[Q] how to make my cpu normal from over cloack? - HTC Sensation

i flashed ARHD with overclock kernel
my cousin tell me it will 100% damage you device and its just from pcs have cooling system!!!!!! anyway:
how to turn it info normal with ARHD and all currently setting and... don't lsoe my data?
if impossible how to do it but i wonna my arhd rom and....
sorry for my English

plz fast...

I believe that the overclocked kernel that comes with ARHD makes the CPU run at 1.5 GHZ, which is the default clockspeed for the Snapdragon MSM8260 chipset, therefore it won't burn anything. Don't worry.

if you have normal sensation and your phone is over-clocked to 1.5 Ghz then don't worry as the actual processor speed is 1.5 GHz only and it was under-clocked to 1.2 GHz by default to support the poor battery(1520 mah one)
If you still want to go back to default
then flash ARHD again without superwipe( this wont touch your apps and data)
and this time just choose stock kernel instead of custom kernel
(in 4Ext Recovery it asks you to select "No" if you want to install stock kernel
afaik)
EDIT: don't forget to make a nandroid backup before trying this...(IT will save you in NEED)
AND most important of all
Dont forget to press THANKS button if you were successful

Some people even overclock theirs up to 1.7 GHz. Don't worry about it ... as long as your phone can handle it and doesn't get hot by itself, you'll be fine. Of course, it will get hot when using heavy apps or playing games, i just stop playing games when it gets really hot ... mine goes up to 67 degrees Celsius hehehe... just dont go beyond 1.7 GHz i guess. Thats the highest i will go, in my opinion...
oh if you want to underclock it, just use System Tuner app... dont go below 1188 GHz atleast(this is stock speed in Sensation 4G)

I'm at 1.7ghz with that Rom and no issues. It's nice.
I put my wife's at 1.2ghz still just in case there's stability issues as she doesn't understand those and just complains lol.

You don't have to do all that. You can flash a kernel by itself. You don't have to overlay the whole ROM. Reflashing the kernel by itself takes about 2 and a half seconds.
There are plenty of other kernels to choose from that will work with ICS, including the stock one.
However!!! You can limit the kernel you have to only allow it to clock up to 1.5 or 1.2 if it makes you happy. Just get System Tuner from the market. You can control the clock speed from it and limit it to whatever you want.
Also..wheveryone else said was true. You're good with the higher clock speed.

I use bricked kernel overclocked to 1.83. No worried about heating because the thermal protection built into the kernel will throttle the CPU speed down if temp gets to high. Just flask the kernel, and don't look back.

OK OK i trust you!!!!!!
OK i restore my kernel to 1.5ghz !!!!! and after a time i use the 1.5ghz i use 1.8ghz!!!!!!!!!! IF MY PHONE BURNS I KILL YOU:d!!!!
Here everything is expansive!!!!

SetCPU, rediculous after root

So after being S-OFF and perm rooted, I have found that setCPU is being a turd. While it works when it works, it requires quite a bit of effort to work.
Each time my phone reboots for whatever reason (pitiful attempts at getting adfree to work, ect) setCPU must be uninstalled, then reinstalled, then set back up via command prompt. If this isnt done, it will cause the phone to restart over and over again.
Any ideas as to why this is?
Matt
Because SetCPU doesn't have a profile for the Sensation's processor yet.
Any good alternatives to setCPU then?
Matt
i have the same issue but no fix for OC Daemon, except restoring, flashing and setting the oc to 1.5. if i set to 1.8 it reboots and reboots and reboots and so on.

This is never going to be fixed. Your phone can't handle 1.8 ghz, it's the hardware.

If you flash a custom ROM and want overclock, flash Android Revolution HD. It has OC Daemon and is really good!
You can overclock to 1.5ghz and be quite stable. You can also underclock to about 245mhz when asleep so it saves the battery when it's in your pocket However, as MT4gUY said, right now you can't overclock to 1.8ghz.
@Sdobron As I understand it, the EVO 3D has overclock to 1.8ghz and that has the same processor as the Sensation...? Is that overclock stable...?

This is incorrect. I was overclocked to 1.8 Ghz for the longest time before I decided to go down to 1.6Ghz (what I am at now) for battery reasons. 1.8Ghz was good for getting 3100 Quadrant scores, but that was it.
There must be a way to reliably overclock without a ROM? I dont see the need for a ROM right now. My phone is already fast! I use ADW EX with overclock, and I have bloatware frozen along with Sense frozen. I am perm rooted, but would love to be able to reboot my phone and not have setCPU act a fool.

