I did not wipe. Flashed recovery, then rerooted, did not take long. If it gets yucky, I will do a factory reset.
Very helpful!
Very helpful guide.
On a semi-related note, I really like 4.0.4 it's certainly an improvement over the last and seems to have cured the stupid interface lag.
Ok flashed mine using mobile odin...no need to wipe data..

Your steps are so easy. I wish I could follow you on this, but I can't figure out how to revert back to stock recovery only. The theunlockr.com link shows how to completely revert the entire firmware. How do you revert recovery ONLY?
Hasn't someone made a .zip file that can be flashed with CWM? Why is it different than flashing a 3rd party rom?

[Q] P6800 ROM Questions

Recently I hard-bricked my Tab whilst installing a Rom on it (Brick Bug). Now I have a replacement, and it's about time I replaced the HC with something else.
I plan to use the 'Singha ROM ICS P6800DXLP7' ROM and ' Dedraks' GT-P6800' kernel. I'm guessing installation for both is via CWM, but that is how I bricked my tab last time. How can I work around this as to not brick it again? Odin? Which do I install first? Any guidance would really be appreciated!
Thanks
Which cwm you using that cause it to brick?
Share some detail procedure...wipe on stock rom, custom rom, kernel...etc which end with brick?
For now I believe safe atm..
- From stock ICS
- Root with this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1849235
- Install cwm using Mobile Odin
- Boot to cwm recovery
- Flash custom rom and custom kernel
- Reboot recovery NOT reboot system.
- Full wipe and fix permission
- Reboot system to home screen
That what I always do
Here's what works for me
first, d/l CWM to SD card.
then power down.
reboot into download mode ,PC Odin is my install of choice for the roms...
then power down again after the new rom installs and re-boots
re-boot into recovery and choose install zip from SD and choose CWM (which is a temporary install)
dont wipe anything, just choose to install zip and then choose your new kernel.
After kernel (a safe one) installs, then re-boot system.
Ive never bricked this tab or my GN7000 Note
good luck
correct me if im wrong, but as long as you do not factory reset in stock ics recovery you are okay. Right?
Some Note GT 7000 guys reported that they bricked their phablets by copping large files (being on ICS). If this doesn't affect our P6800s, then you are not wrong.
I had installed LQ2 without wiping anything. But had many Screen Offs and Shut Downs, so I considered to risk the clean install.
Did it with Mobile Odin Pro, but first
Ensured that I already have CWM 6.0.0.1
Flashed Dedraks Kernel.
In Mobile Odin chosen "open file..." and then the particular md5 file,
BUT EXCLUDED:
1. Kernel
2. Recovery
Then I selected "wipe" and "clean", crossed my fingers and everything went OK.
Not quite everything, because I lost root, although I am pretty sure that I did not unselect "everroot'.
It was not a big issue. Installed again "root.zip" via CWM recovery.
Its about a week since then and I have nothing to complain.
...
Thanks for the responses guys.
Does this sound safe?:
Flash LQ2 via PC Odin
Root from universal recovery
Flash CWM 6.0.11 via PC Odin
Flash Dedraks Kernel via CWM
Then root again if needed.
Thanks

[$20-donation giveaway] p5110 cannot go back to stock . Stuck in cm10.1

Hi guys. i've been searching and trying to solve this problem for the past two weeks. can't fcking deal with it anymore. $20 for anyone that can help me , PLEASE!
p5110 here. had cm10.1 working for more than 1 year. when i updated to cm.10.3-rc2 , problems appeared.
Tried flashing stock firmware via odin. Says successfull but still in cm10.3 after reboot. boots up , however, it reboots after 1-3 mins.
tried flashing different roms, error.
Please, how can i revert back to stock or any working state ???
thanks,
alex
Anyone ?!
Try installing Clockworkmod (newest version) and then flash the stock firmware with that. Be sure to clear cache and dalvik cache first, and also factory reset (all through clockwork mod)
Latest official CWM won't help as it's to old for anything (stopped at 6.0.2.7 if i am not wrong), better use latest TWRP.
But: it sounds like your emmc got read only because it reached end of lifetime.
Indicator for that:
- flashing a different recovery via Odin doesn't change the recovery - it still boots the old.
- factory reset inside recovery doesn't change anything
Only way i know to get back write access would be to update the emmc firmware via JTAG. If there's no one with a JTAG near your place, replacing the emmc will be the solution.
GT-P5110 16 GB or 32 GB?
What recovery (also recovery version) are you using?
Using a custom kernel?