[Q] Noob questions on G2X OC/UV...

I recently rooted my P999/G2x and installed CM7.1.0.1, and am extremely happy with it. Am looking to tinker just a *little* bit more, but have some questions... I have LOTS of answers on the forums, but am somewhat skeptical about the currency of some of the information out there (let's face it, stuff changes fast!). So, down to it:
Kernels:
- Did CM7 overwrite the stock kernel?
- I understand the benefits to changing the kernel; what about drawbacks?
- Does CWM back up your kernel with Backup and Restore? If not, how do you do this?
- Recommendations on a good, reliable kernel to use w/ CM7? I am looking at faux123's CM and morific's Trinity. Thoughts?
OC/UV:
- Can you OC on stock/CM7 kernel?
- What is the best app to manage OC/UV? I have my eye on setCPU, cpu Master, and Android Overclock (JRummy16)
- Any recommended settings for the G2x? Any settings to avoid? My plan is to incrementally adjust, but don't really have an idea as to where to start.
Thx in advance!
- Did CM7 overwrite the stock kernel?
Yes
- I understand the benefits to changing the kernel; what about drawbacks?
Since not all the chips are made in the same way, you could soft brick your phone if you try to flash an undervolted kernel. This is the way mine is, and it's somewhat irritating but not all that bad using the stock voltage and overclocking to around 1.4ghz rather than 1.5ghz+. Also, battery life should be expected to be less with an overclocked CPU. It's up to you to decide how you want to run your device.
- Does CWM back up your kernel with Backup and Restore? If not, how do you do this?
Yes, backup creates an image of the entire thing. Before you start making changes, always make a backup so you can revert to previous settings should you soft brick your device. Make a backup, clear cache/dalvik, flash the kernel and reboot the phone. First boot times will always be a little longer when flashing a kernel, so be patient and don't pull your battery right away. For me personally, if it hasn't done anything noticeable after about ten minutes, I pull my battery. Reboot into recovery and restore from the backup you made. If you started off trying an undervolted kernel, time to try the standard voltage now!
- Can you OC on stock/CM7 kernel?
No, and you'll be able to tell once you flash CM7 and use SetCPU (or whatever you use) and see the max is still at 1ghz.
- What is the best app to manage OC/UV? I have my eye on setCPU, cpu Master, and Android Overclock (JRummy16)
Personal preference. I think probably SetCPU is used by most people including myself.
- Any recommended settings for the G2x? Any settings to avoid? My plan is to incrementally adjust, but don't really have an idea as to where to start.
If you want to be safe just start out at 1ghz. If you have no random reboots with your kernel then move it up to 1.1 or 1.2 and see if it's stable there. Personally, I just went ahead and overclocked to 1.4ghz. For the most part people don't really have problems with this I guess. The problems usually lie in whether or not you are undervolted and by how much. If you find your device can run an undervolted kernel, I would just leave the undervolt settings the way they are. As I said, I can't run OC/UV and have to use SV, so I never touch any of the voltage settings.
Hope this helps!
Using eagle blood (cm7 based) with faux kernel.
I heard trinity kernels may have random reboot but don't quote me on that.
Try faux kernel with oc/uv. Its very good, latest is 0.48. But if you go with the ds version (debaouch?) The battery percentages are all over the place... Lol one minute its 50% the next it may be 34%...
Use set cpu. I've uv additional 25mv across the board with no I'll effects. Screen off profile at 503 mhz max and some other profiles will have you getting 24hours easily with normal usage.
Make sure test it out before you "set on boot"...

I tired using DS OC/UV Kernel Version 0.4.8 kernel on my g2x running the latest stable release of CM7 1.0.1. Followed all the necessary step of wiping cache, and darvik but when I reboot, I get the blue lg sign after which the screen just black out and its stuck like that till i pull the battery out. Any one know what I may be going wrong here? ? ?
Trinity ELPmax with Phoenixblood is the best combo. Trinity batterylife is amazing. When i leave the house my phones battery is 100%. 11 hours later (I when i make it home) my battery is always under 60% but never less then 40%. I play music as soon I leave the house, and till I get in the house. I also turn of data when not using and have setscpu set to 900mhz max and screen off profile set to 432 max 216 min.
Just my personal results

+1 to everything you said
just to add if you want to over clock then go with faux or trinity. the cm7 kernel is faster then both @1000mhz, if speed is what your looking for without the dangers of oc. The stock cm7 kernel also lacks the ability to under volt soo battery life might not be as good though

Format data/ factory reset.
Wipe all cache.
Format system. (don't forget)
Flash cm.
Flash kernel.
It may take a while for the system to boot, 5 min. Let it load, and reboot, enjoy.

Overclock HTC Wildfire S - CM7 - Freezing

Hi guys,
Hope someone can help me figure this out
Whenever I try and overclock the phone under all scaling options it freezes or reboots the phone, unless I use the userspace option but then it doesn't appear to actually overclock passed 600mhz???
I am running CM version 7.20-RC0-marvel-KANG
Kernel - Linux version 2.6.35.13-drowningchild-alquez-g86feaaf ([email protected]) (gcc version 4.4.0 (GCC) )
Is this version stable for overclocking? When I installed it I did all the format and wiping of caches including Delvick or whatever it's called lol any suggestions?
I've got Android Version 2.3.7 with ARMv6-compatible processor rev 5 (v6l)
Can anyone suggest anything?
Thanks in advance
I have an explanation for you. Just because you CAN overclock your phone, doesn't mean that your phone can be overclocked. In a nut shell, yes you have the ability to overclock your phone, but the phone can not always handle these settings. I can overclock my SGII to the point where it gets hot in 30 seconds and eventually freezes. The key to overclocking is finding a sweet spot that allows for power when you need it, but not enough to effect the performance and functionality of the phone. It is fun to overclock and chart your performance, but not always practical for everyday use.

Hi thanks I know what you are saying and agree, it's just frustrating that others are reporting they have overlclocked my exact same phone to 806mhz with no hiccups.
I just wondered if there was anything I was doing wrong, anything I need to do to keep it stable?
Thanks
I can now overclock it to 787mhz from 600mhz and it's stable so can't really complain at that obviously my particular phone can't handle anything more.

[Q] Sensation overheat..

My battery overheats and gets up to 56C!!
Probably because i wiped the battery stats because after i did that it always warms up so much. My battery also drains very fast (after 30 minutes of playing 40% are gone).. Is there a way to fix this problem?
What ROM, firmware, kernel? Are you overclocked?
IMO your battery usage when playing games sounds normal enough to me.
I second what the above poster has said. Are you over locked? Also, I doubt wiping battery stats would make your phone run physically warmer than usual...

Haha 1.51ghz ?? The CPU runs at 1.5ghz by default lol (if u have XE ROM) there isnt no point overclocking by 0.01 ghz
Anyway, Update your ROM ARGD is on 6.6.2 now.. that might improve things.
Also, When playing games the phone does get hot, Mine does it too its normal. Even more so if you have a case covering up the back too !
dont panic you'll be fine, and if by any chance your phone catches fire and burns you.... You can sue HTC and get the newest release for life
Lol thanks for helping.. I can't wait for my phone to catch on fire now
and for some reason my cpu is 1.2 ghz by default. I know phones usually get hot while playing games but 56C is too much isn't it?
well under hardware information it will say 1.2ghz but the actual processor is a 1.5ghz, But it has been downclocked to 1.2 by HTC so they could release the XE version as a 'better, improved version' (which is bull****, Its the same phone)
I only mentioned the fire part cause it was in the news last week lol
i ran cpu benchmark it showed 1188 mhz..

HTC ONE X TIPS (OC__UV_GPU) Beast!!

again people, wanna talk about the faux123 004 b6 kernel with u, first off the kernel is amazing when it comes to gaming and stability
now people are having problems with the interactive governore as it dosent use all 4 cores properly -1 (No big Deal) cause (hamdir) talked about how u can modify the OnDemand governor and make it alot better. And he is knowing what he is talkin about!!! So big love to U 2!
so i wanna share the settings im using with my kernel.
First System Tuner
upthresehold 60- 50 is to mutch I think
downthreshold: 10
i set Auto kill : Aggressive
UC CPU : 1.4Ghz- so it wont force stay on one core at 1.5Ghz (when ur running quad mode all are hitting 1.4Ghz
Now UV : first 5 : -225mvh and all others -150mvh and it works fine 4 me (Remember al chips are made in a different way so if it dosen work for u try a bit lower. if it wont work it will just reboot to the old values!
The UV does not affect the GPU like some say it does (ULP GPU are using low power it dosent need as much juice as other GPU´s and if my CPU all 4 can hit 1.4Ghz then it cant be a problem with the 520mhz GPU!
So if ur phone lags during gaming or just in general there is something wrong with the ROM or u have installed it wrong
I always make sure i have no data cashe or any thing left when installing a rom dont even restore old apps or data cuz that can be the problem so see u soon with some talkin abou the ViperX 1.0.1 ROM!
